Just went to HTC DEV unlock and chose "other supported devices" and did what the site said at htc dev unlock. Easy as heck.

I suspect that will be locked down in the next few days....maybe i'll bite the bullet and just buy a new one instead of waiting for used to start showing up.

For those who have unlocked already.. Want to test a recovery???... DO NOT FLASH!!. do a fastboot boot recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.6-m7vzw.img
It will not harm your phone in any way if you boot. If you do happen to flash it. You better hope the recovery boots. Or you'll have to wait for a working recovery to flash

You may wish to reconsider. Fly is a Recovery Guru on top of nearly single handed bringing Android 4.3 to a device that would otherwise NEVER support it Then fixed everything that wasn't working with 4.2/4.3

That was fast. Nice work!

Thanks. for the HTC One. If you fastboot boot the recovery. If it doesn't like it. It will freeze for ~20seconds then reboot just fine.
I have another if you want to test for me also. If this one does work. I have a pretty big surprise. haha

Doing it right. Guess we'll have to wait for Indirect to get the boot.img or recovery.img out before we get a custom recovery. But if those don't work still. Then we'll have to flash instead of boot.

This is amazing! Just unlocked my bootloader with HTCDev. I didn't think that would be possible! Thanks!

[Q] Warranty question

Hi
I have a question before sending my HTC back for the wifi repair to HTC.
If I make a nandroid backup of my existing custom rom, then unroot the phone, when I reroot the phone once i get it back, can I simply use the nandroid backup I had made to restore everything once I have re-rooted?
Thanks
Manny

Yep, ofcourse you can.
To be honest you need to re-lock your bootloader also.
And hopefully your lucky enough to be one of the people that gets a warranty fix even though your unlocked and rooted.
As many people get turned away.

Ok, thanks, its worth a try
I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom and also have the boot.img for the stock rom. I assume that if I flash these 2 first and then lock the bootloader? Is that correct?
if it is correct - is it simple to lock the bootloader?

Hi, yeah thats correct mate.
Easiest way is to flash the correct RUU for you phone. Im sorry but I don't know how to get the correct RUU perhaps someone else could help.
What I do know is that you can never fully "lock" the bootloader again, it will say "Re-Locked" and not "Locked" all you can do is hope they do not check the bootloader.
Hope this helps

If they check it and see it says relocked and then refuse to repair it is the same as me leaving it unlocked?? So i may as well leave it as it is?

But definately return it to stock as much as poss, using the RUU or flashing the stock images etc.

Definately, if they boot the phone and see CWM, TWRP, Titanium, SuperSU/SuperUSer they'll know straight away you are rooted.
Remove anything you possibly can that will identify a rooted unit.

Warranty VOID?
I needed to send my phone in, but I don't have the sticker on the back, or the box, and there's no way for me to get to the settings on the phone, because the screen stopped working.
Will HTC still be able to service my phone, or is the warranty considered void?

HTC repair is bull**** just for the record. I have 4G Slides on the rest of my lines, ALL of which had to be sent in.
2 of those phones took nearly 45 [FORTY FIVE] days to get back to me. Apparently there was a hold for parts coming in from Taiwan. They wouldn't tell me which parts. They wouldn't even give me an estimate time. HTC didn't apologize or update me on my repair. I found all this out after numerous calls day after day.
But if you thought that was bad service, you'll love this...
The third phone was sent out and came back fairly quickly. Within a week. I was so happy to get my phone back.
Opened the box and GUESS WHAT?
HTC SENT ME THE WRONG PHONE
They sent me a completely different phone for a different carrier (HTC Evo 4G for Sprint). It was very beat up as well.
I swear, if it wasn't for their designs (which I love dearly) I would've dropped the company by now...
Sorry for the rant/threadjack. Thought you guys would like to hear a horror story. I'm done
does anyone know how to remove the super su app and the clockwork recovery? everything else is now back to stock as i did a nandroid back up immediately after rooting initially
thanks

TMO Bootloader screen

Here ya go.
Ok so is this good or bad lol? Is it unlocked?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
It looks the same as international...so I would think unlocked. T-Mobile has never locked a boot loader and don't think they will start now
really dislike the know warranty void 0x0... =(
someone please get rid of it
Well According to designgears who has an ATT, he has the exact same stats on his Bootloader screen.
Ya, that is the same as what is on the ATT version, except for the swrev stuff. Maybe the relevant info isn't on there. I don't understand why there would be a tested recovery already for it if it wasn't unlocked.
Didn't notice that. Is that an indication of a locked bootloader?
Well I guess we will know when he tries to flash recovery.....they have the T-Mobile recovery on the international thread

pm from bigbiff.(twrp). So I just found out that even though it says write protection enabled, that doens't mean bootloader locked from Chainfire. He says you just have to try to flash something, but he's having issues with the kernel I might see how far he gets, then see if someone wants to be a sacrifical lamb since I dont have the phone yet

Well I'm trying to fix and issue I'm having with the camera flash, ever since the update it will only flash once and then will not work again with any app no matter what until I do a restart. Well first you need to unlock your bootloader: http://theroot.ninja/depixel8.html
After that, download the P factory image from Google's site and follow instructions to install. Just remember to backup stuff you want (photos, files, anything saved on storage) because unlocking will perform a factory reset.

[Q] Safe to relock bootloader via fastboot? No custom kernels / ROMs

[SOLVED] I followed this thread to get everything updated and make sure I was all stock, and then went to bootloader and ran fastboot flashing lock to relock the bootloader. Everything working great now.
I'm trading my Verizon Pixel XL for a normal Pixel, and need to relock the bootloader first. I haven't installed a custom kernal or ROMs or anything, so can I just lock via fastboot safely?
I don't want to do something that will brick it!
I'm aware this is stupid and I'd rather just leave it, but dude is sketched out by warning on startup and won't trade till it's gone :/
Thanks!
[Edit] it should maybe be noted that I haven't installed any updates since rooting, and I'm not sure if those are important first or not?

Anywhere on your internal storage will be fine. But here's the deal, when you get your device, unlock it ASAP before you set it up too much, or put any data on it. Unlocking the bootloader is going to wipe your device. Once done, then go to town setting it up. You can do updates with fastboot or OTA's that will not wipe your internal storage data :good:
So I am going to get it, add sim, test it, unlock it, boot the TWRP image from PC, make a nandroid backup, copy backup to PC, boot TWRP image, install latest Pixel factory image, install Magisk, install TWRP zip, reboot system, profit!
How does that sound?

As far as when you get the device, I'd fire it up, do a minimal setup, then check to see if you get an OTA update, which I think you will, then unlock the bootloader, then go back and set it up, then do your twrp stuff :good:

As far as when you get the device, I'd fire it up, do a minimal setup, then check to see if you get an OTA update, which I think you will, then unlock the bootloader, then go back and set it up, then do your twrp stuff :good:

So will it get multiple updates, or just the latest?

Probably just the latest. Then again, I haven't taken an OTA in years

Usually it takes all available updates, one at a time until it gets to the latest. You have to reboot between each one. I guess I can check against the factory image site, and see how many it needs and if its a lot, flash the latest image?

Ah, gotchya. Well then depending what version your on, you could either fastboot to the latest monthly or flash the OTA in twrp :good:
Well, one of the dirt bags at FedEx stole the device only out of the box. Seems to be common.

And Google seems to treat each case as if the consumer stole the product out of the box, like what am I going to do with a phone that has a locked IMEI?
