Fonts without apps - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to install and change font for my note 2 without installing apps like flipfont and others. These kinds of app available on play store have started pushing ads and font app is the last thing that i want to push ads. Please suggest.

download the apk from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176490....if you are using stock rom from settings, display, font style change the fonts from the list...

You can search for the specific font you like in Google. You will find them as a flashable zip that can be flashed from recovery without the need for an app. (This is assuming you are rooted, not on stock tw based rom) I found "roboto thin" this way
If u want another way, a clean app is "font installer" it will allow you to install fonts from its list as well as saved on your SD card in .TTF format
If looking for fonts in TTF. Format you can find them at website like "font squirrel" for example

Fontomizer, is it safe for SGY?

i want to change stock font
but i just want to be sure if
it is safe to use fontomizer
on my SGY?
im running 2.3.6 stock rom (DXKK4)
it would be a great help, tia.
Yap. Ive used it but if you want the manual way but better. Coz doing it manually lets you install a font u really want unlike fontomizer it just have presets

i'd prefer font changer if your phone is rooted, its more customizable
yes.. and i love ubuntu font. try it.
Use "Custom android font switcher", works like a charm.
What more, it has no bugs like fonts slightly placed higher than its supposed to be. It is the only app i came across (pardon me, I'm not a pro in this topic, just my experience) which replacess each and erey font in your phone, even the keyboard fonts will be changed.
thanks for the advice guys,
ill try one.. ayos!
i used font installer by jrummy and fontomizer several times... so far they are safe and worked
font installer needs root tho
Some wont work on custom roms
HERE's a SMALL GUIDE FOR CHANGING FONTS MANUALLY - ROOTED
1. download the font you want. (*.ttf)
2. make 3 copies of that font.
3. rename them by the ff:
DroidSans.ttf
DroidSans-Bold.ttf
Clockopia.ttf
4. Go to system/font and replace the fonts namely the ones stated above
**i mean delete the old fonts named DroidSans.ttf, DroidSans-Bold.ttf, Clockopia.ttf annd replace them with the one you renamed.
5. reboot. and VOILA

Fontomizer works great on my SGY... However, I have read some posts that "Font Changer" app would cause your phone to go on a boot loop.
I recomend Custom android font changer from market

changing fonts in 4.1.1 JB

so i found a way to change the arabic fonts back in the ICS roms and it was working fine
but after i updated my Gnexus to jelly bean 4.1.1 i did the same old method to change the arabic font but it did not work
the method in ICS was to copy the same .ttf font file to 3 copies and rename them to :
1-DroidNaskh-Regular.ttf
2-GS45_Arab_AndroidOS.ttf
3-DroidSansArabic.ttf
and after that i have to change the permissions and restart
so i did the same in jelly bean but its not working after some research on the net i was able to understand that whole fonts thing in JB
so i copied the same .ttf font to 2 copies and renamed them to :
1-DroidNaskh-Regular.ttf
2-DroidNaskh-Regular-SystemUI.ttf
changing the permissions again , restart and it did changed my arabic fonts but its a mess up and its now unreadable :crying:
my device is GSM 4.1.1 stock + root and CWM
and i uploaded the arabic font ( .ttf + .apk ) that i want to change in case someone could make me a flash-able zip
any help would be appreciated ...
its all fixed up now
apparently it was a problem in the font it self

I need help with changing the system fonts as well, I used to use TypeFresh when I was on Gingerbread and it'd work flawlessly. After getting my Gnex, I tried that same app again and it bricked my phone, I had to restore it. Any suggestions as to how I can do this without manually having to replaced files?
I've read Font Changer works, but based on the app info in the play store, it only supports 4.0, not 4.1
Thanks
ROM TOOLBOX app has a working fine change font feature but it does not not have any Arabic fonts. If you can get the fonts on your own you can place them on sd card and apply them in rom toolbox!. I tried few ones myself like almohanad and Arabic font was changed to almohanad but system ui did not look good and spaces between lines were much bigger that long app names did not show half of the second line in the app drawer and I restored back system fonts using rom toolbox

Hey.
I recently upgraded from LewaOS (cm7.2 based) to cm10. I liked LewaOS' font so much that extracted it from the .zip. The odd thing is the same font that was working flawlessly inside the rom, does not joint Arabic letters in Windows and in cm10. Any suggestion?

[Q] Can I add new display fonts?

Can I add new fonts to the system, and if so, what kind (I'm assuming TrueType?) and which folder should they go into?
thanks in advance

The are two ways to do this:
1. Use system feature available in Settings/display/fonts
You can downloadd some font package from there (maybe even for free), or better yet, there is a thread with lots of installable font packages somewhere on xda, (try searching for "eigene flipfonts" or just "flipfonts"). No root required, just install the apk, and choose your new font from the settings.
2. Use one of the apps like "font installer", which will substitute system fonts in system/fonts folder with the ones of your choosing. Root required.

Make Nandroid backup, then download font installer on play store. If you facing bootloop, just restore your Nandroid backup.

If you are using android 4.4.2 means obviously you are on CM rom. So, if you want change fonts on this Custom Roms like AOSP or AOKP and others then download the app from below link. It provides you number of paid as well as free fonts. it also provides changing features like styles, icon packs,Attached a screenshot of it.
