[Q] Regarding " [RECOVERY][ROOT] Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-I9195)" flash stock rom
Thanks for posting this tutorial! I was able to successfully root my S4 Mini. However, I've found that (for various reasons) it might be more suitable for me to go with the Stock ROM (at least for now). Could someone please kindly explain to me how I can reset the phone to its original state? Preferrably including resetting the counter, if possible.
Thank you!

So basically you have rooted your phone and upgraded with a custom rom (CM10.1) and want to revert back to original firmware? As you only mentioned "successfully rooted" in your post.
Just put your device into download mode (hold vol down+homekey+power) upon booting.
Connect your phone to a pc with a cable and start Odin.
Follow the same steps as you did with flashing CWM but instead choose your stock firmware at the "PA" option (unzipped .m5d file) & don't forget to uncheck 'F reset time' before the process.
You can flash roms (CM->Updated CM) through CWM without the need of a pc, but i'm not sure it'll work when downgrading to original stock roms. So for now your best bet is through Odin.
Stock Firmwares can be found at: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9195
Make sure you pick the correct region, check your device info (system) for your baseband version if needed.

I did not flash any custom rom. I'd like to "unroot" the phone and just go back to 100% stock. I'm sorry for the confusion, this is my first time doing this. Thanks for your help!

Flashing stock rom and root
Hi,
noob here and rooted my mini according to acro's post.
I would like to ask if I flash back to original rom, will I stick have root access?
And the next question is about OTA updates, with the sotck rom will I be able to get OTA updates? Currently I cannot access the software update on the phone, it says the software has been modified.
Many thanks.

If you go back to stock rom you'll have to do the rooting process all over.
And yes you will be able to use ota upgrade iirc. If not, see If the latest stock is available from the sammobile-updates website.

If you reroot OTAs wont work a you mentioned. The phone detects root and gives you the message that you modified your device. But OTA over Kies should work. If not there is Odin.

[Q] How downgrade to 4.1.1 from 4.3?

Is there a way to downgrade the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 from 4.3 to 4.1.1 firmware because I've been foolish enough to flash a 4.3 custom ROM without making a backup of the EFS. The phone has a service provider sim lock, so I need to downgrade to 4.1.1 or is there any work around to sim unlock my note2 on 4.3 without rollback the firmware to 4.1.1?
EDIT:
I'm currently using my Note2 outside the origin of the phone which is the Philippines, I'm currently residing in Manama Bahrain.
You can try to find the newest version for your phone, country and carrier on http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
I have not tried to downgrade with Odin, but I'm guessing it would work.
efs restoring query??
hello everyone, i ve a efs backup, backedup wen im running on 4.3 (xxuemj5). is it possible to go back to 4.1.2 (N7100XXDMB2) and restore tat backup (backed up on 4.3)? i had a prob (" not registered on a network") last time wen i went back to 4.1.2.
thanks in advance-
I don't need the newest one, I need to find a firmware with a sim unlock app compatibility.
Then download the last version that worked for you.

I wanted to downgrade to a lower version of the N7100 firmware, preferably 4.1.1 since I need the sim unlock. The phone is locked to a Philippine telecom, I'm currently asituated overseas - I want to use the phone overseas, hence, the need for the sim unlock is dire.
EDIT:
One more thing, the EFS backup and nandroid backup got deleted when I wiped(accidentally) the sd card.

Yes, what I did was;
Enter download mode > Flash a custom recovery (It was TWRP in my case) > Reboot > Flash a 4.1.2 based ROM
*I was quite lucky though since I flashed a ROM with a separate zip for the new modem, I got stuck in the process of a full reboot after flashing the ROM. Whence, this should be the sequence I'm supposed to do to make the ROM work;
Full wipe > Flash ROM > Reboot > Go on with setup > Wait for the boot sequence to finish > Reboot > Flash newer modem > Reboot
*I got stuck on the first reboot routine*

another issue regarding the downgrade
Hi,
my N7105 is rooted, 4.3 is installed, knox had been installed but was deleted using Titanium backup. Now i want to flash it back to 4.1.2 again, but:
odin doesn't recognize the phone, i don't have any files to try flashing it via recovery mode and the official update function doesn't work, because it's rooted. I also don't know, if flashing via the recovery mode would work at all.
Am i bound to 4.3 forever?
Generally i simply want to downgrade to 4.1.2 as i can't see any advantage in 4.3 or -if possible- would like to try cyanogen
Best regards

Flash stock rom - Keep Root & CWM

Hello, I am currently rooted and have CWM 6.0.4.3. installed. I'm on CM11 but want to go back to stock.. Is there an easy way to keep root and go back to stock. Want stock for a few functions that ROMS dont seem to be offering but can keep root and CWM ??
Thanks.
Which phone do you have? You could try flashing a pre-rooted stock ROM via Odin. Then use Odin to flash CWM.
Bt its better to firstly install ur stock rom and then again root it as it takes no longer than 5 mins

Ok perfect, thats what I was looking for. Phone btw is S3 - d2att - SGH i747) Sounds good to install the stock rom and re-root.. I'm sure its here but I have searched everywhere to find a tutorial on this and I cannot find a straight answer.
Would you mind giving me the steps or pointing me to a thread that explains how to and has the files in need to download ?

Do you know if there is a step by step on this somewhere ? I dont mind going back to complete stock.. I can just re-root and flash CWM after.
OR
Maybe you could just answer the bigger question : the reason I want to go back to stock is I need to use MHL/HDMI which CM11 doesnt support. I dont want to go back to stock, I would rather even go to another ROM that supports mhl/hdmi.. but if I have to go to stock, than so be it.?
Were you running the stock AT&T 4.3 ROM before you switched to CM11?

Yes, I bought the phone new and was running stock, Canadian Rogers version and had changed to CM10, then to 11.

Since you installed a custom recovery, that would have tripped the Knox counter which voids the warranty. It's not a problem if the phone is working properly.
Did you update to 4.3 or did it come with 4.3?
You may be better off installing a pre-rooted ROM.

It was quite some time ago but I believe I was on ICS 4.0.. and switch to CM from there. Im not worried about the counter for warranty, that's expired on my unit anyways. I just want to be able to use MHL/HDMI function.. so if fine with flashing pre-rooted.. or stock.. or a different ROM that support MHL/HDMI. Can you recommend the easiest route ?

I asked about 4.3 because the 4.3 bootloader cannot be downloaded. Flashing via mobile Odin will not touch the bootloader or modem.
You could try a pre-rooted rom and then flash a custom recovery via Odin.
I use Philz Touch from here: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2att

Ok thanks, I will do that. 1 thing I'm not quite sure of is the bootloader situation ? In the first tutorial there is a note : Flashing a prior bootloader can hard/soft brick your device. How do I know ?
I see the steps as:
Extract tar file you downloaded.
Use Odin, put phone into download mode [with phone off, hold vol. down + home + power ], connect to computer and open Odin.
once in odin click the PDA field and select the tar file
Leave Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checked.
click start and when done let phone reboot.
If you just want a stock, rooted phone with no custom recovery, no plans to flash custom roms, etc. then you can stop HERE.
For my situation, is it just that easy ?
Before flashing, verify the version of your bootloader.

You mentioned your have the i747 and Rogers. Do you have the AT&T s3 (i747) or Rogers/Bell/Telus s3 (i747m)?
What is the most recent stock ROM you had on your phone?
Hey. I got the i747m. As for what was the last stock ROM I had, can't say. I know when I bought the phone it was ICS and I had received and update to jellybean.. But them went to cm10. The tutorial I followed told me had me back everything up, which I did. Have it in a file somewhere on my comp, would that tell me ?

If you are flasjing back to stock you should flash back to the same baseband/bootloader that came stock on your phone.
I'm looking for a stock rooted zip for the sasktel i747m (MF1) that i can flash in CWM....I need to go back to stock to fix a data issue that ive encountered through flashing these new d2lte builds...
Does anyone know if a cwm flashable stock rooted rom exists for Sasktel's i747m with baseband MF1 ???I already have the Odin flashable stock rooted zip but don't have a laptop handy until tuesday....And im pretty sure i cant flash that zip in cwm recovery....

If you are sure you have the Rogers i747m and you have never loaded a stock Rogers 4.3 ROM onto your phone, you could use desktop Odin to flash a pre-rooted 4.1.2 ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426.
Flashing the pre-rooted 4.1.2 ROM will return the phone to completely stock, wipe out all installed apps and data, and you will have root. I do not recommend flashing the Rogers 4.3 pre-rooted ROM from the link.
Once you are able to boot into the phone and set things up, you can flash Philz Touch from Odin which will give you a custom recovery on a rooted stock 4.1.2 ROM.

[Q] Installing JB or Kitkat on i8160P XXLK3 with GB

Hi all,
I have been strugling for months to get JB or KitKat running on my i8160p XXLK3. The stock rom is on GB 2.3.6 and it is repeatedly soft bricked for some reason.
I have tried:
- Flash Clockworkmod 6
- TeamCanjica 4.4.2 i8160p rom (radio is disabled and cannot be enabled)
- McClaw 4.4.3 roms (imei is lost, so no phone signal)
- DBT-I8160pxxmg2 german stock rom for 4.1.2 (which doesn't even flash: install aborted)
I have always been forced to flash back to clockworkmod 5 with Odin to be able to recover my GB rom.
I have seen other users with the i8160p (and even XXLK3) to be running kitkat or JB. I haven't been able to find a proper way to achieve that though.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what you are hinting at, but I don't have any issues with the FM radio... I have issues with the GSM network to connect:
- With 4.4.2 TeamCanjica i8160p ROM the network settings are extremely slow. Sometimes networks appear, but soon disconnect. No stable connection (due to radio or modem?). I guess I am still using the gingerbread modem which doesn't come with the 4.4.2 custom rom?
There is no official release for jellybean for my phone (XXLK3), so I don't know which one to flash to get this working.
I dont know much about regions and sim locks and stuff so hopefully a knowledgeable P variant user help you. Sorry

Thanks for your quick reply. For some reason the phone does not connect with USB in windows 8.1. Updating via Kies is therefore not an option. Also, I believe the latest official release for this model is still 2.3.6 (unlike the same phone in other countries).
I would like to flash JB through odin, but I have yet to find a rom that supports i8160p (XXLK3). Also I am a bit unsure if I need to backup anything expect for the standard CWM recovery backup, I have read that users forgot to backup essential settings that Samsung stores on the phone and which are needed to revert back to GB if needed.
If you have suggestions for a rom to flash, or a procedure to follow. Very welcome!

Yes bro

Going back to stock.

I've been waiting for months for an official samsung kitkat update for my phone. (i9195L). Today I checked on sammobile and saw that the update has arrived, for Trinidad and Tobago.
Now that it has been released, I want to know if I can flash it over my Carbon Rom, which has Android 4.4.4.
I want to know if I can go back to stock and flash this new firmware with kitkat on my device via Odin, or if I will have any problem considering I'm actually downgrading to 4.4.2.
Thanks in advance.

Good rule of thumb with OTAs. Don't perform then on a custom rom. I would use Odin to report to stock. Then see if you can get the update via OTA. However keep in mind that the newer update may not have a root method so if that is important to you, check into that. And always back up in recovery! Flashing back to stock should not harm you device.

U won`t really downgrade But take into consideration this :
Do u have Knox bootloader active ? 0x0 or 0x1 in download mode ? Once u flash KitKat u can`t downgrade to samsung jellybean. U can flash aosp again if stock samsung won`t fit u . If u don`t have Knox bootloader i woyld flash an older firmware that does not contain Knox, 2 3 times in a row until u bring your phone to Official not custom and after that flash samsung kitkat. That way u will sure have knox not triggered, all flashed good modem and so and no problems. I think i write too much and u won`t understand a thing ( i`m bad at explaining stuff )

Besides I think there's already a way to root stock with kitkat via Towel root, so I guess it's a lot of help.

I don't completely agree. Towelroot worked on stock 4.4.2 for me fresh after an Odin restore. I believe it doesnt work on HTC phones and something else. Don't hold me to that I could be wrong. But Towelroot should work great for the OP

Yes if you stock kit kat without root and such you will need to use odin. Using odin will give you a complete stock. Recovery, kernel, etc. Meaning you won't have a custom recovery to restore a back up. Back up your current setup using your custom recovery and keep the back up on your external storage. If you choose to go back if stock doesn't work for you, you may be able to restore the back up once you re-root and install the custom recovery, but it may cause some errors. I'm not 100% sure that the restore will work or not. My suggestion is to find a stock rom that is only rooted and not modded. Less hassle that way. And much easier to go back to your current rom if you don't want the stock rom.

One question: If I already installed this firmware (kitkat) How can I root it? Towelroot? I don't want to trigger Knox, I want to Root it workout having to enable Knox and put that message with yellow letters..
Edit: I rooted it by installing recovery and flashing the rootkit. So far so good.

Hi guys I've had my note II for quite awhile (2 years) and I've rooted it back then installed custom ROM and recovery, not quite sure if a custom kernel is installed. Currently still on 4.1.2 and TWRP installed.
To unroot, I researched that i'll just have
Use Triangle Away and reset my counter.
Flash official firmwares from sammobile
The question here now is that do will my device be kept as official/normal and flash counter 0?? Because some of the steps shown are quite ambiguous and I just want to make sure that I can sell the phone!
Thanks in advance!!

Well, you will need to flash official firmware 4.1.2 first. The status of the phone will be official.
Then, root the phone and install + update Super SU. Use triangleaway to reset the counter.
Then, fully unroot using Super SU. Your phone should certainly fetch you a good dowry.
Press thumps up if you found this suggestion helpful.

Thank you for your reply!
hmm is there anywhere that I can find the official 4.1.2 firmware? Sammobile only has the latest versions.. Also, is it possible to retain root when I flash the original firmware?

Go to samsung-updates.com and click firmware archive.
There is a list of 4.1.2 firmwares. Find one for your country.
Also, if your country is not listed, you can flash 4.1.2 from any country in your region provided that your phone is Galaxy Note 2 international (N7100)
If not, you may have to settle from may be 4.3 or 4.4.
Lastly, you cannot retain root. You will have to follow the procedure mentioned in the earlier reply.
