Boot animations - Droid RAZR M Themes and Apps

Coming from the HTC evo, I'm disappointed at the lack of both animations for the RAZR m.
Can boot animations made for other phones be used in the RAZR m?

Look in the Android General section of XDA. You'll find tons of animations, but look for ones that fit your device's resolution (960x540, qHD for RAZR M)
You can use any animation that suites you, but those not fit for qHD screens will either be shrunk or too large.

Good advice man thank you! I've tried a couple out and the ones I snagged from the evo forum seem to be working okay but I can't seem to incorporate the audio.
Any ideas? I know it has to be an .oog file yeah?

i don't think any of them contain audio. for some reason, DEVs seem to dislike audio for boot animations. I enjoy them, but given that I rarely reboot my phone now (going on 234 hours since last reboot...I know, I know...I should reboot twice a week, but I'm testing to see how long I can go, and my phone still performs better than ever!), I just don't see the need to add audio. if you wanted to add audio, then you could by inserting a wav file (I think save it as *.ogg or something like that) in the system/media folder (or some place similar to that).

I believe I read that only some kernels allow the sound to be changed on boot animations. So animation creators don't include it in the file normally.

I cant seem to be able to write to that folder using Astro. Says Error: Could not write file.
Do I need to change the folder permissions? If so, how do I go about doing that.

I have been trying to get boot sound for the longest and it wont work for any rom that is based of cyanogen cause they have remove the option for it. I read it on there web site and said that they think it is annoying and will not put it back in. Only way to get it back is use a rom not based off cyanogen. Here is the link to there answer on there website. https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse...ira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel

Did you name it powerone or poweron? If you added "e" at the end, maybe that's why it didn't work.

[REQ] Nexus S TV lock ani

Can someone pull whatever code makes the Nexus S screen go off like a TV when you lock it and port it? It's awesome!
Seconded. Though I do find it funny that a natural process of a piece of archaic technology is something we now wish to have emulated on our high-end electronics for show.
Weird isn't it.. Lol

It's an xml within the framework res. It's in the anim folder and should be lock_on.xml or something to that nature. It would be easiest made as a metamorph. I'd do it but I got no way of testing. No longer an epic user.

Where to get YouTube HD apk

Hi, does anyone know how and where to get HD YouTube apk that works with our phone?
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
try changing the phone's resolution. i've noticed that when i set mine to x720, even opera browser's interface changed. the menu is no longer a bar at the bottom but like on the upper left, if im not mistaken. and yeah, i remember youtube being crisper. look for lcd resolution at the market to set screen res.
I'm no genius on the matter, but I think you would need a phone that supports the HD resolution which currently are only a select few with ours out of the picture.
There is enough hate in the world. Why can't we all get along here ...?
The thing is I have the Galaxy Nexus
And it has a YouTube app. That shows the videos in HD. I know our phone doesn't have HD screen but that doesn't matter it can downscale and it will still look crisp.

Hmmmm. It might just not work bro
The new YouTube comes part of gapps with ICS so you would need to have ICS framework most likely to make it work. The new gmail app is also like that as well.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
i guess you guys missed my point. the gnexus version might have a compatibility update just to make it work with ics. but to make youtube's hd look better our phone, we must have an hd screen or at least make the youtube app think that we do.
change your phones resolution from x480 to x720 (using lcd resolution app from the market) and youll see apps like youtube and opera browser detect your phone's res and adapt to it.
HD vids on a fake 720 res is much better than on our native x480's youtube hd vids. opera browser's interface changes just by changing the phone's res. try it and youll see what im talking about.
what it boils down to is, we need someone to make the youtube app think our screen is at least x720. that might work.

[Boot Animation] Energy Star PC BIOS

My all time favorite boot animation on my S2 and Evo was a mock bios POST from an old motherboard (The ones that had ENERGY STAR on the top right and tested ram and displayed a POST). It brought back warm fuzzy nostalgia feelings from my first computers.
Anyways, because no one has made one yet for the N7, I decided to have a go. I made it show in landscape since I have the N7 in landscape 99% of the time. The first 2 zips are NOT flashable, so use a root explorer to put it in the /system/media folder. The last 3 are, and include a 'revert to stock' zip as well. If you manually place the zips, ensure the permissions are set at 'rx....r....r '.
For anyone curious, I used the application 'boot animation factory'. It's a windows program that worked flawlessly
And just FYI this is cross posted to reddit on the nexus 7 subreddit.
EDIT: User Spannaa was awesome and made flashable versions, as well as a 'revert to stock' flashable, which are attached below. They are the last 3 attachments.

Yes it will, so long as you have root or are very familiar with ADB. Otherwise there is no way to get the zip into the appropriate directory.
One reddit user had a fix for it not working. I guess different root managers have different default permissions for files.
