Charging dead battery - Sony Xperia ZL

just received my new zl. tried to turn it on to test it out, felt the vibrate but the screen is black. i suspect the battery is dead and needs a good charge. i plugged it into the charger but no lights or indication that it's charging. did the same thing by plugging it into the pc and again nothing. is this normal? do i have to wait a few hours for the battery to charge up? or do i have a lemon ?
i hope to god this is normal. returning this for a warranty will be a major hassle as it was sourced internationally.

alright, i've managed to get the notification light blinking green but nothing shows up on the screen. figured it was off and just charging, i tried to turn it on but nothing happens. so i tried i the volume up + power button trick whilst the light is blinking green and it turns solid blue, but the screen is still off. i believe i'm in fastboot mode now. when i plug it into the pc and repeat the steps, windows recognises the fastboot mode but it can't install drivers for it (i've got pc companion installed). what the hell is going on?

update. plugging it into the pc and doing a light reboot (holding the back off button for 5 secs with 1 vibration) allows the pc to briefly recognise it. it does this for a sec or 2 and disconnects it. and then it will continue doing this on a loop. is this a boot loop? i'm trying to make it so that the phone can stay connected to the pc for a few minutes, enough time for me to flash the rom using flashtool, PCC, or SUS. but because it's connecting and disconnecting, i can't do anything.
so at the moment, this is what i have figured. i'm stuck in a boot loop with a battery that is dead. anyone got any ideas?

The only thing that I could think is that the phone is under warranty which Sony will able to replace it.

Bricked

Got a bootloop, figured to do a hard reset (volume up+power). Phone vibrated 3 times. Since then i have not been able to turn it on, and no led while being plugged in to PC, charger, no flash mode. It kept it plugged in a wall charger for 6 hours and still no red led. Help :crying:
- PC Companion cant recognize my phone
- tried volume up+power, connect to pc, then hold power+volume down
Note: Phone was not hot or warm during the bootloops
EDIT: Plugged phone into my computer 2 hours ago and finally a red led! Stupid wall charger -_-

Sucks not having a battery to pull don't it.
Step1: Don't plug to charger until your phone no screen no response
Step2: Plug it to charger for about 10min, it would be turned on automatically. Do hard reset(vibrate 4times) when it is turned on.
Step3: Open flashtool and select ftf, plug your phone to computer and press volume down simultaneously. Wait until the green led appear, It would be flashing.

[Q] One X Dead Single Red Flash

Hi,
My one X has completely died. I replaced the screen on it but now when I try and turn it on I get one solitary red flash off the charging LED after 2-3 seconds of holding the power button down and that's it. The weird thing is that I only get the red flash when the USB/charger is plugged in. After that I have to unplug the USB/charger for about ten seconds, plug it back in and then it will flash again when the power button is held down. I've measured the battery voltage and it is reading 4.00v. Anyone have any ideas at all? It's not as if I can send it back to HTC because if you open it, it is obvious I've opened it.
It's happened to me a few times before, I think it happens when the battery is completely dead.
I left mine on usb for a while, and then entered it into hboot mode by holding the volume button (down I think) and the power button. After you get to hboot could take a couple of tries, enter into recovery and then reboot the system and place it on the wall charger asap.
Hope it helps.

If u look on here there is a bat file for your phone that loops your phone on fastboot.
This allows a minute charge to the battery increasing its power and then should be able either to boot up or restore via RUU file for your phone.
Make sure you have ADB/Fastboot drivers installed and wait for an hour or so when running file

At the moment, when I plug the phone into my PC, it doesn't recognise anything being connected. When I run the find connected devices in the SDK platform tools it doesn't find anything either. Will the above still work or am I goosed.

Hold vol down and power and should show white screen with 3 androids at bottom and in blue text should say hboot.
Press power once and should change to fastboot in red text.
Connect phone and see if detected by pc then. (You dont run via sdk if drivers are installed correctly)
If you dont have drivers go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2135381 and install.
When I press the power button and down volume at the same time nothing happens at all. Regardless of how long I press them for. I'm pretty sure it's properly dead. If my pc doesn't recognise anything being connected I can't load drivers or anything to it. Might have to consign this one to the bin.....

Help, dead Z1C!!

Hi, only had it 3 days and it wont power up any more!
The battery was down to about 27%, plugged it into the wall charger and the phone just rebooted itself. After it booted back up I connected the charger again and this time the phone just turned off. The phone won't turn on any more, i just get a constant blinking red led light.
Tried a volume up + power button for a minute now nothing.
Tried pressing the little red button under the Sim, nothing.
Connected the phone to a PC and the PC makes a blip sound(found new device sound), but just keeps repeating the blip sound, like the usb cable has been unplugged and plugged back in over and over. Wanted to use the Sony companion software to do a reset.
Any other ideas or is it dead?!?
thanks

What did you do before it can't turn on?

Hi, not flashed anything as the phone was brand new. Spoke with the retailer and they swapped out the handset.
I did manage to get the device to boot up after more searching online, by holding down the power button for about 10mins and keeping it charged at the same time. The flashing red light then changed to a solid orange light, after another 10mins or so the phone booted up. But the phone was playing up after that even after a hard reset.

Xperia ZL weird problem

Hi All,
I recently tried to fix my older sons xperia zl, The phone would not power on, it did not show any signs of life when plugged in to a computer. Tried all the different button combos and the off button at the back of unit but still nothing.
So I opened it up and checked each component visually, did not notice anything wrong.
I decides to see what would happen if I disconnected the battery and plugged it in to just usb to the computer.
Well it showed up in device manager as a SEMC flash device, and the red notification light came on. Then it started to try to turn on without me pushing the power button, the screen gets to the sony logo and then goes black and starts again.
The next thing I tried was to flash a new rom to it, under Flashtools it automatically goes in to flash mode, found my rom and hit flash and it completed the flash. Disconnected the usb , connected the battery but nothing no power and still nothing in device manager.
Another weird thing that happens is that while the battery is disconnected and i hold the vol+ a blue notification light turns on and the phones goes into fastboot mode.
I initially thought the battery was the problem so I ordered a new one and installed it but the same thing keeps happen, anytime the battery is connected the phones does not react to and buttons, even when the usb charging cable is also connected.
I am wondering if someone has a schematic or know of a capacitor, resistor or fuse that is stopping the phone from recognizing the battery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HTC 10 Unresponsive & Can't Restart But Alive

I hope I'm posting this in the right place but I'm desperate for help.
My phone, HTC 10, froze and then the screen turned off while I was taking a picture.
The charge should have been around 80%.
Symptoms:
The screen is unresponsive.
Couldn't get the home button/finger print sensor to turn the screen on.
Couldn't get the power button to turn the screen on.
A call to my phone could not reach my number as well.
When plugged in to a wall charger or laptop no indicator light turns on.
When connected to a laptop, the laptop makes that connection noise and a long name with QualComm in it shows up.
Tried Power Button + Volume Up for 10 seconds but didn't get any result.
Side note:
The power button was a little faulty before as well.
You have to squeeze it a certain way to make it work.
I need to somehow restart my phone. Any ideas?

Try to clean all buttons really well, if it keeps failing to boot and the phone is still recognized as Qualcomm it's probably bricked.
Simple explanation of the word bricked :
When the phone doesn't boot, when you can't access the bootloader, download mode or recovery it's bricked!

Strange turn of events: I plugged the phone to my laptop because I read somewhere that it drains the battery. Just for the kicks, after a few hours, I unplugged and re-plugged my phone. Suddenly, there was light. The battery light came back. I immediately switched to the wall charger and once I did that the battery icon appeared showing 1%. Now, it's peacefully charging away. Will see if it actually turns on later on once it's charged about half an hour.
