[Q] What are some live wallpapers that don't suck? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Seriously, nearly every live wallpaper I have tried is either grainy or choppy. I've found very few that properly utilize the gorgeous screen and excellent processor of our phone, running in high resolution at 60fps. The ones I've found work well are:
- Endless Universe
- Beautiful Widgets
Any personal experience with *good* live wallpapers for the S4?
EDIT: List of everything posted in this thread so you don't have to scroll through:

Custom beam is pretty nice.
A liquid Cloud is nice too
Fresh leaves is kind of cool too.
I've used a lot and the first 2 above have been the ones I kept using the longest. There are a lot of cool ones out there, but there are way more crappy ones.... you just have to try them

[Q]GIF as wallpaper?

So, I've seen that LWP aren't exactly "smooth", but that got me thinking.
I don't need interactivity in my wallpapers, I just want them to move
So I tried setting a .gif as a wallpaper, but it doesn't move past the first image.
So the questions is: How can you set a .gif as a wallpaper (so that it moves)
You cant

Are you asking about the wallpaper scrolling between homescreens. If yes, GIF wallpapers also scroll.
And the color quality of GIF will be low.

No he wants moving wallpaper (with animations) but not "live", in other words he wants to put animation as his wp, so it moves, but you cant interact with it.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
There was an app that did this. It created an "Empty Livewallpaper" and allowed you to put your animated GIF in it, essentially doing what you are looking for. However, it seems to have been pulled from the market. (Obviously, the reviews were not that good)
It's the closest I can think of. More details here:

Wally removed
well wally was removed from market but i found an app called animGIF livewallpaper 2 but, unfortunately you need live wallpaper support so if your looking not for interactiveness on custom roms but just for the looks of a gif id suggest getting that and getting a live wallpaper compatible rom.

Day/Night and Weather Live Wallpaper on GNexus

Hi All,
I've really enjoyed the stock Windmill live wallpaper that came stock with my Galaxy S2, more importantly the day/night and automatic weather updates.
I noticed that my GNexus did not come with any live weather wallpaper.
Is it possible or has any gotten this windmill live wallpaper from the GS2 onto their GNexus?
Is there any other alternatives other than Beautiful Widgets?
Thanks in advance.
Titanium backup. Or there are apks of it on the web. Personally I just switched to Go Weather with Go Live Wallpaper HD. Free and better.
I installed the apk for the wind mill wallpaper but it doesnt display correctly at all. Just a bunch of block figures without color. I really liked that windmill wallpaper because it didnt seem to take up a lot of memory and was great definition. The live portion of it was just outstanding. I havent found the same quality in other apps that do night/day and weather.
Yea, I had an APK of both the windmill and beach on my Nexus one which worked ok. They don't work on the Galaxy Nexus though.
Closest thing I have now it the live wallpaper from Beautiful widget. Plus the stock grass wallpaper isn't included
the BW live wallpaper is lame.
Wind Mills stock on the G2 was tits! Sure hiRes picture, animations where great. Loved it.
Would pay someone to get this to work on the GNexus.
Is it possible to update the wind mill live wallpaper from the SGS2 to work on the Galaxy Nexus?

Where can I get HD wallpapers for the S2?

It seems like wallapapers that I find/download (even if they are in 800x480 res), look pixelated and not as good looking as they should be on my wallpaper. Anyone know where/how I can make my wallpapers look crisp/hd like the retina wallpapers on the iPhone 4?
Try searching for them in the android market.
There apps for this on market. I used zedge

Thanks for the replies guys. The HD wall papers I found in the market still came out pixelated and distorted when I set them as my wallpaper.
After some google searching, I found out that you have to double the width of the native resolution in Android phones that stretch out the wallpaper over a number of screens vs. one static screen.
For future reference, the Galaxy S2 (480x800 native), needs wallpapers at 960x800 res for it to look nice and crisp. Problem fixed, I'm in love with the S2 screen again =]

HD Widgets vs. Beautiful Widgets on GNex

What would you buy? HD Widgets or Beautiful Widgets?
HD Widgets got an update today and are on sale now. Not sure if it is a good deal.
Maybe somebody tried both?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I have both. I only use HD Widgets because it's very polished. Beautiful Widgets allows you to install different themes for the widgets, which is awesome, but when I used it the selection was unappealing to me. I'm sure there are more themes now, though.
Never used HD Widgets, but Beautiful Widgets has a loooot of themes.
Here's my home screen widget just for reference. I'm using the full screen widget for the Galaxy Note (5x5).

I've had beautiful Widgets since my Droid 1, 2 years ago.
I like it, and for $3 I really got my use out of it. After getting my nexus though, the screen is so brilliant, I kind of don't want to take up half that space with a clock widget. I think I might just finally be done with clock apps, I do remember trying HD widgets way back in the day and deciding on Beautiful Widgets.
I guess for me, I say BW only because I know what I'm getting, and the themes are great. It's really easy to get away from the default HTC look.
I also have both but the new HD Widgets beta version the weather does not work.

For my Nexus I'm using BW since it has a lot of customisation options (although I really hate how the location name disappears under the weather icon for places with long names). I have HDW as well which I use on my Transformer Prime since BW has awful scalability for large screens. I very much prefer the widget layout of HDW but I can't find a theme on it that I really like over BW.

i too have both...BW for phone, HDW for tablet
i hadn't had HDW on my phone in ages and installed the latest 'update'...it was crashing ALL day, even without an active widget i was getting a "hd widgets has crashed" popup, but worse than that for me, the widget was only displaying in farenheit even though i'd selected celsius, which makes it totally useless gibberish
i won't be updating to the new version on my tablet
I have also bought both of them. Beautiful Widgets feels like it works better for a phone interface because the 4x2 Clock/Weather widget looks like it fits better on the screen and is highly themeable (for us who flash new themes and ROMs frequently).
I use HD Widgets for my tablet as the giant clock/weather widgets fit the screen much better than Beautiful Widgets does and the transparency and light theming works on my tablet as i don't flash with it nearly as much.
Just my thoughts
As with some posters above, I am a long-time BW owner, going back to the early days of the OG Droild. I loved it back then. Now, the look of those big clocks with overly-dramatic weather icons looks so 2009 to me.
After getting the GNex, I just couldn't devote so much homescreen space and I didn't want something that looked so "tired" to me, so I bought Make Your Clock Widget Pro. I designed a minimalistic "clock" widget and it's been in service on my GNex for months now. For me, it's perfect, and it's unique - just what I want, how I want it - nothing else.
Consider escaping the BW/HD Widgets look, and just go make your own.
Here’s a screenshot…
Thanks!!!
Make your clock is totally great!
I installed a free version and one widget even works. And this is ok for me.
Not sure if weather works. But I will check that later. Clock was a priority.

You are welcome!
Nice design btw!
HD Widgets beta 3.0.1 latest play store update keeps crashing an constantly sending crash reports to google, chewing the fu#k out of my battery life with crash reports every 2 minutes even with widget removed.

I use Beautiful widgets.

Which is the best Live Wallpaper?

Tell me the live wallpaper which is best of all available on play store... if not 1, then 5! but the Top 5 Live Wallpapers ..
It really depends on your preference, just search and see what you like

In my opinion the original Mood (Blue) ICS Live wallpaper is the best. The movements are extremely fluid + you can easily identify your home screen icons.

Phase beam
Wallpapers from the galaxy pack, without a doubt. It something you can keep for long, and the detail is just beautiful!
