Transfer photos from SD-CARD? - Nexus 7 (2013) Accessories

Hi
I don't have yet the new Nexus 7 but I'm waiting for it's availability to get one. My plan is to use it to view photos I do when I travel. For the Samsung Tab2 I have an USB kit to mount the card reader and so view/edit the photos. Is there something like that to the Nexus 7?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

A USB OTG cable should work for that.

I use the transcend usb 3.0 card reader with the otg cable and Nexus media importer. All of this and I can view/transfer my pictures.

Thank you! I've been thinking about picking one up, just ordered two!
Hell it was only a dollar so I picked one up too. Thanks!
ditto.
I also bought one of these:

little bitty microUSB-USB reader. I'd probably only use the OTG cable for emergencies.

How do you make it work? Will it read USB Flash drives?
What about plugging in an external hard-drive? Working?

If the kernel that you're using supports NTFS. It can.
Thank you! I've just ordered one!
You also will probably need to use StickMount from the market.

This was perfect for 99 cents! Thanks OP.
I got it in the mail yesterday and it works flawlessly. I've noticed that only Microsoft USB Keyboards and Mouses work so far...

Does Anyone Make A Plug In SD/MSD Reader?

I already have a USB that plugs into the Nexus so I can drop a flash/thumb drive into it. Do they make a dedicated Micro SD or SD reader?
(I know I can plug an adapter into the USB but that's an extra part I could lose.)
This is what I use and probably your beat option

The only problem is that the usb host mode drains the battery a lot.

I'm wondering if the battery drain is better in JB. What does everyone else use?

I do not know the details but look into stickmount. I've never used it but it sounds like what you need.

Will this work with the Nexus 7

I found this Micro USB OTG to SD Card Reader For Samsung GT-N7000 Galaxy Note i9100 S2 SII 2 and was wondering if this would work on my rooted nexus 7?

I have a cheap otg cable that works perfect for my nexus 7 and gs3. And by perfect I mean perfect. I wanted to push the limits with it on my s3 and n7, with out any apps or putting any settings in I ran a 4 port USB hub with a wireless mouse, wired keyboard and an 8gig pen drive from both the nexus and the galaxy. Both can read a 1tb hard drive too as long as it has its own power supply. So far the only I can't get to run nicely is the HP printer my partner has but yeah I got mine for $8 with a free case, and everything runs as soon as its plugged it.
Good luck!!
PS
If you can get a right angle one. I regret not getting one it would be easier to use and hide then.

OTG Cable recommendations

I already have one but whilst it works fine with my Nexus 7 it doesn't work with my Galaxy S3, when I plug it in and also my Samsung portable HDD and stickmount pro it appears to recognise the HDD but i cant view my files so I'm thinking it must be a case of the OTG cable isn't compatible with the Galaxy S3, so I'm wondering if you folks can recommend one for me that works fine.
Thanks

EDIT
The OTG cable works now with my Galaxy S3, just out of curiosity I flashed Siyah kernel again as I remember reading something about ntfs, plugged the HDD in, clicked on stickmount and low and behold I can see all my music, photos, files, etc so I'm delighted the cheap otg cable I bought on Amazon works with both my Galaxy S3 and Nexus 7
