Why a micro SD card but useless - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry I just really don't quite get this and it's made me quite angry so correct me if I'm wrong here. Do we blame Android or Samsung for this. Here is my question why the heck does my Galaxy Note II has the ability to have a micro SD card slot and yes I have a 32GB SanDisk card in there when yet again I cannot seem to transfer programs onto it to free up some space on my phone.

I have my 20gb collection of music on sd card.... but there is script for swap our 2 storages or you can bind folders

You can use link2sd directory bind or folder mount to move things to your sd card if your rooted

If I'm not wrong, ever since the S3 came out, APP2SD stopped working on subsequent phones models. I can't say whether it's Samsung or Google who implemented this since everyone in my house uses a Samsung device lol. But with the ever increasing storage size of newer phones, I don't really miss APP2SD.

I tried Apps2SD and no luck what so ever, complete blumen fail, get error telling me that my device does not support it. To say the least I am not happy about this at all. I but a Samsung Galaxy Note II (N7105 Model) than a further $55 for a 32GB SanDisk MicroSD Card and now I cant even transfer some of my programs to the SD card. I would if been better off buying a dummy phone and pretended to use it as a normal phone.

Well you can use the micro SD to keep your music and videos and reserve the phone memory for the apps. Unless you have a lot of big apps that eats up 1gb each like GTA, you won't run into any problems. Similarly you can try link2sd but like app2sd you will run into problems if your SD card runs into some problems or you take it out.

Try to root your phone though your phone's warranty will be void and use the app called directory bind.. It will help u solved phone memory problem.

The ability to move apps to so card had been removed by Google from jelly bean. . But Samsung is the only one who have reintroduced it from 4.2.2... and is also available on the leaked 4.3 roms and in note 3.. So if you want it. .. Flash the leaked 4.3 rom on your note 2... and yes it is better in all respects than the earlier rom

Don't flash the 4.3 leaked rom !!!!! Its for the N7100 only not the n7105.

I live in Australia here and how frigging slow we are in this country when it comes to technology compared to the rest of the world, I am still on Jellybean 4.1.2 yet again waiting for 4.2.2.

Ok what's the actual difference between the N7100 and N7105 model can someone please tell me.
Sent from my GT-N7105T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I use the SD card for pictures, movies and music. I leave internal memory alone as much as possible. So basically, for apps. But now the normal amount of space in a device is 32gb which is nice. With 32gb, I probably won't care about too many apps being installed unless it slows down the device. That's actually one of the reasons why I DON'T install too much crap on my phone... haha.
But still, it would be nice to be able to move apps to SD card, but in all honesty, I have yet to run into the low memory issue. I have very few games and the games I do have installed are "light" version of games, rather than heavy 3d games with lots of textures. I like puzzles and simple games.

N7100 is the 'regular' non LTE version of the note 2 while N7105 is the international LTE version.

[Q] Worth waiting for the 32/64 GB verion?

I've been holding out on getting a Note 2 because I worry that 16gb isn't enough space for apps (I like games), and don't want to have to mess with directory bind and such. However, a month on and there's no word of US availability of larger capacity versions, and I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet. Should I keep holding out, or get a 16gb?
You can always flash the patch which swaps sd with virtual sd. Works for s3 and note2. Will post link when im on my laptop . I'm using it and don't notice any difference playing games like Nova 3 or modern combat 3 speed wise
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
If u wont use those bind apps, then u should wait for the 32g/64 g version then, the real storage u got is 10 g and u can only install ~4 large games.

Try directory bind from XDA. I dont have to the link but searching should help. If you can't find it I'll get the link for you.
thank you!!!
Or use the mod that swaps your internel and external memory. You need a kernel that supports it (like Perseus) and if you have a 64gb card your phone will think it has 64gb internal with a 16gb external. That's what I'll do when 128gb cards become available

Hi there,
Just use directory bind, it's extremely easy to use and is free. I moved a lot of my stuff to my micro sd and have over 8 gigs left now on internal. I could free the whole thing but im only installing small apps on the internal now so it should last forever.

Is there some kind of a hardware limitation that note 2 can't use 128gb? because if there isnt it should work fine (hoping ^_^)

or if anyone whats to recommend a better\faster one im willing to spend more. thanks
That's what I have

I installed one of these and it died. Did not recognise so hif format and now nothing will happen to the card. Tried in PC with exFat compatible card reader and card nof even seen....so beware.

oh right, thats oput doubts in my mind then now, unless someone else has got good advice??
This is work fine just read there are post in this section saying how you need to format, i think if the rom you have is JB then this will be supported as ICS did not support exfat.
Also if you want something better go in for the new Samsung ones they have speed of 90 mbps but not are available in all countries and are very very expensive but the best money can buy
I got 2 of these one still in the package and it work right out of the box
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
It works fine in my N8000. Just poked it in and works fine straight out of the packet. Checked it in the PC and it came as exFat.
I believe in the UK we did not get the update to read exFat and I should have read all posts before ruining the Micro SD.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Note II App2SD

If this is in the wrong tread please move it.
I just got a Galaxy Note II on Bell Mobility. I have tried many apps for moving apps to sd card but have yet to locate one that actually works on this device.
I know I could Root my device and install a custom rom, but I would rather not do that. At the moment anyway.
If anyone knows of an app to relocate installed apps to the sd card I would greatly appreciate a reply.
Thanks
To be honest I havent worried about it since there is a ton of internal space. I had 200+ apps on my note 1 and plenty of storage space, and the note 2 has even more if im not mistaken.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Directory bind is your answer but needs root .
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
I guess I'll have to wait until a new version of App2SD is released and maybe it will fix problem.
My Note II is 16GB, 32GB sd card, but I load lots of music, movies etc.
I forgot about directory bing, thats a good idea.... are you rooted?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I am not rooted as yet. I am waiting for bell to update to v4.1.2 and see if someone cooks a stock rom rooted with no trip counter.
My pad has 16gb and I only have 2gb left.

[Q] Apps to sd

I was just curious if this phone allows you to move apps to your sd card unlike the note 2

No. But it has 32 GB of internal storage so it tends to be plenty.

Couldn't you use Foldermount. If you are rooted I don't see why you couldn't.
Folder Mount @ Google Play

Yes you could. I purchased the full version for use with my s3 and s4 and it works a treat. However, is it really necessary with 32gb?
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk 2
You probably can by rooting but seeing how I don't have the phone and was just doing some research on it and my friend is looking at getting the phone and he isn't big into the whole rooting thing but thanksfor your guys help
