fingerprints on screen - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

This may sound like a question but it isn't.
Am I dreaming or is the screen of the Note 8 so much more resistant to fingerprints and other things?
I am surprised daily at how good a screen it is and how clean.

It is! I only got a screen protector due to thinking the s-pen may damage it, but it is starting to tear apart, so might as well remove it.
Will try to get a tempered glass protector though

In India,..We got the note 8 with a screen protector out of the box...Can't say the same with the screen protector

Not 100% sure, but the screen is most probably covered with oleophobic coating, which would make it grease/sweat/fingerprint resistant. If so, the question is how long will it last - on my Note 1, it started to wear off after a year or so.

I noticed that plastic over the button and the edges. Has someone removed the "screen protector"?
Does someone NOT have this?

It is not resistant for me. I actually think is the reverse. Never seen so many fingerprints in a screen before
I got the N5110

Mine too. I have a Note 2 and a Note 8. The Note 2 stays pretty clean, while the Note 8 looks like sh*t.
But a quick wipe and it is clean again, so no problem.
And no, my N5100 did not come with a screen protector.

Replacing outer screen glass?

Since I got my new Note 2 LTE last week, I've got very thin scratches on my screen, which is only visible under direct sunlight - I ordered for a screen protector way before I ordered my phone but my phone came very early in the post. Since these scratches are peeing me off, is they any way I can get the glass replaced? One that's scratch free and genuine?
All help would be greatly appreciated!
PS - Is it possible these scratches occurred through the manufacturing process?
Thank you!
Regards,
Dave
The stylus could have done it?
Yeah, possibly! I mean the scratches are extremely thin. I knew I shouldn't have used that damn stylus 'till I got a screen protector! I think that particles that are able to scratch we're carried by the stylus and left a nasty scratch
After seeing the various scratch tests on youtube, with keys and knives and whatnot(with hardly any scratches),its hard to imagine that stylus couldve done that.
Sand,maybe.
Get it replaced for another reason, and buy a screen protector for that one?
Well, not sure. I think this Gorilla Glass we get on the Note 2 is bu**s***. I've got all these tiny scratches on my phone, after a week; my phone has always been on a table or in my pants pockets with nothing else in the same pocket, I don't get how the hell it got scratched, just noticed it today and was pissed at work lol.

Watch this . Makes you feel pity for that phone.
fml. it didn't even look like it scratched it! wtf?
Dirt/sand will easily scratch your screen
A screen protecter costs like $1
Why would you not use one

I dont know what you guys are doing. I use my pen, I walk on the beach daily and have the phone in my pocket. I take it out on the production floor at work and dont have any scratchs on my display. Even after 9 months of doing the same with my Note1, I dont have any scratches.
If you're really paranoid, you could research the cost it would cost to get your screen replaced, say $100.
Sell it for $50 cheaper than RRP. Then buy a new one. Profit I guess.

I don't think it's the stylus or your handling as I have been using my note 2 for a few weeks now without a screen protector and I didn't notice any scratches. I don't know the real cause for your scratches but i have to tell you that in the note 2 user guide, there is a statement saying to don't put any screen protector. But it's purely your choice if you want to use it.

Because there is NO need to use any. If sand or dust gonna scratch it then a tiny protector, however pricey it is, won't save it either.
And really, these scratches come as per our usage pattern. I never could able to scratch my Note 1, which I used for 9 months and my S2, which was used for 6+ months. And no, I don't use my device carefully.
But the service center, where I submitted the Note 2 last week, was able to scratch the screen. I told them I'd give them an award.
is the lens glass (outer glass) replacable on the note2 ??on the s3 its quite a hard job to do and i ruined mine while trying.
is it not a combined unit outer glass and touch screen?

thanks for your reply..
i cannot see either in this thread or others a definitive statement if the screen is the same glued to the digitizer type that the s3 has.
i can see the a outer screen can be purchased .. yes .
i am interested if it is the same or not as the s3 as when i heated my s3 up to fix the outer screen on that it buggered it up. and would breath a slight sigh of relief if the note2 outer screen was easier to replace,
forgive my inability to find the part you say i should of read

as I've read and watched on youtube before, I understood that most of the latest LCD/AMOLED/etc (screen) and digitizer(touch panel) of mobile units are glued tightly if not "built" together, hence "further" reducing or providing slimmer waistline for the actual unit,. i believe it can be taken apart but will be a "very" difficult task to do without leaving a mark or worst damaging the LCD/AMOLED screen,. just sharing my thought based on what I've learned on youtube and reviews which mostly is about tearing down new mobile devices,.

S pen sensitivity with screen protector = 0

I am assuming its the clear screen protector that I have on my Note 3. When I pull the S Pen out and attempt to pick an option nowt occurs unless I press harder on my second attempt.

Was gonna tell u to increase sensitivity in options.
NOTE 3
It is only S Finder and S Pen that need to be pressed twice ( or harder ) before they activate.
Tried to put the S Pen launch in other areas of the screen, same issue. I blame software.

Does it make the S-pen stick to the screen? I put a spigen crystal screen protector on my phone, and the S-pen would stick to the screen when I tried to move it across the screen. I wound up taking the screen protector off. Does the steinheil ultra crystal screen protector have this problem?

Does the Note 3 come with a screen protector on it?

I noticed it when I unboxed it, I kinda wanna peel this off, but I'm not sure if I should. The S Pen seems less responsive than the Note 2, almost like you gotta press harder.

I think they meant the plastic protector when you first open the box, but that has writing on it. You're talking about the actual screen itself. It's a chemical coating. You can't "peel" it off. It will wear off in time (Like five years. LOL). That's the reason you don't see it smudging that much either.

Tempered glass screen protector

Did anyone else get the screen protector from the OP store? I must say it feels way to small... It doesn't cover the edges at all... Are they all like this?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
Yeah, they are all like this. I sold mine right after it came.
Mine came in short as well. And it is quite bothersome. It can be annoying when watching a video to see a rainbow line all the way across the screen.
Yea... I think i'll just have a naked screen untill i find a better one.

You have it backwards, my friend. Better to keep it on until you find one. Some scratches come out of no where! The annoyance of the nonfitting glass is a small price to pay for an undamaged screen. In my opinion. Im just very ocd about my screens and phone over all. Lol

Try Ultimate Shield. For oneplus one is perfect. Maybe for OP3 it's ok

Somewhere on oneplus page I found that the glass protector and foil are smaller because the screen is not flat at the edges and so you would see bubbles on the edges.

OP3 screen protection

Hi OP3 owners! Need your advice, I put my eye on OP but made a little research and see that there is problems with screen protectors for it because of rounded edge. What is your opinion?
Now I hesitate and thinking about mi5
Thank you!
well there is a screen protector already on the phone preinstalled. but its not glass if thats what you want
Yeah, but as I have read it is not the best, and the screen is the weakest phone part and need to be protected... So i just dont knmow what to do. I wonder how good is Gorilla 4, can it protect screen from general factors for 2 years?
I got myself a imitation orzly kinda screenprotector.
It works perfect edge to edge. It has a bit of rainbow when the screen is not on.

Listen all screens that have a small curve have this issues with a sp. That my tgsp sometimes gives me a little bit of rainbow. Yeah I can live with that. It is way better then replacing screens after a drop. 90℅ of the time rainbow ain't there.
Anyways. You want a perfect settled screenprotector. 2 options. Get a flat screen. Or get a foil based screenprotector. Noting along the side will be 100% perfect. But hey just my 2 cents.

If you take care of your device it's more than good enough.
My previous phone had Gorilla Glass 2 - after 3 years the screen still looks the same as on day one. The phone was kept in the same pocket as keys and never had any screen protectors or cases. Dropped twice: once from car seat level onto its side (onto asphalt), once from pocket level flat on its back (onto concrete tiles).
I'd dare saying that Gorilla Glass is pretty damn durable ? It will survive anything short of direct hit. But then again, even screen protectors won't do much against that.
