Post your boot animations! - Shield Themes and Apps

Hi,
One of the first things I do with a new Android device is to change the boot animation, I like customizing stuff!
Here's a couple of nice animations that work well with the Shield: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/2587-boot-animations-collection-of-boot-animations-updated-111911/. My choice currently is the "Rezonance" animation, which makes a nice transition between the NVidia trademark green and my blueish launcher theme
Please post your favorite (tested) boot animations in this thread!

How exactly do you install a new boot animation on the Shield? The thread you linked said to just put copy/paste into data/local but for the Shield that is located in the system partition which is not available via MTP. Would you care to share some instructions?

Hi, I use Rom Toolbox Lite, it's free on the Play Store and can do a bunch of useful things, including installing boot animations. Be aware though, that it can't backup properly the stock animation (I tried but it wouldn't restore it properly). You'll need to be rooted.

RC33 and theme issues [Theme Developers] update!

Just thought I'd share what I've run across so far. After updating to rc33 the market would not work, I have since done a wipe, tried installing a complete them I converted to rc33 and it gets stuck on the second boot screen, so I decided to play with some files and see what could be causing it. I removed the framework-res.apk and replaced it with the stock one. Now I'm getting to the android logo screen, so something may have changed with framework and I am using the template to create this theme. I noticed I was still getting txt messages even though I was on the android logo screen, I've seen this before when I removed Launcher.apk and didn't replace it. So I replaced my launcher with stock and it boots up my theme, sorta.
I have a list of icons that do not take the new icons i've created.
Amazon
Camera
myFaves
Market
Pictures
Settings
Superuser
Terminal
Voice Dialer
Voice Search
Youtube
Everything else is working just fine and copied over. What kinds of problems has anyone else run into? I'm done for the night, gonna work on it some more tomorrow
**Update
including a link to a modified jf rc33 file that frees up system space by removing media files

I can't get past the Android screen. Is there a way to go back to RC30?
I updated to RC33 and had Buuf installed before the update. Installed the RC33 first then the radio, no issues. It even kept my Buuf wallpaper.
I just installed the light version of Buuf that the creator released a bit ago and had no issues updating that. Maybe he can shed some light

did you make a back up with Nandroid? You can also put RC30 update on your SD card and boot into recovery console and update back from there.
Not sure how the new Radio is going to work with RC30 though
any theme creators wanna chime in?
I am not a creator but I have some input I guess. It is very puzzling.
I edited Stericson's stock theme template, changed app icons (removed some apps) resigned each APK, modified the framework-res.apk (did not touch any xml files, and tried to only modify images I thought were changed to create Blue Star 5 - my basis for theming). I zipped it up, signed the zip. And updated my phone.
It took a while to get past the android logo (which by the way did not change color as I expected with the new framework files), but eventually booted up for me. No problem. My case may be special, because before I applied my update I removed some stock APK's and all the stock ringtones, ensuring I had room to spare on my /system partition. I removed amazon, email, and IM - the APK's and ODEX's. My update zip that I used initially to apply my theme contained :
All APK's except those listed above - resigned all that I modified.
And JUST the framework-res.apk
I have since modified some more files in the framework and created another update.zip that just included that file - it applied just fine.
However, no one else has been able to install this theme on their phone (that I know of), and I can't figure out why. Maybe it is the space that I had free?
I am at work right now but when I get home I am going to start from scratch. last night I was using stericson rc33 and was installing the hole drawable folders to the apk.did not think there are new images in some of the apk.that is what you get when you try to get a theme out fast and I am going to look to make sure the images are still the same name .there is some new apk. in rc33 and not just voicesearch.apk and tmoimplugin.apk and like i said at work so i don't have the names rc30 has one apk. not in rc33
yeah tmoimplugin.apk is where all the emoticons for Im are stored.
I just tried editing the clock in launcher and applying it but it didn't work. Maybe it does have somehthing to do with system being too full, that could explain why only some icons are changing.
I installed a theme and now I'm stuck on the Android screen.
I have RC 33 and I tried wiping data and still won't work.
Help Please
Anyone know how to get rid of the theme and wipe everything back to RC 33?
I don't have access to my sd card so I can't reinstall RC 33.
Can anyone help me?
please don't spam the boards, this thread is about figuring out what issues are keeping us from installing themes. If you don't have access to another computer you can't reflash the jfrc33 update

I think you are on to something with this, I removed the amazon app then reflashed one of my update files and now my custom my faves icon showed up. Of course i got forceclose on a few things and my phone wouldn't find service. I wonder how we see how much free space is in system
I am not spamming.
Obviously I installed a theme which caused my phone to screw up.
Don't worry I'll try and figure it out myself, thanks for your help.
Possible solution to RC33 theme crisis!
Ok I'm not entirely sure how or why this works, but with any luck a sharper mind will! Whenever i replaced the application icons or frame images the phone hangs at boot and i'm forced to unplug and restore via nandroid. However if i copy the image file, edit it with gimp and then put it back (resigning both the apk and the zip, it updates perfectly. At present i have modified about half of my icons and got a new splash screen. I just thought i'd share this success and hope someone can work out whats different about the new icons etc.
three posts in 10 minutes is spamming. starting a new thread would have been better
I am not sure what changed but i tried copying the PNGs i changed in framework-res from FadetoBlue and it won't go past the first screen. But i did try editting a bunch of files from RC33 and it works fine. So i think most the themes will need to be rebuilt from RC33.
Just my 2cents. hope i am wrong though.

From terminal emulator or ADB run "df".
Try removing some stock APKs from your update file, and see where that gets you. Of course, remove them from your phone.
Safe ones are (if you don't use them) com.amazon.mp3, email, IM. You can remove the apks and odex's if you don't use those programs. That's what I did and my theme flashed fine on my phone, but not on others (who probably have those files installed) also I removed the stock ringtones, you can just pull the whole /system/media folder and push it back after testing.

I just copied pngs as well, and it did work for me. I think Stericsson hit it on the head when he mentioned free space in my other thread. Definitely an avenue to explore.
yeah this is a free space issue, with the stock rc33 update I only have 352k avail in system, I just made a file with only app icons being changed, by rebuilding from scratch and now system has 0 available and not all my icons flashed over, infact it even removed myfaves.

[Q] [REQ]Rotary Lockscreen

Hey Guys!
I was just wondering if it'd be possible to get the rotary Lockscreen on HTC Desire. I found the Thread in the Theme Section but it seems that the .zip-file from there isn't working, 'cause there isn't actually a Lockscreen in it. The Vanilla Lockscreen is in every Smartphone with Android, because it's part of the OS, but not the rotary... So shouldn't there be a Lockscreen itself anywhere? In the zip from the other Thread there is only a META-INF folder and the system/framework folder with the android.policy.odex file in it...Or is the screen itself in the odex file? The whole zip is about 1MB big...Not very much
Thanks for your help in advance!
There is a lockacreen apk in the market that has the rotary one. Maybe not what your looking for but its an easy fix. I'll post a link when I find it
From a galaxy far far away....
Yeah, you mean such apps like Lockbot etc. Don't like 'em, 'cause you can sometimes see the original (Sense) Lock and it's just not the same like the real thing, you know?
But thanks anyway
EDIT: Thanks to the Mod who moved it into the Q&A Section and sorry for the extra work...
Check out this thread
I assume you've seen this thread already :hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686567
The thing is you need to flash the zip through the recovery, then it will work.
Cheers
At first, I started the phone with the Volume Down and the Power Button, went into Recovery (Clockworkmod) and went into the Menu where I can mount and unmount drives, 'cause it didn't work via Terminal. I've got no idea, why, but it just didn't work. When I saw that /system was mounted, I cd'd into the system/app folder and renamed the Htclockscreen.apk to Htclockscreen.bak, so the phone won't find the Sense Lock. Then, I typed in "Exit". My next step was, to mount the sd-card in Clockwork, because the file needs to be pushed onto the SD. No problem, the file (update_rotary.zip) was pushed successfully by adb. So I chose "choose .zip from SD-Card" (or smth. like that ) in Clockwork and clicked on the update_rotary.zip. The flash went on without problems and was, of course, very fast, because of the small filesize. After flashing the update_rotary I chose Reboot Phone and it went to the white HTC Screen. Nothing special. Then it showed the Bootscreen (HTC - Quietly Brilliant) - nothing special, too. But after a short time, the Bootscreen started new every 4 or 5 Seconds. So the Bootanimation was finished and began from new...Bootloop. And that was with ev'ry Rom I've tried. And every Rom I tried was deodexed, like it has to be....So I think I didn't make any mistakes and if so, please post them so I can try it
Clockwork has known wiping issues.
AmonRa is what most use.
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvik
Choose zip and flash
Reboot.
If that doesn't work redownload your zip or revert the adb changes u made. Hope this helps. Sounds like your on the right track.
Ps. That app is called lockbotpro
But I know what u mean "its not the same"
From a galaxy far far away....
Thanks...Gonna try it right now
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
EDIT: Installing AmonRA v5 first
EDIT2: AmonRA on my phone, flashing AuraxTSense right now, 'cause its deodexed. And that is important for this Mod
EDIT3: Made the changes. Waiting for reboot....
Reboots every 5 or 6 seconds....I think that's a Bootloop, eh? Hate it! I'd love to have that Lockscreen!

Live Wallpapers

Hey all,
Live Wallpapers have been pulled from XDAndroid builds for a while. They do slow the device down, but they are eye candy... and I know everyone loves a little eye candy now and then.
So follow these steps if you want to give Live Wallpapers a whirl. I've included two (Starfield and the Matrix) but there are many, many more you can download once they are enabled... No guarantees any of them work, and again - This will slow down your phone, you've been warned!
Onto the directions:
Two methods - on the phone directly, or thru adb. Either way, you need to grab the .zip file (attached) and extract the files to your SD card. In reality you only need LiveWallpapersPicker.apk to enable the feature, but if you don't have any Live Wallpapers in mind, grab the other two APK's and put them on your SD as well.
First method - adb
Press enter after each entry...
Code:
adb shell
Code:
su
Code:
mount -o,remount rw /system
Code:
mv /sdcard/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk /system/app
Repeat the last step for livewallpaper.starfield.apk and livewallpaper.matrix.apk if you wish. Obviously the commands are assuming the APK's are at the root of your SD card - change the path if you placed the APK's in a different location.
Finally,
Code:
mount -o,remount ro /system
Second method - on the phone.
You need Terminal Emulator or ConnectBot. Connect to a local (root) shell.
I was going to make a separate section for this, but in reality it's the same steps as above - minus the adb shell part. Again, if you place the APK's at the root of the SD card - no folders - the above directions verbatim will work on the phone itself. Enjoy!
Feel free to use this thread to share your experiences and favorite Live Wallpapers - especially if you find one that works better than others, etc.
PS - In case you're unsure, once you've done this (no need to reboot) you should be able to long press on the desktop and go to "Wallpapers". You should now have a new option, "Live wallpapers".
Figured I would add my experience to kick things off.
mgross029 inspired me to try Live Wallpapers again, because of Go Weather. Pretty cool weather app, with a nifty Live Wallpaper for sure!

Combine this with tweaks from arrrghhh's speed improvement thread and WOW! My TP2 is running better than it ever did in WM!
Your results may very!
Iv tried making this work, (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256011) but i cant seem to get it to work at all.
Im using a RHOD300 (tilt 2)
i downloaded the
Attached Files
LiveWallpapers.zip - [Click for QR Code] (347.8 KB, 45 views)
extracted them to my desktop, then placed them into the root of my SD card, then I ran haret and booted into android, then without going into terminal emulator i decided to see if i had a livewallpapers option just for kicks, and there was! but it kept force closing. then i loaded up terminal emulator and followed the steps (noted that im doing the "on phone" method) and sure enough there was indeed a new "live wallpapers" selector. however, whenever i try to use a live wallpaper, it force closes. (i even tried using livewallpapers i downloaded from the market, but that didnt work either) after rebooting to see if that was the problem, the same instance occured.
Thinking of a workaround, i saw that they were .apk files, so i this time placed them into the android app folder (where all the other .apk files are) and hoped that would work. and it didnt. So im at a loss as to what im doing wrong.
Also, by on phone method i assume that meaning downloading from your pc to your phone. not going to this page and downloading it to your phone
Any help would be much appreciated!
Edit: i dont think this would make much of a difference, but im using GO launcher ex from the market.

Well if you can select Live Wallpapers, you've done the steps correctly. If it's just FC'ing, I guess try a new data.img. Rename the old one to data.bak so you can easily revert to it.
This is experimental, and really a complete waste of time and resources - on the phone as well as your own . But I figured I would put it out there because so many were asking how...

Heh, yea... I realized that wasn't in there and probably could trip people up. I didn't think that was your issue, since you could actually pick LiveWallpapers.

I think the only reason why i could was because i put it in android apps with the other .apk files one time and then deleted it. After i did that the phone seemed to remember it was there after i deleted it and continued to have a livewallpaper option even after i deleted it. so thats why it wont work on the other data.img.

[GUIDE][KANG] Android Boot-From-SD w/ GAPPs and Play Store

This is a re-pack based on Catherall's own guide here: [GUIDE] Booting an Android System when only Recovery is at your disposal
The main difference from his copy (cyanogenmod 7.1):
- Google Apps (20110828) applied
- Updated to latest Google Play Store (3.7.15)
- update.zip modified to work on 4EXT Touch Recovery (ui disable)
Tested so far off of 4EXT Touch Recovery 1.0.0.5 RC5
What doesn't work and probably will never work unless someone makes new kernel modules for 2.6.35.10 (ie: the .ko files can be placed in the BootManager folder, and then have the init.d scripts edited to load those modules, but thus far none of them have worked for me because they were not built for that exact kernel, I don't know how to compile modules etc).
- Wifi [won't turn on]
- Bluetooth [won't turn on]
- everything else he mentioned in his first post regarding adb/etc
Made this as a new thread because his is quite stale, and catherall hasn't been seen in like forever. And kind of hoping that with the new progress maybe someone will take the time to write up some new gingerbread drivers for this purpose.
If I had the knowledge I would have ported an extremely lightweight Gingerbread Rom to it to be used as sort of a 'emergency-droid' rom, and recompiled kernel modules so that wifi/etc would work.
Instructions
Download the zip, unpack, copy BootManager and update.zip [zip can be renamed] to the SD card. Boot into recovery mode, run the update.zip to start up CyanogenMod 7.1 form the SD Card. (The original README is in the zip)
When you're in for the first time you'll notice the usual Google Apps setup screen, but it'll be in german. To change the language:
Press "Setup abschliben"
Press "Sprache ändern", select appropriate language
Continue the Google Apps setup as usual
It is advised that you do not allow it to automatically let it restore/install your apps as there will be no wifi connectivity and would be done over your data connectivity.
Download Boot_From_SD_wPlay.zip (~135MB)
md5sum : a352017b37bb546ffe0327bbe78304fe
Video from when I was first playing with it (after I put the 4EXT code in, but before I added gapps).

You should be able to modify the the image sizes with BootManager (from the market).... as the free version doesn't see 'Rom8' (which this is mounted), you would have to copy the contents of BootManager/Rom8 to BootManager/Rom1, adjust the image size to 1gb or whatever you wanted... then boot to cwm/4ext mount usb, and use your pc to copy the contents of Rom1 to Rom8 (keep a copy of the original Rom8 somewhere as a backup if it fails)
Never tried it, but it works in my head!
Hope it helps.

This is unlikely without also writing some kind of bootloader on the internal memory to launch from the SD... which of course would require that the internal memory were not in some way damaged. So kind of a catch-22 to what you're asking. Shouldn't be using SD booting as a permanent solution, it's more like a way of still being able to do *some* things while you work out on getting the phone replaced.
And here I thought you and all your work was gone, nice to see ya around kbeezie!

[MOD][ROOT][4.1.2] (22/8) [Full Working Real Floating Multi Windows] (Flashable Zip)

@xperiacle found a way to enable Real Floating Multi Windows on the Galaxy Note, and thanks to @THEDEVIOUS1 this mod came to our Grand.
I've tested it extensively and it works fine, look at the screenshots below.
THEDEVIOUS1 is too busy right now to make a thread about it, so he allowed me to make one here for my fellow Grand's users:laugh:
I've improved the original SystemUi that THE DEVIOUS1 gave to me (now it's lighter and more stable) and I found a way to add a minimize button and a double tap to maximize function while in Window mode, so now one can say that we have a Full Working Floating Multi Windows Mod.
I eventually found time to make a flashable zip, no more scattered files here and there. But before you flash make sure you read the installation paragraph since there are a few pre requisites.
Two thumbs up to @xperiacle the Multi Windows pioneer, without him nothing would have been possible!
DISCLAIMER
I'm not responsible for anything that may happen to your beloved Grand:cyclops: This mod works perfectly on mine but one never knows, so make sure you have a Nandroid backup in case.
INSTALLATION
It's pretty simple, but you must be rooted, and probably deodexed (I'm not sure on that one since my phone is deodexed, it may work with odexed ROMs as well).
1-Set Androidsystem's and SystemUI's DPI to 130 (it may work with other DPIs, but for sure not with 213) using app settings (link below, in the "ADDITIONAL APPS" section) or any app that can do that kind of job. In case you changed the whole phone's DPI, put it back to stock (240).
2-Set Androidsystem's resolution to 600x1024 with appsettings (it may work without this step but do it just to be on the safe side, once Floating Multi Windows have been triggered you will be able to revert it back to its default resolution if you wish so).
3-Download the attached zip, flash it in recovery, then clear cache and dalvik cache.
Reboot. The phone will boot and freeze after the Samsung logo and show a black screen, no worries, just restart one more time and you are done.
Congrats, you have Floating Resizable Multi Windows!!!
You will notice 4 icons in the notification panel, they enable 4 different view types for the windows. From left to right: cascade (minimized), dual (like the stock multi windows), triple windows, quadruple windows.
On the left there is a pin, select it to have your window to always stay on the screen and to be able to resize the window (that can be done from the bottom, the sides or the lower right corner).
Depending which phone DPI you use you may experience System UI force close, as for me I have tried with 240 (stock DPI), 220, 200, 180 and 160, it all worked (I recommend starting with stock DPI and only after you flashed the mod to try other DPIs to suit your taste). As said above I have my Androidsystem's and my SystemUI's DPI both set to 130, but it may work with other settings...
SOME MORE SETTINGS (After Flashing - Optional)
With this mod I found the flashbar being of not much use because it can't be triggered anymore (that's because the com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml has been deleted). No worries, this bar had never proven very useful anyway, I use Side Bar instead (very little RAM hungry) and so I deleted the FlashBarService.apk.
I deleted as well:
-minimode.jar in the /system/framework folder,
-com.sec.feature.minimode_tray.xml and com.sec.feature.flashbar.xml in the /system/etc/permissions folder.
If you don't delete the com.sec.feature.minimode_tray.xml you may have an ugly bar in the middle of your screen, so if you have it you know what to do
Note that you may not have the com.sec.feature.minimode_tray.xml anyway, it depends on which 4.1.2 version you run, some have it and some haven't.
After a lot of testing I found that setting Androidsystem's DPI to 108 or 110 suits me fine, and I put its resolution back to stock (but still, set it to 600x104 before you flash the mod, once it's done and once Floating Multi Windows are working you can change your settings). The phone is more responsive, and the bottom navigation bar gets very tiny, thus saving screen estate.
If your navigation bar doesn't display properly in landscape mode set SystemUi's resolution to 480x854.
You don't have any bottom navigation bar? You want it? Edit you build.prop and add the line:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Reboot, done!
ADDITIONAL APPS
Now you have floating multi windows but not all your apps open in floating mode?

WHAT'S NEXT?
This mod can, and hopefully will, be improved, cuz it's possible to add a minimize button in order to have apps to shrink to a small bar (like on a computer), and maybe to have a bottom minitray showing the apps and the icons.
Unfortunately it's easier said than done, so if anyone wants to give a hand to make this mode even better he, or she, is most welcome!
To have the minitray working one needs to have real Tablet UI triggered (plus some files added, I have them ready), which means that the status/notification bar won't be at the top anymore but at the bottom, and that notifications will be triggered from there (like on a Tablet). Alas, so far I didn't manage to get it working, I changed the phone's DPI to 160, 177, 200, 213, 220, 225, I used Xposed's Tablet Ui module, but without any luck.
Ok guys, that's all for now, if I get anything new be sure that I will update this post.
Enjoy your floating Multi Windows, and report here if you have any problems
UPDATE:
I managed to have the mini tray working :good:.
What is a mini tray?
It's a tray that pops up from the bottom navigation bar, and it's loaded with all your apps. It can be used as an app launcher, and apps can be launched in cascade, dual, triple or quadruple floating view from within the tray cuz it has the mini windows icons. So no need anymore to go to the top notification bar to change view, everything is at your finger tip in the bottom bar.
I will upload the required files and explain how to install them if some people are interested by this update, cuz my connection is very slow and I don't want to loose time for nothing:cyclops:. The thing is that the files are a bit heavy, like 30 mb, it may be nothing for your connection but for mine it feels like 30 gb!
Look at the 4 new screenshots below (the 4 last ones), and let me know if you are interested...
UPDATE 2
Allright, now the minimize button and the double tap to maximize work, see post 2 below
UPDATE 3
As said above I've remodded the SystemUI, now it's lighter (from 3.5 to 2.8 mb) and more stable. I've made a flashable zip with all the required files and tried it myself, it works straight away and no SystemUi force close (as long as you have followed the "INSTALLATION" chapter).
Report any problem here, and enjoy Floating Multi Windows
Minimize Button, Double Tap To Maximize
finally I managed to make work the minimize button and the double tab function.
Look at the screenshots below to get an idea, you will see that on the left of any window bar there's a minimize icon. If you press it the window shrinks to a small bar at the bottom of the screen.
The small bars disappear if you open a new app that was not skrunk yet and you have to click on one of the notification top bar Multi Windows icons to have them back, but if you open one of the shrunk windows then the others don't disappear.
Sounds confusing?
Yeah, maybe, but try, in fact it's easy. And handy
In window mode if you double tap the app bar it maximizes, quite handy too
The zip?
Above, in OP, there's only one zip mate, and it contains all the required files:silly:
If you are on 4.2.2 be patient, very soon I will upgrade my Grand and I will make this mod available for 4.2.2...:good:
will this one work on 4.2.2?
Thanks and cheers, great work buddy...

It has not been tested on 4.2.2 and frankly I don't think it will work since the modded System UI is for 4.1.2.
You can try though, but if you do so make sure you have a backup, or Aroma File Manager (it enables you to access your files from recovery, and in your case it would enable you to change your System UI back to stock in case the modded one doesn't work), or TWRP (same as Aroma, you can navigate through your files from recovery).
Good luck, and if it works please report here
Noo0ps not working on 4.2.2 and got system ui force closed

Does it boot? I mean you installed the modded System UI, you rebooted and then your phone booted?
Because if it boots with the modded System Ui installed it means that it's 4.2.2 compatible. The force close is not a big deal, I had the same on 4.1.2 until I found the right settings for DPI and resolution. The flashbar may interfere as well, and so may the TW Launcher (I replaced it with Holo Launcher HD, much nicer looking and more customizable).
But if it bootloops then it probably is not compatible.

Did you set the perms (rw, r, r) for the app? If you didn't then it will force close. What you can do is download this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
You put the file in your phone, you go into recovery and you install the zip. Then you will be able to access both your system and sd card files from recovery. Using the file manager you can copy and paste, and set properly the permissions, all from recovery.
If it still doesn't work it could be something with the DPI, or just that, as previously said, it's not 4.2.2 compatible.
Good luck
I've edited OP, cuz I managed to get the mini tray working.
Pretty nice to my opinion, have a look at the new screenshots in OP and let me know if you are interested...
OP edited (look at post 2), minimize button and double tap to maximize work

Did you clear cache and dalvik cache in recovery?
It could be the cause, but if it's not then it must be a problem with your DPI.
Did you install app settings (see additional settings in op, there's a link for tungstwenty's and rovo89's thread)?
If you did, just change android system' s and system ui's dpi to 130, and reboot.
Or, change the whole phone's DPI to either 213, 200, 177 or 160 (see which one works and is most suitable for your taste) using the ui switcher function in the attached app.

I did not clear both cache and dalvik cache in recovery.
I tried the app settings and change both the android system's and system ui's dpi 130, and reboot but the same result.
I tried the FWC app when i change the phone's dpi and reboot the app is saying that the current DPI is still 240.
edit 1:
My bad i just saw that i need to clear both cache and dalvik cache in recovery.
edit 2:
so i cleared both cache and dalvik cache in recovery. still same result
Mmmmh, that's strange. Are you rooted and on 4.1.2 (sorry for the maybe stupid question, but some people read OPs very fast and miss some details)?
Did you delete the multi windows phone xml in the etc/permissions folder?
Check this thread, it's about the time when I was testing the mod, from message # 30 it started to work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2319592&page=3
Then read further message # 42, # 44 and # 46, and follow the settings order in # 46 (that's important), here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2319592&page=5
But instead of step 5 in # 46 just install the system ui and the etc/permissions from OP here. Reboot, it should work...
Everything I did is there. At the time I had set android system to a 600x1024 resolution and I found since that it's not needed, but you can try anyway. Let me know if it works and I'll update OP with some more instructions.
Regarding the floating windows manager, if it doesn't work (although it should, I have tested it again 5 mns ago now and changed my DPI, strange that it doesn't work with you) you can try with another DPI changer apk like ROM Toolbox or whatever from the market, there are heaps of such apps..

Yes i am rooted on 4.1.2, yes i did delete the multi windows phone xml in the etc/permissions folder,
Ok i will read all the message posted and try all of your suggested solutions. Will update you if it finally works, thanks for the help anyways.
edit 1:
so finally it works woo. all apps are now able to float. but there still some problems.
1. i still cannot pull down my notification shade
2. i still cannot access recent apps (or is it a part of the new system ui?).
3. and i will monitor if the system ui still fc.
edit 2:
this is my installation process please check if i made mistakes.
1. i change the android system dpi to 170 and system ui dpi to 130
2. then change android system resolution to 600x1024
3. delete com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml in system/etc/permissions.
4. i delete my stock system ui in the apps folder using root borwser then copy the new system ui in the same folder, then set the permission to RW, R, R
5. then clear cache and dalvik cache using clockworkmod recovery.
6. then reboot
the floating multiwindow works but as i said
1. i still cannot pull down my notification shade
2. i still cannot access recent apps (or is it a part of the new system ui?).
3 and system ui fc every now and then but not that often.
Cool, you are getting close!!:good:
The recent apps should work, and the sytem ui shouldn't close, so it means your DPI settings are still not optimal. The thing is that it's hard to give a general rule since it depends on one's phone. Mine is heavily skinned, permissions restricted and modified, and for this reason my settings may not work on somebody else's phone.
Androidsystem, I don't know about 170, at first i used 130 and it was fine. Then, after a lot of testing, I found out that 108 or 110 suits me fine, and I even could revert the screen resolution back to default (but then I changed it to 480x854 cuz with default resolution the navigation bar didn't display properly in landscape). The phone is more responsive (including the recent apps button, so maybe your problem comes from there), and the bottom navigation bar gets very tiny, thus saving screen estate.
If the above settings don't work then you will have to test by yourself and find the right dosis for your phone. Reading the links I gave you yesterday may help, and if it doesn't at least you will see that you are not the only one that struggled to get this mod working:cyclops:.
I struggled mate, believe me, but the result was worth the effort.
Check post # 2 in this thread, I just uploaded the new files to get minimize button and double tap to maximize...

ok i will play more with my setting and keep updating you. thanks for the help again
edit 1:
i forgot to tell you that my phone is odexed maybe it's factor why i cannot pull down the notification shade and cannot access my recent apps because i tried different dpi settings and i still cannot fix it. I'll just be patient and try a little harder.
edit 2:
from what i have observed the floating MW only works for me when the android system resolution is 600x1024 and up, and it works even when the android system's and system ui's dpi is default. Aso i cannot resize the floating MW, will try more settings to make my notification and recent apps to work.
edit 3:
Another thing i've observed is that when i unistall my mw apps manager module, not all apps can float.
Your phone behaves strangely, you can't resize windows, not all apps float, you can't pull the notification bar...
The only explanation I see is the fact that you're on an odexed Rom.
You know, deodexed Roms have many advantages, specially when it comes to customisation.
Maybe you should consider flashing one of the various deodexed Roms there are in the development thread, not only to have multi windows but to be able to better tweak your phone and to install some apps that work only on deodexed Roms like for example xprivacy.
It's easy, just download the file and flash it in recovery...

For now i'm having with the mod i installed some apps to act as my notification panel like floating notification and go toucher. Maybe i will install a custom rom if someone will integrate this mod on their rom like in moon rom and maybe also integrate pa's halo. But for now i will play more with the mod and maybe try that minimize button. . Thanks for the help
I'm quite busy at the moment (I didn't even find time to make a flashable zip for this mod), but when I have time I'll download 4.2.2 and I'll make a nice deodexed custom Rom including this mod. Don't expect fancy colors and bla bla effects though, my roms are fast, functional and efficient but I don't care about that kind of customization.
For now, apart from being busy the thing is that I wait for a bugless 4.2.2 to be released cuz I see many people complaining about the russian update.
Hopefully it will come soon, otherwise I'll download the russian 4.2.2 and see what it's worth...
