buying new sgn charger - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

Recently, my sgn n7000 charger(1yr old) got damaged.
I am looking to buy new charger of same model, but after searching a lot, i coudnt find a new genuine charger online, most of them are boxed and loosely packed.
i got some gud deal for a charger but its 700ma, it will take a lot of time to charge..
While searching, i got at these product
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Buy-Online-S...?pt=IN_Mobile_Accessories&hash=item3384a4ebb8
but on the samsung website, the note n7000 is not in the compatible list.
i wanna know, will it charge my note properly or not. Will i t damage my battery..!
or else pls give some link whr i can get genuine charger.

charger
The charger looks like an indian version of the one my daughter received with her galaxy s4. White is the colour of her phone and the colour of her charger, it also was 5v at 2A. To my knowledge the charging of the battery within the phone is controlled by the phone and as long as it is supplied with its minimum requirement of 5v. it will charge at whatever current it can within the control of the power management in the phone.
Hope this helps ? I did look at the samsung website in india and they had power units for sale. I dont know where you are ?

Samsung India has 700ma chargers listed..
And do u charge ur note with that one..? Us thr any problem.?

charger
No mine is a 5v 1A samsung charger. I also have an incar charger which is a standard usb charger for any make of phone and that supplies 5v at 1A. I also have a Yiboyaun unit from china which charges just the battery, I have 3 additional batteries I use and charge with this unit from china. I have had this setup for more than a year with no problems.

You can charge N700x with the Note 2 charger (which puts out max 2A). It charges slightly faster than the original Sammy 1A charger/cable. It's perfectly safe because the phone will not take in more current than it's configured.

If it charges faster than 1A its not limiting the input. The note 1 battery is made for 1A chargers. Using 2A will limit the life span of the battery.

I had a question about a charger - I'm interested in getting a second charger for the Vibrant. I see that the charger that comes with the Vibrant says it has an output of 5.0V and 0.7A.
If I have an old LG charger that has an output of 5.1V and 0.7A, would that work. Could it damage the battery in my Vibrant, in anyway.
Thanks.
Not sure about your old charger, but it should work. Try it out at your own risk though.
I did want to comment on the chargers for the Vibrant. The phone seems to want a lot of current to charge properly. I was using an older 5V 500mA charger that served me well with my G1 and older BB Pearl. I had the Vibrant on it and it wouldn't charge fully. I also noticed the same thing when I would hook-up the vibrant to my notebook (typically 500mA max per port).
The good news is that there are a lot of cheap 5V 1A chargers on eBay. Just make sure to check a charger's spec before buying one.

I also bought 5V 1A car chargers and mini USB to micro USB adapters so that I can use my old USB to mini USB cables when I am on the go.

I have used my iphone charger a couple times. Very small letters on the back but I think it says it is 1.0A. Worked fine bit I went back to my vibrant charger. I also found a car charger at a circle K for $9.99. Probably could of got one a little cheaper on ebay but it was there and i needed a charge...lol

Tried my old charger .. it works but is really slow compared to the one that came with the Vibrant. Probably going to end up purchasing an extra one for when I travel.
Personally I don't mind something charging slower when I travel as long as I'm getting more power to the phone than I'm using of course.
Monoprice has 1000mA
Anyone has experience with this wall charger from monoprice? (can't link, please look up Product ID: 6767)
It's rated at 1000mA. The stock charger that came with the vibrant is 700(I think). Will extra 300mA damage my phone?

The extra 300mA will not damage the phone. Most smart phones require 700mA-1A to charge properly. But be careful, cheapo charger has potential to fry your phone. Anytime I buy a charger from ebay or cheap vendor, I plug it in to my old MP3 player for a week before I use it with my newer devices.
I have the same one that you see on monoprice. I've been using it for almost 2 years with no problem at all, YMMV tho.
I'd recommend this one. Looks identical to the charger that comes with my 3GS. Works well, I use it every day at work for more than 6 months now. Again, YMMV.

the max charge rate for a Li-ion battery is 1C. So you could charge at up to 1500mA.
I ordered that exact charger a few days ago.

The amperage rating only tells you the *maximum* possible output. The device (your phone) controls the current draw. As long as the voltage matches (5v), you can use a charger with any amperage rating which is 700mA (0.7A) or higher.
(Note that this only applies to chargers that your phone plugs into. You have to be more careful with the self-contained spare-battery chargers (where you remove the battery from the phone and put it into the charger). But those are normally battery-specific anyway.)
Also, you *might* risk damaging the battery through long-term usage of a charger that can't supply at least the minimum amperage (such as the sfsilicon's 500mA transformer). The end of a charge cycle draws the most power which is probably why sfsilicon couldn't fully charge his battery.

that might explain why my laptop wouldn't always charge to 100% - first few times it did, and i'd find the notification msg when i'd close the laptop, but last few times it didn't
learn something every day
as i use the vibrant tethered every nite while browsing (which is when it was charging), any problem with finishing the charge with the samsung wall charger? ie interrupting the charge when i take it off the laptop?

dont buy charger from ebay..)) go to local shop and get one universal for samsung.. the charger is the same as for SGS1 mate....
second thing is the same - for car charger...just buy a charger with micro USB even for HTC or NOKIA..they are all the same...
dont make things complicated...
W.r.t. car chargers: They are not all the same !
The difference is in the charge current they can support.
There are 500 mAmp versions;
There are 1000 mAmp (1 Amp) versions;
And then there are a few 2000 mAmp (2 Amp) versions.
I would at least get a 1 Amp version to be sure that charging is more than an active SII would alreday consume (GPS, Bluetooth,...)
I myself bought a 2 Amp version.
(Note the standard Samsung Wall-plug delivers 700 mAmp.
alright thanks!!!

Have you used the 2A charger with the SGS2? If so did you experience any problems like overheating, stopped working etc?
How about charging time is it any faster?
I'm thinking of using my old HTC charger 5v 2a and would like to hear your thoughts
Thank you.
I always used 1A 5v car charger for every phone I owned. but with gs2, it made me sick. overvolting everytime, both with 1A and 250A (btw better 250..) and it causes freezing.
more A isnt better, our galaxy has an internal chip wich brings A to 0.7A anyway, even with 10A input.
buy an original samsung car charger
thanks for the reply!
I just bought a 2A charger. I'll let you know my experiences.
Please do! Thank you.
I too would be interested to hear how your 2A charger goes. Especially for long journeys (e.g 2 hrs+) with GPS on the whole time!
I just bought a 1200mA wall charger
It's Nokia's Fast Micro-USB Charger (AC-10) for 10 euro inl. shipping from ebay
l let you know my experiences
I have a 2 A car charger. Originally sold for the Ipad2.
Works well - no freezing, but the phone still tends to discharge very slowly whilst using Sygic with GPS on and bluetooth. This is a common issue on the SGS2 and is NOT solved by a high current charger. It seems that there is a limit to how much current the phone can take (possibly software implemented) and there is nothing to be gained between a 1A and a 2A charger
Thank you Mahniex for taking the time to post your observations.
Thank you Mahniex for your testing,
I also have a 1A car charger, but same problem here. After 200 Kms of driving with GPS on and BT on, the battery is draining so fast from 100% to 0%, that I can't use it a lot.
Maybe, there is also a problem with the cable. I use a Sync/charge Cable. Maybe if I could find one with only charging capabilities, it could be better.
I don't exactly know...

Quick and Inexpensive USB wall charger?

I just lost my USB wall charger and realized my spares don't charge as fast as my previous one...
My previous charger had my phone at +700ma while in sleep, two of my spares can do 400 and one can only do 200!
One time I used a car charger that had me at +900ma in sleep so I would like to try and find a new wall charger that can get me +900.
BTW all the chargers I have used have said they are 5v 1000ma, so clearly I can't just go by the specs they list- I need a first hand experience of a quality charger.
So I open it to the forums. Anyone here have experience of a particularly strong USB wall charger?
I got a good Motorola one on Amazon for pretty cheap and it's been going strong for a while.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Well, you do need one that's 1000mAh.
You just need one from a reliable manufacturer that's not mis-labelled crap.
I'd just look for a quality brand. I got lucky with one for $1.50 on eBay but the seller isn't selling them any more.
Hm so I guess OEM or genuine name brands should reliably be up to their specs, then? Well, I guess I'm going to shop around for one that maybe says 1500ma or more because I believe my phone can take more than a 1A charger can give it, and it probably won't disappoint
Samsung note II have a battery of 3,100mAh, the charger is 2000mA(2A). but my i can use the same charger for my S2. so i guess that the amphere doesn't really matter. just that the higher the amphere of the charger, the faster it charge. But you sure need a higher amphere charger for bigger battery. Hope this help.

I've read that smartphones (at least android phones) have controlled charging circuits that will only allow for as much amperage as they are set to allow. So if you connect a 2000mA charger to the phone but it's limited to 1000mA then it will only draw 1000mA. However as I have noticed just because a charger says it can output 1000mA doesn't mean that it can. I have tried 4 different 1000mA chargers each with pretty different outputs- and if they don't output as much as your phone will take it WILL charge slower. The point of this thread was to gather information on which chargers are reliably fast and ideally economical ones (there's enough OEM chargers I can find for 10x the price of off-brand ones that would hopefully do the job right).

[Q] E975 charger limit on amps?

i am thinking about if my E975 is limited when it comes to how many amps it can charge with bcs i recently brought a 2A charger also tried it out on my Google Nexus 7 2013 and i don't feel like it charges that much faster then my original LG charger with a 3meter flat OEM kable.
the charger i brought is said to charge with 2A while the original LG is only 1.2A shouldn't i be feeling a difference?

No, you shouldn't. You can plug it into a 10 Amp charger, but the phone will only draw the amount it needs. Remember, it's not the charger pushing the current to the phone, it's the phone pulling it from the charger. The charging current is determined by the phone - each Li-Ion or Li-Po battery has a controller curcuit. The important thing is for a charger to be able to provide what a device wants to draw - otherwise, it would charge slowly, or not at all. So, a charger should be rated for not less than X Amp. More amp rating won't hurt, but it won't increase the actual current...
oh this is very useful. I also had the same question.
mine came with a 750mA (.75A) charger. As I left my charger at home during the holidays, I had to make due with one that I bought from a nearby tech store. I was very happy with the charger that I bought as it charges my phone really fast. I found out that my new charger was also a 2A model.
so I guess, in my experience, I noticed a big improvement in charging speeds comparing the 750mA with the new 2A charger. But I guess coming from a 1.2A charger, it only makes little difference.

Wall charger

Hi !
Yesterday i've bought Anker 7200 mah for Samsung Galaxy S3. I'm really happy with it. After the first battery charging i've realised i need one good and secure wall charger. I've tried to charge it with friend of mine stock S3 charger (1A) but its kind of pain. It tooks about 7hours 30min to charge it from 0 -100%. So i need one good wall charger. I was thinking to buy stock S3 or S4 charger because the kernel gives me the option to choose charging current. But the stock charger costs a lot - about 10-15 GBP. Then i was thinking to buy Family Sized Anker 40W , 5-port charger which have PowerIQ technology and automatically identify each connected device and gives it the fastest charging current. The maximum for one port it 2,4A. It cost 20 GBP now. (there is some kind of discount). I won't use 5 of the ports because it will be personal. But it is almost the price of the stock one.....
Can you give me some good ideas for good chargers?
Yours,
Ignatov
