[Q] How to flash back stock ROM and where to find it ? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i have a brand new GT-I9195 and before to root it or flash CM i have document myself but not enough i presume ...
I've rooted it following instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43622999 -> thanks arco68 for this BTW
Then i performed a NAND backup with CWM and finally flashed CM, downloaded from CyanogenMod website !
After that i decided to restore my CMW NAND backup, wiping cache, dalvik cache, data & data/media before doing so -> i restored only boot and system partitions -> OK but that's not want i want ...
I would like to get rid of CMW by flashing back Samsung stock ROM for the moment, here are the details about my firmware :
AP : I9195XXUAMF7
CP : I9195XXUAMF7
CSC : I9195BOGAMF5
I thought that i would be able to download it via Kies but my restored NAND backup still features root access and it seems that it broke any maintenance procedure via Kies ... so i went to SAMMOBILE website with the idea to download a suitable firmware for my device and then flash it back via odin or heimdall ... but it is not available this website
Now here are my questions :
-> Can i get Kies support again by unrooting my device ? If yes ... how to use Kies to download the FW and to flash it ? and how to unroot my device ?
-> If not where can i find a suitable firmware and how to flash it back ... odin ? heimdall ? something else ... ? (i've posted a message on SAMMOBILE website in case they can provide this FW to the community)
Thank you for your answers,
Kind regards

You have to flash the STOCK Rom with ODIN.
Get the right STOCK Rom for your region from here

OK, i've flashed back the official Samsung ROM through Kies (and backed it up in case someone else needs it); since a suitable ROM was not available for download over the Internet, i played with Kies ... and won ! Below are the steps i performed to do this ... with some luck ...
-> step 1 : reset to factory from the android menu ... at this point, i've just restored ny NAND backup and the phone warns me all the time about the root status which is still enabled ... (Kies refuse to update the firmware of my device and that's the only way i have right now ...)
-> step 2 : back to android , still with root status warnings ... the recovery is still CMW !
-> step 3 : Kies updated => i connect my cellphone to my PC and from the Kies welcome window, i see that Kies lets me update the firmware if i want to ... let's do so (the reset to factory seems to be usefull here ... i have a little doubt about this because just before i tried again to flash my cellphone through Kies, Kies updated itself ! I'm just writing down the steps i followed)
-> step 4 : firmware updated through Kies and backed up, just in case ...
-> step 5 : reset to factory from the android menu again in order to check if CWM is still there => no more CWM ! Now my device is running stock Samsung ROM ... no more root privileges or CWM !
PS : The phone does not accept OTA updates anymore ...

I'm gonna start messing around with my i9195 (DBT) and was thinking about using this if I wanna come back to stock:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9195
Is this useless or it can be used p.e. if I need to send it to warranty?

I'm not an expert but from what i've read over the Internet, if you flash something through odin (recovery, custom ROM and so on ...), when you'll be back to stock ROM by flashing an official ROM through any available way (Kies, odin, heimdall, ...) you'll note that in every case, the OTA firmware update feature is not available anymore (if you check for updates, you'll have the following message : "Your phone has been modified, updates are not available anymore")
In case you have to RMA your phone, there is no doubt that the manufacturer will know you flashed your device and i don't really know the exact warranty policy of Samsung company about this ...
Someone please correct me if i'm wrong ...
With that said, is it really important to have the OTA feature ? From my point of view if it is possible to preserve or restore this feature after playing with flashing the device ... it's a good point but if someone could clarify this please, it would be great !
From what i've read over here and there ... :
-> Kies : official but may brick your phone during FW update process and if so, device is hard to revive ... (i used it because my phone's ROM was not available for direct download in order to flash it trough odin ...)
-> odin : easy and reliable
Regards
PS : thank you for the weblink tintol, i noticed that my FW is now available for direct download ... good to know

Guess you're right, everybody seems to say that it's impossible to go back to full stock.
I've been away from Samsung since gingerbread on S2, but back then we could easily revert to stock and get OTA updates.
I don't mind losing OTA, it's just for RMA purposes. I think I'll wait a few days before messing with it, just to see if there's nothing faulty.
From my experience, HTC knew I messed with my One X and they repaired the screen within the warranty. Not sure if samsung is that kind.

[Q] Recovery all stock?

Hey guys, how are you?
Sorry my bad english! But I need your help ...
I recently installed the Rom LiquidSmooth 4.2.2 Android 4.2.2 to test itself, not LiquidSmooth, found it very nice and everything. But back to the factory settings with the stock ROM 4.0.4 and I upgrade by Kies and pff, my phone can not do updates by Kies. Samsung tried my country (Brazil) but they can not support (or paying for and also not aware of devices outside) for my I747 ... I did the emergency recovery firmware and now it's on 4.1.1 but it still remains unrecognized by Kies (NOTE: It is recognized rather as SGH-I747, however, can not do updates or anything, just back of the device; NOTE 2: I bought it at AT & T in the United States and I can not take you there to support). The mesangem is: "Your device does not support firmware upgrade via kies".
After getting well pissed off with this bull****, or my **** (haha) decided to find out what was wrong and found that some of the things LiquidSmooth is still in the system, such as ringtones, facebook layout and stuff ... (Print the end of the topic) .
So I come here asking for help to you, to completely reset it and go back to having all functions and patterns of manufactures, so that in future I can sell it or give it to my mom and she does not get lost as I am today ...
Is there any way I can do this completely and return it to factory defaults?
attempts:
- I went back to stock rom several times and still the same thing;
- I tried the firmware recovery Kies and nothing;
- I tried several tutorials on the internet and nothing.
Can anyone help me?
I literally am going crazy because of it ...
Diego.

How did you go back to stock? You'll get errors from kies and ota updates by remaining rooted.
By the sounds of it it just needs a proper wipe the unroot.
This video will get you back to 100% stock unrooted.

Also check out this link. The second post has a paragraph on unrooting to go with the video. It also contains the proper links for all the files you'll need to do it.

best unroot video ever.
OP, to accompany the video guide, you'll need:
- Triangle Away installed
- The official stock firmware for your device
- Odin installed on your PC
- Your Samsung USB cable, if possible
- Samsung drivers installed on PC

So when I went back to stock:
1. I just flashed a rooted stock firmware in odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
(just so I was back on a 4.1.1 stock rom. I didn't want to odin from a custom rom)
2. Then used triangle away
3. Then flashed the stock unrooted 4.0.4 from here in odin
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
(This gets rid of custom recovery)
4. Booted in stock recovery and then did a factory reset because you sometimes get a simple bootloop
5. Rebooted and I was back to stock.
I've noticed sometimes you have to switch the order around some to get it unrooted and the flash counter reset. Triablge away is for right before you unroot. You have to flash a stock .tar rom in odin to get rid of the custom recovery as well. It replaces the system, kernel, and the recovery.

Thank you bro, but my problem is Kies. I can't upgrade for him.
He did not let me update or related ...
I've done everything, often ...
- Unroot flash rom;
- Factory reset in recovery and in phone;
- All things.
I do not know what else to do.
I can do the emergency recovery firmware but it keeps saying that my device does not support updates via kies.

Are you sure you did the steps in the right order ? Kies won't do that unless you are still rooted or have a custom recovery. I
Kies has no use here to be honest but I know some people like to use it to upgrade from time to time or transfer data.
What exactly is the emergency recovery firmware ? (Your name for it might be different than mine)

Unable to Update on Stock Rom.

Hi
I am unable to update my device software neither on wireless mode ( pls refer to the attachments) nor using Samsung Kies Software. Here are my phone specifications:
Samsung Galaxy Note II - GT N 7100
Android Version : 4.1.2
Kernal version: 3.0.31-11071214 [email protected] SEP-117 # 1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Mar 27 10:33:53 KST 2013
Rooted....
Applications installed includes: Super SU Pro , Triangle Away
I have only rooted my phone but never installed any Custom Rom. So even though I am on Stock/ Official Rom I am unable to update my phone software and is also facing kind of performance issues also.
While updating trough Samsung Kies either It takes forever to update the phone or either it shows me a message that my phone has been disconnected from my system or my laptop goes into hibernate mode automatically. As far updating the phone over the air is concerned , I think screenshots attached are self explanatory.
I shall be very thankful and grateful for the assistance provided.
Ur system is modified hence no ota update..u will only get ota if ur system status is normal
To receive ota,
Reset flash counter
Unroot
Wipe sys scope data (not needed but in case.....)
Delete any cwm backup folder
Following all steps mentioned above will change ur system status to normal and you'll receive ota

From what has been said by my friends above, What I understand is that in order to obtain firmware upgrades one shouldn't root his/her phone and in the same context it would be proper to say that I have to unroot my phone in order to obtain updates. I might unroot but that would mean that some of my applications like Titanium Backup Pro and others would cease to work. Isn't there any other way around to have updates for my phone without getting into the trouble of unrooting it. One thing I did like to know here is if I am on Stock Rom and have only rooted my phone then also it means that I have modified my phone making it skip the updates?
I have tried wiping sys scope and enterprise sys data several times earlier so that my phone status returns to normal but to no avail. Even having enabled settings in Triangle Away doesn't help now even though it used to help untill a couple of weeks back.
Please advise. Thanks

Phone rom update via OTA is not compulsory. You can flash rom via PC odin and Mobile odin also. This will not wipe yor data.
If you flash latest ROM from PC odin, then you have to root phone once again.
But if you use Mobile Odin app, then no need to root phone. Root will be intact.
Latest firmware can be found in below thread.

Or you could wait for the 4.3 official update which will be on september or october then flash it.

So I have two options now... 1) push rom through mobile Odon which I have purchased or 2) wait for 4.3 update.
In My opinion there isn't harm in trying to install rom through mobile Odin for now and then surely I can upgrade again upon the release of 4.3

On image 3 on OP shows your flash counter is 1, in such case you will never get official OTA update untill you reset it. Also you are running out of warranty untill you reset it - Custom binary download to 'No' (from yes 1 counts)
To reset it you need to have rooted device, also make sure your recovery and kernel are stock. then use triangle away to reset counter.
OR
Simply download full ROM and flash using Odin/Mob Odin and forget kies,OTA and Warranty

I have only rooted my phone through PC Odin following the instructions as advised by you in your other thread and never installed any custom ROM , kernel. I have also posted the serial number of kernel in my first post. Although I do have cwm installed but never made use of it. In short I have rooted my phone but never changed any stock module.
I also tried to reset the flash counter using Triangle Away but for around 15 minutes it continued to show me a message on the screen that its rebooting my phone but it didn't. Now I really don't know how to proceed. Please advise and yeah I don't want to risk my phone's warranty.
Thanks
You have installed CWM means you need to flash stock recovery before using triangle away. Go to My All in One thread post #6, download stock recovery and flash it using Odin.
After that try reseting counter with Triangle away. Also make sure after installing triangle away it will ask to download kernel flasher and you must allow it to do that, otherwise triangle away won't work. If you have any doubt uninstall Triangle away and reinstall.
Dr Ketan thanks for your reply. So this is how I need to proceed further....
1) download stock recovery first from your thread.
2) install it using PC Odin
3) uninstall and then reinstall triangle away
4) reset flash counter using triangle away.
Please correct me if I have gone wrong above.

Alright I think I was finally able to install the stock recovery through Mobile Odin Pro. Screenshots enclosed. Now I am proceeding with the steps to reset flash counter using the triangle away.
Edit: I could see the success message on the screen when tried resetting the flash counter using Triangle Away.
Edit 2: System status in settings - about device- status now shows as normal and system status is now official on special boot up screen.
Kindly advise what should be my next approach now.
Thanks
After resetting flash counter , my device status reflected as Normal and I was able to download the upgrade package for the phone OTA. But the catch here is that after up-gradation my phone screen showed me a message which read as " Unable to upgrade the firmware - Please use kies or contact Samsung service center" . I clicked on OK button and then went to check whether I still have updates available OTA but now they aren't. Just wanted to understand is this kind of phone's behavior is normal or something is wrong here?
Please advise. Thanks
It's normal.
If you have backup of important data then try factory reset and try updating after that.
Truly speaking if you want rooted device you should always be prepare to flash full rom with Odin and just forget ota /kies.

I have titanium backup pro installed on my phone and set the batch job to take backup regularly. So should I proceed with the factory reset option?
Also don't know why but for some strange reason in about device the status changes to modified from normal and then back to normal on its own.

[Guide] [Regain 100% Warranty From CWM] Grand i9082 (Without Odin)

Hi All,
I just wanted to come back to complete 100% warranty from my current rom using CWM flashable zip file. Even after reading so many forums, I couldn't find an all-in-one thread which contains a guide to regain 100% warranty including reset the custom ROM flash counter to 0 and stock recovery. I hope you find this handy.
We have so many threads to reset the custom ROM flash counter to 0, but it is also very much necessary to have the Stock Samsung Recovery to claim your warranty. Although you still can enjoy the full root access but if you want to unroot then you can simply use Superuser app settings menu.
Because we need to claim warranty when there is some major issue in the handset or our system has got corrupted and we cant reboot anymore. Then we can go to CWM and flash any rom but to go to service center we need to remove CWM.

Hey what about device status? after doing this method it will be custom or official? nd can we get update from software update?
another very important item for warranty is your original CSC. Example if you flash Russian 4.2.2 firmware your CSC becomes SER. You have to be sure that this is also changed when you go back to stock firmware OF YOUR REGION example India will be INU. Connect your grand to kies and check for the correct CSC before going to service to claim warranty,
I would also like to add that before flashing anything on your device to check and note your original CSC. Believe me this is most of the time checked by the service staff....

Hi bro,
there are options for both in Triangle away... for Odin mode status and for settings menu... if you have any issue or you are not getting the official status then PM me ....
I read and reread your instructions but there is nothing saying how to get back to stock unrooted rom without using odin as mentioned on the title. Please clarify.
Easy way....
----------------------------------------------------
1.Reset bin counter with triangle away
2.swichoff ur device
3.boot into Odin mode
4.flash stock rom of ur region with Odin
5.boot into stock recovery
6.wipe data/factory reset...wipe cache...wipe dalvik cache...
7.reboot...
......If u want to change CSC....

Right. That procedure is same as youtube cursed4eva method.
I believe there is no way to get back to stock without using odin more so if on 4.2.2
can I root the phone & then flash this stock recovery again to receive system updates & still keep root privileges?
Works with I9082L version ? Thanks !
Nice One :fingers-crossed:
does this method works with 4.2.2?
I believe even Xposed works...
bro.when i install stock recovery it shows installation aborted.what to do now

[Q] need help urgently please :'(

i don't know how i did that stupid thing ! i'm using note 2 gt-n7100 ( rooted ) i tried to install a new rom that doesn't built for my phone with " mobile odin v 4.2 pro unfortunately it flashed the sumsung star dous stock rom on my mobile but it doesn't boot .. i entered the philz touch recovery menu and select clean to install a new rom and restore my old rom and the problems started to appear !
the first thing is when i press the power button to lock my note 2 and try to open it again i find no response at all and the only way is to remove the battery and re turn it on again and try not to press the lock button as if i do so my mobile gives me no response and the screen doesn't turn on !
the second matter i noticed that when the start up i found the bluetooth icon trying to turn to green like i'm turning the bluetooth on but a few seconds it didn't turn on even i try to turn it ! the bluetooth doesn't work at all !
the third thing when i recieve a call that turn on the proximty sensor automatically if i touch the sensor the screen go black but i lose the control and give me no response at all and i have to remove the battery and turn it on again !
the things i noticed when i flashed the galaxy star rom with mobile odin that it has partion called param and the note to doesn't have it with its rom but have partion called modem which i didn't found in the galaxy star rom !
i need help please how i delete things that caused that conflict .. i tried to reflash the stock rom of my note with odin on my lap top but nothig changed and it hanging and the screen freezes with no control at all and that happened when i try to use a custom rom and flash it through the recovery .. please help urgently
sorry for my bad english
Two options I see:
1. Try to restore your device using Kies3
2. Flash newest firmware (get it from sammobile) for your region using PC-Odin.
Putting "need help urgently please :'(" does not help you in any way, in fact it makes it more likely that people will simply ignore the topic. Topic titles need to be descriptive, not generic non-descriptive.
Your problem is that like many newbies you cant be bothered to do research, read and learn before messing around with your device.
You should boot into download mode and flash a stock rom. Preferably a older one that doesn't have knox. Then flash a stock rom(without knox) in recovery mode. All the info you need is here on forum.

i forgot to tell that one of the things changed that my mobile lost the usb support in the normal mode as there is no change when i connect it to my pc except it charges only but it works in the download mode and when i reflash the stock rom v 4.3 the screen freezes after a few seconds of turning it on and i have to remove the battery .. do you think that flashing the 4.4.2 sthock rom will make a change ? as the solution of kies isn't possible due to the lack of usb support !
is there a way to format the sectors that the pation " param " which flashed by the sumsung star dous stock rom is in it and make that conflict to delete that ??
What was your last stock rom on your device before messing up?
I do absolutely not agree with those horror tales about knox, most people don't use and easily get rid of.
Do you remember your last bootloader? MK4 or above? Then don't take any risk by flashing 4.3 firmware and go straight ahead to 4.4.2.
It will be the safest way to get a working device again.

i'm sorry for the way i show my problem as i'm a newbie already .. it that possible to downgrade my rom ? i will try install 4.1.2 rom then flasing the 4.4.2 one but when i flashed the 4.3 stock rom the screen freezes and nothing changed what do you think of that ? it there's a way to delete the " param " found in the sumsung galaxy star dous rom ? i think that made this conflict but try to explain to me why flashing an old rom then a new one without knox ? what will that do ?

So you can also try the NA1 firmware, but nothing beneath that. NA1 is a knox enabled BL, so whatever you flash successfully will have Knox in it.
DON'T TICK REPARTITION!

OK, I see. Try a wipe from stock recovery, wipe all possible.
Another option: Kies!
I know, you said not recognized but you must get it to work. Uninstall all drivers from PC an re-install drivers until Kies can restore your device.
Very last option: Find a Samsung repair near to you.

As you mentioned you already have been on NA1 firmware and as it seems you have flashed latest 4.4.2 with "a kind of success" I find it hope- and useless to even try this rescue rom. Bootloader is the reason why you can't successfully flash. NO DOWNGRADE POSSIBLE.

Can you illustrate your words ? For kies it's unpossible to connect my mobile to any pc the drivers works perfectly for any similarphone the fault is in my mobile not the driver and for sumsung care it will be high cost as the warranty ended ! And I wipe every thing possible through the stock recovery but noyhing changed !
I am beginning to lose my patience cause you don't follow my advice or even don't consider that I am right.
Look into system on your PC if there is an unknown device.
Whenever hardware is connected to PC Windows starts to search for drivers.
It doesn't matter that other devices are recognized correctly.
Wipe all Samsung drivers and re-install. Even re-install Kies too.
Start Kies and try restoration, maybe it will fail, but try. AND with current drivers you are supposed to fail.
At last: Try to find a friend with knowledge who can help you at your home or his.

Pie root, twrp fail, odin fail and Emergency Recovery Function

Hi, community
I tried to root my SM G-9600 but it all went wrong. First i went on twrp, it worked, but wiped my entire data. Then i tried make a factory reset o installation with odin and the latest firmware for my device, but it failed and showed this message labeled in red color: "sw rev check fail device 4 binary 3 error". then i found in this and other forums that it was because i used not the latest firmware. I downloaded the latest one, tried once to flash it via ODIN, and it failed again. Then when it restarted this message was shown : " An error has occurred while updating the devide software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software. I donwloaded the smart switch, installed it, plugged my devide, but it shown that my device was "Unsupported". IDK what to do by now, so i need help from anyone on this forum. PLS
Greeting from Peru.
i had the same problem
(before processing to the next step try to redownload the firmware, i think i was using an old firmware and this is why i got this error)
i am assuming that you can not boot on twrp recovery
that's not a problem , you need to install twrp via odin and boot directly to it....
format the data and connect to your laptop (if it does recognize the phone but there is no storage dont worry, just reboot again to recovery (there is an option on reboot tab))
since you already tripped the knox just flash a custom rom, boot and set it up, and then try to flash stock image via odin as normal.
and sorry for my bad english.
Cant install a custom rom
Thanks. I made posible the TWRP installation, root, but i cannot install any custom rom i have. Can you suggest any one that will be suitable for my device (SM G-9600) ?, thats Samsung Galaxy S9 g9600 (Snapdragon SoC)

do you want to install a custom rom or revert back to stock?
For custom ROM I suggest Soldiers ROM here's the link to the thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...g96xf-fd-n-stock-rom-soldier9312-1-0-t3771346 . You can more information about it on the thread. Been using the moment I rooted my phone.
