s-pen tough to take out - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Anyone else noticing that the s pen is hard to take out? it doesn't slide out smoothly as with the note 2. Wondering if I have defected unit or something...

Nope. I think in trying to make it more secure they were a little overzealous. I think a spring loaded latch would have been a better option.

Compared to the note 2 it's like trying to pull a nail out of a 2x4.

yea note Z Was so much better design but this phone is hands down the finest device over all

Anybody else noticed how it can go in either way unlike note 2

I will agree with the above posts and say that the GN3's pen does require some effort to get out.. I even went over that in my initial impressions and/or unboxing videos for this phone.

What's your favorite lte compatible case? Pics please

Sorry for the double threads but I figured this will be better to get opinions. Can everyone say their favorite case for the lte version gnex? Pictures would be great. Also is it a dust magnet? My last case actually scratched my phone a lot by drawing dust into the case.

my favourite is .....
this is called case mate creature case. this is pure silicon(high quality..not like your usual cheap eBay silicon cases)...lil bit of dirt magnet....the best part is the design engraved on the back of the cover...protects the phone very well...no scratches whatsoever...

That's a great work case I'd imagine. I can't seem to find a nice small case
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Unfortunately it seems that the case makers jumped on the gsm version and assumed the lte version would be close enough.
Even with its problems, the ultra hybrid is still my favorite. It's pulled away a touch at the top and the back does get a little loose when hot, but it's not really that bad. I like how it doesn't have cutouts for the buttons, which I like. It feels the least like a case of any I've seen.

Went from the OG Note to the 2

Today I gave my son the OG Notr and bought the Note 2. Fast is the first thing that crossed my mind onbstock no less.
I received the multipane update and works fine. It almost feels like a smaller phone than the OG. I guess because its a tad more narrow. My smaller hands like that. Battery life noticeably better and I dont have power saving enabled but am on auto brightness. Speaker a little more clear and crisp. Voice calls are not as muffled. Screen looks good. Camera improved with HDR and extra features. I have a feeling a lot to read about new spen but will do that.
I bought this at BB for 249.00.

It's def a nice upgrade.

Sold my og note for 360.. got the note at BB too for 249.. Was nice lol basically I got it for free
I too like the more narrow feel. Makes it easyer to use one handed

I'm glad you like the upgrade! :good:
Sometimes when I look between it does seem like the Note 2's screen is smaller, it's narrow and longer. But it does play tricks on me lol. Wish they didn't make the icon grid size smaller though.

i bought mine off contract directly through at&t... cost me a pretty penny but worth it. though i sold my og note & one x for a nice chunk of chage, so it didn't cost me that much out of pocket. which is always good. not even gonna bother thinking about upgrading till note 3 rolls around. :good:

Yea, I mean for the size of the note 2 it's pretty light. But an even lighter phone would make one hand operation a little easier to use, allowing you to maneuver the phone around better with just one hand.

also, less impact force when it hits the ground
This is my first note phone. Previously had the S2, S3, and S4. Damn I wished I had jumped on the note series earlier. This phone is awesome. Really liking it. Screen is beautiful and I love the way it feels in my hands.

Pen input pressure

Does your guys pen require more pressure to operate compared to the note 2? On my note 2 I barely had to touch the screen, but the note 3's pen requires much harder pressure before it starts working. I even tested the note 2's pen on the N3's screen and it worked just fine. So it's gotta be the pen. Does anyone else have this experience or is my pen defective?

Mine has this problem too. It was normal when I first got it, but now it requires more pressure to work. I think its normal, so I'm not going to bother exchanging it.
There's an option in settings to increase the sensitivity, see if that helps.

Try replacing the tip. The bag that comes with the device has two types of replacements. Clear and rubberized. Change be tip to a clear one. Worked for me!
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe on the Note 2 you could adjust the sensitivity on the pen itself somehow. I never needed to adjust anything so I'm not sure. I assume the note 3 would be the same way.
Edit: Yeah here's the thread on how to do it.

Please fix the link. I'd like to read it too. When I'm writing with the pen its fine, but if I'm doing something casually like playing Bloon TD 5, I find myself wanting a bit more sensitivity.

I think I've seen that somewhere else as well. It works, it's just that the plastic cover is so fragile, I almost cracked it in half trying to open it, so I didn't want to try it again.

This! That's the tool you use to remove the nib(tip of the S-Pen) so you can change it once/if it becomes worn. In that same bag you'll find the replacement nibs as well. Between launch of the Note 3 and the Note 4, I only changed my Note 3's once. Even though I use mine daily, I don't draw or write too much with mine, and I know some people do. So I'd imagine you'll need to change it more often than myself if you use your S-Pen a LOT.
