Screen fade out instead of CRT animation? - Nexus 4 Themes and Apps

Is there any mod, or anyone who could make a mod that changes the screen lock animation from the CRT to just a simple fade off? When the screen turns on it fades on, so just like that except for screen off.

You can achieve that with Xposed framework and a module called Xblast tools by FemBlack.

On AOKP ROM there is an option for that. Untick "CRT screen off" under general user interface. I guess other ROMs might have that option too.
cheers

On CM at least that setting just makes it turn straight off, no fading, it just cuts black.

i did that once i just changed the value of config_animateScreenLights to true,i think its in sustem ui or frmework res

do you have xposed framework? try the gravitybox module, it has the screen fade as default and has the CRT as an option

I've been using XBlast. Works perfectly, but the fade animation lasts a little too long. Anyway to just have instant on/off, or at least animation-free? I don't care for eyecandy.

This thread made me realize how cool it would be to have more screen-off effects.
We have so many customization options: statusbar and navbar transparency, list view animations...just imagine there would be more effects build in the ROMS easy switchable in ROM settings.
If it is even possible. How neat would this be?!

So does anyone know how to implement the fade effect on our device without using any Xposed modules?

Just close and open your eyes slowly when turning screen on/off

I would like to do some brainstorming and hopefuly get attention from some people who know how to do such a thing...
We know there a flashable versions of animation mods, like screen transition.
Couldn't even this be integrated in some kind of ROM Control?
If this is doable I think some options for screen off animations shouldn't be a problem?!
I mean some roms even have the option to use the CRT effect as screen on animation so it looks like it isn't integrated too deep in the system.
Someone knows where the CRT effect is located?

Sure, it is in services/java/com/android/server/power/DisplayPowerController.java
You got to compile Android from source to be able to alter the animation. See AOKP and CM github for reference.

[Q] Rotation transition effect

is there a way that i can change the rotation transition like iphone
good question?????????????????
Try asking in Q&A this is development..
And yes you can.
TrOjAn
LauncherPro can do this.
Perhaps some other lauchers too?
Hes talking about icons, not the whole screen.

i mean the rotation thingy i think its like u should edit it by framework but i dont know how for short landscape to portrait animation effect
How about this?
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/226604-how-mod-custom-transition-animations.html
The OP wants to animations for AUTO ROTATION.
When you turn your screen to landscape view and back.
have somebody found something about that? i'm realy intrested.
Ups, must have missed that.
Yeah, I miss that, too. Android is choppy enough the way it is - even on a spec beast like the SGS. The missing rotation animation doesn't make things better either...
Hes talking about when you turn the phone to portrait and landscape.
SGS just changes with no animation, where as the iphone has an actual animation where you can see the screen turn.
Would be awesome to have that on the SGS
think android 1.5 or 1.6 got that animantion... can we/anyone port it?
any idea how?
Please someone......id try for it myself but im no good at coding at all .......auto rotation transition on androids suck bells......soo id appreciate if some kind soul took some time and figure this thing out ....booyaa

imported from darksimplfy by manually. thanks for winrar
When I apply this update there is no taskbar at all. I have deodexed XXKPH.
this update is not deodexed. you have to use not-deodexed stock rom.
I have applied this and it was good. However, i did not like the animations so i had to turn it off, but the thing is even though it is set to "no animation" i can still see some screen animating (and it feels weird).

[Q] Moving power bar in notification tray?

From what I've seen of ICS, it doesn't look like the power bar is part of the notification tray, which is something most oems are doing. Do I honestly need a custom ics rom just to have this essential feature?
huh? the battery indicator is right where its always been...

At a guess, I'd say he's talking about the Power Control widget thing, which, for example, Samsung have incorporated into the notification shade in touchwiz.

There is a shortcut to the settings but no individual toggles. You'll need to do an additional screen press I'm affraid.

I dont understand why they dont include it in the notification bar.....and dont forget that in Nexus we did not have the option to delete homescreens...there are 5 screens by default.

Im sure the cyanogenmod team will fix that rather quickly.
there are apps that add those toggles in the notification bar like elixer2 and widgetsoid if not mistaken

There are, but they're not quite the same.
Nevertheless. Either Cyanogenmod or a modified Framework.apk should be able to fix this easily once you have unlocked/rooted your phone.
There are several good notification toggle apps in the market that behave just like CM7 style. I even have one running on my stock android Honeycomb tablet.
Those Samsung toggles aren't stock thus wont be included, but there will be workarounds pretty quickly.

No such mod is available for the One X (yet).
What's the status on this today? I remember the first pre-alphas with CM actually had it but it was buggy as I remember (or did they ever have it?). Would be awesome to see this come to the OneX!

I loved seeing this on my LG Optimus 2X with CM7!

Main differences between Cm10 and Task and Ktoonsez

Hi all.
I am using Cm10 and have been for awhile but was wondering what the main differences are between CM and Task?
Can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks a lot

I find AOKP gives you more choices to customize your device.
Would you mind elaborating on that and giving me some examples
If not I totally understand.
Have a great evening

You have more options to mod the UI:
ROM Control- you can get nav bar like in nexus
change battery icon style, color
disable or custom boot animation
change toggle style and layout
add brightness bar to statusbar
enable face down audio mode when u put phone face down it would go to silent or vibrate
and more
lots of goodies that in cm10 you have to custom install
I find cm10 to be smoother than aokp

Interesting, seems like there are quite a few extras and worth the trial. The only think i see missing from CM10 is the additional 2 shortcuts from the lock screen (not a huge deal for me anyways)..
I'm curious though, how would one use ROM control with nav bar like in nexus (since S3 already has meny and back capacative)? Just wondering how it may be used..
Thanks again

Some people are used to the nav bar, maybe if they're coming from a Galaxy Nexus or something. I don't find it useful at all, because as you said, the S3 already has a menu, back, and home button. Also, you'll lose a bit of screen space by using them. Hope this helps!
