unrooted stock advanced power menu? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Or am I out of luck unless I root and use a custom rom?

You don't need to be rooted or have a custom ROM, just a custom recovery.

stock rom

There any stock ROM flashables that are rooted and custom recovery already set up.
can only find Stock with Root, or stock with Odex or Deodex with and without recovery. Just stock rooted with custom recovery

If all you want is a customer recover and you already have stock rooted zip that you want to use, just flash that. Then all you have to do to get custom recovery after rooting is download goo manager and flash TWRP. It won't take you an additional two minutes doing this.

1) Install GooManager from the Play Store
2) Open GooManager and provide root permissions
3) Hit Menu (or the button with the 3 dots on your screen) and then Install OpenRecovery

[Q] Custom Kernel on completely stock with root

hello, I just want to know if it is possible to install a custom kernel such as ktoonsez kt747. Is it possible to do this using odin? My galaxy s3 is fully stock but has root.
Thanks,
You will need to install a custom recovery first, then flash away.

[Q] 4.3 Custom Rom to 4.3 Stock

I'm currently running custom 4.3 ROMS on my i747m with MK5 bootloader and I'm looking to flash 4.3 stock. I want to return to stock and use DE-SAMSUNGNIZER to de-bloat stock. Is this possible? Or will I lose ROOT and be unable to flash any other custom ROMS.
Thanks for the help!
I suppose you could flash a pre-rooted rom via Odin.
Root is not required to flash custom ROMs, using a custom recovery should do the trick.

Would you recommend using a pre-rooted & deodexed ROM flashed via CWM/TWRP or using the Sasktel Image flashed via Odin?
Thanks for your help audit13
I have a bell s3 so I always just flash the pre_rooted stock image and a custom recovery. By having root, I can uninstall the bloated apps.
I don't think the pre_rooted ROM I use is deodexed.

Flash custom Rom without root

Hey I'm looking to flash a custom Rom because I'm not a fan of Asus skin... From my research I don't need to root the phone, is that correct?
I only need to unlock bootloader and flash twrp.
ofc you can ..if you have a custom recovery

Stock Rom + Custom recovery

I was at almost any of this custom Roms but gCam is not so good for camera like this, If I flash custom rom and kernel, when next update come, how do I update it? normally or I must use custom recovery?
I think that depends on your custom ROM. My custom ROM updates through zip file over custom recovery. I have to flash it's again and again every single time it comes out. I think some Lineage ROMs can be flashed over OTA.
I want to stay on stock rom but to have custom recovery, I just not sure how will update when come... Through recovery? Or normal?
