[Q] Note 2 Won't Receive Data Packets on WiFi!!?? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi all,
I recently sent my phone in and got it back probably little less than a week ago. Samsung had to replace the motherboard on my phone as it had the infamous SDS syndrome. I just realized the other day that when I connect it to WiFi at home, I can't upload my apps on the Play Store. I can still surf the web and everything, but most of the apps just don't connect to the web.
Is there a solution to this or do I have to send it again? As you probably know I don't want to do that because it's extremely frustrating. Should I try doing a reset to see if this helps the solution or ?
I know that it worked on another WiFi hot spot (my work) on Friday, so this issue just happened recently. I'm pretty tempted to do a hard reset since I don't have everything downloaded and reloading my contacts won't be that big of an issue. Any recommendations will help. It also states that my WiFi download speed at home is 72MBPS when I check the network I'm connected too.
Many thanks in advance for the help!
EDIT: I have not rooted my phone and don't plan too anytime soon. I'm considering on selling this so I can get the Note 3, but after the couple of issues lately, not sure if I wanna stick with the Note at all.
EDIT 2: Weird, it seems like it works in my room but not in my living room...I just realized that now which is extremely annoying, any solutions or suggestions as to what might be causing this?
EDIT 3: And it's not working again...I cancelled the download and tried downloading it again and it works again! This is frustrating....any help would be appreciated!

Just noticed that it seems like I can download most apps that have less than 10MB...any solution to this? If not I might just don't a reset later on tonight.

[Q] 3G slow to respond

Hey everyone, I'm new here to the forum and have had my EVO for about 6 months now. First things first, I have searched quite a bit and havent really found problems specific to mine on here or google. Maybe I am just not searching for the right thing so bare with me please. A few months after I got it, I started realizing the 3g would take a long time to respond sometimes. For example, I would type in a web address and hit go and the 3g icon on the status bar would not do anything for sometimes up to 1 minute causing the browser to display (page not found). Other apps that require internet do this as well. One day I decided to do a factory reset and the problem went away. After a few weeks, it came back so i did another reset and fixed it. Now back to the same old problem. Finally got tired of doing resets so I'm trying to find out the real solution to the problem. I constantly clean the cache. Previously I did it manually, but now I use cache cleaner which seems to do a good job. I have also tried speed boost lite which doesnt do a bad job either but uninstalled since i like cache cleaner better. Profile and PRL updates help only for a short time even though it didnt really update after checking software versions. I've taken the phone to sprint, they've checked it out, said its fine, and that 10-30 seconds is normal and nothing to complain about. Maybe that would be the case if it was NORMAL but it is not. Has anyone heard of this or have any ideas to fix it? Sorry for all of the reading but if you have any advice at all, it is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Cameron
Well there 3g service is down the drain right now and the lack of good ping could be the reason so my guess is 3g sucks it happens to my evo a lot so I use wifi and 4g when I can

Thanks for your reply. I'm am happy with the 3G most of the time. At my house, it is almost as fast my wifi (no i dont have slow internet at home either lol). I have no problem streaming HQ Pandora, youtube, and netflix in crystal clear quality on 3G. It is not the network, it is an issue with the phone, a setting, or an app that is causing the problem. If I was to factory reset the phone right now, the problem would go away. I just dont want to reset it anymore and have to reinstall everything. Time to try to figure out the real problem and stop taking the lazy way around
That is weird could be your phone you could back up your apps with titanium backup and restore away or try to unroot then reroot

i just reset, I did forget to mention in the OP that i am not rooted. Haven't gotten the balls to do it yet. I haven't found a good thread to read up on to root yet. Not that i've been looking that hard. I would like to root very soon though
Best way to root I think is unrevoked you need a computer but its easy as pie there are also guides on YouTube
sent from my Motorola XOOM
ya i tried that before but every time i try something goes wrong and i cant do it. Even when i follow videos my phone just doesnt do the same thing as theirs for some reason. lol who knows
Just for ****s and giggles I gave it another go on rooting with unrevoked. Actually got it this time. I have no clue what happened last time. Went smoothly this time. So just basic root, nothing fancy. All i really wanted out of the root was wireless tether. Still want to figure out the unresponsive 3G issue though before it happens again
Glad to hear your on the dark side (rooted) you can learn a lot just by being rooted
evo on cm7
Ya its nice so far but the reset did not fix the unresponsive 3G. Ugh its so annoying! Nobody has any ideas?!
Flash your first rom and do a nandroid
evo on cm7
I am now running cm7 nightly build 83 off of rom manager. I love it!
I'm not having the 3g issue now. Internet seems much faster on this rom

[Q] GPS Not Connecting...

I am on my 3rd GS3. The issue I am having is that my Navigation programs (default and telenav) will search and search for satellites, but won't connect. But when I restart my phone, it will work fine for a day or two then back to no connection.
I have spoken to Sprint and this is an unreported problem... until me. So, Sprint will replace my device. I am unrooted and completely stock. I know that Sprint is in Nashville, TN working on installing the 4gLTE towers. It isn't live yet, but they will turn on and off periodically.
I have searched these threads and I have not heard of any others with this issue. My first GS3 was rooted, but I have not done the two replacements. This has only occurred on an unrooted device.
Has anyone heard of this issue and know a resolution? I am considering rooting again to see if that is a fix. This is not a horrible issue, it is much better than a device that won't boot, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Currently Rooted running the people's rom (3.06) GPS works flawlessly. I have tested and used Scout (By Telenav) Telenav, and Google Maps with no issues at all (tested in FL, MS, And parts of AL during my drive there and back) Haven't had any issues tho.
Mine worked fine while unrooted but started not initializing for startup apps that needed it after i rooted it. I would have to go to the app directly for it to start the GPS. Otherwise the app would continuously look for location. Unfortunately I haven't been able to narrow it down to any one Rom or kernel. Any one else with this issue?

I have the same issue but haven't been able to figure out the cause either. Notice it mostly when I set my destination from my house, and wifi connected, then change location after leaving, and phone has kicked over to 3G.

Before I returned my phone for another replacement, I decided to delete all of the apps that I had downloaded. I then rebooted my phone. After 2 days, it worked fine. I then began installing apps one by one. I figured the problem had to be app specific and only apps that use gps. There was one of two apps I decided was the culprit: Facebook or JuiceDefender. I installed Facebook and it worked fine for 2 days. Ample time for the issue to appear. I have figured out that all along JuiceDefender is the problem. It is shutting off GPS like it is supposed to, but not turning it on when it is supposed to. The problem started when I reverted to stock and took the OTA Android update. I am just embarrassed that it took until now to look at the apps as the problem and not the phone. I am going to contact JD and let them know what I have found. I hope there can be a fix, JD really works well... except for my gps!
Anyways, look at apps first as the problem child before running to a repair shop (like I did!) .
Hope this helps others...

JD is designed to disable data connection to conserve battery, You can set it for a threshold where it will keep the connection alive if it's transmitting information back and forth.. (Must have Ultimate for that i believe) So if your disabling the data connection, then it'll kill GPS.
It is set on balanced. That is why I didn't think of juice defender first. Never had this issue until android updated.

I am having the same problem. My GPS will work, but for me, it's only for about 15 mins or so (while in an App that starts it). Then, if I stay in the app, it will just lose connection. If I exit the App, and the GPS turns off, then when I go back it, it will not turn on again. It isn't like it is searching and it doesn't get a signal...it never turns on. The only thing to bring it back is to reboot. I noticed it while on a custom ROM (TPR) and thought it must be that, so I flashed back to stock. Still the same thing. I then tried doing a factory reset. Still not working properly. Anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I took it in to Sprint they said it was the bad antenna and will give me a refurbish phone. This phone is less than a month old and why I will take a refurbish phone. Like I bought a brand new car and come in for a fix and they took me to the use car lot for a factory certificated car.
So I sent to Samsung and they claimed replacing a part and got the phone back, same problem is still happening.
Anyone can help us on this. It seems a common issue to a few of us.
Here is a simple GPS fix that works well.

[Q] Major WiFi issue out of nowhere?

Hey all. I need some advice. This morning my G3 (D850) dropped WiFi connection for no reason. It says the signal is good but the network info says saved, secured. It will attempt to connect over and over again and if it does connect the signal is weak as can be and it drops the connection within 2 seconds. My coworker has a G3 also and is connected to the same work network I am. His connection says excellent where as mine said good. His device connects just fine with full bars. I'm baffled. I've already tried manually selecting 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz instead of auto select and that didn't help at all. I've tried manually turning off WiFi and turning it back on. I've tried turning airplane mode on and then off to refresh the connection and that didn't help. I've done a battery pull as someone in one of the android authority forums suggested that (apparently I am not the only one having this issue.), didn't work. I've unchecked WiFi optimization - no dice. There was another post on a different forum here on XDA that said turning off WiFi and then deleting the WiFi config folder located in data/etc/wifi and then rebooting fixed the issue for them so I tried that. After reboot when I tried to turn on WiFi my G3 rebooted itself. Does it everytime. SO, I had to restore to a nandroid backup (btw I'm on rooted stock 10f) to get the phone to stop hating my WiFi toggle attempts. Last ditch effort I did a factory reset hoping for an easy fix... Nope. I don't know what else to try. It was fine yesterday all day. This morning it was perfectly fine and then randomly started having this issue. I haven't altered any system files whatsoever. I really don't want to send my device to LG for warranty replacement so I'm hoping someone can help me out that may have had this issue and resolved it. The only difference between my device and my coworkers device is he is still on 10d and I am on 10f. That could be the issue I guess but that doesn't really explain why my device has been perfectly fine until this morning and I've been on rooted 10f for weeks. I am planning on flashing back to straight bone factory stock 10d when I get home here in a few hours from work but Idk if that will help or not. Judging from the amount of google search results of "LG G3 WiFi connection problems" this seems to be an issue for several people. I won't know if it's on the software side or hardware side until I get home but in the meantime has anyone had these issues at all? People have had success in changing to Static IP but I would have to do that for every connection I attempt to connect to and that's a pain in the a$$. Also, that does nothing to identify the root cause of the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. =)

Thanks for the reply. So it turned out my phone just randomly decided it doesn't like my work network anymore. Idk why lol. I got home and it hooked right into WiFi. Gf's WiFi and open networks as well. I call shenanigans. I went ahead and flashed back to 10d anyway though.

I am having the same issue! But it is happening in other networks too...sometimes I get the phone to connect but it only works for a while and when I check the networks it only says Saved, even if I try to connect again
Having the same issue, whether at work or home, my wifi has become near useless. I've even gone as far as trying a different ROM. Didn't work.
Same thing here
I also have tried factory reset, installed a new ROM, changed settings in my router... but the problem remains I don't know what to do anymore, I use wifi a lot!! I searched through other topics but no one seem to know how to solve it. Unfortunately my warranty already expired, I took my phone to some technicians but honestly it didn't help at all...they all said it was a software bug and I should wait for an update but if it was just that a new ROM would fix it,right?
I am not very familiar with phone hardware but I assume that if it was a hardware problem I wouldn't be able to turn it on or connect to any network, right?? (any experts here???)
Any solution is welcomed.
anyone please?? :crying:
P.S : I tried a new baseband, new kernel and new ROMs. So far, nothing changed.
I can connect sometimes but get kicked out within minutes. At other times I only get the saved, secured message.
This is happening in every network

[solved] Slow WiFi connection (youtube, facebook..), though fast inet

Dear folks!
I have been experiencing a significant problem for a while already and looking for how to solve it, and I hope someone of you can give me some help. Any advice appreciated. I couldnt find any concrete solution for this.
Let me start to explain you.
My sister is actually the one using Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (not rooted, Android 4.4.2), and we both have the same problem. Mine is Samsung Galaxy S Relay (rooted, Android 4.4.4).
Our wifi download speed from speedtest.net results directly about 40 Mbits/sec and I can't even believe it!
But when it comes to for example Facebook, Youtube, Google Play, it takes a long time for loading, especially the pictures. Worse on youtube videos, in most of the cases, it can't even load anything, it stops and only after several refresh I can see something, and again very slow.
On mine computer, it is all fine though. Also on our mobile data everything is working perfect and fast.
On my galaxy, I have tried different Android versions, but nothing changed, wifi still slow. Whatever we do on our mobile, change the ROM, factory reset, nothing helps. And the strangest thing is, that when my friend tried our wifi on his Nokia mobile, it worked also fast and without an issue.
It may sound strange, but our problem has exactly started when there was an upgrade of the ISP in our city. After experiencing like that, I have called them and they recommended me a new router. The new router didn't change anything.
My ISP suggested me to try another channels on the router.. I have tried them all. Sill the same problem, and they can not help me any further so far.
If it is an andoid issue, what else can I try?
If it is a router issue, what can I try on its settings? I believe there is an interface/connection problem between samsung and my router or new ISP settings, maybe some change in the settings could fix it?
I would appreciate any help from you guys.
Thank you in advance!
// EDIT, SOLUTION
in case it happens same to you,
this is the solution in such a case, but need to be rooted: just disable the ipv6
I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.lennartschoch.disableipv6 for that
no such troubled lags anymore! it costed me lots of nervs and went to my bananas!
here you go and enjoy!
Please somebody any idea?
// edit: solved!
Just want to share with you my solution: after disabling IPv6, facebook, youtube and google play work fast now! (in case u have a bad ISP (?) like mine!)
for disabling it i luckily found https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.lennartschoch.disableipv6

LG G3 wifi problems and more

I've had my G3 for 18 months now and over the past 4 weeks I've had problems with the wifi dropping and reconnecting again. I tried the tips from people I found on other websites but nothing cured the problem. Usually I would forget the wifi and then reconnect to it. That would usually work for a few hours, but then it would drop again.
Around the same time my SD card would unmount too. I originally put that down to it being old, so I bought a new one, but again, same problem. I've not been using one since.
3 days ago the battery drained itself within a couple of hours and the phone failed to connect to any wifi at all.
In fact it kept resetting itself and I had to take the battery out so it could turn on again.
I purchased a new battery and the life has improved a bit but the wifi problems persist.
I did a factory reset hoping that would cure the problem, but nope, still not connecting to any wifi.
I was a sent here to seek advice from a Techie Forum, so hopefully you can help me out!
I've had a quick look and I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the root and flash talk....
Does this problem all come down to Lollipop being a pain in the ass?
Is rooting the only way to get around it?
Thanks in advance!!
Well, you've either loaded some software that has caused the issue or you have a hardware problem somewhere. If it's been working for 18 months, it doesn't just "go wrong" - something has to change.
So, have you loaded anything recently which you also reloaded after the full factory reset?
Alan
When you have no internet, would you mind going to about phone > hardware info and check what ip adress you have? Most likely 02:00.. That's my exact problem.
Never loaded any software on to the phone except official updates or apps from the store. As i said, first it was intermittent and now it wont connect at all. Bluetooth connection has the same problem.
On the "about phone settings" it just says Wi-Fi mac address unavailable, ?
Android 5.0?
Did you install any custom roms? I'm trying to find a way to solve this but I'm failing to do so.. You can send your phone to warranty, if you still have it and they'll give you a new one :/
yes android 5.0, I've had my phone since July 14 so out of warranty now I would think. No, I've never used any custom roms. There seems to be a lot of other people with similar issues, and they have gone down the root route and delete a file from data misc wifi wpa_supplicant.conf. ?
Might have to try that, but I've never done it before.
Don't think that would solve your problem since I've already tried that and failed :/ It sucks really bad, rooting definetely helps since this is a root issue..
Think I'll just take it to a repair shop. I's a shame because I really love the the phone. It's got to be resolved though because I can't keep going without WiFi. Still got 5 months before I can upgrade too.
I don't think sending it to repair shop is a good idea.. At least 100,150€ to fix it.. If you sell the phone for 150-200€, you can get close to the money for the G5 which will come out in about a month.. Try to use data, dunno...
After updating to stock MM on my LG G3 D855, I had problem with wifi but only at home. It turned out to be a problem with IPv6 DNS servers on my home router (VDSL). I tried 2 solutions and both worked - first I tried app that makes VPN connection with correct DNS servers: DNSet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dnset) and it worked. Then I tried to find (and succeeded) IPv6 DNS setting on my router and there I entered Google IPv6 DNS servers. After that, I uninstalled DNSet and everything worked.
