I recently purchased a blue HTC One at Best Buy the other day. Had them on sale for $49.99 with new 2-year agreement. What I did was add a new line to get it at that price. Going to sell my S4 and then canceling the old line and paying the ETF with what I get for the S4. I'm midway through previous contract on old line, so the fee should only be about $230. Only thing that sucks, is that I have to tell everyone I know I have a new #. I could probably switch the numbers on the phones, but ETF would higher canceling the new line. Plus I don't think they would let me get away without paying some kind of fee if I canceled the new line because I got a brand new phone out of it. Anyhow, paying ~$300 for a new HTC One this way is a lot better than paying upwards of $600-$700 IMO.

doubt it, by cancelling that line, you give up that number and it automatically is pulled from circulation for a period of time.

best network in the country isn't worth the most expensive plans? Seems like they are number 1 in customers for a reason.

If you want to buy a phone off contract go to swappa.com. Period.

Question about phone upgrade

So my $75 upgrade (used to be 150, which is bs) just opened up. I need some clarity on how the pricing works. Is this $75 off a new 2-year contract price? Or $75 off a full retail price and I still have to sign a 2-year contract? If the last one is the case, do I even get a 2-year contract price when my current contract expires?
I believe its $75 off retail price and to sign a 2 year contract as well.
75 off retail.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
You may be able to get them to make a one time exception and qualify you for a full $150 upgrade if you are the main/primary line. That's what retention is doing for me but I'm waiting for the gs2.

Wow. That sucks then, I have to sign another contract to pay $500? No thanks... Might as well wait until my contract expires to get a new contract price...or will they even do that?

Yes if your contract expires you can get the new contract price.

Your contract and your upgrade eligibility don't necessarily match. You can be out of contract and still not be eligible for an upgrade. However, there will probably be more flexibility if you're out of contract as Sprint would want to find a way to keep you as a customer.
The $75 upgrade isn't much of a deal, in my opinion. If you use it, you're signing a new 2 year contract, and you're pushing your $150+rebate upgrade out another year.
If you're not Premier Gold and you want to upgrade more often than every two years, I think it makes more sense to pay full price for the phone (or find a deal from ebay/craig) every other year.
Sprint is not flexible at all on upgrades right now. Don't waste your time it will only make you mad.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Sprint is very flexible actually .. Just call 877 775 4886 that's the retention direct line and tell them how your upgrade was suppose to be full and now its not since they changed the premier things... I got mine moved up 10 months if the first person you talk to doesn't help out ask to speak to their supervisor or call back QUOTE=DirtyShroomz;16441394]Sprint is not flexible at all on upgrades right now. I called and tried the to get the full $150 and they basically blew me off..Something about my phone is not THE main line. The contract is in my name and I added my mother and daughter but for some reason apparently my mosm phone is the main line..How the hell does this happen?
A supervisor told me that there isn't anything that can be done and some other stupid crap and if I wanted to upgrade now it would have to be on my mothers line..Well I don't want to start a 2yr contract over on her line cause she will be going to prepaid next year when the contract is up.
So my only choice is to cancel my contract and pay $100 then sell my EVO and move to another carrier..
Screw Sprint..
I was able to get a supervisor to approve an upgrade overide. My $150 was supposed to be 8/01/11 before they changed they downgraded me to silver. I haven't used the upgrade yet because I haven't decided on a phone but I did get it approved. The thing that sucks is that it can only be with Sprint directly. Can't use your supervisor approved upgrade at another store such as Best Buy or Walmart where the prices are better.

"FREE" causes a lot of issues with a lot of consumers, mostly with expectations. Plus, the "freebie hunter" crowds, the kind that will bring 50 coupons to the grocery checkout aisle and buy groupons to places that they already go to every week (and are cheap to begin with) are horrible customers.
Just adding the penny makes a world of difference.

Yes. You're entitled to return your device if you're not satisfied with it within a particular period.
Just make sure that they cancel your contract as well.
Amazon has been pretty nice with their return policy, I have returned items that doesn't have issues but I wasn't happy with. I just wrap up everything neatly as possible and usually get full refund minus shipping.
I know there are many people on contract, but for me I wouldn't even pay 1 cent and enter two years contracts. You have to pay double ETF if you need to change carrier, one to Amazon and one to the Carrier.
Early Termination Fee (ETF)
If I terminate this Agreement before the end of my Commitment, I will pay an ETF of up to $325 if purchasing certain specified Equipment (e.g., Smartphones) OR up to $150 for other Equipment for each tel. no. associated with my service as indicated in the Terms of Service.

If your contract is up, call 611 & when prompted for input say "cancel". This should get you to the loyalty department, 'inform' them you are thinking of switching to AT&T because they offered you free Galaxy S3s if you did. They will definitely give you a better price than you can find anywhere as far as retailers are concerned. Please report your success story with us
My dad simply just called customer loyalty and said we were thinking of switching and what's the best they could do for us. So I ended up getting the 32gig white s3 for 240 and that includes shipping and all fees

Agreed! T-mobile has been losing contract customers in significant numbers to either pre-paid or other carriers. This above strategy used to work for me... until I found a family member that works there... That's what you really need!
Just to add to the info on what you should be able to easily get: my contract expired and I called to "verify" that it was. I also mentioned that I could get the same phone for $150 less with another carrier at the time. She immediately offered the phone for $229 (16gb) with a $150 bill credit to bring it down to $79. PLUS she gave me the $20 5gb data plan and a $10 monthly credit for 24 months! Also got free overnight shipping. Oh and I still get to send in for the $50 rebate!
Hope that helps give you an idea what to shoot for.

If you're off contract tmobile will do close to anything to keep you if you have been loyal (5+ years, no late payments)
For me I always jump on the latest and greatest so i'm constantly under contract, tmo still honors my loyalty and gives me great pricing along with monthly discounts.

[Q) buying through best buy?

Saw this phone on best buy for 150 and I'm eligible for a 2 year agreement just wanted to know if any of you guys have bought through best buy before?
If so Does your plan changed in any way whether it would be data?
Reason why I ask is because T-Mobile is always making it impossible for their customers. I see it as a smart investment worse comes to worse down the line I can always opt out and pay that 200 penalty to get out, I would still have my s3.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
I hate Best Buy but couldn't resist their low prices so last year I bought 3 phones online. It work out good for me. Not only I end up paying for the phone much less than any other place, but also somehow I didn't have to buy a data plan with those purchases. I have a family plan and that did not change also.
Last week I tried to add fifth line to my plan and I had to add minimum $20 data to new phone so I'm not sure how it is now...

Long time - since there were Voicestream - probably 10 years.
I bought this phone from bestbuy in october since I was eligible for an upgrade and bestbuy had it for way cheaper than tmobile ever did. Only part of my plan that was suppose to change was my data plan but it never did actually change. I still have the same plan I had before purchasing the phone. No complaints
Thanks guys. Yeah its way cheaper than what Tmobile has it right now about 340 with the upgrade. You guys did it through the phone or in person. One rep I was speaking with told me that I can't get the phone in store because T-Mobile doesn't allow it? Is this true or just BS. I was going to get the blaze through T-Mobile but it was going to come out around 184 basically around same price I'm getting the s3 for through best buy.. Not a big Fan of the 4'7 screen but oh well.

I actually did mine online and I had no problems. Bestbuy also gives you the option to add a warranty I think but I'm not to sure since I didn't get one
the issue to consider is that BB will sell you the 2 year plan, which continues the "subsidy" (we all know it's baked into the monthly price, RIGHT?) even after you pay of the phone. Consider a tmobile store - and a value plan, where there is more of an up front cost (possibly), but the value plan is a purchase of the phone as a transparent process, and when it's paid for (20 months?) you keep the phone, and the monthly price drops.
If you can do a "small buisiness" plan - go for that! $40 per month to 1000min and unlimited (5GB at 4G speed). $50 for unlimited/unlimited. Add $20 for phone, and stll cheapest way to go...

New TMo Zero Down Promo

Not bad...Starts tomorrow for a limited time
http://www.dailytech.com/TMobiles+Z...Smartphones+Starting+July+27/article33052.htm
I love you t-mobile
YOU KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2NYT8uV_VQ
No zero down mean you don't need to pay for it now. So instead of making you have down payment right now they put that payment toward the monthly payment plan.
Say you want S4, instead of 150 down and 20x24 totaling 630, you pay 0 down and 25x24 total of 600. $30 saving. Not bad. .
But phone like HTC one, you'll be paying 0 down and 25x24 total 600 instead of 80 down (Web)and 20x24 total of 560 normally. Cost you $40 more.
Over all tmobile is being aggressive lately. .

That's annoying as hell.
I just talked to a Loyalty rep this afternoon to change plans and waive fees, who told me about this promotion. I asked him three separate times if the lack of down payment came back on the back end, by either increasing monthly payments or adding months, and every time he told me, No, it's $20 for 24 months.
I'm getting my Note II tomorrow, and I guess I'll see what happens with my next bill.

Also u have to b in the "A or B" credit bracket in order to qualify for the zero down. And for each line u open there is still a $50 charge for taxes. So 4 lines is $200 plus $10 per sim kit (new costomers).

I came from Sprint a week ago as well. Wife got a HTC One and I got the S4. I'm on the jump program and wondering if I should do you what you did. Was it hassle?

Not at all except for the wait. They r very slow at my store. BUT... When they refund the money u will get the$50 tax per phone back as well. BUT.. u will have to pay that back up front. Ull receive the refund 48-72 business days later.

Yes you do pay extra on the back end for it being no money down, but a lot of people do not want to pay a dime upfront so for them, this is good.
