[Q] Samsung Multimedia Dock and Custom Roms - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey y'all!
I've been scrooching xda forums throroughly, and there is very little discussion about the multimedia dock. (Which is going to be awesome, when someone here gets Ubuntu fully functional on the phone!)
Anyways, here is my problem. I am currently running ProBam 4.22, and it has no idea what to do when I connect it to the multimedia dock. Nothing happens, no HDMI output, no keyboard or mouse support.
The thing is, I don't even know if any custom roms actually support the bloody thing.
Is there any application, tweak or similiar that could be installed/flashed so that the multimedia dock would be supported?
I got so frustrated that I even tried flashing the stock rom back. Which didn't work out. Ubuntu on my computer, can't find proper tar.gz stock version to be used with Heimdall. (The thing keeps complaining something about Heimdall packages shouldn't include any links or directiories... I packed it myself and put none of that stuff there, what gives?) So, not going back to Stock, unless I install Windows. Which I hate.
Any idea on the matter?
Thanks in advance!

Really? No responses
Well, it would be quite awesome if someone would be able to add smart dock support to a custom rom.
I bought the thing for nothing, it seems :S

I would also like to know that!
I've had one N7100 and now I have a I9505.
I intend to buy a Smart Dock to use with the S4. I use the PAC-man ROM.
No one knows exactly if it works?

Any news? I have the same problem.

Hdmi mirroring enabled on Samsung Desktop Dock (the portrait one)

Hi guys,
if you've bought a samsung desktop dock for yout GNES, I've compiled a pure stock jelly bean kernel with the hdmi mirroring mode enabled for official samsung desktop dock.
If you want to test it, here is the thread and download link:

I wondered about this. When I got my GNex it had ICS and I had one of the MHL adapters from my Samsung Infuse (I think that's what it's called) and it worked flawlessly. I haven't tried this with JB yet but I wonder if this type of tweak will be needed or if it will just work. Thank you for this solution btw.

With android 4.0.4 or newer, the samsung desktop dock is recognize in a different way to mhl adapter.
The dock haven't hdmi mirroring functionality out of the box, while the mhl adapter still have it.
So, to use the hdmi mirroring with the dock, just like an adapter, is necessary thi kernel fix.
Is there any kernel out there that has this tweak allready in it, like franco kernel or lean kernel?
I cant find any information about this. Unfortunally im not allowed to post anything to the developers section.
Or is there anybody who could apply this tweak to the newest franco kernel (which im using at the moment)? Because the Kernel you posted here is the stock one without any functions and its pretty old now, right?
And what is the amount of time needed to apply this tweak to a kernel for someone who has kernel-compiling-environment? Im just wondering if this is much work?

[Q] Mirror Link mod development?

I noticed that they are working on it for a different model, the Galaxy s3 I9300, and I9305. Walkeryan and j0ep0 are doing great things, and I tried to install their TMserver on my rooted T999 but it failed to verify. I can't post on their development forums, don't have access to it. Would love to if anyone can give me permission, ect. would love to help them debug and trouble shoot.
Would love to get this to work for our phones too.
Any advice?

Sorry about that...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951960
Really disappointed with the unit so far... Mirror link is crappy so far, tring to do the mod and will post back once that is done, but the unit CANT use the navigation and music at the same time... WTF... My Cell phone can do both but not the 701HD... I called Sony and got the run around.
also they only give you 2 USB ports, and one of them takes up for the Nav system, so you can either plug in your phone, or an Ipod, or USB, I tried to use a USB spliter to plug in a USB flash drive and my phone and it doesn't work.

Tried to install the TMServer but it failed to authenticate. Tried the custom Drive link and it keeps crashing. Bummed here.

[Q] I look for a rom that works correctly the screen mirroring, any rom I advise?

I look for a rom that works correctly the screen mirroring, any rom I advise?I´ve t999
I'd guess any touchwiz based rom should work. Many others probably have similar functionality built in. Search each rom thread, or pick out the ones you like and ask in the thread if you can't find the answer first.
and by the way... using triangle away and putting the original rom, I stopped working screen mirroring and not is because it connects prefect on television but the minute without me doing anything is disconnected and I get message of... screen mirroring is stopped, and not be the because...Some advice? I put another rom?
advise any rom for my t999.
If its used by or related to Samsung's AllShare apps, it may be a DRM vs root issue. Its just a guess though. Ive never used this so i dont know much about it.

What was your solution?
I am also looking for a car based rom but don't want to pay to get timur's
I bought into the timurs but when I tried to go back to stock - I cleared the rom and wiped the tablet to go to stock- I wiped everything and bricked the tablet. My computer didnt recognize the tablet in bootloader or twrp mode...Oh well. I am waiting for my other tablet to arrive to see if I can finally do it. As far as the question"...to timur or not to timur?" I couldn't tell you but the biggest complaint that I see while using the experimentalx is the recognition of the dac Which in my application makes the world of difference since everything is going to go through the dac - as far as audio. Another cool feature is its ability to recognize the reverse input through my camera. It switches to your backup camera app once the kernel detects power on the camera. Again, I have yet to test ANY of it out. Sorry I couldnt help anymore. it really all depends on what features you are looking for. Just as a comparision, I am gonna run the following: dac, 2 hubs, fm, back up cam, extra usb extension, flash drive for music, flash drive for video, and mic. Still trying to see if I can find a usb fan that is controllable via an app If it plugged into one of the hubs. Good luck...let me know what works for you.
Let's hope someone could share the Timur Kernel.
He said with his words that it is completely legit to share his source and kernel. He was just not willing to do it.
As the nexus is getting old. People who would like to donate has already done.
BTW, can you please share if you can get OTG & Charge to work together under elementalX without having to re-plug the mini-usb everytime?
Thanks.
There is a torrent for the 2012 version:

Custom 7.0 ROM for the Galaxy s6 edge Plus!

This device may be a few years old, but its still great. Support for it has almost disappeared, but there are still people out there like me that are on this device that can't/won't upgrade for one reason or another. Sure, Superstock is a great ROM, but lollipop is outdated, and having the features of custom ROMS but on a newer base would be freaking great. I am right?
I may have missed them, but as far as I could find on XDA, I couldnt find any nougat custom ROMs for this device. I would super excited to petition for one of the awesome developers out there to make a new ROM, even if it might be the last for this phone. Or maybe there is one, and I have just been much to dense to see it. Let this thread be for all posts related to the development of a custom Nougat rom, or sharing of one that already exists. Thanks everyone for reading and participating!
EDIT: SM-G928T is the model number, just in case it isn't implied
"petition for one of the awesome developers out there to make a new ROM"
Wow... no need to do that buddy..
I'll save you the headache, hassle and lynching..
Check this out.. https://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus
Heads up, read thru the thread carefully, many of these ROMs will require the "T-Mobile audio fix" to get in call audio, that is if you have the T-Mobile variant (G928T). You can search for the fix..
We can run Note 5 ROMs too, check out the TMo N5 or the Int'l forums, like I mentioned, above.

Thanks for the response. I had no idea we could run international ROMs on variant devices. I am having the issue you mentioned, though, with the call audio. So far ive tried two roms, flashed the fix, without any change. Ideas as to how i might get that working?
There is a audio fix on the T mobile Galaxy Note 5 page, it worked for me using Dr Ketan's rom

I do know that theres a few different "audio fixes" available. Im thinking they differ bcuz of the Android version? Just a guess, but what I'll do, is, I'll use only Roms that another 928T user already reported their success using it. I dont want to waste my time and effort being the guinea pig and then, for it not to work. Usually, whomever confirmed compatibility, will also list anything thats needed additionally to get it running, like the audio fix, along with link(s) to get it. If it doesn't work, they'll usually state the issues they found. Someone else's issue with it, might not be relevant to another person so they may decide to run it.
The best way to do this is to simply go to the OP of the Rom thread, in the upper right corner, you'll see a "search" option/box, (depending on browser or app, might see 3 dots instead, its a drop down list) click on it and enter our phone model, "928T, 928-T" or "T-Mobile, Tmobile, TMO " I try to cover the different variations, others here use to identify the phone. Seems like the search function, searches only the exact characters, as entered in the box, doubting it can identify and include similar known ones, so rather be thorough and not miss something. It searches your entry only in that particular thread and lists the results.
If you're braver than I, and dont mind going where no other TMO'rs have gone before and found only the in call audio isnt working, then its likely, flashing the audio fix is all thats needed.
The best way to solve this is, again, with a simple search. This time I'd recommend, a broader search using Google's search engine, type "XDA T-Mobile audio fix," bcuz this will search all XDA forums, more importantly, both S6 E+ and N5, carrier and int'l forums all at once. Then just go down the list if results, making sure that youre in either of the 4 forums, above, locating the download. Last I checked there was 3 or so fixes available, this was many months ago though. Anyway, having more isnt a bad thing, less would mean needing to go back and finding the one you missed. Once you have them, flash each one seperately, in recovery, reboot, confirm whether you're issue is fixed or not. If not, then continue these steps till it works. Flashing the audio fix won't mess your phone up. No need to reset, clear cache or anything of the sort, between each audio fix, just flash only the audio fix and rebooting is necessary. If you want to be organized, you can cross reference the dates of each audio fix, with the current firmware available at the time. That way you can flash any Rom you desire and will already have the fix ready.
Wow, my apologies, talk about rambling on about nothing more than finding correct file, flash your device, confirm its fixed, if not then repeat till its fixed. If no fix is found then, Rom isnt compatible...
Sorry, one last thing, Im sure that you'll help many others like yourself, if you had minute to post your experience with whichever Rom(s), you chose.
For example, "Rom works great, needed this (link to audio fix) for in call audio on the TMO variant"
It seems like you're the first 928T to try the Rom you have so,
report your experience, posts are permanent, its there forever, for any curious new comers, you'd be their hero! It'd most def get a "thx" from me.. :good:

Found a few ROMs that work without fixes and run nougat. Khongloi's s8 port works and has some of the best features I've ever had on this phone, but is heavy on the battery. AndroidSword's NFuel XL runs fast and light, but doesn't have edge features. The original NFuel also has full support for 928T, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm also working on my own custom ROM now since every ROM I tried was missing something I wanted.

Thanks for the info. My S8 has kicked the bucket, and so I'm back on my S6 for the time being and want to give it a bit of a refresh. I'll look up those NFUEL ROMs.

I've just finished cooking a second version of my custom rom. Haven't had any issues so far. It's Called TrueStockN.
Here's a list of ROMs I was able to get working for the G928T:
Khongloi's s8 Port
Nemesis s7 Port
N-Fuel
TrueStockN
These are just Nougat roms I that worked for me off the bat, no additional audio fix required. Of course, there may be more, but these are the ones I know of and have used extensively.
