Change Log:
SUperNatural
I removed some heavy libs ... and the stock browser.. the Device seems to be loving the free RAM about 60mb in system storage has been freed since last shaving... 2 lib files @ about 25mb each then the browser @12mb its faster than before very snappy now.

Something new to flash for flash-o-holic. Thanks for this. And a really fast download too.

I need further testing on the subject of battery... what i do know is that a lot of weight is off its 'shoulders', and a lot of battery eating apks are gone. So with that in mind battery should be better and the device should be quicker for the reason that all that extra RAM is waiting to be used whenever you want it be used rather than just keeping apps running in the background.

no that one is still posted on sourceforge. Supernatural is the same but a little lighter. I changed the name and lightened it up, I'm going to keep SUperNatural for a while =] so you're not missing a whole lot but I did notice that the 60+ MB I shaved off it seemed to respond more how I like it, right away. the web browser not including chrome.apk itself the sbrowser and the libs for chrome and sbrowser were over fifty MB. and the sbrowser was 12MB.. the ROMs we once had were 60 mb lol

I assume you can use any kernel? Like Adam Kernel per se.
Thanks!

More bloat can be removed, but I'll leave the rest up to the user. --- [whitehawkx]

Smooth. No tweaks...just stock ROM that's been optimized and a few tmobile apps gone. A good Base Stock ROM. Only thing is that in the Video app...only 2 of my 22 videos are animated. This happened on another ROM...but works perfectly on stock Samsung.
If you're looking for a STock ROM that's smooth with no CIQ. This is it.

thanks for this rom. this is exactly what i was looking for. the other rom (i was using) that was stock rom debloated got rid of s voice which i really like.

Thanks oka1, this is just great post and thanks again.
This bring back great memories with the ownership of the Vibrant.
With this new phone, the learning begins all over again, this time around I am a bit wiser to the phones hardware and to the rom's capabilities. Now this will enable Developers, Themers & Kernel cookers to explore their development skills and to take a stab a themes.
Now I have to spend time with this phone and identify the bloatware and look for the right tool to remove them.
Thanks again oka1
Excellent Rom
I love this Rom - to me it is the best out there. Everything works fine. It's plenty fast with a stock kernel, no quirks from what I've seen. I've tried CM9 and other roms which are good, but this is a good base Rom.

[HOW TO][EASY] ODEX your rom, make your phone faster!

As some of you may know, odexed roms offer better battery life and superior performance compared to deodexed roms, but the one drawback is that they're harder to mod. I was looking for a odexed rom (coming from the HTC One X, almost all stock roms were odexed, so I expected the same, lol) but couldn't find a single one. So I went on a search to find a script or something to odex the rom I was using, and I came across this!
"Odex Me" by Paulobrien! Here's the link to the original thread, all credit goes to him! :good:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215271
Now here's where my part comes in, my step-by-step guide!
This will work on ANY DEODEXED ROM, I'm compiling a list of confirmed ones however for you guys that are weary of this.
*Use this only AFTER you've made any changes to the framework or flashed .zips that change the framework.*
First and foremost, make a backup! You should always do this before messing with system files!
1) Make sure you have a rooted rom, without root the app won't do much but install.
2) Allow "Unknown sources" by going into Settings > Security > and scroll down.
3) Download the .apk either down below, or from the link above.
4) Install as a normal app.
5) Open the app, make sure you give it root access, and it will run.
6) Let it run, it will reboot your phone, take around 5-10 minutes, and then reboot again. You will be greeted by "Android is upgrading" which means its rebuilding your dalvik cache.
7) Once its at the lock screen, done! You can make sure it did its job by using a file explorer with root access (I use Root Browser, if that helps) and go to the root of your phone's memory, go to system > app, and you should see a bunch of "appnamehere".odex files.
You will see a noticeable increase in performance with all the system apps like Messaging, Phone, Browser, etc. And because all the base apps are now odexed, you will also see an increase in battery life as well.
List of ROMs confirmed working
FreeGS3 R6 (confirmed by me, using it currently)
Intrigue ROM
Crimson v4
Wicked v2 (confirmed by as well, check post #48 for screen shots)
Let me know if you think there's a way to make the guide more clear, or add some information in. I will also try and answer all questions you may have! Enjoy this, its truly amazing!
If you're having issues with it not odexing on ANY rom, try using the Trinity kernel. I've tested every rom with Morfic's kernel and it works flawlessly. Don't forget to thank him for his work! :good:
Trinity Kernel, use the latest #46 release for best results and speed.
Please, if it worked for you, let us know what rom you're running so others can be assured that it works!
Here are some sources that explain the benefits of odexing in more technical and specific terms.
Difference between odexing and deodexing Q/A
Rootandandroid short article on odexing
XDA TV Episode which explains the benefits of odexing

Because it splits the .apk (app package) into two parts, the .apk and a .odex file. Usually, for the phone to use an app, it has to decompile the .apk and get the parts it needs to run the app. With the odex files, which stands for "Optimized Dex" the startup time is much faster since the phone doesn't have to perform any optimizing at startup/runtime, and because of that, it also uses less CPU power, and thus makes it faster, smoother, and battery life is increased.

Eh. Im always the guy running stock odexed. But reodexing seems a little...idk. Awesome that you would bring this over though, i know in the one x section you are hard pressed to find a deodexed rom.

Well after flashing a deodex rom (all the roms here) and any add ons, running this to make the phone faster and increase battery life is nothing short of amazing. Don't have to compromise over customization, or performance.
And yeah, its because of the One X that I realized the benefits lol
I personally prefer odexed roms as well because of the overall smoothness. But I really wanted the features of some custom Roms. This app is perfect...thank you for sharing!

[ROM][LEAK] Stock TouchWiz JellyBean (T999UVDLI7 Leak Port) - 09/15/2012 (NEW BASE)

The T-Mobile folks received yet another nice JellyBean TouchWiz leak (T999UVDLI7) on 09/14/2012. I've managed to port the ROM to work on the Sprint SPH-L710
As this is a leak from an incomplete and final build expect the experience to reflect this. Developers, feel free to use this as a base improving on it.
I recommend enabling "disable HW overlays" in developer options as it significantly improves performance.
If you want to see what this ROM looks and performs like, qbking77 has made a great review of this ROM over on youtube.

Yes sir
We actually got started on Warm FourZeroFour using an ICS base, however after the recent international and now Tmo leak we are thinking about holding off dev until an official JB OTA is available.
Interestingly enough Team Warm spent all last weekend getting Warm FourZeroFour working on all US carriers which we were pretty successful at. Little did we know this knowledge we acquired would be used to port a T-Mobile leaked ROM to Sprint the following week.

hey eugene, if you can enable wifi before setting up Google for the first time, the process of syncing can take less than 1 minute for me..so if you can let us access the toggle bar and hold wifi and enable it from there then continue on with the set up, that would be great!
No mirror? Keeps saying download fail

missing the point in AOSP....
Just use wifi after the Phone boots up... I don't want to tarnish what a pure AOSP rom is.

So tempted to flash this ROM, but jelly bean is so buttery smooth. Plus ICS ROMs eventually give me the YouTube HD lag. Jellybean never does. Can you OC with Eugene's kernel?

[ROM][MIUI US v4][JB 4.1.2][UN-OFFICIAL HERCULES PORT] JMAX_MIUI v3.2.22

First things first, I am not a dev, just someone who loves to tweak his gadgets and picked up on how to PORT.
I ported the latest MIUI (v3.2.22) for myself and am either lucky enough or have enough basic skill to make it work!
I do plan on keeping this up to date as MIUI releases updates but I have a wife, 2 kids, a dog, 2 lizards, etc, etc, you get the drift I'm sure!
HUGE THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING FOR HELPING ME WHETHER THEY KNOW IT OR NOT!
MIUI US
CyanogenMod
OXD34D - I only was able to do this by working backwards from his last official port!
Tmogalaxys2 - pointed me in the right direction a few months back... and
Android88- Great dude, always has HELPFUL answers!! Thanks man!
WhiteHawx - Started me on porting MIUI back in my LG G2x days
BigDogPooh - Answered several key questions for me and pointed me in the right direction
ChiragKrishna - Although I don't use his port tool it still helped me to work backwards
Google/Android
Samsung
Apple (for driving me to be an Android lifer!)
If you think I am forgetting anyone let me know via PM and I will add them to the OP!!
You can check out MIUI US here:
http://www.miui.us/content.php
and CyanogenMod Here:
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/
Now for the next part. This ROM Port works for me, my daily driver and what I need it to do. I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT IT MIGHT DUE TO YOUR DEVICE! Your warranty is obviously void if you haven't read around after rooting, I will not be held responsible if your alarm fails to go off and you are late for work, etc., etc., etc..
The good stuff...
Ported from the Nexus S. MIUI v4, JB Android 4.1.2
Based on Cyanogen 10.0.0 Stable and the latest latest MIUI version (will keep updated in post #2 changelog)
CM10 stock kernel
Download here:
3.2.22b (Camera and USB Storage Mount fixed)
I highly recommend a full wipe because of all I changed...

FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS
(how i do it... if you do something else than what I post immediately below and it doesn't work, don't ask me why )
1. Download rom and place on your external sd card
2. reboot into recovery (I am using TWRP 2.4.4 but can confirm anything back to TWRP 2.4.1 will work fine)
3. Factory Reset
4. Wipe Cache
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache
6. Wipe System
7. Make sure you followed steps 3-6...
8. Install rom
9. Install radio of choice (Optional, I am using UVLI4 out in Utah and it works great)
10. Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache
11. Reboot
12. LET IT SIT FOR 10 MINUTES TO SETTLE!!! THIS DOES HELP, TRUST ME!
13. Reboot
14. Set up device
15. Enjoy! :victory:
Please search, search, search. I will answer questions as best I can though.
Post #2 Changelog and goodies I've found
Changelog and Goodies
3/21/13 - Camera and USB Storage Mount Fixed
FULL WIPE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Fixed USB Storage mount bug
Swapped to CM10 Camera so you should have full 8mp and video recording now!
Build prop tweaks
Updater Script tweaks
I suggest the UVLI1 or UVLI4 radio for this rom
Bugs: "about phone" still shows internal and external sd cards merged for total size, stock file explorer and other file explorers see the difference though. I'm working on this, got a good lead on how to fix from android88!
As with most JB ROMs you may have call quality problems (echo, underwater sound), not everyone does but it is pretty much a given until Samsung and T-Mobile get off their lazy butts and release a true JB update for our device.
3/12/2013 - Initial port release
Bugs:
"about phone" shows internal and external sd cards merged for total size, stock file explorer and other file explorers see the difference though.
In order for USB Mass Storage mount to work when connecting to your computer you need to go to Settings>Storage and change the default connection type to "Mount SD Card" for right now. I can't get it to prompt at the moment.
Camera reported to only be taking 3mp pics and video recording not working.

Just uploaded to post #3, sorry, my first thread so I'm a little slow... :silly:
First & foremost, thanks for the work. I think the fact that all devs do what they do for little to no pay is a fact that goes heavily unnoticed in the android community.
Secondly, I was wondering how long you've been using it as your daily driver? Have you gotten around to cycling the battery a couple times? If so, could you give a rough estimate on how long you expect a full charge to last?
Thanks! Been a miui fan since my Samsung Vibrant days, and love the idea of a stable port coming to our device.
Thank you for your contribution! it's greatly appreciated!!!

Sadly, I don't think we will ever see a stable miui. we can come close BUT there will always be some bugs due to the source being closed. until miui china decides to go open source and let other devs take it on, there will always be issues. not trying to be negative or discouraging, just keeping it real. thank you for supporting the devs!
I will install after the full of charge. Thank you very much!!!

You're talking about the actual hardware buttons right? If you go to the toggles and click "more" there is a toggle that disables them.

I agree, not sure if we ever will have a build that is 100% but 99.8% is pretty close!

For me it is lasting a whole work day or better (6am to 7/8pm). I have my email set to only sync every 15 minutes and I keep my screen brightness pretty low.

Is anyone experiencing echo? Not sure if noise suppression is part of this ROM or not. Just curious.
I've been looking for the GB version of Miui but I can't find a good link!
