[Q] Stuck HTC One X with an empty internal sdcard? - HTC One X

Hi all,
Today after having weak wifi issue on my stock rom, decided to flash Maximus 21.0 rom 4.2.2.
Flashed kernel and then installed rom succesfully (it booted only once)
Then I updated rom with 21.1 ota.zip with wifi fix.
After this update my phone is stuck on "htc brilliant quality" boot screen.
Accidentally I had formatted the SDCARD as well
(so I don't have any rom.zip file inside sdcard)
I can enter into TWRP recovery, I can see fastboot screen, I can flash boot.img from cmd.
What do you suggest to do?
I would like to flash 4.2.2 stock rom or arhd 31.2 into the device if I succeed to copy rom into sdcard.
HBOOT version : 1.72
HTC One X Tegra 3
CID HTC__203
Thanks for your help.

Hello, I had almost the same problem as you do. What I did was ,downloading the rom you want to install to your PC (put it into "C:/" directory (easier)),then get into recovery -connecting phone via USB - type adb devices in cmd to check if your pc recognizes your phone if it does type "adb push c:/"ROM NAME.zip /sdcard/ when completed type adb shell in CMD after that - "ls /sdcard/" check if you see your rom if you see it choose install from sdcard or something like that and install .If you do not see the file google "adb push" commands .Hope I helped ,sorry if something doesn't make sense I'm tired. I'll check this post frequently to see if I can help anymore.
EDIT:IF you want to install stock rom ,download it ,push it and recover. You should have in mind that if you get error installing system you should flash the proper recovery

Flash this recovery .
http://db.tt/7Pcsg6sj
Then go into mounts & storage and mount as usb storage !
Leave it for a minute or so and the sdcard pop ups at windows. Copy a rom .....
sent from my venomized piece of technology

Thanks for the reply i've done it by using twrp & cwm recovery and selecting 'mount usb storage' this time it gave mounting sdcard error with twrp but rom flashing succeeded with cwm.

First you will need to reflash your recovery while your phone is in fastboot mode, you can do this by opening a cmd and using the command 'fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilehere.img' and changing recoveryfilehere for your recovery file's name.
I am a bit unsure on these next steps but I believe you will then need to boot into the recovery you just installed and then use the following commands.
'adb devices'
'adb shell'
'mount sdcard'
and then in another cmd you will use the command 'adb push ROMNAME.zip /sdcard
then reboot into recovery and look for your ROM in the root of your sd card and install it as usual. Don't forget to flash the kernal too.
I tried these steps but didnt get result
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26119526&postcount=17 and adapt to yours.
i tired many times , but each time get message " error:device not found" :S
Do you have HTC USB driver installed ?
yes i did
So it means that you're successfully boot into recovery by fastboot boot recovery.img and adb not working for you ?
Please note, adb will not work when you do fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

HTC One X won't boot

I am relatively new to the android rooting scene and have installed a file from zip using clockwork recovery to remove the 3 dot menu from applications but afterward my phone now doesn't boot, its just stuck at the HTC ONE screen i have tried factory reset from clockwork and it didn't work. i am wiling to do anything even if everything is erased and if it could be mac friendly even better but anything is fine

I guess you are on a stock rooted rom?
Seems the version provided in the thread was incompatible with the stock rom version your are currently on:
A few solutions:
1. Search a custom rom in the development threads and flash it, choose an ICS rom though if its a sense rom..flashing a jellybean rom is a bit more advanced and isnt suggested for beginners.
2. If you know which stock rom your are using (1.28, 1.29 or 2.17) you can search for a corresponding rom and push/flash just the android.policy.jar from it back to yoru device - thats the file taht got overwritten when you flashed the 3dot removal zip.
3. If you got a nandroid backup, just revert to your backup in recovery.
...there are a few other solutions, which requires relocking your bootloader etc.
IF your are already rooted I would suggest to flash a custom rom, this is the easiest way to get your oen x back to live and running a custom rom can bring a lot of advantages: better battery life, smoother UI and a lot of stuff that enhances the user experience on the One X.
Cheers, Jan
Restore a nandroid from before you flashed the mod. Or find your relevant ruu, relock your bootloader and run the ruu from your pc

Accessing sd card even if device does not boot is still possible, using adb in recovery mode.
If You have cwm recovery flashed, just boot into recovery, if you dont flash revocery and boot into it.
If You are unable to flash recovery do direct boot into recovery as follows:
You need fastboot binaries and recovery image
1. reboot device into fastboot
2. open command window ( cmd, bash, whatever )
3. use this command "fastboot.exe boot recovery.img" where recovery.img is filename for recovery image
4. You device should be now in recovery mode.
Now, for the magic
You need adb binaries.
1. open command window
2. type "adb devices" this should show device id confirming adb's ability to communicate with device
3. using recovery on the phone mount sdcard
assuming You use clockworkmod recovery:
3.1. select "mounts and storage"
3.2. select "mount /sdcard", if successfull, this entry will change into "umount /scard", dont select it again, leave Your phone on the desk and proceed
4. to copy files to device sdcard, use command window You opened previously,
5. type "adb push FILE_NAME.ZIP /sdcard/FILE_NAME.ZIP" where filename is rom zip or any other file You want to copy.
6. depending on file size, this may take some time, and it will seem line nothing is happening, just let it run for couple of minutes.
7. go back to You device.
8. select "umount /sdcard"
9. select "+++Go Back+++"
10. flash you rom from copied file if You need.

Hi there, I am trying to follow these instructions but when i type adb devices I dont get a device listed at all, please help as I flashed the boot.img right before I was about to install a new rom but the rom had errors and so the installation was aborted and now im stuck in an eternal boot loop.
please help!
ADB commands only work in recovery or when you're booted in Android (not possible in your case). What you need to do is put your phone in fastboot mode and get into recovery from there (plenty of info on how to do that available on these forums).
Once you're in recovery mode ADB devices list should show your device and then follow the rest of those instructions.
If you can't get into fastboot from your bootloop force phone off by holding power button for 5 second, then once off hold volume down only and phone should boot in fastboot

[Q] Install ROM via fastboot?

Am trying to install cyanogenmod onto my OneX and did a full wipe/format of everything from CMW including sdcard, but now cant find a way to get the zip file onto my sdcard to install the new rom. I dont have a backup of any kind unfortunately
When I run 'adb devices', nothing shows up in the list. I can connect via fastboot, but the rom wont install from there.
Can anyone advise how to install the rom from here? I have searched but no luck so far
Thanks in advance, Barry
bootloader: unlocked via htcdev
hboot 1.3.9
recovery: cwm 5.8.3.1
adb: 1.0.31
htc drivers: latest

Tried that already and got no luck unfortunately - nothing listed as connected
Flash this recovery first......
http://db.tt/Krlm4dPs
Rename it to recovery.img and flash it
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter it and go to mounts and storage and tap the last option in the list ! It will mount the sdcard as a mass storage device .....
Then copy the CM10.1, the GAPPS and the VENDOR INSTALLER
http://db.tt/u5FF3jgi
Full wipe already done ? Then install CM10.1 and GAPPS and VENDORS without rebooting the phone !
Then type :
Adb reboot bootloader
(when the command does not work you hold the volume - and the power button pressed until you see the bootloader)
When it boots to the bootloader you flash the boot.img from the CM10.1 rom and then you reboot !
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot
Done !

I flashed the 5.8.4.0 touch recovery direct from clockworkmod and then was able to mount sdcard as your suggestion (prefer to get direct from source). Brilliant, thanks a bunch!
CM10 now installed, about to start config
Good
CASE CLOSED !
Please give me the links to files
I also have this same problem in my One X, as this ..
actually, I can go to fastboot to flash img & can go to CWM Recovery (v5.8.1.8),
then connect the USB flash drive to USB OTA cable, then try to "mounts and storage",
but It always shown on screen as "E: Unable to open ums lunfile (no such file or directory)"
Please give me the links to recovery.img and CM10.1, the GAPPS and the VENDOR INSTALLER, follow by your suggestion.
I will try to follow your step, and hope it would be work for me.
thank you very much in advance.

[Q] HELP!!! my phone keep accesses in the recovery

Problem!!!!
I am a galaxy nexus user. I downloaded the latest version update zip(4.2-beta 3). Then i access in the recovery and choose the "choose zip from sdcard", then i install the latest zip what i download before, but the the error occurred "no file_contexts". Then my phone keep access in the recovery, i cant access the rom. What can i do!? Please someone help me!!!!!! I am the beginner of this area!!!!!!! pls help me
someone said "Prepare your previous worked rom zip file, adb & fastboot app and drivers. Place all in one folder, ex. C:/adb. Connect the phone to computer while in recovery. Open CMD, point to your adb application folder. Then type "C:/adb" (without mark), then "adb devices", cmd will detect your phone. If it says XXXX online, then you can continue. Still in CMD C:/adb, type "adb push romname.zip \sdcard\0". After that, check your phone for copied rom."
is it work?
It looks like you're trying to install ParanoidAndroid, but tell us, do you even have a custom recovery (CWM/TWRP/PhilZ) yet? And is it up to date enough to flash 4.4.x ROMs?

Soft Bricked HTC one X not detecting adb pushed ROM

I hope all of you would be fine.
I was trying to install a custom ROM in my HTC one X via CWM recovery. I formatted the system partition (ROM) and tried to flash the new ROM. I ended up soft bricking my phone as the ROM file was corrupt. I tried to push another ROM.zip file into the phone memory via adb. My phone shows up in fastboot devices when it's turned on but it's not detected as adb device. When I turn it off then it shows up in the attached adb devices list. I used the adb push command to transfer the ROM file into the phone memory and cmd tells me it's done as it shows the transfer speed and the size of ROM file. Now the issue is that when I try to search for that ROM file in CMW recovery, it's not there in the memory.
It's been three days since I have been trying to make my phone alive but nothing seems to work.
Any help from you guys would really be appreciated
*My phone shows up in abd devices only when it's turned off.
*The adb pushed ROM.zip file is not present in the phone memory.
*All the drivers are correctly installed and my phone is listed as 'My HTC' in device manager.
Hey there, sorry for a late answer, but right now I have some town-wide internet problems, so...
Back to your problem then, if you cant have any result with adb push, try to use another method:
1. Complete steps at this link https://twrp.me/htc/htconexinternational.html to install twrp
2. Reboot to your twrp recovery
3. Choose "Mount" option and mount any partition you need(depending on your layout), after this step, you can access you phone storage with you pc.
4. Now you can wipe everything you want, do not reboot, and go to "install" option.
5. Just copy/paste you ROM, install it, reboot to fastboot, flash boot.img
Done.
Have a nice day.
