In comparison to SmartqZ this is a toy with a limited functionality. Isn't SmartQ Z a full blown Android 4.3 smartwatch? This is more of a bluetooth extension with caller id and speakerphone.

yeah, but why not have both

does the watch also work as a regular microphone for non-phone apps?
Hi, thanks for the review :good: - I was wondering, does the watch also work as a microphone for non-phone apps like the sound recorder or google voice search?

Sorry, it only does what is supported by BT protocols, so it can't be used as a sound recorder or Google Now search (like when you push multi-function button on in-line remotes of various headphones). But you can do voice dial by speaking a name of a person in your contact list, and it accurately dials it.

I wonder what these smart-watches will evolve into within the next 3 years or so.

I have big phone (inew 6000) and I hoped this gadget wil be usefull but i disappointed (26 Dolars from focalprice)
1. The last dial button is big and i often push it accidentally - annoy me
2. The speaker is quite silent (for empy office is ok but not on street)
3. I see on display icon of smm or email but it dont work

Is it available in india? can anyone send me the link?

Notificstion?
Does the watch have notification for SMS? No need to read the text just notification that it has been received?

Thanks for the review of this humble watch. I ordered one today based upon your review. I have a Windows 8.1 Nokia Lumia 521 (AT&T 520) and need a hands free device for my wrist. You would think this would be an easy find since all headsets have this functionality but noooo. There are a few bands that will ring/vibrate and allow taking a call (all with tiny displays and watch time outs) but no others I can locate that will allow voice calling. None of higher end smartwatches (including the newly released this week Windows sports band which has NO SPEAKER) even allow answering calls for the Windows OS. Experimenting with an old headset, I found I can call and send a text using the Windows personal assistant, Cortana with voice commands (likely send email as well). I am still experimenting with what I can retrieve with Cortana but am hoping for full voice functionality with the watch.

Any program to change my voice during a call?

So that. I'm looking for a program to change my voice in live, during a call.
Is there any??
Thanks!!!

Hi, this is a nice idea
Anyone know?
But I doubt Android allows app to intercept incoming call (hijacking) for security concern.
I might be wrong though ...
Not exactly what you were looking for but Spoofcard does voice changing, as well as spoofing caller ID and recording. They have the SpoofApp in the market. It's a paid service.

Thanks!!
Any other idea?

As an amateur terrorist/outlaw i find this a much needed feature which will easy my day to day work...
Somehow I think an app that masks your voice probably wouldn't go down too well with Google haha
i'm sure i've seen apps that record your calls, maybe someone with a decent coding knowledge can use the api for this to alter your voice

I do not think that Google will authorize an application that in most cases will be used to:
1 .- Ask form ransoms in kidnappings.
2 .- Make jokes to the policeemergency numbers
3 .- Make bomb threats by geek terrorists.
thatd be cool if this existed lol

[fw] i9000xdh09

New Korean firmware on the way with some interesting additions.
Samsung has released a new update for South Korean Galaxy S (SHW-M110S) owners. The update DH09 is not a Froyo update but it does bring worthy additions to the handset. Few visible features are the inclusion of Swype keyboard, ability to record conversations and an app to detects the slope of the magnetic field sensor. Other than that, the DH09 features RAM management, includes a 3G data widget, downloadable fonts and improves on many other fronts like Allshare, Google Maps software, call quality etc. The update is available via Kies.

Wait, record conversations you say? Phone conversations?! That's AWESOME if it works properly! I've been looking for a call recorder for quite some time now but never found a working one since Google provides no APIs for it apparently. This is GREAT news for me if its true!!!

It is also legal in many countries. Why should they be denied the feature simply because it is illegal elsewhere? I find that argument absolutely rubbish. I was able to record my calls perfectly on my Symbian phone 3 years ago. You can do it fine in WM as well if I'm not wrong. It's the lack of VERY basic features like call recording and proper sms delivery report support that I find extremely disappointing and frustrating about the whole Android platform.

Yes, you can do it with Windows Mobile.
There are several applications if your phone supports it.
new voice conversation record button replaces one of big green buttons that show up while calling and all recorded voices are stored in internal sd card within a folder name "sound".
YES it is true!
If someone wants to tinker with the Apps from DH09 release, send me pm.

[Q] Call Recoder

I was wondering if anyone knew of a, preferably free, call recorder for android, that doesnt beep every * minutes etc, and can store files with call name and date etc, and it records both sides of the conversation. Does anyone know of something like this?
bump still looking for one
Me too
Had onkologs ROM on my Touch HD that had one built in and I miss it.
TL;DR Bump
I try all call recorder but unfortunately it on records what eve i say can't able to record both sides so i like to know is DHD is hardware capable to record both sides or not please any one answer.
Thanks
I'd say any phone is capable of recording both sides if you can install the program.
Just need to find a decent one.
please xda ,its time to develope in call recorder for dhd?
i hope u will try to build a new one for android like hd2.
thanks in advance
Don't waste your time. This won't work. You can only achieve recording from speakerphone.
I have been looking into this since WM6.0 with TyTN and it has always been like that. If it is limited by hardware, whatever you do with software it won't work.
All existing applications declare the same.
Anyway, I would be willing to pay for a software that would do this because it is very important feature for me but haven't found any paid apps either.

Didn't they say same regarding Hero? But hey, it finally worked (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806451)
That is the only software I miss since moving to DHD few weeks ago.
Hopefully there will be possibility to record calls soon.
hi again im still wait xda to do that please ?
yes i can promise to donate 50 $ via western union way ,to whom will find a way to record both sides i hope others will promis too even with small donation.
thanks in advance

[Q] Bluetooth keyboard

I have been reading some of the reviews on amazon about some of these mini keyboards, and I'm still adjusting to the onscreen keyboard as I came from the D2 then the TP2 before that, so I would like to know what ones are compatible with android? Does anyone have one? Most people in the reviews say that they can't get them to work with android, so I don't want to waste 20-30-40 bucks just to find out its not compatible with our devices. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Curious about this too, if don't remember seeing anything about bluetooth keyboards working without some hacking.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I guess you and I must be the only ones who care about this.
No...I very much care about this, too. I just tried to pair my Thunderbolt with my Apple wireless keyboard and it did pair. Now, however, it says "paired and not connected" but when I click on the keyboard name it does not do anything. When I press and hold the keyboard name, my only option is to unpair. Not sure how to proceed...
Reading a lot of the reviews on amazon it seems to be a running theme that not all of the BT keyboards are compatible with android. Now, whether that is true or not, I don't know. I was hoping to find someone who has one and can provide some insight. Supposedly, according to the reviews, there are two different protocols for BT and only one(spp, if that makes sense?) works with android. That's the best info I have gathered, but this is strictly based off of reviewers, so I don't actually know anything. So I thought I would bring my question/problem to the smartest community on earth.
I will play around again with my Apple keyboard tonight and see if I can figure this out for you. And for me!
I'm interested as well. Like you, I haven't been able to find any hard info either, and don't want to waste money...
hello, I've been interested in this for a while now…*
here's the BT keyboard i'm considering:
Spider E-BTKB-B001 Black Bluetooth Wireless Ultra Slim Keyboard - seen on newegg ~ $40
although today I tried this app:
market.android.com - Remote Web Desktop
its wifi keyboard feature gets your foot in the door with real keyboard text entry…*haven't tested this for my use case - notes in audible bookmarks - but i look forward to the future development of this Remote Web Desktop application
oops, i can't include links yet
So, if I understood your post correctly, you have already received this and it does work correctly? Can you post some pics to show how big it is compared to the phone? Thanks for the post.

I can confirm that my buddy's apple bt keyboard works with my TB, but my dell bt keyboard does not.
Can you provide the keyboard model that worked?
I have a no name mini bt keyboard that pairs but will not connect with my unrooted thunderbolt..
The one I have is an unbranded keyboard

Intrigued, I would really like to know also. Is that the one for the Xoom?
I've got one of those no-name (actually a company called magic-pro) bluetooth keyboards, and I've tried every app/driver out there that I've been able to find to get the danged thing to work. So far the most useful thing on it is the laserpointer, it's a great cat toy. The bluetooth dongle does work pain-free with a Windows 7 machine, but that's not why I got the thing. Going to keep on trying new revisions, hopefully I'll hit something eventually that doesn't require rooting.

Which one did you buy?

Display the company name of the contact that is calling you?

I use my phone for business.
I have thousand of people in my contacts.
I want to see caller's name and company before I pickup the phone.
iPhone can do this, how about Android?
phone>settings>callerid &spam. Google tries to provide the name of the caller if not in your contacts list. In the past I remember having choices as to what it used to obtain the callers information. I cant find that anymore.

I already tried both of them.
Smart Notify is working if phone is not locked. If it is locked then full screen caller id come, than no callers's company info shown.
Call informer was the App i was using 4 years ago. I already tried it since i swicthed back to android.
Unfortunately it doesn't work with newest android phones. Like my Pixel 3 XL.
But it works great with Asus zenfone 3. Which has android 8.0.0
It would be great if there is an update to call informer.
