Any mods for NFC while screen off?

I've seen on the gs3 forums so hacks to use NFC while the screen is off. Anybody know if we can get this going on the note 2?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
I found the thread for the Nexus, but cannot get confirmation that it would work with the GN2... This would be very helpful!
I tried the one that is floating around and it breaks NFC entirely. Had to restore the Nfc.apk that I saved.
I used the Xposed Framework mod to enable this and it works great. You can read about the Xposed framework mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067292. I got the NFC mod (as well as in call recording) from here: http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/forums/xposed_framework_mods/
I can also confirm that the DPI mods that are enabled by this work as well.
Hope this helps.

I already had Xposed installed. So I downloaded the module, installed it and activated it via Xposed and then rebooted. Nothing...
I have other modules that are working properly, so I know its not the XPosed application.
Any suggestions? Did you have to do anything additional?
After activating it in Xposed, I then had to open NFC LockScreen in the Apps drawer and select "screen is off". Closed, rebooted and then it worked for me.
*Edit:
I tested on my wife's phone and it doesnt work on hers. Im running cmenards N7105ZHALJ4 rom and my wife is running teshxx stock T889UVALK8 so it does appear to be somewhat rom dependent.
Im running the same ROM as your wife... Oh well...

Just for the hell of it I did a back up and wipe and installed the cmenards N7105ZHALJ4 ROM and I followed your instructions and it still did not work.
I am willing to pay a bounty to someone who can get this working. I am running the teshxx stock VALK8 ROM and simply want to be able to use the NFC feature while screen off and locked.

Anyone Have a ROM that Can Enables Line Recording?

T-Mobile Galaxy S2 (SGH-T989 Hercules) here. I really need to be able to record both sides of my calls on my phone directly from the line (NOT from the speaker).
Can anyone PLEASE recommend a ROM or ROM+tweak that will enable call recording on this S2 variant?
I've tried so many ROMs and apk tweaks and hit a wall every single time.
I will be your friend forever!!! :good:

First, you need to be running a TouchWiz ROM in order for this tweak to work.
Some good options include PTMR3's Jedi ROM and Jamison's Infamous ROM.
Next, find, download, and install XPosed Installer.
Once you have it installed, open it and hit "install/ Update"
Next, find, download, and install Xposed TweakBox
Make sure you go back into Xposed Installer and check the Xposed Tweakbox Module.
In Xposed Tweakbox--> Phone --> call recording. That will enable a record button on your phone when you're in a call.
** I haven't kept up but I believe that one of the ROMS I mentioned before already has Xposed Installer & Xposed Tweakbox preinstalled.
Let me know if this works for you, I haven't encountered any issues with this method.

Thanks for the leads, I will look into this. Do you know offhand if Jedi and Infamous preserve wifi calling abilities on the T-Mobile service?
Ok, I have confirmed that Jedi Mind trick preserves Wifi calling on the T-Mobile Galaxy S2. I will be testing shortly, I found the files you were talking about for everyone else's reference:
Jedi Mind Trick version 6 ROM:
http://d-h.st/DYe
(from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818305)
XPosed Installer 2.1.4:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1957219&d=1368387321
(from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401)
XPosed Tweakbox 1.4.0:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1757849&d=1361739667
(from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629653)
A million thanks to a93hunt !!
I can confirm successful line recording from my T-Mobile Galaxy S2 of BOTH sides of the conversation.
Latest version Jedi Mind Trick 6 comes with xposed framework, so you just need to update that and download tweakbox to activate and reboot. Then a record button shows up on the call screen and conversations are saved to internal sdcard in the sounds/ folder
you are the man!!

[ROM][4.4.2 TW] Community Rom

Okay lets get this out of the way now. You need to post what release you are on when you report issues. There are many different releases and I cant/wont help you if you dont give me the information I need to help you.
FYI: I will not add native hotspot hack. There is a published mod on how to do it yourself. The reason why is below.
Sprint says if you want to tether then you must pay an additional fee for it. It is in your sprint contract if you want to look it up. Almost all mobile providers do this.
Read this which is what you agreeded to by getting service from Sprint.
https://manage.sprintpcs.com/output/en_US/manage/MyPhoneandPlan/ChangePlans/popLegalTermsPrivacy.htm
Now they may not file charges and just terminate your service. It is in there power and right to file legal charges if they want to.
For users with power off charging issue!
You will need to upgrade your bootloader to NE2 for the power off charging to work. This will also give you a tripped Knox counter in download mode and void your warranty but if you flashed this or any other rom that you have already voided you warranty.
Another simple OP for now.
What is Community Rom. Well it is my own personal project that will take any and all help from our L900 users. I have started with the stock NE2 rom and will slowly evolve it into a S5/N3 rom. It will have all kinds of fixes, mods, tweaks, and themes from anyone who want to help.
Where the rom is right now.
Well the first Alpha release is basic. Pure stock NE2 except for the S5 systemUI.apk and root. I even forgot to remove KNOX in the first alpha. The stock samsung kb is giving constant FC's. Just push through the setup and then change to swipe kb (preinstalled) or whichever keyboard you like (the LG Keyboards do not work).
Please use Philz 6.07.9 recovery...
http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/l900
Flashing Instructions
1. Download rom and verify MD5sum
2. Place rom on phone (if not already)
3. Backup anything you need/want that is in your internal sdcard
3. Backup current rom
4. Factory reset/Format for new rom
5. Under mounts choose format /data /data/media (this is your internal sdcard)
6. Reboot into recovery
7. Flash rom and reboot
The first boot will take a long time so please wait. Also the phone will be a little sluggish for awhile (it has to setup itself).
If you have not taken the 4.3 or 4.4.2 OTA/ODIN and not flashed the wifi fix you will need to do so to be able to use wifi. This file must be flashed via Pc and Odin only. It will not work with mobile Odin.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358548565 -- this version is not compressed just flash it as is
Thanks to:

I like when people are straight-forward and to the point. Sorry if anyone feels I don't have a sufficiently lackadaisical attitude. Since OP called it a "community ROM", I assumed that the community was free to provide feedback or help in development. Take note of key phrases like "Things that I think should be added" and "All in all, great ROM". Any discontentment was clearly directed towards Sprint & Samsung. I simply don't understand why they choose to include "features" without giving users the power to turn them off.
I personally don't use SFinder because it does a lot of background scanning when installed. Quick connect is nice but a whole lot slower than simply plugging in a USB. With that in mind, I've attached a flashable zip that should remove those extra buttons for those who don't want them and fixes the WiFi icon. It seems to work; let me know if anything is wonky.

Systemui.apk with modified (correct 4g icon)
tx_dbs_tx said:
As most of you already know the 4G icon in community 1.1 beta has a minor flaw which has the 4G icon overlapping the data flow arrows. So I fixed the 4G icon inside the SystemUI.apk and made a flashable zip for people who want to get the stock 4G icon back. I also changed the color of the up/down data flow arrows for easier viewing. They are green and orange like the old style icons. I used the Community 1.1 SystemUI so this is tested and good to go for this ROM. It will likely work on other similar ROMs but I can't be sure that it won't break anything so do so using your own judgement..

How to check MD5
Use Es file explorer find your file and long press it. Now you will see a check beside the file. Press the more option on bottom bar and choose properties. On the popup window press show check sum and check the box for md5. Then press calculate. This should match the MD5 listed in the OP under your versions download link.
I will post set by step pictures later.
Aroma File Manager
Okay guys here is the meat for your philz recovery. Unzip the this and place in your clockwork folder on your external sdcard. It will work on your internal but if you wipe internal (like you should every flash) you will lose it. Once you place it there boot into recovery and double tap a blank part of the screen.
There is one tiny issue with this. Every so often when changing directories it will kind of hang. Dont worry if you see this just touch the screen and it will work.
I will put this on android file host later.

Guess I would say this one. Only thing not working is samsung KB. If you can go without wifi or MMS then I would suggest S5-FEAT. I will be updating this tomorrow sometime hopefully. Giving it a quick once over with S5 apps and a few special things TBA.

Yes wifi works here. On both roms some users have reported a sim issue which I did get a couple of time. I then went to a different modem (ljc) and have yet to see it in the past 2 days.

Most likely the modem that works best for a person will depend on his/her area as well as coverage. You'll have to figure out on your own which modem works and performs best for you.

Yeah, I was thinking of switching over to this rom then adding the n3 features.
Only issue I had was in contacts. Wasn't showing them, then closing out. After I rebooted I also wiped cache and all seemed OK. Will try to replicate it and pay more attention then post in the thread provided.

So can I install Safestrap on S4 already running NJ4 or do I need to go back to NB1 0r NC1?? Never Mind found answer. Thanks. Too much trouble. Will just stay on 4.4.4 until Lollipop OTA comes out.
Do you think you'll be able to add Note 4 Launcher, Settings, and Task Manager? If so then I'll try out the ROM. Don't mean to sound insulting or anything, but sounds like stock de-bloated with some updated apps. I might nandroid backup and try. I don't know yet.

I'm currently running Goldfinger on my Bell S4 with TWRP. Will this work on my version? Also must I update the kernel separately in ODIN?
Good Rom
So far it's a great rom it's stable I like all the note 4 features launcher file explorer ect...I appreciate your hard work! I did have to remove and add some stuff for my taste though I noticed on startup it didn't have the att splash screen which is fine but it still had the sound of the att boot up so I had to remove that and also I was able to still debloat the rom of some stuff that shouldn't have been there like Att Software update and Knox Agent??....so after I was done I was able to remove and additional 374 megabytes of stuff that I just didn't find nesseary for me...I also wasn't a fan of the White Phone Dialer and Contacts so I had to remove that and add the black one which makes it look a lot better but as far as the build it's very stable I would recommend for anyone wanting a stock experience!
Any progress with getting gear manager to work?
I don't know how it doesn't work as none of that was messed with. This also include Note 4 gear manager. As I don't use one I can't verify.
Having 5 kids in my house by myself tonight I didn't get the update up I wanted to. Hopefully in the morning.
When you post updates, will you post update zips or will we have to reinstall the entire Rom, rewiping and everything?

It's gonna be a full reflash I'm sure. That ensures that no problems caused by apps on your device occur after the flash. Clean flashing the whole ROM is the best route to go, my opinion though.

Tw launcher keeps force closing on me. I can't even get past the welcome screen
Maybe you forgot to install NJ4 Kernel or SuperSU ?
The rom works pretty good but some apps don't work. For example S Health crashes when you try to open it. Battery is worse than on stock rom , i will wait for the official lollipop.

rom that allows all apps for multiwindow

I just bought a Galaxy Tab s SM-T800 (with Lollipop 5.0.2) and have rooted it and added custom recovery. I am still using a Galaxy Note 8 and enjoy the ability (through root) to have floating windows and have any app I want as a split window. To my disappointment I realized that with the Tab s you cannot add any other apps for multiwindow other than those that Samsung deems compatible. You also cannot float the windows. I tried apps such as Multiwindow Manager but they do not work (I think because Lollipop has broken this functionality). I have also looked at xposed framework (which I use on the note 8) but I am afraid to try this since it is alpha and there have been issues on Samsung devices. Are there any roms out there that would be compatible with the t800 tab s wifi version that will allow more extensive multiwindow support? (BTW I looked at the SuperSamsung Rom but it says it is for the LTE models which I don't have).
No issues whatsoever with Xposed.
Xposed + wanam = any app you want for multiwindows.
Thanks for the reply. I have done some more research and just today saw a post about IronMan rom (forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/prerooted-stock-touchwiz-rom-t2973107) and if I understand the post correctly it is compatible with my tablet and has xposed framework as part of it. If I got this right then all I have to do is copy the rom zip file to an sd card, boot into recovery and install it from there and then I would have multiwindow and floating window support as well as xposed framework. Am I correct in what I'm saying? Sorry for my ignorance but would appreciate your input on this.
