[Q] Bluetooth choppy playback with Wifi on - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I've paired my Note with my car stereo and have enjoyed Bluetooth music playback through music stored on my device. It's been spotless, great quality. Then I turned on the Note's wifi to connect to my phone's hotspot and all of a sudden the music plays very choppily and starts skipping every few seconds. I'm not even streaming the music either, it's being played from internal storage, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Is this just a shortcoming of the Note 8.0 out of the box? Do I have to install a better ROM or is there a fix?

It's something I've found to be a flaw in just about every device. Previous research lead me to find out that it's a hardware limitation because they share the same chip (Bluetooth & Wi-Fi). Different ROMs don't seem to matter from my testing. It first came to my attention trying to watch Netflix while using a Bluetooth stereo headset a long time ago in other devices.

[Q] Bluetooth audio issue on stock 4.3

Really annoyed at myself for taking the upgrade to 4.3 as now I have an issue with bluetooth that I cannot figure out. Bluetooth audio to my reciever was perfect before but now it has the same problem no matter what app i use (tune in, xiilive, standard media player etc)
Basically the phone sends the audio but the speed varies. Like a song will play normal speed, then maybe speed up for a second, then the audio cuts out for half a second and its back to normal again. This will stream fine for maybe 5 seconds and again, any audio will speed up a bit, and cut out. Its only happened since 4.3. Anyone else have this problem or know of a way to fix it?
Well a bit of an update on this. It turns out it doesnt skip with music thats on the phone. So the stock media player and mp3s etc stream totally fine. Its just with audio that is streamed via apps like winamp, Xiilive, Tune in. They all have exactly the same problem as described above. However, the only way I can get it to stop skipping and run normally is if the screen is on and I am in the Wifi networks setting page. Its fine then, until the screen goes off, then it starts to skip again. This is so annoying now. Is it an android issue? Not connected to bluetooth through normal headphones or the Note 2 speaker, all these apps are perfect.

Streaming bluetooth audio while moto 360 synced question

Hello,
Just wonder if I am alone on this one. I noticed today that when I stream music on my note3 to my car while being connected to the moto that the must quality dropped. I use Google play all access paid feature. This has never happened before when I didn't have the watch synced.
Has anyone else heard of this? I am going to try to use spotify tonight and see if it was a Google server issues or my signal.
Thank you
Custom rom?
It's possible the music streaming is maxing out the bluetooth and the watch updating itself is just too much, but for a Note 3 it should be no sweat...
I havent noticed any problem like that... you sure your audio quality from the play music itself isnt lower?
same here, no problem..same situation, same quality
Does anyone know how to NOT have Google music on the watch? I took it away from notification on the wear app but it still happens. I don't want to see what is playing or skip to next track on the watch.. For this reason and i'm sure its killing battery lift if I go on a long trip if it updates after each song.
I haven't noticed any problems. Nexus 5, All Access, with my BT speaker and in my Mazda, it works same as before I had the watch.

I notice the audio from my car cuts out or stutters. This is when I have my watch connected to my phone too. I never had this issue prior to the watch.
I'm using a LG G2 running Optimus 1.3.2 rom
On the latest PA Beta 2 Rom on my Nexus 5 and no issues connecting to my HTC Stereo clip. Used with spotify, poweramp, n7 player and other players as well.
I'm having an issue with audio dropping out and being interfered with too. Oneplus One, Moto 360, Audi Bluetooth audio. Very frustrating. Sometimes I can hear the quality level of the music change when it drops out, almost like it's trying different bitrates or codecs to fix the issue.
Least I am not the only one, but mine never actually drops. But I can just tell the quality go down. Like going from 256kb to 128kb..This is even music that loaded on my phone, Not spotify or Pandora.
Are you using ART or Dalvik runtime? This was happening to me after switching to Dalvik. Switching back to Dalvik solved it.
I noticed the audio quality drop as well on my HTC One m7, stock rooted. I first noticed it dropped slightly after getting a bluetooth obd reader but it wasn't enough to really worry about. Then, after getting my moto 360, the quality dropped even more to the point I had to stop using bluetooth for streaming music and use an auxiliary cable instead. So, it seems it's just using up too much of whatever bluetooth bandwidth is available so the audio quality drops in order to compensate.
I have this problem to, using a LG G3 with ART, I have to disconnect the moto 360 from the phone to have a good audio.
No problems here with my Note 3 connected to my M360 and Ford Sync.
This is a question I keep checking on too. Seems like the common factor for people not having issues drive a Ford, using Ford Sync.
I drive a Toyota [emoji107]
I've switched roms on my Lg G2. Im currently running Liquid Smooth (with ART enableD) and have not had any issues. I am streaming from my Google Music and bluetooth is connected to watch and my car. Cutting out and stutters are gone.
So may be ROM specific?
Small update; connected to a a Pioneer AVH- 200BT and the watch with no issues.
I'm having the same problem. My Moto 360 is constantly connected to my stock Moto x (original). When I stream audio over bluetooth from my phone to my car radio, the phone and radio randomly lose their connection to each other. Sometimes they appear to be paired and my phone says that it's playing, but no audio is coming out of the radio, so I have to cycle the phone's bluetooth off & on again to get audio working again.
Edit: I just found a thread on Motorola's official forum for the 360. Matt, the forums manager, thinks that the bluetooth capacity of the phone is being overloaded.
No issues with my note 2 connected to watch and my Hyundai car audio

After some more testing I still have the same issue, Works perfect with watch disconnected. There isn't some kind of widget or toggle that can discount/reconnect only the watch is there? without going to the wear app.
But I did find this, it has something with the music controls on the watch. I was uninstalling Spotify and reinstalling it. Before the watch was synced knowing I have the spotify app, I was able to use the app and play perfect audio. Of course this doesn't last long before the watch kicks in. After doing more re-search we CANT disable the controls on the watch no matter what. Least with the current version we are on, Hopefully that will change.

Bluetooth Music Issues?

Anyone having any problems running aftermarket roms? I'm on Liquidsmooth and I am extremely dissapointed in the bluetooth quality. About to go back to stock or get rid of the tablet to just use my tab pro instead. IT doesn't skip or pause but it like, mutes for a second every 5 or so seconds. Its not consistent. But it happens soo much it gets me really angry. I'm on a fresh copy of LiquidSmooth. Haven't really done anything and nothing is running in the background that could be taking up all the system resources. I've even tried multiple music players even tho they all are horrible except PowerAmp which still doesn't have a tablet mode years after said feature was in the works.
You know of any fixes?
Googled Android Bluetooth Skip and seems its a very common problem among a few devices including the Note 4.... I don't have any issues with my Tab Pro, Just Tab S... This is bugging me because its main function is to play Music Via Bluetooth. Would prefer it through RCA/3.5mm but I don't have one
Had the same problem with my phone, solved it by adding the bluetooth device as a trusted device, so that when connected to bluetooth speaker the phone doesnt lock its self, done the same on my tab s and no problems streaming music using google music, as far as i can figure out its related to the kernel lowering the cpu speed when the screen locks, so you may be able to solve the prob using a kernel manager and increasing the idle speed, but personally i like the phone not locking when listening to music as i can access the player without unlocking, making it easier to put on a different album or song, hope this helps

Use to have similar issues with the stock player on another device.
Solved it with Playerpro.
Install from play then in the app open settings then go to Audio.
Select to install the dsp pack then make sure it's active.
You will see a new option 'Audio buffer' change this to large. See how you go.
Seems to me also like an audio buffering issue (I think PowerAmp has a larger one by default). You could try raising the minimum CPU frequency since this us often the cause for problems kind this.
On that note, don't forget that none TW based ROMs don't have support for the APT-X codec that provides vastly better audio quality over Bluetooth as long as your audio adapter/headphones/car audio supports it as well. Nothing to do with the issue at hand though.
Its not a buffering issue. Its an audio pause issue. Its extremely common with Note 4 and some others. I solved it by going to a TouchWiz OEM style rom. The AOSP roms seem to all do it. Adjusting buffering settings changes nothing. Its as if the bluetooth drivers aren't capable of handling the "power" of whats going on. The Music still plays during the pause.
So far TW Roms seem to be the best for Bluetooth Audio. I use it daily since the Tablet is the main front end to my car, with a Sony 610BT AppRemote Deck.

bluetooth radio not starting music player

On previous phones, when the phone was attached to my car radio via bluetooth, and I switched my car radio (pioneer AVIC8100) to bluetooth mode, a music player (usually the last one used) would start running on the phone and start playing a track.
With this note 5, this isn't happening. BT connects fine, but the music player doesn't start at all.
If I run the music player myself (tapping on the screen) then everything works normally - therefore the problem isn't in the pairing or that "media player" isn't selected. (I know XDA users.. 50 people are still going to suggest that I make sure that I have "media audio" turned on in the BT settings even AFTER reading that media playing works fine if I spawn it manually.)
Anyone have any ideas?
(Please resist the urge to reply sarcastically. This issue is really starting to annoy me and my sense of humor in regards to it is GONE.)
I would love to DISABLE this feature.. as I hate it myself.
My Note 5 does start playing automatically as soon as it connects to my car's Bluetooth.
Hate it.

Bluetooth audio stutter/skipping

This is incredibly frustrating. I had none of these issues with bluetooth on my S8+ whatsoever.
So one annoying thing that stood out was the bluetooth on this device. It keeps skipping and stuttering tracks whenever I play it on my Bose QuietComfort 35. It's normal on all my other wired cans but I usually use the QC35 alongside my phone during commutes.
Just to clarify, I'll list down all the "fixes" that I've tried. Obviously NONE of them fixed, or even alleviated the problem.
Cleared cache (this one just doesn't make sense imo)
Removed battery optimization on my music apps
Turned off WiFi & Bluetooth scanning
Switch Bluetooth audio codecs
Updated to 4.7.6
and PLEASE... if you DON'T have this problem, do NOT post how you DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM here, I'm looking for fixes, not jokes. Thank you.
I also have a QC35 and I don't have any issue but I post anyway
Joking aside I'm using 4.7.6 and my QC35's firmware is 1.3.4 and using the HBC codec.
What's your bose firmware ?
What do you use as a music player ? (I'm using the default Google Play music)
And what do you mean my "It's normal on all my other wired cans" ? Why would wired headphones have stutters ?

Everything's the same as you except I use PowerAmp as my music player and SoundCloud for streaming (both stutters/skips as well). I stated that I didn't have this problem on my wired headphones just to clarify.
I notice the problem most when I'm commuting and I have mobile data turned on. It went even more haywire when I downloaded something on Google Drive. Hopefully it gets addressed with Android Oreo and the official Bluetooth audio codecs being implemented.
Oh bad me I read the you said it was normal to have stutters while being red... Night too short.
I'll trying PowerAmp to see how it goes.

I think it has something to do more with the connections. It goes even bonkers when I'm moving around rather than laying in one place.

I think I saw somewhere it's an issue with aptx HD, try to force Bluetooth codec in advanced settings to aptx or sbc.

I just said that switching Bluetooth codecs didn't work.
I'm having Bluetooth quality issues as well, particularly crackling and skipping. I noticed that if I download a file while streaming the quality will drop dramatically and the audio stream will crackle like crazy. I have tried all three codecs in nougat to no avail.
Should I upgrade to Oreo to get this sorted? Do custom kernels cause issues with the quality?
Thanks.
OnePlus 5t, theOne 7.1.1 (stock basically), viper4arise and Dolby
Update: when into EX Kernel Manager (specifically under the misc I/O settings), and change the I/O from ZEN to FIOPS. Not once has the music stuttered since, though I have only tested on SBC. If I get more results I'll bring them in.
Please note - I am on blu_spark, and I honestly do think it may have been the cause of the bluetooth skips/scratchiness. I turned off Dolby Atmos and Viper just to be sure.
Latest Oreo Beta build. Stream bluetooth, Pandora, iHeart and talk on the hands free no problems here. Lexus CT200h vehicle.
Would really check your cars manufacturer website. Most have a section where you can download latest firmware to a USB and flash your car to ensure you have the latest bluetooth firmware.
Working flawlessly on my car.
Anyone have any experience with the Oreo update?
Since updating to 4.7.6, I've experienced the following issues:
despite being connected to a bluetooth device, sound still comes out of phone speakers
static/distortion for a few minutes when initially connected to my car (2017 Chevy SS)
Upon connecting to car bluetooth, randomly the phone will call my phone number
I can usually fix these issues by either going into airplane mode for a minute or two or rebooting. Sometimes, I have to do this multiple times.
I've cleared cache but made no difference and I don't want to have to factory reset after every single update. Is it possible to flash factory images without nuking your data? You can do this with Google's Nexus/Pixel factory images.
I've got a different problem with 8.1 and BT audio. After upgrading to android 8.1, suddenly my car audio system doesn't receive songs data (artist, song, album). It's just display "no title".
Does anyone encountered similar issue?

Ugh, exact same issue. I don't suppose you're using a car with a UConnect system in it? Dodge, Jeep? All those crappy brands?
I am able to make phone calls just fine but I can't stream audio to save my f**king life. This happened right after the upgrade to 8.1 and latest update did nothing to fix this nor did it mention the issue. Has Oneplus even acknowledged the issue?
Im actually having the same exact issue, with Uconnect on a 2017 Chrysler 300s. Bluetooth skipping and sounds like crap. Have tried pretty much everything so far and no fixes
this what happen to me ...bluetooth to speaker klipsch ... sometimes got crack sound ...i mean wtf
Has anyone been able to figure this out? I'm still experiencing issues as well. OP5T and QC35.
I've been working OP support for almost 2 months via email and the cannot figure out how to fix this for be BT CALLS sound terrible,
I'm having problems with Bluetooth in a ford fiesta 2015. The phone is on 8.1.0 stock, no root. The device itself connects to the car perfectly, but fails to download the phone book, and says I loose signal when trying to make a call. The device registers that I've asked to call a certain person but nothing else happens afterwards.
I didn't have this problem on 5.0.4
