[Q] RE [RECOVERY][ROOT] Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE (GT-I9195) - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All I have a new S4 mini (I9195 UK Vodafone) that I am trying to root but odin keeps stalling at getting pit for mapping.
I have tried all the methods in the main post by arco68, plus any others I have come accross.
The phone works and boots into download and recovery modes, is my bootloader locked?

Can Odin detect your phone? Try installing the latest Samsung USB Drivers.

Yes Odin detects my phone and i have the latest drivers

That sounds odd. Maybe some other Vodafone users can confirm whether they have successfully rooted their mini.

My old xperia arc s from them had the bootloader locked.

Sorry to bump but are there no vodafone uk users to confirm successful rooting ?

I have successfully rooted my s4 mini using the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 method and I am on Vodafone. It's not a vodafone branded phone though, is that what you mean?

Hello yes it's a contract phone

Hi o/
Hopefully you guys can help me, a noob (video just said I was one lol).
I was about to follow the rooting steps from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 but I noticed that my phone is called I9195T instead of I9195. Its firmware is I9195TDVUAMH1 as opposed to I9195XXUAMH1 mentioned in that thread.
Can I still follow those rooting steps, or are those devices different in some significant way? My google-fu failed to find any info about how "T" is different.
Thanks!

try again

[Q] [Request Help] New to Samsung and Odin

I'll get to the point, I wanted to root my Note 2 since i was very excited to have it. But after root i noticed i couldnt access phone memory it said i had -10????????????? bytes something along those lines. And i couldnt even access my sd card even when plugged to computer. So i decided to flash a stock rom, this is where the problem is, I'm new to odin and samsung so i have no idea what i was doing and i messed up my phone.I can only get into download mode everything else says to try kies recovery again.
I've checked many threads and tried following the steps they give but odin just gives me fail fail fail. It's a headache.
Anyone willing to help in this matter? I have the Galaxy Note II GT-N7100.
Apologies for making this long and not sure if this is the correct place to post this thread, just need help. Thank you.

Hi Dr Ketan, I know nothing about my note 2 but what I do know is that I have an N7105T (LTE) variant because I live in Australia.
Basically what I would like to do is to take off the official Australian rom that is on my note 2 and put on the official Philippines rom instead.
I want to do this because I cannot control the shutter sound on this rom, and Samsung has removed the radio app which I used all the time, also the contact pictures do not exist in the official messaging app (not ghosts they're not there at all). I would like all of these functions on my phone and my friend who bought one from the Philippines online has all of these functions.
I have downloaded odin 3.7 and I have the samsung drivers installed.
could you or anyone please tell me where I have to go to download the correct Philippines N7105 rom from and then give me a step by step on how to back and and flash the new rom?
Thanks so much, please asume I know nothing and include all steps no matter how minor!
Read first post of link i said, there is link for n7105 same kind of thread.
You may get rom there or find on sammobile.com

If you can access download mode, it's nothing serious.
Head into http://sammobile.com or http://samsung-updates.com and look for your phone's model name. They have firmware for pretty much any device so hopefully they have some for yours.
So the only thing that freaks me out is all these region codes... I dont see one for USA...Now what lol

I have the exact same phone and the exact same problem. Kies (via USB) recognizes there is a SPH-L520 connected but won't actually connect to it. I asked Samsung for the appropriate drivers (none are listed on the webpage for the device) but Samsung says there aren't any drivers for the SPH-L520. Kies does connect my SPH-L520 and my PC via WiFi, though. And, despite having enabled Developer Mode and USB Debugging, Kingo fails every time. Any ideas?
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
It is also where Kingo originally got their method from, I wouldn't trust them too much if I were you. The best thing about the above method is, if it can't root the phone, it won't touch anything. If it can - it won't trigger the Knox. I tried on my JB 9190 and works. Unless you have a locked bootloader... that would complicate things.
hello guys is there a way to unlock samsung gs4 sprint to gsm been searching around cant find a good answer cos the phone seems to have a sim slot. also can it be flashed to cdma if the gsm potion wont work. thanks

If you're on NA7 as a few of us seem to be, you're screwed I believe unless someone comes up with a recovery we can flash through odin or kies. I would like to be wrong about that, but I haven't found otherwise.

It's the version of software we're on. Still JB 4.2.2, but the last Ota under the guise of updating Spark also included Knox which is not allowing us to root through the Saferoot method.

The stinkers! I thought I read that Sprint was coming out with an upgrade to JB4.3 for us S4 Mini users, but it hasn't been pushed to my phone yet like the WiFi calling upgrade was. Think that might alleviate the Knox-blocks problem if/when it occurs?

Why would that alleviate it? Knox is here to stay. Very doubtful any update is going to remove it. Lately it's all about locking things down.

Of course. I flashed back to the original firmware by ODIN after soft bricking.
I must find a way to root my Galaxy POP.
I9305 vs. POP
Correct me if I'm wrong: Samsung I9305 Galaxy S III also known as Samsung GALAXY S III LTE is similar to galaxy POP with only one difference: the internal memory of POP is only 8GB compared to 16GB of I9305.
Being that said, can I use root methods of I9305 to root POP?
Root SHV-E220S Android 4.4.4
I found a solution. Please refer to the following link for a working root method:

Hey sorry didn't get the email about your response. I actually tried every method I could find(including that one) and they all just leave me with eu.supersu.com (or something like that) installed but crashing everytime I launch it. I'm doing it from completely stock. I flash the stock Rom back on through Odin after each failed attempt. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Also I have rooted a few phones before so I do know relatively what I'm doing.
This is what I followed

Have you tried Framaroot? I really have almost no experience with the note 2, and I read here that the rooting method of choice is Chainfire's as terpin32 suggested, but the Framaroot thread does list the note 2 as a supported device. Do you know what bootloader you have? If it is locked, I don't know if this works.

I'm a bit confused as to why you are having issues rooting your Note 2. I have the Rogers Note 2 i317m and it was on the same firmware and rooted it without any issues using the link I provided and from the looks of it you even tried methods that are better. I wonder what other factors may be affecting your rooting processes.
Where does the process fail and on which rooting instructions?

Well they all appear to successfully root the phone but when the phone reboots I get an app(titled eu.supersu.com or something like that) that crashes immediately every time I launch it with most of the methods. A few methods gave me a working supersu app but no su binary. I'm really getting frustrated oh I'm also on Rogers I don't think I mentioned that. Maybe I should try factory reset in it in case any apps are causing the problem.

Just figured i'd let you guys know I finally worked up the nerve to factory reset(i hate doing it) and it fixed the problems i was having.I also had to manually reinstall the supersu apk after rooting.

[Q] US Cellular S4 Mini 4.4.2 - help with root please

I just got the us cellular s4 mini sch-r890 and immediately update to 4.4.2. I have been spending most of my free time looking for root instructions but I have only seen instructions for the international versions of the phone. If anyone has info on how to root, it would be greatly appreciated. This is my first post so apologies if I placed this in the wrong forum. I am having problems rooting my phone. I tried a 1 click meathod, checked the roit wirh an app and it says not properly rooted. The next time I typed root int my browser(not chrome) my net started lagging, got dumped off pages. I downloaded the xda app then tried to get the labs upgrade and my phone restarted. (The apk) The dll is in my notifications as I write this. Does google block attempts to root devices? I am not worried about voiding my non existent warranty on my S4 mini. Help please.
