I'll pay you to fix this. *PLEASE* - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Basic info:
- I'm on The People's Rom GS3.17
- I'm using KTweaker and running one of their profiles
- I'm ATTEMPTING to use Tasker to regulate Wifi home/out and data home/outside
So pretty much here's my problem:
I've attempted to use Taster to make sure Wifi is ON when im at home and OFF when i leave home (according to cell towers)
I've also tried to make sure Data/Wifi is OFF when screen is OFF and ON when screen is on.
But even if Tasker was working perfectly, this problem still persists and this is it:
1) When I use WiFi at home, every so often, it will just shut off (even if the screen is on) and it will revert to 3G
2) The only solution to this is to turn off Wifi, then turn it back on, and only THEN will it capture the SSID and connect to the internet.
Example shown below:

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

In the above picture, "InternetOnly" is the SSID for my university and yet, with Wifi enabled, it doesn't access the damn SSID and the internet! It is using 3G. In fact, when I click to connect to that SSID, it says "out of range" which is BS. Only when I reset the Wifi connection does it connect me to the internet/ssid. Exact same problem occurs with the SSID at home. Wifi policy is set to sleep "never" btw.
As for Tasker, this is what I'm using for automation which is failing epicly (I deleted the task about cell towers because it was getting annoying):
I THINK the problem would work if I stock resetted my phone using ODIN but I don't want to
Someone please help.

Sounds like the connection Optimizer is kicking in. Have you disable/unchecked it? It's in Settings>More Settings>Mobile Networks>Connection Optimizer
You can check out this thread here

It's not there for The People's Rom. IDK how to access it.

Did you try his zip?
Make sure of course that you back you system up first!

Okay so it happened again; I'm at home, and it was connected to WiFi, and now it's back to 3G even though WiFi is enabled. When I click to connect, it says "failed to connect to network" even though I'm literally a few feet from the router.

In TPR you have to freeze in Titbu just like you did good move. The settings have it removed because so many people where messing things up not knowing what they where doing.

Well so far I just flashed the .zip file and removed it altogether...let's see how it goes.

Any update on this? Just curious.

Yeah the update is that even after flashing the damn .zip, the WiFi still randomly disconnects from my SSID (even though the WiFi itself is enabled)
SUPER ANNOYING!!!

Should I just change the SSID? I heard sometimes it doesn't like upper-case letters and numbers.

2g,3g widget/switch??

Anyone know of any widget that will quickly switch between 2g and 3g networks?
Most of the time I leave it on 2g to save battery but when i need to use the internet to browse or search I have to go into the settings and switch it to 3g to surf the net then when i've finished switch back to 2g to save the battery again.
would be much more simple if there was a widget like the bluetooth, gps, wifi one that could quickly and easily be toggled.
There's a few on the marketplace - take a look at this one:
http://curvefish.com/widgets/2g3g-onoff.htm
There is one widget in the market called 2g/3g, you can find it by just searching for '2g' or '3g'. This widget sends you to the correct settings page, but you still have to change the band yourself.
This is the way it has to work in Android. I guess the api does not allow access to the setting directly from applications .
thanks just tried it.
Didn't work exactly how I wanted. opening the widget takes you to the network menu in settings and from there you still need to change it to 2g or 3g.....still quicker than my old way.
thanks
Yes, like I said there is no other way at the moment. Hope to see it in the future, loved that toggle on my HTC Touch HD.
what u can do is put widgets from settings on your home screen which allow you do easily switch from 2g to 3g, switch wi-fi and bluetooth on/off. See my screen below.

I think that the mobile switch you've shown turns off mobile internet, so rather than 2g or 3g it switches internet on or off.
there is no other option in the settings for Desire.

edge in an incement within 2G, 2.5. Going back to the first post, what babyshaq wants, as i understand is just use GSM singal. This is what the widget does. Edge does not add anything to your calls.
No, as stated before:
- He wants to switch from 3G to 2G through a widget (not possible)
- The widget you are suggesting turns off the mobile network
no it doesnt. it turns off 3g. trust me
Ok man whatever you want. When I flip that switch my mobile network connection is disabled, if I'm on the 3G or 2G band.
If you want to make things up, fine with me, enjoy yourself.
Sorry jaykayslo, you are simply wrong.
That widget turns of mobile data. It has nothing to do with switching between 2G and 3G whatsoever.
turn that widget off and go to the mobile network settings.
you'll see that the connect to the internet box has been unticked.
turn the widget on, and the box is ticked.
babyshaq, that widget on the market that takes you to the settings page is as close as you can get. It's not ideal, i grant you, but it's the best you can do.
Oh, and btw, GSM, GPRS and EDGE are ALL considered 2G technologies!
no biggie. i use it switch mobile data to save battery. Plain GSM is enought for calls. Don`t see the point in switching to gprs or edge, because data transfer is so small its not worth it.
Yea thanks guys. I understand its either a shortcut to the settings or completely turn it off.
I guess we'll have to wait it out and hopefully it will be developed in the future
You wrong, it turn off the mobile internet connection ... completely.
Trust me Or try it yourself!

Yes, EDGE is too slow for web browsing.

yes we have established that. Semantically there is nothing wrong with my statement. It turns of 3G doesn`t it? But it doesn`t switch to 2G, which is what was sought after.

[Q]Does Android Wifi Tether work on LTE?

Does anyone have Android Wifi Tether working when on LTE? I have been having the worst time trying to get this to work on the SGS3 (worked great on the EvoOG). Yesterday, I happened to be in an area that only had 3G coverage, and when I tried the wifi tether, it worked for the first time. A bit later, I was back in my normal coverage area and was back on LTE (4G) and the wifi tether stopped working again. It allows me to connect, and it sends traffic upstream, but it won't route it back down to my connected device (tried iPad 2 and laptop).
Regarding AWT settings, I have tried the usual settings (router fix checked, authentication enabled, SG Nexus CDMA/LTE, GSM, and other profiles that others have mentioned). No luck.

I'm with you on this one, my original Evo worked great but have had zero luck connecting with the S3 no matter what settings I choose.
I'm also having issues getting wifi tethering to work sometimes I have to force close to get it to work but on 3g and I have the latest beta

I'm almost positive that i used wifi tether on LTE about 2 weeks ago. I don't have LTE at work but i'll try again at home tonight and see if it still works. I'm using Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE) on wifi tether 3.1-beta14... still using the LF9 modem though.
first screenshot = wifi tether
second screenshot = speedtest website.. speedtest.net wasnt working for me so i googled for another
third screenshot = my motorola photon tethered to my gs3
anyways.. it works for me with the settings i listed above.. i think i followed qbking's tutorial
Ive been using this WiFi Tethering
do the install put model on auto select start WiFi there will be a pop up saying something like there is a new/update for are sgs3.
I haven't had any problems on 4g or 3g unless I'm in a area where I must be on the line of 4g/3g

I did this, but the first wifi install is just the android wifi tether project with a wrapper. It said it wouldn't work on my device, as you stated, and then prompted me to install regular open garden. I don't want my phone to be an open, unsecured wifi hotspot. So I guess I'm fooked unless I can find out why the qbking setup seems to work for some people, but not me and at least one other person in this thread.

I will agree i did use the same settings and I did accomplish a speedtest on my friends laptop using 4G LTE as my connection. Very fast i might ad 30Mbps down and 10Mbps up... Way faster than my cable here at the house.....
Ok, so I was able to resolve this by grabbing the latest beta from the project. The version in the play store, 3.1 v 14, just wasn't working right. The 3.2 pre1 version from the project page worked great. Anyone else having problems should grab the apk from the google pronect page. Here's the link.

I'm in LA, and LTE is not available yet.
i have spent entirely too much time on this tether app and this is because it was not working, but here is what i did which was a collection of things i read here but i had to mix the options up a bit
fist of all i just got this phone 3 days ago and i allowed it to do all updates like a fool
i rooted this 2 nights ago
i am running wifi tether 3.2-beta2
access control is off, sure i get msg once in a while but as soon as i turned this off it immediately loaded the page on my laptop
my profile is: Samsung galaxy nexus gsm, i know i know. im on sprint and its not gsm but this worked
setup method is: auto
it works quickly every time even after reboots of gs3, app and laptops

Wireless (WiFi) connectivity help

You can see I'm connected to ASUS-G but when I try to connect to the ASUS-N, it simply says Saved.
From the device settings, I have wifi band set to auto. I have tried 5 gz only.. Still get the same network saved, but does not connect.
Have other experienced this? If so, how did you rectify?
Did you walk through this topic? http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/this-is-probably-a-4-3-bug-but.16834/ Does it connect if you don't use a password on your network? Does it connect on a friends network (wireless N)?

Try Netflix over wifi, any issues?

Just recieved my G4 from T-Mobile. Factory fresh device here. When using the Netflix app while on wifi im recieving problems. Basically sometimes doesnt log me on at all. Then when i do switch to cellular data, it then works. Also the videos take longer then usual to start if it does start at all. I have the Note 4 right beside me connected to the same wifi, works without a problem. I did factory reset again to eliminate singular instances. Doesnt seem to effect the outcome. Anyone else with similar problems??
No issues for me on my Verizon G4 on Wi-Fi.
No issues for my tmo variant.
Does this issue replicate on other Wi-Fi networks as well?
I haven't used Netflix long on the G4 but when I was checking it out it seemed 100% fine. Logged in superfast and playback as well. I did testing vs my Note 2 and the G4 blew it away how fast everything was loading etc.
I had to turn off Wi-fi calling. I couldn't sign into Netflix with it on. Netflix is working fine for me with it off.

Not likely, in my case at least. The router in question is an ASUS RT-N16 running a Tomato variant with QoS rules that have been working flawlessly for me for two years. In addition, I wasn't even using Wifi calling, it was simply enabled. My N5, N7, and Galaxy S2 have no problems signing in. The error I received had to do with the network time. As soon as I disabled Wifi calling, the error resolved.
Turning off wifi calling worked. Thanks for the advice.
So after getting the replacement G4 in store my Netflix not working either without Wifi calling off. The old phone was able to play back fine with it on. Can anything else be tried. Since Wifi calling is a feature I use at my house since we have bad signal area and only use Netflix on Wifi so they both need to be working. I tried everything from Netflix chat will try a modem/router reboot again.
I did another factory reset and only connected the 5G wireless signal (thought maybe that was the issue) it worked right away but once google service updated again thats it wont work without Wifi calling off so...
Anyone other Tmobile users can test this or Netflix and say if they need to have Wifi Calling off or not ?
I do believe it's something with the Google Service update since I tried it again same issue. I did find out you don't have to turn Wifi Calling off but change it to Cellular Network Preferred instead of Wifi Preferred. It does work if you change it back to Wifi sometimes but only if the video is preloaded but it's hit or miss if it works but if you play another video you will have to change it back to Cell or Off.
WiFi + "WiFi Calling" + NetFlix does not work
I had the same problem with my new "LG G4" phone. If connected to WiFi and the "Wi-Fi Calling" feature is enabled then I get these NetFlix app errors:
- Please make sure that your device has network connectivity and the Date and Time settings are acurate (-3)
or
- Sorry, we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please visit the Netflix website (12001).
I tested on multiple very high quality WiFi networks.
The workaround was to:
- Disable "Wi-Fi Calling" when using WiFi and NetFlix
or
- Don't use WiFi, instead use T-Mobile's cellular data network
Thanks but look @ Sfkn2 post at the top member is with Tmobile and said no problems. I replied around that time no issues but now I have the problems. Yes those are the errors.
Someone is to blame and they all just want to point fingers at each other. It's on Tmobile to fix this and that probably won't happen.

Yes that's what strange that I had 1 of them working on it but both don't now unless I change to Cellular Network Preferred . Can you tell me if your on a 5GHz or 2.4GHz connection or if both work and then your Router model. The connection shouldn't matter much since I had it working on both and found the 5GHz was strong enough to use in most my house and was using that most of the times. Might try changing the channels or something.
I have the Asus RT-AC68U (not the Tmobile one) I bought this just after release.
Streaming to my phone using the Emby app from my Emby server works fine as well.
I know we have a work around to atleast Stream but need to get this sent to the right places for a fix.

Netgear N600 - model WNDR3400V3.
Makes no difference whether it's 2.4 or 5. Dynamic IP setting. QOS option is off.
I posted the issue over at http://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/3bedec/lg_g4_netflix_not_working_with_wifi_calling/ and got a response from a Tmobile Employee which I believe is on the Engineering side. They are going to report the issue so it's a start to see if they can fix it.

6.0.1 and keep WiFi on during sleep (never) issue

I have been using the "never" option under "keep WiFi on during sleep" in advance WiFi settings for the last couple Android versions on my last couple devices and have never had a issue. WiFi will disconnect when the device is in sleep/doze mode and when I wake the device it automatically reconnects.
Since the latest Android update (MMB29K) my WiFi will disconnect but when a wake the device it does not reconnect. I view the WiFi networks available and there are none until I toggle WiFi on and off and it reconnects.
I have also noticed that when I leave my WiFi network range and then return it does not automatically reconnect either until I toggle WiFi on and off.
My WiFi was working fine before the latest update (MDB08M)
I am running stock system and patched kernel with systemless root SuperSU 2.62-3 unencrypted.
I have tried reflashing the radio, boot, system but does not fix the issue.
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this issue? I haven't tried going back to complete stock without root and being encrypted because I don't want to unencrypt my data again and I prefer my system rooted but am almost at the point of testing that.
If anyone has any ideas on how to correct this feel free to share your advice.
Thanks in advance!
Yeah I have the same issue that when wifi on during sleep is set to "only when plugged in" (which significantly improves my stand-bye battery drain) the phone doesn't connect to my wifi or show any of the surrounding networks until I toggle wifi off and on again. I'm running stock 6.0.1.
I've got no idea how to fix it though...
same on my side with stock 6.0.1
i had to change wifi settings to "always on" in order to avoid this problem.
Hi i had the same problem to but have no idea on fix.
every android release brings a wifi problem... it starts to be really annoying
Same problem here. I was rooted, but after flashing everything back to stock, problem persists. Hope this gets fixed quickly...I often forget to switch wifi off and on again, so I send a lot of unecessary data traffic through the mobile net
so you have tried to factory reset, and the problem is still there?
that would avoid me to perform a factory reset for nothing...

I'm having same issue after the update, i.e., my phone is not connected to a familiar network, unless I toggle the WiFi off then back on.
Thanks all for replying. Sounds like it's a bug. Hopefully Google patches it in the next security update.
I have the same issue, but I need to reboot my Nexus to fix wifi connection. Toggle off/on doesn't help...
i'm very worry, this problem is very hard.
how i solve it?
I've had success with Wi-Fi reconnecting after first loss of signal even when set to "only when plugged in". I had to enable Wi-Fi scanning under Settings > Google > Location > [...] > Scanning > Wi-Fi scanning. I'd be interested to hear if this works for others...
I found with the February security update that the WiFi will connect and disconnect but not if it goes into deep sleep/dose mode. If it is in sleep mode for an extensive period of time it will not reconnect. Works fine on the N7(2013). I did see a ticket started and Google marked it as complete/fixed.
Maybe March update will fix it ?
Any feedback on March update fixing this issue? ?
not fixed at all... ?
at least last update improve general performances
Still not fixed after April update. #grrrrrr

Same issue here and reported three times via feedback: do the same, maybe they'll listen!
edit: I made a post on the google product forum page https://goo.gl/PdIQlz
