Great! What Android versions can be ran on this phone?
JellyBean - 4.2.2 - TouchWiz ROMs are 4.2.2 and there's a few CM10.1 ROMs out there still.
JellyBean - 4.3- CM10.2 ROMs are rolling out but remember, you may encounter bugs as it is still a WIP (Pretty stable, though.)

Cool, but I'm a noob, what should I start off with?
My suggestion to you is for you to run some TouchWiz ROMs to get you comfortable with the flashing, nandroiding, tweaking processes and then move on to something else. Above all read and search.

Okay, I see.. but I don't quite understand what flashing, nandroiding, tweaking, etc. mean?
* - anything and everything possible. A good example would be "All my friends live at 10* Croxley Street." This is saying that they are all live at 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108 and 109.
Dev - See developer.
Developer - A man or woman who has created (developed) software.
ROM - 1. A modified version of the Android operating system operating system. 2. Read Only Memory, a place where information is stored and can not be destroyed, modified or written to.
AOSP - "Android open source project" a project by Google Inc. to give android to developers and manufactures for free (see open-source)
Open-source - (not to be confussed with free) A peice of software that is free to edit, use, distribute and share with no charge.
CM - See cyanogenmod
Cyanogenmod - A free open-source project based on the AOSP. It is a modded (see modded) version of the Android firmware
Firmware - see ROM (1)
Stock - An unchanged version of something. Example: I just flashed stock sense
OTA - "Over the air" a term used to indicate software that was sent to phones directly through the internet to their phones.
FOTA - "Firmware over the air" this normally refers to ROM's but can refer to radio firmware (see OTA)
Firmware - a piece of software to make hardware function correctly. This can refer to Radio Firmware, but is normally used as another name for ROM (1)
Radio - (not to be confused with Radio Firmware) A piece of hardware that allows communication. There are 3 main radios in your phone. Bluetooth, WiFi and GSM/CDMA.
Radio Firmware - (see firmware) a type of software that allows correct communication with the radio and the operating system. A newer firmware would normally improve battery life and call quality. The radio firmware only applies to the CDMA/GSM radio.
CDMA/GSM - A type of network communication between phones and carriers. GSM phones normally are included with SIM Cards that authorize them onto the network. CDMA have this authorization built in and do not need a sim card.
Kernel - An important part of all operating systems that handles the CPU and other vital components. A modded kernel may be used for overclocking.
Overclock - (not to be confused with underclock) to exced the default maximum CPU speed. This could make a phone more powerful but may cause damage. Although no damaged has been reported so far it could still drain battery life.
Underclock - to change your phones maximum frequency to LOWER than the default to attempt to extend the phones lifespan and battery.
Mod - A modification to a part of the phones software. It is also POSSIBLE to mod the phones hardware but is not recommended.
Modding - To perform a mod
Modded - to have included mods
Modification - see mod
Governor - a system embedded into the kernel to automatically change the current working CPU frequency depending on the workload. It would only go up to what it is overclocked (or underclocked) to, this is called the maximum frequency. It would not drop bellow the (just as eaisly configurable) minimum frequency.
Library's/Libs - a set of instructions for applications to use to function. A functioning camera lib would allow the camera to be used.
WFS - "Wildfire S" an armv6 device made by HTC in 2011.
Logcat - A logging system built into the ADB
ADB - "Android Debug Bridge" a system that can be accessed using a computer where you can manage the device from. You need the Android SDK to use it.
SDK - "Software Development Kit" a set of tools used for software development.
WIP - "Work In Progress"
JDK - "Java Development Kit" an SDK for the java platform. It is needed to run the Android SDK.
JRE - "Java Runtime Environment" a collection of binarys and files to allow java software to execute.
Execute - To "run" or "start" a binary
Binarys - (sometimes called bin's) a group of executable files.
RAM - Could be one of three meanings: 1. Memory for the CPU to process processes. 2. Random Access Memory, a place where information can be used, executed from, modified, or deleted. 3. A type of sheep.
SD - Short term for MicroSD
Marvel - A gsm version of the phone
Marvelc - The cdma version of the phone

Okay, I think I'm ready to begin! Where do I start?
You have a few ways to go here..
But before we continue, let me explain something to you. Our phones have this 'flash counter' built in.
There is a way to reset it after you've triggered it, so don't be alarmed.
Flash counter? What's that?
The flash counter is a binary counter built in Samsung phones that is used by Samsung to basically help identify if you have been tampering with your firmware and flashing unofficial software.
Each time you flash unofficial firmware via Odin, your binary flash counter goes up by 1.

Ah, okay.. is there anyway to bypass that?
Yes and no.
How to get root easier and faster, triggering the counter:
Chainfire has developed an way to flash a custom recovery and root your phone.

NOTE: You CAN reset your flash counter to 0 using an application developed by Chainfire called Triangle Away which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
What can I do now that I have root?
You can backup your apps using Titanium Backup found in the Google Play store.
Use apps that require root.
Etc.

What can I do now that I have a custom recovery?
Make a NANDROID backup of your current setup and restore that backup!
Flash ROMs, modems, kernels, themes, etc.
Wipe data, clear cache, etc.

whats the truth?
I was looking around at various sources when I updated to MK2_4.3 from 4.2.2 and I read that once you've Flashed MK2, updated 4.3 that there is no way to go back down to 4.2 . . . is this true? Also is it possible and/or stable to flash 4.2.2 Roms from MK2?

That is only true if you have done one of these three thing:
#1: Allowed OTA update to 4.3
#2: Updated to 4.3 using Kies
#3: Odin flashed the official stock 4.3 firmware from http://SamMobile (or elsewhere)
If you have not done any of those three things you can go back and forth between 4.2.2 and 4.3.
Good Luck!

How would I know if I were able to flash 4.2.2 Rom or not? Just give it a try and if it works then im good and if not it will say error or what (I am just asking so I don't try something and screw things up)
Also kinda off topic but Ive been trying to Flash a jfltexx Rom which is the GT-9505 int variant, I tend to use alot of their Roms and never have problems but latley when flashing aosp based roms like omni it says that i could only use jfltetmo builds, I was thinking that I could flash a TW based build like Foxhound or something then factory reset and flash from there and maybe it would register as a jfltexx but so far no luck. Thanks again

Personally I stay away from roms like that, I just stick to the
M919 Samsung Jellybean Touchwiz based custom roms.
Don't get me wrong I tried basically all of those AOSP/AOKP/CM/GE/KitCat and the Ported roms
but found that they all have one thing in common, they are basically stripped bare from all the niceties
and the bells and whistles which make the M919 Tmobile Jellybean Touchwiz based roms so excellent.
Since I am really not too much into those other roms, I would hate to guess at giving you or anyone
else any suggestions as to how to fix any issues you are having with those other roms.
As far as trying to go back to the M919 4.2.2 Jellybean Touchwiz based custom roms go it's easy,
just make a nandroid backup of your existing rom and see for yourself, if you don't get any errors
or other unusual issues trying to flash those roms then then you are Ok and need not worry about
the KNOX pox.
Remember there are only three ways to get KNOX on your phone as you saw in my previous post.
Good luck!

Turn off Amber Alert
I am running Wicked V9.1 on both my and my wife's phone. She, but not I, keeps getting Amber Alerts - 8 today alone. Is there any way to stop receiving them?

It might be coming from Cell Broadcast.. I'm not sure if Wicked has it or not but I remember getting amber alerts from the cell broadcast that was on the cm rom and there was settings on there to turn it on & off or if you wanted it keep it on you were able to control the types of emergency's to get alerts from like weather emergency's like hurricanes etc or amber alerts

Yeah I know what you mean... I agree with you about touchwiz ROMs compared with aosp/aokp/cm/pa/...
I was just asking because I've had this problem before and some how it went away and I never thought of it again until this last week went trying to flash Omni Rom...
What is your favorite Rom or some of your favorites... Like do you use several different roms or do you stay with a particular rom update to update?? Just wondering

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know. wink.gif
This ROM is the 'starting point' for my Galaxy S custom ROMs.
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs - either shipping or leaked. A MCR release is designed to feel as far as possible like a stock ROM, with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, YOU MUST ALREADY BE RUNNING THE JFB ROM FROM HERE. Do NOT use this ROM with any other base, unpredictable things will happen, the most likely being you'll have to reflash your device via Odin.
Features Included
* Based on the JFB release
* Rooted with Superuser 2.1 by ChainsDD
* Built with the MCR build process which reduces the size and boosts the speed of the ROM
* busybox with Droid Explorer support
* Updated Google Maps
* MCR version displayed in 'About' screen
* Optional Google Voice Search
* Optional Google Voice Dialer
* Optional Fancy Widget
* Optional Beebplayer
* Optional baked in Wavesecure via the online kitchen (installed to system partition for maximum security)
Changelog
Please see 2 posts below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
* Ensure you have the JFB ROM installed (linked above)
* Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card named 'update.zip'
* Restart your device in recovery mode by running 'adb reboot recovery' (download adb if you do not have it already, use adb-windows, adb-mac or adb-linux as appropriate)
* Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is currently only available in the online kitchen - prebakes to follow.
Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
And finally...
If you would like to show your appreciation for the ROM, please consider supporting MoDaCo by signing up for a MoDaCo Ad Free or MoDaCo Plus account, both of which also give you early access to Beta ROM releases and access to the the online kitchens.
Enjoy!

Does this ROM fix the ram issue so that all 512MB of ram is utilized?
Congrats on being the first custom rom here.
Congratulations! I don't have a phone yet but I am very pleased to see a custom rom already!
woohoo custom ROMs already. Guess I'll be getting myself the phone after all.
umm.. but in another thread people where saying that it wasn't gonna be possible because samsung encrypt their drivers etc. so this mean they did release they drivers? and there is gonna be alot of custom rooms for galaxy gravity?

No I said it would be near impossible to get roms from other sources like Sense roms or Froyo on because of the driver issue. I never said you would never see custom roms. The only roms you are going to see are one's based off of Samsungs release.
Hold on, hold on. So even though Samsung released the Galaxy S' driver source code to the public, it's going to be "near impossible" to port Sense and FroYo to the phone? I may be ignorant but I'll just ask with ignorance, how do you figure?

Download the source code..... ok now open it and go to GalaxyS_Kernel.tar.gz. Now in there just enter the first folder then go to modules. Go to Dpram. Open up any of those files in notepad. You should see written non-compiled code right? That is fine now go back to the module folders and go to S3cbc. Now open up s3cbc_module.o. Does that look like non-compiled code? No it doesn't. It's either already compiled or encrypted. That's what I mean

Quick question, does that mean any custom rom that is release will be based off the official rom they release which has Touchwiz backed in? If so, does that rule out a plain vanilla android rom for this device? Thanks for your help and appreciate the knowledge.

No it doesn't rule out plain vanilla android rom. Yes they will all be based on Samsung but rom makers can take out all the touchwiz garbage and throw in another launcher like adw or Launcherpro.
That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks for the help. Now if I only could decide if I should keep the Nexus One or purchase this phone..... Decisions, Decisions.

dont go too deep into specific things that we may not even need (we are not coders here) but the source code for basic hardware that we need to get things going are already there.. things like camera, wlan, etc. btw, do u know what s3cbc is for?

What about s3clcd? Here is a little copy and paste of some of the garble that was in the compiled file
screen width=%d height=%d va=0x%x pa=0x%x
I would go out on a limb and say those are video drivers. The one's that have been encrypted on all other samsung phones.
Also in s3cbc there is some code at the bottom
PVRSRV_PIXEL_FORMAT_YUY2 PVRSRV_ERROR_FIFO_SPACE char ui32ByteStride psDevInfo PVRSRV_PIXEL_FORMAT_PAL1 PVRSRV_PIXEL_FORMAT_PAL2 pfnOpenBCDevic
If you don't know the Galaxy's gpu is PowerVR SGX540 and YUY2 is a colol format for video screens
http://www.fourcc.org/yuv.php#YUY2 and Pal is of course a European video standard.
they are not encrypted, they are object codes in machine language for arm.. and why we need that again for custom roms?
Wanted to test modaco ROM but they are not free.. Any kind souls upload and share ?

How much free ram have you got? Considering flashing and rooting, but not sure if it's worth it right now. Meh 10£ isn't that much think I'm gonna give it a try.
EDIT: Just flashed, but now I don't have root access(says access denied when I try to access the /data/data folder). Thought this included the rooted PDA file or do I have to flash that again with odin?
EDIT2: Scratch that I forgot to press the allow-button on my phone after sending the Super-user request..

[ROM][2/10/11] NO SENSE: HTC Vision G2/Z MoDaCo Custom ROM with Online Kitchen (r2)

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom ROM for the HTC Vision (this is the version based on the T-Mobile G2 ROM, without HTC Sense)! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed (Clockwork Mod).
THIS ROM SHOULD RUN ON BOTH THE G2 AND THE DESIRE Z!
Features (these are the features for the currently posted prebake, please check the changelog for any pending changes that are in the kitchen)
Based on the 1.22.531.8 T-Mobile G2 ROM
Pre-rooted with su and Superuser Permissions by ChainsDD
Insecure boot image (ro.secure=0)
Optimised with the MCR build process, which means that the ROM will fit on a G2 without needing to remove any content!
All components updated to the latest versions
ROM is de-odexed
Please note that this is a r1 release, many more changes will be added now via the kitchen and periodically updated prebakes (as per normal MCR builds!)
Changelog
Please see 2 posts below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the online kitchen! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
Future Updates - READ THIS!
By providing this ROM I am not implying in any way that future updates will follow. Due to limits on my time and the fact that I have a large number of devices for short periods of time, it isn't possible for me to continue providing ROM updates indefinitely. Please do not donate / sign up on the assumption that future releases will be available (I don't want you to be disappointed!).
And finally...
Details on how to donate should you wish to do so are in download topic at MoDaCo.
Enjoy!

Same phone but different partitioning, I believe ? I'm sure someone who knows a lot more than me will be able to comment better though.
Stock G2 does fit on Z, but the other way round doesn't.
What he said - different partitioning!

I'm sorry, but I am just surprised no one has mentioned or requested screenshots.
Can we get at least one? I mean some of us may not know what a Non-Sense UI looks like.
Also, will this ROM help extend battery life? I am assuming it will with less eye-candy correct?
Thank you.

Modifications to CF-Root (aside from the icons)
- Due to a lot of bickering and argueing, I'm simply no longer allowing this at all
- You can still kang a script or two left and right, I don't mind, as long as you are not basing an entire kernel on mine, or re-branding it, etc. Use common sense, you know exactly what I mean.
...
DjMaryuslive :
Do you have some kind of agreement with Chainfire that allows you to release this modification to CF-Root kernel?
Is the startup and shutdown sound enable?

This is not work of Chainfire,With all due respect for Chainfire work, but no one can force me ask his opinion to bring a new version that he still does not work or works in progress.
READ FIRST POST
How wrong you are. You can't release kernels based on CF-Root without my permission on XDA. Furthermore, it isn't just based on my work, it is in fact the exact same file as posted in my own thread.
So, not only is this a straight repost of my own work without permission; that this it is a newer version and bugfixed is a straight-up lie.
I have no idea what the agenda is here, but there will be repercussions to this.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1- "Flash with CUSTOM RECOVERY (TWRP/CWM)" : If you still have the stock recovery, download and use Daver18qc's Root Kit Below to install a custom recovery from the CUSTOM RECOVERIES header in post #2.
2- "Flash with ODIN" : ODIN is inside Daver18qc's Root Kit *With Detailed Instructions* below.
3- "Push with ADB" : You need to download and install Android's Development Kit and then refer to the small tutorial below !
4- If you've got problems with ODIN or ADB, make sure that you have USB Debugging Enabled under Settings > Developer Options.
--Make sure you have only 1 device showing in ODIN (Only 1 little square filled at the top-left)
--Also make sure Kies.exe is not running on the computer!
5- There are custom ROMs, such as CyanogenMOD 10 and 11, OmniROM 4.4, and more. There is no Lollipop ROM just yet, though it is slowly being worked on. A lot of work is needed to update our device code for Lollipop. You can find links to different custom ROMs for our device in post #2.
6- There is NO free method to UNLOCK SIM yet.
7- If you want to flash any deodexed rom with a custom recovery, you must first flash the complete corresponding ROM from SamMobile. That means deodexed Guatemala need to be flashed over Guatemala, not over Panama or Canada. Same goes for deodexed Australia.
8- If you get a Yellow warning triangle on boot after flashing something, use TriangleAway to remove it and reset the flash counter to 0. (On the page, use the provided TriangleAway apk file available for download at the bottom of the first post)
9- Flashing a ROM from Guatemala or Australia will not change your service provider, you will stay with Bell/Koodo/Rogers even if these companies don't exist in Guatemala.
10- Sometimes when flashing ROMS, your carrier will show as "Bell" even though you are on Virgin / Solo, this is normal as these are 2 sub-companies of Bell.
11- When you flash ANYTHING with a custom recovery, be sure to Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache (advanced menu) before rebooting.
12- For ANY kind of flashing from a Windows computer, you will need the Samsung USB Drivers first and foremost, before doing anything else. If you're on Linux/Ubuntu, install Heimdall and search for tutorials for how to use it on XDA or Google.
13- If you have the Galaxy Trend GT-S7560 and CWM freezes while flashing a custom rom, then re-cook the rom inside the Kitchen with these tweaks:
Code:
For galaxy trend s7560
When building rom in kitchen, select Interactive Mode(1). after zipaling;
1. edit META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script in working folder and change " format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p16"); " to " format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p16", "0", "/system"); "
2. extract cm11 for ace 2x and replace META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary from cm11 to your rom

------CUSTOM ROMS-------
Note: None of the custom ROMs are bug-free. Some of them are more stable and bug-free than others though. Some common bugs among all the ROMs are lack of full camera resolution (the rear camera only captures images at 3MP instead of the 5MP in Stock ROM) and lack of bluetooth (our chipset doesn't support the newer bluetooth method used in Android 4.2+).

Modified stock firmware "Stock II X Plus" by Codename13. It is deodexed, rooted, has init.d functionality, has ADB support, doesn't overwrite your custom recovery with the stock one, and other misc. changes, plus it shouldn't trigger the triangle flash counter.
If you install a stock ROM/firmware over a custom ROM and you get a bootloop, meaning you probably forgot to wipe data, and you're unable to boot to recovery, flash this package (by Codename13) with Odin to wipe your data partition, which should allow you to boot into the stock ROM.

Most people seem to hit a wall around 1248mhz.

Unfortunately, the links on that site seem broken too... unless its me and i cant get them to work...
looking with the code "S7560MUBAMG2" i found a version PBS, CPA and TCP (panama, panama and mexico), all three have the same build date and change list numbers (05.07.2013 and 1230914)...
im downloading PBS version, its a 532mb file, is that right?... no wonder the device sucks that much... that image is bigger than the stock for my the TF300t... this **** is bloated
is this the same image as guatemala?
Can't seem to find the PGU anywhere... all links are to hotfile (which seems dead) or broken
thanks anyway...
i wanted to test the slimbean rom but guess i'll have to wait a while then...
the device is slow, but rather have a slow phone than a bricked one for not following the procedure right

I seem to have installed it — the Root Kit install finished successfully and there's one entry in Apps for "Superuser" that wasn't there before — but I can't actually do anything with it. How do you "Flash with CWM"?

You did it, since flashing with CWM puts the SUPERUSER program inside the phone. So if you have that, then you have indeed flashed with CWM, because it is the only way to flash the root package!
The instructions in the root kit apply to any other update/package that you want to flash with CWM.

AIUI, you don't need to use MG2. Try the third link (XSA) which will give you three options to download the MH3 firmware for Australia. That has three working download links.

@mertonv:
Use Australia MH3 instead. SAMMOBILE got their hosting server shut down so the links for stock firmware are invalid, but they are supposed to get fixed soon, i hope.
EDIT: The Australia Stock ROM link works at the moment, maybe you didn't LOG IN / REGISTER on SAMMOBILE before trying to download and that's why you don't see anything, but at this time, it works !
Bluetooth and Camera still broken/buggy?
Can anyone confirm that there isn't a custom ROM (10.2 or 11) where there are issues with Bluetooth and the camera? I know the FAQ says there are issues but that was in October.
Service
Since flashing CM 10.2, I haven't been able to get service and if somehow I manage I only get it temporarily. Can someone explain as to why?
Downloading Australia MH3
When I go to download file, it takes me to http://terafile.co/5d8b16638748 and the problem is the download link isn't working for me. I do the captcha and everything but when it does to download it just doesn't want to download.

Does anyone try Triangle Away? is it complete safe?

It's been tested and it's safe, aside from the extremely slim risk of bricking your device while using Triangle Away (but I've never heard of anybody doing this). Chainfire hosts a free version here on XDA, although being free, it doesn't include every feature. But it works well enough.
there is any application or rom that Turn the hardware buttons light up when I have Missed calls or message?

If you are indeed using an Ace 2, we can't help you. This thread is one of the few for the Galacy Ace II X, a completely different device, other than similiar sounding names.
Speaking of BLN, I remember having recently seen an app that mimicks it very well. I'll message you if I remember what it was called.
For the BA2X 2.0, I'm working on implementing BLN in the kernel along with some other things. Our devices don't have the same kernel, but I could possibly create a universal BLN diff for others. I'm trying to diff a BLN module source for the Galaxy R and Captivate, so hopefully I can get it working.

So is the Kitkat update still being worked on or not? You say its being worked on in the first post but later say he's stopped. Also, are the bugs listed in black from flashing to Jelly Bean?
And lastly, can I use the Ace 2 GT-I8160 method of getting Kitkat for my ace 2x?

You're using an Ace 2 GT-I8160? This thread is for Galaxy Ace II X GT-S7560M. The two devices are completely different. The only reason that us Ace II X users use the Ace 2 forums is because the names are somewhat similiar. However, don't let that similiarity ruse you.
any kitkat?
Any chance that kitkat makes its way to this phone?...
If it were too... which stock should i load to my phone to be compatible with that?
Which custom rom on jb is the least buggy right now?
Thanks!

[ROM] *UNOFFICIAL* ShinyROM [AOSP 4.4.2] KOT49H (No mods, completely stock!)

ORIGINAL CREDIT TO BALDWINGUY77 OVER ON ROOTZWIKI. CHECK OUT THE ORIGINALi: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36706-ro...a-like-stock-android-442-kot49h/#entry1031982
I'm only port to maguro.
Is a port from original rom no have base maguro only changes for use GSM networks
This ROM is Android Kitkat 4.4.2, build KOT49H. The ROM is built directly from source, that is, the Android source code published by Google available for download to all of us developers. The reason I say the ROM is "OTA-like" is because I make VERY few modifications to it, aside from the things that it takes to get the ROM working. I'll go into detail about those things below, but basically I just want the ROM to make your phone feel stable and shiny and new as if it has just received a new OTA update. That being said, it's clear that the landscape of Nexus devices is changing as new ones are released. Therefore, the other primary goal of this ROM is to keep our Galaxy Nexus as close to the modern Nexus design as possible. This means that I will also add in features that will still be stock, but will also make our phones as close to a current Nexus as possible.
As for how I handle the forum side of things, I'm always open to comments, questions, suggestions, requests, etc. I know that most of those things will often be in the form of criticism, but it's okay, I think I can handle it That being said, I do also have a life and am a college student, so I may not get to come on here ALL the time. I will check back as frequently as possible, and I'm hoping that you guys will help each other out as much as possible! Keep it friendly! So now for the details...
Features
Stock Android 4.4.2, build KOT49H
Source (AOSP) built kernel (boot.img)
(De)Odexed
Easily rootable (see information below)
G-Apps (GMail, Play Store, etc.) included in build along with Nexus apps
Stock browser replaced with Google Chrome
Shiny restart options - access them by holding down the power button and then long pressing on "Power Off"
All the crazy Google proprietary app stuff has been taken care off
Updated frequently
Everything works!
So what do I mean when I say "Everything works!"?
I'm sure by now you all know that when someone says that, it usually ends up not being true. This ROM is not an exception to that rule, but I can say that I've tested most of the things that would be expected to work in stock Android, such as...
WiFi Tethering (no subscription check)
Bluetooth streaming
Google account sign-in and auto-restore of apps and settings
Google Wallet
Location Services (pretty fast GPS lock in my area also)
Believe it or not, December is still a month!
Photosphere
Android beam
Photo editing with the new filters
Email
Exchange support
Like I said, the normal stuff (data, voice, hardware acceleration, etc.)
More things that aren't important enough to mention here - check out the changelog for a more comprehensive list
Installation Instructions (VERY IMPORTANT - Note: I use recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.3-maguro)

1. Download the latest version of the ROM from the download post. (Also download any other files you will need to install, such as Chainfire's Superuser Root ZIP, the radios installation ZIP, the bootloader installation ZIP, etc.)
2. Put the file(s) you downloaded in step 1 on your phone's internal storage (sdcard).
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Boot into the bootloader of the phone by holding down both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously until you feel a vibration and see a large arrow that says "Start".
5. Use the volume keys to change the arrow until it says "Recovery," then press the power button to boot into recovery.
6. Because of differences in recovery types, I will make the following steps rather generic.
7. Wipe cache.
8. Wipe dalvik cache.
9. If you want to be 100% sure there are no problems, wipe data. If you are coming from another ROM or Android version, wipe data. If you do not wipe data and something goes wrong, repeat this process but wipe data - this step is not necessary if you are simply upgrading.
10. Flash the ROM
OPTIONALS:
11. Root: If you are rooting, flash Chainfire's SuperSU ZIP file - this step is not necessary if you were rooted on the previous build and are simply upgrading.
12. Mod's: If you like any mod you can install zip now
13. Change kernel: U can change aosp stock kernel. Tiny Kernel, Fancy Kernel, Dirty V, Franco Kernel, Mpokang kernel.
14. Reboot your phone, and enjoy!

No GApps "Add-on" Zip
Some people don't like the way ShinyROM includes its own GApps. Flash this zip directly after the ROM and it will strip out most of the included GApps so that you may use the preferred GApps of your choosing. This will leave the core GApps (Store, Services, etc.) as well any others required for basic functionality (Keyboard, Camera, Launcher, Dialer, etc.) since there are none of the AOSP counterparts included.

It mentions SystemUI and framework-res mods over stock; what are they, like completing the white KitKat look? (I hope so!)
