Do NOT use sim card adapter! - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

if you have nano sim and want to use it in s4, do not try to be adapted to support sim kills(some clips). go to the phone operator to change it with MICROSIM(sory for my english)

May I know what will happen if one were to do so?

adapter will break some clips on sim suport and phone dont see your sim.you will have to go to service.

Everything works perfect with nanosim to microsim adapter in my GS4m. You just need to be careful and use a good quality adapter!

Agreed. I think it isn't an issue with using a sim card adapter - you can probably break the clips if you aren't careful using a standard microsim as well.

do not use sim card adapter!
i second this! i had a nano simcard and purchased an adaptor after the 1st time it went in ok and needed to use the sim in a different phone for holiday came back and went to change sim card back and after swearing and being as careful as i could the sim came out the adaptor and got stuck it had bent the sim contacts. its currently being repaired by samsung. under warranty i dont know lol as ive not heard back and they seem to be going ahead with the repair.

Sorry to drag an old thread up but it's just happened to my good old Desire HD.. pulling the sim and adaptor out also pulled the sin contacts out and one's now snapped off.. Just a warning to people.

My nano sim worked just perfectly without an adapter. Just slide it in right and it works.

I can confirm, even though I haven't used a nano to micro sim adapter. The clips are very sensitive, I nearly broke one by inserting a custom cut micro-sim. Luckally a needle and some tweaking solved the issue.

So I thought I'd try soldering a tiny shaped bit of metal onto the bit that was left but the solder wouldn't take and I'm a little reluctant to try any more as I'm no doubt going to knacker the phone.
I thought I'd try super glueing a bit to it next.. what's people's thoughts on that? Is it going to cause any other problems? Possibly getting too warm and the glue melting and sticking to other parts?

The problem is you need to becareful when putting the sim into the phone or removing it, that is the cause of it, if using a adapter always stick a small piece of cellotape at the back of the sim and adapter, this will hold the sim in the adapter.

..:::HTC Rhodium SIM READER PINS DAMAGED - WONT READ SIM CARD:::..

I damaged(torn off) two of the pins from the sim card reader under the battery from the T-Mobile Touch Pro 2, while taking the sim card out (its a pain taking it out)
now it will not read the sim cards...
PLAN A) i will try to convince HTC to replace it under HTC's manufacturer Warranty...
PLAN B) buy another T-Mobile Touch pro 2 cheap damaged and swap the mainboards, or buy the mainboard if possible alone...
PLAN C) fix it myself by replacing it with one from eBays "Blackberry Curve Card Holder"
PLAN D) leave it on my desk until the dust covers it, and i no longer remeber of the phone...LOL..
so anyone else damaged the sim reader or any other part of the phone???
and yes, i will post pictures of the phone...and the progress of the fix(if i fix it)...and that is not the actual picture,...its a FCC pic. that is where the sim reader is....if i choose to fix it, i think i don't even have to unscrew the back housing since i can even see the solder connections with the battery removed
Hey, how did you damaged them? I have just realised that I have the same problem in one of my xperia x1. When I look at sim slot I can see two pins which looks different from the others and from this in my second (working) xperia. Now I am thinking how to get to them.
I'd like to hear the "ran over" story...
After 7 months of daily heavy usage
Nothing really, only a few minor scratches here and there, that´s it

Micro SIM card + adapter on Arc S...

Hello,

I use micro sim in my Arc wthout the adaptor,as long as you get it the right place it should be ok

ooh, really?! and how does it keep in the right place without moving? I mean... standard sim slot present in our Arc / Arc S is much wider than the micro sim!
lick and stick.

all sim cards are the same thickness so it wont move, you know the metal strip going across the sim tray, when you insert the microsim you want it centre to to the strip and equal distance either side.

Got it, thanks! I just was wondering if the SIM moves while I insert/use it and short circuits may happen and damage the circuitry...
if you clumsy enough, i wouldn`t suggest to use any micro sim card in any regular phone a lot of people do brake their expensive devises cause of microsim adapters
but mine works fine just in this way
For a free micro sim adapter, order a giffgaff sim below as it comes as a microsim inside a normal sim so you can either use the new sim or use it as a template to cut your old sim to size.

[Q] micro sim to mini sim adapter

has anybody purchased a working Micro sim to mini sim adapter? I have an S3, but i want to have the option to switch to my S1 (Captivate) when i need to. I searched the forums and somebody found This , but a bunch of comments said that the card can ruin the sim pins.
Has anybody bought his or her own and can vouch for them? Link me please.
Thank you!

I had and iPhone 5 that uses a nano sim so I bought the kit that you see there...the only thing you have to becarful
with is that when you put in you sim card you have to make sure it doesn't drop out of it's adapter or you will definitely ruin
your pins...what I did so it would not not fall out I used a tiny spec of tape just to hold it there....

Its a bit hard to visualize what you just said. Could you take a picture of it?
I think he means to secure the sim in the adapter he used a bit of tape on the back of them so it wouldnt come out of the adapter and get lodged in the iphone?? Good tip btw but be sure its not tight when u put it in due to the extra tape

If it helps... I bought a microsim-minisim adapter at a booth at my local mall but it wasn't of very good quality. I bought a few from this site ( http://www.nano-sim-adapter-shop.com ) and they are much better! The corners (where you drop the microsim in) have little landing spots for the microsim to sit on. I didn't need to use tape with it, but a little tape (very thin tape) will help keep it in place even more

Okay and what i need to go from a micro sim to a mini sim (S3 to Cappy) is the 3rd option down (MicroSIM to SIM Adapter), right?
Also, as a note to everybody else: Thanks for your help! Appreciate it!

Damaged golden pins in sim tray

Hello, I accidentally damaged my sim tray and now only one of five sim cards works. I put crappy nano sim adapter in tray and when I pull it out, adapter rip off one golden pin. There were three and now is only one.
Is it something which is repairable?
Whoaes! That aints no goods..
DO you still have the pin? You night be able to work it back into the hole and have it connect well enough to be used again.
Otherwise, you can look online for Gnex parts and attempt to replace the component that holds the sim card. But if you are really stuck, you might be advised to either take it to a professional for repair, or replace the phone entirely with a new model. Either a different, phone, or another Gnex, which you should be able to find used all over the place.\
I really don´t need that phone, I have new one few months, but I want to sell it. Maybe I would find someone who will buy damaged phone but hoped that it is not as bad.
It ´s sad, beside this the phone is in excelent condition
One thing, some sim card work like normal and other sim card from differetn operator is not recognized.

Sim card not being read...

I've scoured the internet for a replacement video on the sim tray. these parts are 6$ on ebay but it seems to be soldered to the motherboard. No idea where to go from here. I flashed a rom thursday and i thought it was the radio on the rom but i went back to my backup and it's not. and i can see the pins missing on the sim tray. Anyone know an easy way to replace this?

Also, a word of warning: a $5 sim card adapter isn't worth using in a $500 phone. i have the moto x and would switch back and forth and the connecting pins finally broke. googling it, i now see its not an uncommon issue. just no replacement video.
