[Q] B117 update - assert failed: apply_patch_check - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hi there,
for some time now I have been trying to update B116 to B117 getting the same error message every time:
View attachment 2311424
assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/app/HwCloudDrive.apk" ... )
E:Error in /sdcard/HwOUC/update.zip
(status 7)
I am guessing the update does not match the HwCloudDrive.apk (not sure, new to this). What have I tried:
1. Check the /system/app/HwCloudDrive.apk - not found in the folder, nor anywhere else on the phone. Searched the web, downloaded one apk, install failed for no reason (reason not stated, just that it failed)
2. Restoring factory settings several times
3. re-downloading many times
4. updating online as well as localy
So far nothing worked out. Some details about my phone:
Its P6-U06, android 4.2.2, baseband IMC1202_PENTA, kernel 3.0.8-00821, build B116SP01, bought in China, using New Zealand SIM (could this be a problem?)
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks to all!

Same issue updating error

Hi there,
nope, I haven't found the way. I tried a few more time since the post, no change, still the same problem. I have posted the message on huawei support, no reply. I'm at the stage of no-trying anymore, waiting for the next update and see...

There is a non so straight forward way to get it though by editing the "updater-script" file in the [ROMFileName].zip
You will need to unzip, edit the file (remove the line) with notepad and zip it back.
I've able to make it works with P6's MIUI V5 Offline OTA update rom.

update.zip is not correct

Format Sdcard And Try Again. If It Didnt Work Download Latest B125 And Try Again Hope This Works.

Please supply more info about this fix.

one assumes that you have already rooted your HTC Hero ?
If not then follow this
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-root-your-htc-hero-in-one-click/
once that is done then follow this
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-your-htc-hero/
This worked like a charm for me so I assume that it should work for you as well
Hope this helps

Since you are in Asia you likely have the 2.73.707.9 ROM you can check this under Settings/About Phone. Please see this thread:

Where, China? I've heard it called the G2 by virtue of T-Mobile branding it the G2 Touch, but never the G3!

Dave
I have this model also, just wondering when we are able to root the hero and install different roms will it enable different android market? I'm in the US and am lacking apps that should be present e.g Pandora, ebuddy etc.
I was wondering if this way of force updating would work?
download the official rom version 1.76.405.x firmware (not rooted),
boot up the unit using home+power (to boot into recovery);
extract the official rom's rom.zip and rename into update.zip
put that update.zip into sdcard's root
on the device, apply the update in the recovery.

try it, but i doubt it will work because it will check the CID in the rom.zip(or renamed to update.zip) file and that ROM does not contain CID's needed for most phones.
see here

I guess that's their meaning of non-CID'd rom reply?

uhm, could be, or it doesn't like the rom.zip (altough renamed to update.zip) zip file, which makes sence as we can create update.zip files and sign them ourselfs (stuff that for example paul (modaco) does) i need more playing time myself, but you can try and creating a new zip with the contents of the rom.zip and sign it, then look if that works....but i'm doubtful
funny thing is, i've downloaded the signed rom from modaco, (they are signed, as far as i can be told by the file name), and tried to flash it again using the same method:
log:
Code:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Veryfiying update package...
E:No signature (740 files)
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted.
still no go.
does renaming a file affect the signature?

no, but the type of signing is the problem, the update.zip (with cert/sign files inside the zip) is a different kind then doing an edit on the physical zip file and changing (signing) and thats whats being checked and we currently can't duplicate (or re-sign a changed rom.zip)
I found a solution after being told it was not possible.
The Brown Hero I purchased was also an Asian version and had no Market.
I was so scared and frustrated at first because everyone said there was no solution.
But I found one!
*1. Download Linda file manager from here and install since you don't have the market! (I had a copy already on my sdcard) goto Settings, Applications, and make sure Unknown source is checked ON.
*2. On your phone, goto Settings, SD card and phone storage, and click Unmount SD card.
*3. Then click Format SD card (it should automatically remount after this)
*4. Plug the phone into the compuer via USB, then pull down the notification bar and click on the SD card notification. Then click mount.
*5 Download the Flashrec apk from this link: http://zenthought.org/system/files/asset/2/flashrec-1.1.2-20090909.apk and install using Linda File manager.
*6. Download Amon_RA_Herov1.2.2 Recovery image and place on root of sdcard
*7. Open the FlashRec program and click on Backup Recovery Image and wait for it to finish.
*8. Once done, click on the empty text box in the FlashRec program and type
/sdcard/Recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.2.img
Then click on the Flash Custom RecoveryImage button and wait for it to finish.
*9. Turn off the phone and turn it on into Recovery mode by holding down Home and Power to turn it on (keep holding until the recovery screen comes up has a bunch of text on a black background). So long as that screen comes up, you have done it correctly and now you can load this rom which is HTC Generic 2.73.405.5
It's also referred to as Modaco version 2.2, it's what I'm currently using.
*10. Place that rom on the root of you're sdcard and use option Apply sdcard: choose zip option and flash! Once done reboot and you're all set and will have The Android Market and all the goodness that rooting provides!
Hope this helps!

do i have to unroot my phone first?
since it may have something todo with the build.prop:
i used a build.prop editor to unlock the feater to hide my softkeys bar like on the huawei m8.
thats all i changed in build.prop.
is it possible that it has something to do with that?
Edit:
After downloading the update again: copied the update.app on my sdcard /dload/update.app
tried a local update:
update fails with:
This phone is LOCK state
E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)
There is no update.app in /sdcard/dload or /data/share/0/dload
Huawei SD card update failed!

Sent from my GT-I8160 using Tapatalk
1) backup tee folder
2) On build.prop change all GT-I8160L to GT-I8160 (without L)
3) all wipes factory/cache/dalvik
3) Install CM_Xversion
4) Whith roo explorer replace tee folder

2) also can delete assert :/
4) you can just replace in zip before flashing (just sayin)

Am located in New Zealand, and hence using model i8160L, running stock JB ROM
Am trying to modify / install Maclaw CM KK ROM -- but am having problems
-- it "reads" the ROM and "immediately" (afaik) but aborts installation
-- NO ERROR MESSAGES come up for any indication as to why it's aborting
Am trying to do the following -- appreciate any feedback to correct procedure if I'm making eny errors
(i) omitting any and all references to L in 8160L string -- should I restrict it to any particular lines? -- using Build.Prop Editor
-- the Settings/About Device shows it as an 8160, rather than an 8160L after the Build.Prop changes, but the boot screen still shows it as the 8160L -- but at least I don't get the error message about trying to install ROM on wrong device
(ii) before attempting installation, downloading the latest ROM, unzipping the ROM using 7zip, deleting "tee" folder
-- and pasting tee folder from the stock JB ROM installed on my phone
(iii) re-zipping the ROM using 7zip -- I notice I get a different MD5 to that llsted on the download page
(iv) attempting to flash the modified ROM in Recovery mode, but it aborts
Don't know enough to know if install procedure tries to validate the "to be installed" ROM's MD5 and aborts since it's different from that on the download page
Don't know what purpose of tee folder is -- is it to connect to local carrier?
How about if I try to install "unmodified" ROM (in its unmodified form) and once it's installed, if it does (?), replace the tee folder at that later stage, to check for ability to connect to carrier?
Do I need to unlock the SIM card first --- as that's also something I haven't done
(naturally, I've backed up and able to restore to what I had before attempting the install)

md5 sum change probably because you uncompressed and re-compressed file.
no you dont have to unlock carrier.
use total commander and delete first 3 lines in updater-script.(all before mount.. bahblablah) and then compress it, then try.
btw it doesnt show any status errors?

MANY MANY thanks for your very prompt reply, and further information
"status errors" -- as a result of ?? -- no status errors evident after rebooting with modfified Build.Prop
had lots of "fun" on my previous efforts with custom ROMs -- played with several on a Huawei G300 I had --
-- but, gee, this is an ongoing learning process -- now to learn about updater script !!!
(only learnt about Total Commander from your post - despite its high rating -- but note others have used other things for "text editing")
(but have discovered some TUTs on xda)
Reading more carefully through the posts I see it may be possible to flash the ROM, and then later, substitute the tee folder supplied in the Maclaw ROM with the stock JB one -- right?
I'll definitely learn more about updater-script, but I'll try to flash the ROM again without modifying the ROM === OK?

-Dont care about ro.build.model. once assert is deleted you dont have to change it. And its not mandatory.
-I recommended total commander just because its the only root browser i have that shows the assert in 3 lines exactly. Unless es etc. You can also use other editors ^.^
-like when installation is aborted, it says status 7(or 0 etc)

Many thanks!! KK installed -- that was the "fascinating" thing -- no status errors on previous failed attempt at installation -- nothing
but now it's installed -- with GApps added, and now to "worry" about the rest of it all
unsurprisingly -- if tee does what I think it does -- but I can't find a TUT on that anywhere
-- so currently, I can't connect to my local carrier, so it's currently not a :"phone" as such
even more frustratingly, computer found phone when it was first plugged in, but now seems to have lost it!! time to reboot system
-- and, it's been a while since I used CM but I can't find extsdcard!!

[Q] Zip flashing problems

Hi all,
I'm trying to replace the font on bubor's CM11 ROM by means of flashing one on of the ZIPs available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-fontster-betas-flashable-font-packs-t2513985
I am using bubor's TWRP v2.7.1.
The problem I first encountered when trying to flash a font was the error message "Error executing updater binary" and thus the flashing "Failed". Based on the advice at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290009 , I figured it would probably be a good idea to replace the update-binary with the one found in my ROM's ZIP, so I did that.
However, the ZIP still doesn't flash. Although I no longer get the "Error executing updater binary" message, now TWRP simply tells me "Error flashing zip" without offering me any explanation.
Please can you help with this, and apologies for the noob question. I have tried installing the ZIP from both internal and external SD. My SD's are swapped - could that have something to do with it?

- downlaoded http://dualhoki.vim.hu/bubor/dev/keyboard-light.zip
- replace update-binary ( copy from keyboard-light.zip)
- install
no error.
Would you be more detailed what did you use with what, please.

I'm sorry for not being detailed enough.
I tried following your steps but unfortunately the flashing still failed. I eventually got it to work after a combination of actions, but I think the most crucial one was changing the write permissions of the \system\fonts folder from "drwxr-xr-x" to "drwxrwxrwx".
Thanks for your efforts in any case, I really appreciate all the work you're doing.

{LineageOS 14.1} Update failing

I am running lineageos-nightly-20170706 on my OnePlus 3 - I've tried to update it using both lineageos-nightly-20170803 and lineageos-nightly-20170810 - both give the same error when TWRP tries to install the file:
assert failed: op3.verify_modem('2017-06-27 21:43:31== "1"
updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '/data/data/org.lineageos.updater/app_updates/lineage-14.1-20170810-nightly-oneplus3-signed.zip'
I did a full wipe and flash installing this, but I don't want to lose all the config work I've done if I don't have to - so I wanted to try updating this time. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? I download it, then choose Install - it reboots the pphone to TWRP (3.0.4-1), I click Install, then Up a Level so I can find the file in /data/data/org.lineagos.updater/app_updates, select the zip file, and swipe to install it.
Thanks,
Brian

Well, your firmware is outdated, you need to update it.
This should help you out:

I flashed this one in recovery 4.1.6 Firmware + Modem, and then i flashed the full zip of the lineage update.
