Why would you want to? The only reason I could make up is a smaller screen if you don't like the big screen, but if you liked it, you'll definitly miss the note 2. Plus that the note 2's battery life is higher than the Z's.

As I heard that Sony Xperia Z has poor battery life but generally it's great phone

I thought about it too at some point. But I've just gotten too use to the screen size of the note 2 along with the Spen. I also like the fact that it's easier to repair and I can order a full housing for the note 2 for dirt cheap.

Both are nice phones but personally id go for Samsung everytime with the extra features> Spen, Airview, OTG / MHL, groupshare etc

Wait for Note 3 / Xperia Z *ultra*. If you want a large screen and a stylus that is.
I think the closest to the Xperia Z from Samsung is the S4 active so you may want to take a look if you want a smaller phone and don't use the stylus.
Of course, like most people in this forum I like Samsung but these new Xperia phones look nice too. Also, surprisingly for Sony, they seem to treat developers well (unlockable bootloader + exemplary GPL complience).

Note 2 replace nexus 7?

Hey all I'm looking at replacing my s3 and N7 with a Note 2. I don't have a problem with the size for a phone but is it big enough to replace a N7? I know this is really opinion based so that's all I'm looking for. I pretty much just use my N7 for watching YouTube and I don't want to watch it and feel like I have to strain if that male sense. Any opinions welcome thanks!

Hi. I think the best way to answer your question is that you have to try it out for yourself. Go to a shop and try an actual note 2 out. Screen size and eye strain are relative factors depending on the person and I consider it as a personal preference. Though I think the note 2 screen is big enough not to cause eye strain.

I have both and I would say the You Tube and Netflix experience is better on the Nexus 7. Netflix is great on the Nexus 7 IMHO.
You could manage on the Note 2, but it is just not quite big enough for me.
After I have purchased my original note 1 about a year ago, I have never bothered with any 7 inch tabs

I'm currently using a Fire HD and Note 2. Perfect combo. HD replaced my N7.

I am actually doing the same thing OP. As soon as my Note 2 arrives I will be selling my S3 and N7.
I rather carry one device to do all that I need done on a mobile device.

OG Note made me sell the ipad 2 at the time. And I jumped on Note 2 on its release day. No need for tablet for me anymore.
Maybe swap my ageing MBA for a Surface later on if that's convincing enough though.
My 2 rupies =)

Personally I don't think its big enough to replace the N7, it certainly won't be replacing mine.

New NXT Design? C530X

I saw this new phone leaked. The bottom clear bar makes me really think of the NXT series of phones which are some of the best looking Sony phones. Hopefully there will be an Xperia S successor featuring the same design philosophy.

That is P successor, I think. S successor is Z. T successor is a unknown device for now.

Z isn't nxt design and it's too big.

To me, Xperia Z seems to be the successor of Xperia ion. The rectangular shape, and the top of the phone seems similar to me.

Why the successor must always be the same design? Not design wise, I mean in terms of importance of the device to the company and the classification of it.

xperia s is not the best phone. Arc all the way!!!!!!!1
I think this phone worse then xp apart from the s4 processor. I rmb somewhere says 4.1 inch screen with 5mp camera.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
That 4.1" would be a nice change to all the way to big screens.
Who are the ppl that really want that big screens?
I don't know anyone that wants one, most have to arrange them self with those things because you can't get a newer small phone.

I really hope its just like the flagship but with a smaller screen size. I hate how all the flagships have giganto screens.

I think there will be a one with 4.0 or 4.3 or between. Should be Dogo.
The specs, AFAIK, are a better V, If I'm right.

More power needs more physical space, and also more battery. To to that, or they make a thick as **** phone, or thin large one.

Dude you don't need more space for more power. If you look at the way processors have been progressing, each year they get smaller and more powerful. Its only because people want huge screens. Look at how successful the S3 has been and that screen is huge. Bigger battery means more thickness which I could care less about anyways. The razor maxx is still damn thin and it has a huge battery.
Basically there is no reason that can't cram a quad core chipset into a phone the size of the xperia s.

[Q] What made you choose the Note 2 over the S 3?

What decisively made you go Note 2 over S 3?
2Gb of RAM and usability
Spen, 2gb ram, bigger screen, software. Absolutly everything!

Battery for my concern, s3 battery simply not enough for me.
Only had the S3 for 6 months then decided to go bigger. Chose it for it's battery life, bigger screen and much better speaker sound.

+1 exactly the same for me, the Note 2 is best phone I have owned.

Missus has an S3. Apart from being lighter and slightly larger than my HTC DHD it didn't seem special. Still too small to comfortably use as a laptop replacement. It also looks cheaper and more like a toy, my grey note looks considerably smarter.

I liked the big screen and stylus which is handy being built in.

Because i really thought there would be less stupid threads over in here nah i joke this place is full of them lolol.. Erm because it was the best thing on the market and it's huge

Reasons I switched to the Note 2 from S3:
1. Stopped eyeing the RAM usage after closing every app.
2 . I barely use my laptop now thanks to the bigger screen for watching movies or editing documents on the go, the S3 could handle it but the screen just felt small and the Note2's S pen helps alot especially with lower DPI.
3. Newer than the S3 and felt like it would be a while before it goes outdated, again it's partly because of the additional RAM which makes it feel future proof for the next year or so.
4. My wife has an S3 and I felt like since I'm bigger than her I should have a bigger phone
5. Because of the wider screen, the keys are bigger and it's more comfortable to type on with both thumbs.
6 . because I think I deserve the best!

Me too. I decided today to get Note 2 after 10 months of owning S3 and S4 seems not to be really big step ahead. Note 2 battery, RAM and screen FTW!
Screen, battery, RAM, in this order!
REALLY???

Unless you don't want a big screen phone, there isn't anything better about the S3 compared to the Note II. The Note II is better in every way possible. If you are truly on the fence about the two devices, then let me tell you to stop wasting you time comparing the S3 vs the Note II and start comparing the S4 vs the Note II.

Worth It?

Is selling my Nexus 4 for the Note 2 worth it? I highly doubt I need the Note 3 specs, so I might just settle to get a Note 2 and then the S5. What's a price I should pay for the Note 2 brand new? $450-$500?
Definitely worth note 2 in my opinion is still the top smartphone out just check out all the versus videos on youtube. The note 2 always comes out the winner

What about a price? I sold my S3 for the N4 and I miss my Touchwiz software.
Go for the Note 2

Just having the Note 2's screen size has made my experience with my new phone amazing. Yes, it is a little uncomfortable to text with but when I am stuck for hours somewhere, I put the Note on it's stand, lean way back, and watch a movie on a big ass screen.
You can still get aosp ROMs so you want be missing a thing from nexus 4. Bigger screen, bigger battery. Touchwiz, something you were looking for. Great phone. You'll get many ppl saying, its so big!!!! aha

Its a great phone. I bought mine off of craigslist for $450 with a otterbox defender. Brand new is still running above $700.00.
Paid 380 for a mint used last week off CL.
So if I go with something in mint condition, paying around $380-$450 is good? How about warranties, do they transfer over if someone were to sell a phone that's still under warranty?

is the Note the only Android phone with stylus on the market?

question in the title.
Are there any direct competitor to the Note line on the market? That is, phablet with stylus.
I believe LG G Pro Lite has stylus.
Thanks.
Seems there is no real competition to the Note II, guess I will get the Note IV for my next phone.
The xperia Z ultra has a special touchscheen that you can use with an actual pen or pencil.
But it's not a Wacom digitizer like with the Note series : no hovering, no pressure sensitivity and I suppose no palm rejection.

Note devices are definitively unrivaled with their stylus.
Other devices may work with some pen input but nothing compared with the complexity of S-Pen and it's programs.
Check out LG series. 2 of its applications are better than Note 2. Very important its for INR 17,000.
So go out compare it yourself hand in hand and then decide for yourself

Xperia ultra is not a stylus device because it's not a digitizer.
No one beat this BEAST anymore!
