Bought the wifi 5110 model 3 days ago. Had it all set up. stock not rooted. Watching a video on you tube the sound made a popping noise. reboot, factory reset did nothing. Returned it for another one, so hopefully no more problems. Should have stayed with my transformer tf101 hope it was a dud as I'm loving it otherwise. Did anyone else encounter this problem?

I've had my note for almost 2 months now and in that time, I haven't seen anyone mention this issue before. Sounds like you had a dud. The TF101 was actually my first tablet. Loved it, but it was eventually time to move on. I upgraded to the TF300T and had two of those tablets burn up on me. Asus makes a good product, but seems to have alot of quality control issues, also with the transformer prime nightmare. So i jumped ship to the Samsung and got the Note 10.1. That was a great tablet until it was stolen :crying: So I moved on to the Note 8 for better portability and love it.

Glad to hear no issues. Let's hope it was a dud. Thanks for the reassurance.

Also no problems with mine. Have had it about 2 months as well. I went from iPad, tf201, tf700, to the Note 8, and love the Note 8 the most.

Nexus physical problems

Hey I would like to order the nexus in the next days. Is the last batches had problems with the screen or any kind of building problems? I know that there is a chance to get a bad device...

I think you may have answered your question, there is always a chance. I got mine long ago and has no issues compared to some people who claim there are flaws. I've yet to experience any.

I just got mine 2 weeks ago and I was slightly worried. While I have image retention issues and a few grainy spots I have yet to get a full "burn in". The best advice I can say is take the leap, I willingly chose this device over the international SIII due to my want to finally own a Google branded flagship... and I couldn't be happier. I played with an SIII a few days ago, and yes, the Exynos quad is bad ass but I love my Nexus. It is a truly unique, and incredible phone. In the end it is all about what you think you can live with, AMOLED is not a perfect technology, and PenTile displays take getting used to, just keep that in mind and you will do just fine
All I had was the purple screen(ordered a white one directly from amazon) then I flashed aokp and trinity and it went away.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I live in Israel and currently I am visiting the US so I afraid I get a bad device and I won't have much time to replace it.

Who got rid of thier tablet

Ever since I got the note 2 I haven't been using my tf700
Decided to put it on xda marketplace.
Seems this note 2 is more practical to carry around.
Who else is dumping thier tablet?

Sold my Nexus 7. The Note 2 is a mini tablet with 3g/LTE without having to pay sprint any more unnecessary monthly fees. :good:
Your guys statements are the exact reason I'm gonna be getting a GN2 in the next week. I already set up my Flyer for the kiddos. Not worth selling it for next to nothing.

From a owner of a 7" and 10" tablet (Nook and Toshiba Thrive), the 7" meets my reading and gaming needs, but the 10" is better for watching movies and streaming video. I personally only use the 10" now. I read on my gs3 now. Best part is I bought my Thrive from an apple owner who didn't like android. It was released in the summer 2011 for $600 (32gb) and I bought it for $200 and it didn't even look used. It has full sized HDMI, usb, micro usb, and I'm running 4.1.1.
One Dev worked on it for 6 months getting everything working. I've rooted quite a few Nexus 7 for my friends and they are great tablets as I'm sure the 10" is, but for my uses I didn't need the latest tech. So in the end if you can afford it screen size can never be to big. (That coming from someone who just bought a 70" TV because 60" just wasn't big enough).

Bought a nexus 7 for my daughter in fourth grade. Works wonderful for all the games, movies, streaming..No lag at all. She doesn't have to close out apps or worry about anything, just works.
So for the processing power...the 7 works great. Only thing I can compare it too is kindle myself...which it blows away.
Not disappointed is my point I guess. No idea on the 10.
She plays Netflix, Comcast on demand, and Spotify. As well as any game she wants from store, and the hd hack version of YouTube for the 720p.

Personally, I would go with a Nexus 10 (thought about trading in my iPad 2 for a Nexus 10, but it was too much hassle for right now). But it might be better to wait a while...the Nexus 10 is in its first generation and there are rumors they might release a refresh. I'd also take a hard look at the next generation Windows tablets...the ones with the full x86 Windows 8. I'm planning to replace my laptop and iPad with a Windows tablet, surface 2 if it's good or something comparable. Makes lots of sense to me to replace two devices with one, and have my main computing power in my desktop!
Cool thanks , my kid wants a big screen hd and I want a power ful tablet lol ,still undecided but for sure we're getting a tablet tomorrow..

Hey bro glad to here about your latest android addition. However I need to let you kmow about a problem a lot of the Nexus 7's are having. I got one for X-Mas and started doing all the normal things you would do with a new device root, rom and some research. I found out that a lot of them are having problems with the screen lifting off the bezel. So about 2 days after I got it I noticed the screen was getting loose. So I held it up and looked at the edge and my screen was coming up. I could push the screen down and it would just push itself up. There are some guides on how to fix it at home but they never lasted for me, the problem just came back. I ended up taking mine back. I hope you dont have this problem. But I would look into it just to be safe.

Tablet Question/Suggestion

I have the Note II and I'm getting a tablet but I'm not too up to speed on the tablet scene.
Anyone got any suggestions on which tablet out right now would be the best choice.
I'm thinking the Nexus 10 or the Galaxy Note 10.1 any other ones I should consider? Out of the two I listed which would you pick? I'm OK with spending up to $600, so the price really would not be a deciding factor.

+1 on the galaxy tab 2 10.1. They also have an ir blaster on the wifi only which allows you to use it as a remote. Although most find it a gimmick I love it. My model number is gt-p5113.

I also had the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and now the Galaxy Note 10.1...fyi the Note 10.1 also does the remote IR blaster thing and it works very well, though I don't use it as I already have a bad-ass programmable (and fully programmed) touch screen remote control for my entertainment system. but it's there. and it does work nicely.

You laugh but I got my daughter the nabi2 because I felt it was future proof. It has better specs than either tablet you are looking at, plus it accepts an sd card.
It does require rooting to get play store, but once you do it is wide open. If you have a kid, get this tablet. If not, it's up to you

Dumping S4 after 2 months

Am I the only one that is dumping the S4 in favor of the lag free nexus 4?
ahhhhhh, I can't feel better knowing that I'm going back to the nexus 4 after having to deal with the lag issues that the S4 has.
There is no lag here...try a different rom...on the custom roms...lag is gone...but you are moving along so never mind.
Running Alpha Infamous, with BioShock kernel, and Comadose tweak. No lag, and better battery then I ever saw on my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well, the N4 did just drop $100 so its a good time to change if your going to. But im running the GE 4.3 rom and its absolutely lag free.
Most of my complaints stem from the animation transitions...you can definitely see some type of stuttering. It happens more frequently when the phone dims its lcd brightness.

I do see some type of lag during some transitions but nothing to switch phones over ... I had the nexus and yes it was no lag at all but s4 to me was way better than the nexus.... I also did flash a 4.3 ROM and it was just as smooth as nexus ..zero lag but had to go back to tw for the camera .... But good luck to you sir

I'm thinking of upgrading to the note 3 once it gets released on T-Mobile too. To be honest I was a little disappointed with the s4. Not too much to go back to the nexus 4. But a little disappointed.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I just made the switch to T-Mobile and bought the S4. It's still getting delivered lol But the Nexus 4 @ 200 bucks OFF contract is an excellent deal. You can't beat that.
Again maybe it's just me, but I don't have any of the lag that I keep seeing people post about. (knock on wood) Now my OG Note was laggy as all get out. FWIW I don't use the TW launcher I swapped out to Nova after 1 day, but even with TW it didn't lag I just didn't like the look. In my experience having too many widgets seemed to cause lag, especially those that auto update, removing most of them helped somewhat with the Note
I've been tinkering with the idea of the Note 3, but really I don't want to go any bigger. Besides in a few more months something else may catch my eye, thanks to JUMP I can get it if does.

Why dont you just flash a GE or AOSP rom?? I'm sure you're gonna end up flashing an Aosp rom on your nexus anyways...
Like it has been said previously, just flash a Google Edition Rom (it's going to end up just like a Nexus 4): I did it and there's no turning back for me, the phone feels so much faster now... I do sorely miss the TW camera, but I use other features a lot more that depend on speed, plus I need to access some stuff (usually medical stuff) relatively quick, so I couldn't handle the lag.
People who claim lag don't know what they're doing. Please talk about your Nexus 4 on its respected forum.
