You can change the backgrounds in the messaging app.

I have the same exact question. I dislike the white dilaer and message background.
And no, you cannot change the dialer theme. As for the messaging app, you can only change the background within the individual message screen. You can't change the color of the main messaging screen, where all the messages are listed.
Hopefully someone finds a way to bring the black/blue dialer and messaging theme to the american version.

Hopefully the Rogers version will have the Black Contacts and Dialer. They have with most models.

Are you talking about the "highlight" when you hold on an app?
As far as I know, that can be changed by the Themes.
Try a different theme and see if you like the change.
You might have to make up your own theme if there is no theme with a "no highlight" option.
Not 100% sure though.

You need to change focused_application_background.9.png (in Launcher.apk/res/drawable) to a clear graphic. From here it is an easy metamorph. You will want to search and read about .9.pngs before doing this though.
I believe you are talking about the text under the Icons, that has the dark oval background behind the white letters, right?
If so I am not sure if there is a way to change it yet, and have yet seen anyone do it.

I am fairly certain that can be changed using the colorchange.jar java app for cyanogen roms. I use it to give my theme white letters on a black background throughout. It seems to change the oval to black also, and thus can be changed. Here is the problem, it is tied into many other colors in the OS, and so it will not be possible to just change that color.

Black SMS and Black Gmail

Hey all!
So back when I owned a Nexus S, someone made black versions of SMS and Gmail to appease the amoled screen, and the fact that it uses less power when switched to black.
So I have a question for you all... would you like to see these applications (and possibly more) dressed in black?
Opinions below!

Pure black with cyan or blue accents, and I would be on that like white on rice

I couldn't agree more on your vision of what these apps could look like. It would be perfect. And they would look very smooth, visually.

Absolutely agree with the other poster that black with the blue highlights would be REALLY nice. Why they didn't match them to ICS is ... odd.
Something like the pic on right http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375255
would look great

Exactly... right around that idea would be perfect. If any of you have an older Gingerbread phone, I could upload the black apks I have sitting in my computer. Maybe we could check those out and get an idea of how to do this.

Heck yes!!
I hate all the white in Gmail and other apps.
I'd drive 60 mph on a Jet Ski in golf ball size hail for a black themed GMail app.

Thanks! Installed and working great.
Quick question, when we install these modified apps, can we still pull the updates to the apps? Like if for some reason the gmail app is updated and we're using the modified version, we can still download the update, it would just overwrite our modified app, right?

Cancel that. My Send button is gone, as well as my options to Reply All and Forward.
I tried this but it makes it almost impossible to tap the check mark so you can take multiple emails .. and any coloured html mail graphics look .. sub-optimal. I'd LOVE a blacked out version but the one at the link above is just not usable as a daily driver.
Does this work with Jelly Bean?

[REQ] Themed Messaging Apps

One of my most use app is the "Messaging" but i really find it ugly specially the bubble shape and the blue and yellow colors. Yes i can use some 3rd party app but also breaks the uniformity of the UI. Can someone themed the "messaging" App; at least make the bubble more pleasing and color to something else. Let the black background remain...
Sms/menu/settings there are bubble style and background style, try it yourself
I used handcents app as default SMS really good

I don't think anyone has created any yet, I'm looking myself. The email app is supposed to be invertible through settings, but at least on my phone it doesn't work right. Only a small part of the email body at the top changes to either blue or black. Changing font color works fine however. You can change the font to white and see no text at all, lol.

Orange color in messaging any way to change it?

Now that I have lollipop the top bar of messaging app is this ugly orange color. Does anyone know how to change this?
Yeah I hate that too. It's going to require a rooted phone plus either a custom theme, a rom with a theming engine or learn how to change it yourself. At any rate it does require root. The only Verizon Note 4 that can currently be rooted is the Developer Edition. They can only be bought at the Samsung website and they are out of stock there. Sorry for the bad news.
Hit the menu on the left and select background, you can change the background, header and bubbles to any color you want.

I think they are talking about in the stock Samsung messaging app not Verizon's Message+ app
Ah ok ..... sorry. There is no way that I have discovered to change the header color on the stock Samsung messenger app.
