I need the stock ROM, but MultiUpload is down

Hi all,
I rooted my XP (using zergrush) and removed some bloatware. Now my headset speaker is giving me issues and I want to unroot in case I have to send it back to Verizon. The problem is that the stock ROM files all seem to be hosted on MultiUpload.com - which is down. I found a system.img file, but I don't know how to use that. I have CWM installed so I could restore a stock backup and then unroot, or I could use FlashTool with an FTF file.
Does anyone know where I can get either a backup file or an FTF file for 2.3.3 for the r800x? Or a simple way to use the system.img file?

Well, R800x doesn't have a stock rom for 2.3.4 actually, only UK roms do. Pretty sure system.img can only be flashed via fastboot but I could be wrong

Thanks for the correction, Jacklebott - I should have known that because the file I was trying to download from MultiUpload was 2.3.3...
Fastboot is where you have to download the SDK and set up drivers and such, right? If so, I was hoping there was an easier solution, but I can work on that if I have no other choice...

Well, fastboot needs an unlocked phone, so if you only have root it's not gonna work. Not sure if you can flash system.img as a backup file via recovery when locked though, could be worth a shot

To fix your R800x, you will need to Return to Stock:
1. Download Flashtool from here: Flashtool. This gets installed to C:\Flashtool.
2. Download the stock ROM ftf from here: R800x 2.3.3 Full 3.0.1.E.0.88 FTF. (This is on MediaFire, not MultiUpload.) You will need to unzip that file to the C:\Flashtool\firmwares folder.
Then just follow the instructions for Flashtool found here and you'll be back to stock in no time. As long as your PC recognizes your phone when you plug it into the USB cable, you shouldn't need anything else.

Many thanks!! I made a few missteps but I was able to get it back to stock pretty easily with those files and your instructions. At least now if it keeps messing up, I can send it back to Verizon to be replaced...

Rooting stock 6.1.A.2.55 with locked bootloader

I found out new method of rooting 6.1.A.55. For me this method was easier than rooting .50 with bin4ry method and instaling prerooted .55 with cwm.

newest flashtool
LT26i_6.1.A.2.50_1257-5499_WORLD.ftf from jvsykes
LT26i 6.1.A.2.55 SG Generic (1257-6921).ftf from xdafileserver.nl

Method:
1. Flash (with flashtool) LT26i 6.1.A.2.55 SG Generic (1257-6921) (no need to wipe data)
2. Let it boot, turn on data debugging.
3. Flash LT26i_6.1.A.2.50_1257-5499_WORLD EXCLUDING system.sin. (how to use flashtool:
4. launch Root_XpS.bat (from my zip)
5. turn on your phone and connect it to PC
6. After second reboot completes check for supersu in app list. if is missing - redo from step 4.
7. Flash (with flashtool) LT26i 6.1.A.2.55 SG Generic (1257-6921).ftf EXCLUDING system.sin. (no need to wipe data)

Sorta tempted to do this, but tbh .55 doesnt really seem to provide anything much new so I think I'll wait.

after i can update my phone OTA i flashed back
to 50 , root then update to 55 & still rooting

I've been wanting to update to .244 but the rooting problem is preventing me. I've read this topic here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386405) but I'm not quite sure how to use flashtool. Questions:
1. They say to install/flash via flashtool the last firmware kernel where root was do-able. That's .423. How do we extract the kernel from that firmware???
2. Root using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit v18? Is that compatible with our ZL? IIRC, Doomlord released up to v17 on our device.
3. VVVIMP STEP? <- What is that? Sorry. Currently downloading flashtool .9.11.
4. After above steps, install/flash the kernel of the latest firmware, .244?
If I understand correctly, you will need to:
- Extract kernel of your current firmware(.423) - How to extract? What tool must be used?
- Update to .244 (Companion or Flashtool or either?)

At this moment there is no working root for .244 as far as I know.

Yes, you're right.
Get your Phone to the newest FW.
Get the complete .423 FW (.tft) into Firmware Folder in Flashtool.
Uncheck everything until you get only kernel and loader.sin in that little Window inside Flashtool....then flash.
Root with v18 Version of Doomlord's Tool.
Then the same Procedure with Image of .244 to get back the newest Kernel.
I think VVVIMP STEP means.....very very very Important Step

You need both FTF original packages: the older version (.423) and newer one (.244) for your ZL edition.
Some users report success when using another ZL edition (e.g. 6503 with 6502 phone) but if you want to be sure, get your correct firmwares first.
Once you are fully on .244 version on your phone, reboot to flashmode, use Flashtool, select your .423 version, and:
* UNCHECK all three on WIPE
* CHECK everything on EXCLUDE except KERNEL.
That will leave you just with 'kernel' and 'loader' on Content list. Proceed to FLASH.
NOW CLOSE FLASHTOOL!
When you boot your phone again, first ENABLE USB DEBUGGING and UNSECURE SOURCES. Then, use the provided special EasyRootingToolkit he gives on that thread; it's fully compatible with ZL versions.
When finished rooting, boot to flash again, use Flashtool, this time select .244 firmware, and AGAIN, CHECK/UNCHECK same as before, so as to leave only kernel and loader. Flash and reboot.
DONE!

Root Newest fimware 10.3.1.A.0.244

[ how-to ]
1.Download the three files from the download section below
2.open FlashTool and flash the C6503_10.3.A.0.423 kernel.ftf - 7.12 MB file, this is JUST the kernel of an older firmware which was rootable
3.now once flashing is done reboot device and connect to PC in usb debuggin mode
4.CLOSE FLASHTOOL
5.extract the file DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip to root directory on c:\
6.execute runme_ file corresponding to your OS on desktop PC, this will execute a SPECIAL version of my easy rooting toolkit
7.the above step is crucial! if you use any older version of the toolkit then IT WILL NOT WORK!
8.after rooting is over the device will restart
9.you can verify if device is rooted by checking for SuperSU app (it is the newest version)
10.once thats done now power down device and open FlashTool again
11.now flash C6503_10.3.1.A.0.244 kernel.ftf 7.17 MB file to get back to the true kernel for the firmware
12.thats it after flashing is done just disconnect and power on device and enjoy rooted phone!

If what you want is to have full 10.3.1.A.244 stock, then NO, if you follow step 11 you are only flashing new kernel; you need the whole FTF package, to update to new version.
I am uploading just that as we speak; but for C6502. However, it should work fine with C6503 too (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Actually I've been using a modded C6506 firmware for some days, and it was fine.

What recovery are you using? Link?

[Q] nandroid backup of stock rom

I've recently obtained a Z1 Compact. It runs Android 5.1.1. Bootloader is locked. No root. Coming from an HTC One S, the steps involved in getting a custom rom seem a bit confusing to me. I'm quite pleased with the stock ROM, but I'd like to give my trusted Cyanogenmod a go.
To be able to revert back to stock I think I'll need a nandroid backup (or are there, like with HTC, RUU's around that I could use?). Coming from an 'untouched' phone, how do I get to a backup of my stock rom?
I've read quite a few threads and a lot mention to create a backup, but explain how to do it.

after root completed gohttp://nut.xperia-files.com/path/XZDualRecovery/XZDualRecovery_2.8.21 and download Z1C locked dual recovery 2.8.21.RELEASE.INSTALLER.zip.
extract the zip files,connect your phone to PC and run the install file.
then follow the on screen instructions and after these steps you have a recovery and you can have your back up

If you're talking about backing up a clean install, it's a far easier thing to flash a new rom via FT any time you want. Backups are a good idea, but if you're not backing up your data also, just keep an ftf file somewhere, and it takes about 5 minutes to get back to stock any time you want, (unrooted of course).

No. Your backup is the ftf file. Just download it to your computer and keeps it on hand and you can flash it with Flashtool anytime. Root is not required for FT, but if you are rooted, then flash an ftf, you will lose root. If you want to be able to retain root but return to clean install, download a prf file, which is flashable via recovery anytime. You'll need to root first for that.

Open Flashtool, give it a minute to start, make sure check 'unknown sources' and 'usb debugging' on your phone, and connect. Click the Xperifirm icon on top to open it and find your firmware. I've got an additional question about the so called TA partition. Do I need to make a separate backup of the TA partition to revert to pure stock? Can I use Flashtool to do this as well?

If you're talking about backing up ta partition, I've never done it. I know there are extensive threads about it in cross-device development forums. If you mean new ta update, (new bootloader), I flashed mine with Emma, but I've read that it is included in new fw, so you should get it when you flash rom.
