[Q] Wrong date - HTC One X

When I use GPS apps such as Strava and Map My Tracks, I sometimes get activities logged as 5 January 1980. If I download GPS settings first it is fine but does anyone know a permanent fix for this?

[HOWTO] Google Navigation on HTC Desire

Can I get Google Navigation on my HTC Desire?
Yes you can! And it does not involve any hacking or rooting. All you need to do is install Brut's Google Maps MOD next to your existing Google Maps app and you're all set.
You might also find Nav Launcher useful with this MOD.

I presume you've installed it and it is working without problems on the Desire in the UK?

There are problems (not Desire related) that are listed on the original topic. But overall it's usable.
this installed fine and is working getting searching for gps signal but im sat in my lounge will test later
erm. navigation works for me already without this. click and hold on the place that you want to go and select get directions from current location.... takes you there. . . . .
What exactly is the point of this mod?

This is voice guided turn by turn, presumably.
Unless you mean yours does this already?
i havent tried it but dont think its turn by turn. just tested the navigation bit.
Unless you're in the US, it's not turn by turn.
I have tried google navigation and it doesn't work. It always says destination not accessible.
go to the market download nav launcher then select the brut maps and install viola

I'm pretty sure it should work on Desire if anyone shared APK from their Nexus One. Try searching N1 forums for it.
My desire got an update for google maps yesterday. In the list of new additions that came with the update was "Navigation(beta)". I havent been able to get it to work though
has anyone got voice to work?

Yeah, is the file available anywhere else please? I'm curious to try it.
Used it for the 1st time yesterday to get from Nottingham to Bedford and it worked great. The satellite map overlay is rather interesting to use and the traffic updates on the map its a great function.
I was using it through my bluetooth car kit and had the music playing on my desire so the voice directions didnt work but i loved it (The voice when it does work is crap though lol).
I dl Nav Launcher from the market place, when I ran it it asked if I wanted to use brut maps, i said yes and it dl it.
Followed the instructions in "treble4's" post and works a charm.
THANKS

[Q] Is there a way to keep the Sound Search Widget (Google Ears) stick?

Hi guys, I'm using the Sound Search widget (Google Ears) outside US so I have to defrost it in Titanium Backup every after reboot. I also noticed that the app automatically gets frozen over time so I have to remove the widget, defrost in TiBU and add the widget to the homescreen to make it work again. I just want to ask if there's a way to stop it from being frozen over time? Is there a specific background app that locks it back again? Its fine to do the steps above everytime I reboot the phone. I just want to know if there's a way to stop it from being frozen again until I reboot my phone. Thanks.
Google Play Music has been launched in the UK and yet it still freezes the sound search widget. Is there a way of defrosting permanently?
EDIT: Running GNex 4.2 stock rooted semi-deodexed, stock kernel
I noticed that the sound search widget now remains defrosted when I upgraded to 4.2.1. Check yours if it does the same.
Can somebody post the apk for Google ears?
jelly buttery smoothness
I was using the one from the link below before I upgraded 4.2.1 ->

i have the same problem from italy. did you find a way to fix it?
upgrade to 4.2.1 don't resolve for me.
If you guys are rooted, using Package Enabler would activate it even if you do a reboot.

[Q] Google Now not working

Hey guys, I'm using the latest ViperX ROM (4.0.5) running 4.2.2 Android.
The preloaded Google Search app, which is supposed to be Google Now has only partial functionality. When I start it up, it shows only the search bar and no cards. Some of the voice commands (like setting alarms and emails) work, but others (like setting a reminder) show a box that I need to opt-in to Google Now, after which doing, go back to the search screen, and the same thing happens.
I tried clearing cache, uninstalling and redownloading from the Play store, downloading an older version, making sure the language is EN-US, but so far nothing has helped. Any ideas?
The next step is to try to change roms, but I want to stay on ViperX and still have Google Now functionality
Have same problem with htc one officiall 4.3 ROM.

No Google Now after 4.3

I have been running 4.1.2 for a long time and google now always worked fine. When the 4.4 home screen apks came out I installed them and was really enjoying having google now as a homescreen page. Last week I installed the ditto note rom and ever since then I can not get google now to work, I have tried everything that I have found when searching (Why doesn't xda search support speech marks though?) Last night I did a super wipe and installed pheonix rom but still the problem persists. What am I doing wrong?
Since installing DN3 I have tried:
changing language to english us - still no google now
changing to english uk and downloading offline data - still no google now
clearing google search app data - still no google now
upgrading google search to lastest version - still no google now
downgrading to dn3 default version - - still no google now
installing 4.4 apks - still no google now
super wipe and install phoenix rom - still no google now (shouldn't superwipe kill any possibility of it being something on phone that did it?)
languages again - still no google now
installing launcher enabler - still no google now
So is it one of the following?
Google decided that an English speaker in China doesn't get google now anymore? On the exact day I upgraded my rom?
I'm being punished for installing the 4.4 apks early?
These two roms don't support google now?
superwipe isn't super?
Google now was bad for me and the universe is staging an intervention?
Please help
Im living in China too and have this problem on my nexus 4

Hmmm.. looks like it must be something similar to how location reporting got disabled for many countries.. For a company that talks so much about transparency I sure wish they would explain why they are disabling these features that used to work fine simply because I happen to be in another country. Is it an international law thing?

It makes me really uupset to. I know that google now/voice search requires active location settings... I think the Chinese government demanded that googole disable location tracking for internal security (closed market/monopoly),,,,
I dont want to see maps blocked here s I guess it is a balancing act. I hate to see the other features of googe blocked....
From what I can tell it works perfectly fine if you set it up from an earlier version of google search.. For me that means probably a reflash without install search then finding an earlier apk version to initialize it.. Will report back on progress..

Success!
What worked for me was:
I reflashed the rom I was using but chose not to install google search as a system app. You could just try to remove the app with Titanium, it should have the same effect.
On first boot I didn't sign in to google at all. Instead I first installed the search2.6 apk from the below link.
Then I opened google play and signed in and quickly went to turn off auto update.
Then I opened google search and it asked me to opt-in to google now.
Once it was all running I went back to google play and let it update and also installed the launcher enabler app.
Hope this helps someone.

Working 100% now. I'm pretty sure it's a location at time of setup issue. Good luck trying it on your nexus4.

Possible to use for phone-free navigation?

Considering the SW3 has built-in GPS, would it be possible to sideload an offline navigation app like TomTom? The 4 gigs of memory would be enough for the map data. Has anyone tried this?
I don't know much about Wear so please forgive me if this is a stupid question.
Yeah, there are no app that officially support wear offline navigation, but I just tried side loading Nokia here maps beta and it works, but you will have to change DPI to be able to start navigation. Will post screenshots and guide later on.
I hope we will see such apps support soon.
samething new about this??????
