ICS Metamorph theme for the HTC dream - G1 Themes and Wallpapers

It is still in beta, but it has the HOLO buttons and text fields for the most part, and the black statusbar, feel free to modify it and re-post it on this thread so that I can incorporate any suggestions you may have!

Just realized that the file is invalid, I'm working on recovering it as we speak.

Here, it should work now, just open metamorph and select unzip/extract new theme and select ICS_theme_2 from wherever you saved it to.

Don't forget to click "Thanks"!

1. Unzip the theme to a folder in your sd card
2. Go to market and install the metamorph app.
3. Use View attachment UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta5.apk to root your phone if you are not root already, or my advice-if you have the time for it-is to install a custom rom.
4. Enable USB debugging in settings-applications-development.
5. Open the metamorph app that you installed earlier.
6. Tap "pick existing theme"
7. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped the theme to, and then select the "ICS_theme_1.0.xml" file to let metamorph know how to use the theme.
8. Follow the prompts and when it reboots, just let it, as it needs to reboot to edit system files, much like chkdsk on windows.
9. Enjoy! This theme has a black statusbar and holo buttons much like the ones in ICS -correction- they are the original buttons, taken directly from the source! Give me feedback if you think there is anything missing
P.S. I am working on a video tutorial on how to install cyanogenmod, so if you are having trouble rooting your phone, then it will hopefully help.

Hey dude, I was rooted already running an gingerbread build, the launcher that comes with the rom was launcher2, just wanna ask if your ICS theme could also be use on that rom. thanks in advance.

It will likely work on almost any ROM, but some elements might not be themed, best of luck!:fingers-crossed:

Your right

Yeah bro, I tried it but nothing change, I used the metamorph.apk from market and followed what you have said, but I think its not suitable for the rom I'm using.
But thanks for the help you given me... :good:

you might need to adjust the reboot timeout in metamorph settings, so that it doesn't reboot in the middle of the operation.

You might try ninjamorph, but no promises. What ROM are you using? If you want, I can email you a copy of the one I know it works for.

now on cm 6.1 stable

hello bro, sorry for the late reply, recently I tried it on EzGingerBread but it failed when I apply it nothing happen but now I'm on CM 6.1stable (I don't want gingerbread builds I find them so slow on my phone) thanks in advance.

That's funny, I just moved to ezgingerbread. I'm not actually finding it that slow with the ram hack. I literally flashed it about 15 minutes ago, and this was sent using it. By the way, I found that It only really worked for the rom i had included the name of in the xml file. I'm working on bringing holo to gingerbread as we speak though....

new rom for me too

Oh, you just flashed ezginger while me I also flashed a few moments ago this new rom I newly discovered also a froyo rom its pre-themed ICS rom named froyo cream sandwich I forgot who post this but its nice superb, Im now testing it.

Send me a link, that sounds awesome! However, is it compatible with the ezterry ram hack?

Yes it is, its themed by darinx (probably butchered his name) there are two ROMs actually, one based off froyo by Laszlo and one of dream team froyo, two of the better froyo builds for the dream
Check the dev threads and youll find it within the first few pages
Also andisa (probably butchered his name too) made a great ICS theamed version of ezgingerbread that all includes some additional tweeks, I don't believe he ever created an xda thread but I can find you the link if your interested

If you could post the link to the ezgingerbread version, that would be excellent. I'm not quite ready to give up gingerbread, as it is working great even with live wallpapers.

Just want to ask what was the things you did to make G1 still great even with live wallpapers under the gingerbread version?? heheh,,,thanks in advance,,,

what I did to speed it up was remove some apps that were running in the background, such as dialer, which was taking up a solid 7mb of ram all the time. I now have a pretty consistent 42mb of ram while at my launcher, adw ex. While it won't beat any phone at a benchmark, it will run quite smoothly while flipping between launcher pages. Try using swap and a task killer, I am using smart ram booster and have the widget situated over the clock on the statusbar for whenever I want a quick boost in speed.

Change theme of Android build on Diamond?

Hi all
I have recently installed Android on my Diamond, and is the Android built by Cyanogen.
I wonder is it possible to change the original theme please?
I have read some threads, and seems like changes themes in ordinary Android phones require rooting.
So does the same apply to our Android on Diamond please>?
Many thanks
I tried to apply simplistic 1.1 using superfroyo rc2
But the themes requires cyanogen 6 and so caused the phone app to crash each second and i wasn't able to press reboot and apply theme button in metamorph
Maybe the problem was because I didn't used cyanogen

haven't tried it yet...since I am using SuperFroyo now, and I have installed quite a lot of apps, so need to find a way to back them up first.
By the way, have you read this site ever? Think he is one of the guy who creates the themes.
http://ultralinx.blogspot.com/
And what I am trying to say is, what he has done is in fact using different wallpaers and widget on desktop, like SwitchPro, BattStatt, Genie Widget,, etc, and the dock bar, he is simply using MnmlText, which you can find a similar one called SimplyText, and I guess u can download this simplytext for free, and change the icons on dock in LaucherPro preference.
So all I am trying to say is, we can still generate the same appearance with little bit effort, like change colors, wallpaper and icons manually.
(My opinion only, surely the guy might have put a lot effort on the theme.)

[THEME] For any ROM. Yup, any single ROM.

So if your like me and like to change the theme's of your phone this is literally the website to do it!
uot.dakra.lt/kitchen <---- Copy/Paste that in your address bar.
It's a theme kitchen and it works on any phone, any ROM, and any version of Android (2.2 , 2.3)
-----------
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. I'm not at fault here, they even have a Youtube video on how to do it.
Sorry guys, let me lay things straight before confusion and cyber authority kick in, I DID NOT CREATE THIS KITCHEN. I give ALL credit to the person who put their life into it, please donate to them.
I just saw this on the internet and wanted to share with the XDA family!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay guys, some of you are having trouble with the kitchen, I'll just break down the instructions:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Whatever ROM your CURRENTLY using, open it and find the Framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
{Remember, it'll only work with your current ROM, flashing it to another ROM will send you in a never ending boot, because I've done that, anyways, if you change ROMS, you need to re-cook the whole theme with your new current ROM's APK's}
2. Choose your selections, generate previews and what not
Froyo ROMS do not support transparent ANYTHING so do not select it. If your on a Gingerbread ROM then your good and you can check 'enable transparency in status bar' in the Status Bar section
3. Upload your APK's in correct order in the 'File Upload' category
4. As soon as step 3 has been performed, go to 'Summary' and hit 'Submit to Kitchen' If a category is red simply go back and generate the preview
5. If you get an error log in the 'Pickup' page, I don't know what happens so sadly you have to go re-cook your ROM again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guys this should work like a charm with little to no trouble, I'm young and did this with a breeze.
Happy Theme-ing everybody!
Screen shots please =]

Great find and thanks for sharing it in the G2 community, best way to theme a rom with your own personal preferences.
I gave this a try, seems easy & straightforward to use. However, do you have to make a donation in order to submit your created theme to that kitchen?

Will this work with stock rom.
@cubanito151 If you follow the instructions carefully it will.
It works on all roms.
Anyone else having issues with the mods sticking? I only did the battery icon mod and it worked at first but now its gone and back to the stock look.
This is pretty lame that its not sticking and reverts back to the old battery icon.

CWM is a custom recovery image that you can use to 'Flash' roms/themes/mods etc. Check out the dev section for a howto and more info. Awesome theme btw, it's got the stock look but with a much more refined feel, great work
Forgive me for this, i did search but in my experience forum searches somehow miss out what im looking for, can I just install clockworkmod through rom manager or is it more complicated than that? Im on rooted stock ke7 so I understand I'd need a deodexed rom such as lightening rom before I did this, although I don't know what deodexed means lol
Awesome! I love the whole look and feel of it. Amazing, keep on the good work and for all your Launcher Pro / ADW users, you really have to try this Go Launcher EX. It has the same customisation. However the screen transistions are a lot smoother!
Just what ive been waiting for, lol this will be the reason i actually bother to flash a custom rom.

Clockwork is installed via Chainfires kernel for KE7 or KE2 roms, flash this for clockwork mod but if you want to use this theme first flash Villainrom and deodexed just means the rom can be themed really.
Hi together, I'm new on this forum and I have a question about this theme. Do I need to root my phone or not. If yes, then where can I find some theme without rooting my phone, because I dont want to lose my warranty! And sry for my bad english!

Didn't work for me on Lightening 1.1, everything force close and the phone wouldn't respond. All is well though as I have just flashed VillainRom and flashed this theme as well, this theme is exactly my style. Not all flashy and glowy. Its perfect! Thanks.

Use this kernel and it should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
But I dont get it.. Installed Villain 1.1 and still no luck.
The lockscreen is all messed up. I have the pattern lock and the dots are not within the circels but outside. Also Im not getting the awesome lockscreen you have.
I do and did have widgetlocker installed, but even if i disable or delete it Im not getting the lockscreen.
After flashing the zip i still have the touchwiz interface. Only thing that changed is messing up my pattern lock and changing the battery icon etc.
Also the messages are still rounded and not sqare as shown.
Or should I install your modified Go Launcher to get the phone like shown on the pictures in first post?
Could you please make a step by step how-to?

- Some icons updated
Great Job. Can you please change network, Data and Wifi notifications to blue color like battery color (so all notifications will be consistent).
Thanks again.

[THEME CRISKELO] DeepBlue Theme for Criskelo SGS3 V5.x

Hello,
Yet again, I have upgraded my primary phone. This time, to the SGS3.
You may know my work from previous Galaxy models, for example DeepBlue Themes was popular for SGS, then for SGS2, or your wife or girlfriend may know DeepPurple Themes for those phone models.
So, here is my latest work for SGS3, DeepBlue Theme. It is in early stages, but there are no graphical artifacts in it, so whole GUI looks unified and polished.
Take a look on the screenshots, which are attached to this post. You should see their thumbnails.
As allways, I have added ICQ 5.1 smilies to the SMS and Talk apps, changed notification area icons, and changed pulldown menu. I have also modified Google Play Store, so it uses unified notification icons for update info, or for download.
You may notice that I have not only changed signal and notification icons, but I have also fixed their position, relativelly to it's network type. Just check original look of the Criskelo's ROM 5.2, and you will see it.
It is not heavy theme, as you can see. Most of the work was Criskelo's, because I have modified his own work - Criskelo's ROM 5.2.
As you may know, I love Criskelo's ROMs from SGS, over SGS2 to the latest SGS3, because he targets usability and responsivity. So by this statement, I want to thank him.
Installation is simple as allways...just download to your SDCard, make sure you have Criskelo's ROM 5.x, reboot to CWM, and install. No dalvik wipe is needed (if you are using original Criskelo's ROM). Make backup first!
If you'll find any issue, just let me know, so I can fix it.
Download:
DeepBlue Theme v0.12 for SGS III - for Criskelo's ROM v5.2
DeepBlue Theme v0.2 for SGS III - for Criskelo's ROM v5.4
DeepBlue Theme v0.3 for SGS III - for Criskelo's ROM v5.4
If you like this theme, please click Thanks button.
DeepBlue Theme v0.2/0.3 is slightly bigger, because it contains changes for Phone, Callendar, and so on... It is possible that you may have issues installing, for example ZIP installs fine, but new theme nowhere...Just let me know if this happens. It is problem of no free space left on the /system/ partition, which can be easily solved.
Thanks for your work and your sharing ! :good:

I don't propose anything. I am just saying, that if someone want to help with it, I can do anything to help. Nothing more. I have modified whole ROM package for myself only, leaving everything as it was, with only notice in the install log, that I've create the theme, with link to original thread...but this package is not public, it was not uploaded anywhere. As said before, it is here on my local hard drive, because I am working with it (playing with colors, tunning prop files, and such). That is nothing ilegal, and if I'll upload it somewhere, it will not be original ROM anymore...I've made own ROMs previously, so it is not so big deal.
And yes, everytime I've published (even modified) version of someone's work, I have asked first...just check one or two years old threads...
So you do not need to worry.

Well, my notice regarding full package was meant as "user: hey, your theme is not working, it is boot-looping" - me: "Well, pack the zip again with this apk in it, I have just forgot to add it" - simply that I have sources from which I can take needed parts to help users apply the theme... but I have minor problems with english, expressing exactly what I mean...sorry 'bout that.

Well, I suppose that it will be really easy for you to mod it. For example, once Criskelo modify ROM that way, you'll be able to copy one xml file from his framework to mine theme's apk, and you are done.
Could you please update the theme to be compatible with v5.3? I am not a fan of the default look! Love the ROM otherwise.

To say the truth, I HATE default look...not only Criskelo's ROM's, but also default Android look I will theme upcomming 5.4 once it's out There is no reason to theme 5.3, when it will be obsolete so soon.
EDIT: Theme version 0.2 for Criskelo's v5.4 is already uploaded, and link in the first post added. Enjoy.

You have to download proper Criskelo's ROM 5.4, and flash it. Then you'll flash this theme, and you are done.
For Widgets:
- Beautiful Home Widgets
PhoneInfo
SystemInfo
BatteryWidget
PhoneUsage
Contact Widget (Sagrebin)
ScrollableNews Widget
Launcher:
Go LauncherEx
Go LauncherEx Notifications
Others are just icons, wallpapers, and such...easy to search and download, or create own. Because fully modded ROM was forbidden after discussion with Criskelo's team, I can share only official ROM package, and then you'll be able to download and flash this ROM, if you wish..

[APP][CYANOGEN MOD] File Manager!!! :D

The CyanogenMod team has been making good progress towards the latest, stable version of its ROM - CyanogenMod 10 - but there's still time for more features to be added before its eventual release.
One of those features is a root-enabled file manager, which was announced on the Cyanogen Google+ page a few hours ago. Judging from the screenshots, it looks to blend in seamlessly with other CyanogenMod features and the rest of the Android OS, with a really nice looking interface. (Screenshots Below)
When you're browsing through your files, you will be able to choose between three access modes: Safe mode, Prompt User mode and Root Access mode. As you'd expect, it will allow you to view files on your internal storage device as well
you can get the apk here:

Simply copy to system/app and set permissions to rw-r--r--

edit:
Well, the root acess isn't working here, the app FC when choose the root acess mode or the prompt user mode =/
Doesn't work properly for me on wanam...
Very slow loading folders, only landscape, navigate only the sdcard.
Shame cause is very neat.

No problem with root access and run quite smoothly, but I can't enter root folder..
And it's darn white, cm team needs to black or gray theme it..reverting to good old "root explorer".

+1 for root directory
there's no option for that
Got "Install failed" on Vision with CM10 unofficial. My ROM was forked from CM10 nightlies at 2012-10-30, did something related to filemanager change from that moment?
Thanks mate...

you should install this as a system app,
you can use Root Explorer for that,
in this directory "system / apps" and set correct permissions and reboot
cheers

Hey mate, not sure of your association with Cyanogen (so I maybe shooting my mouth off too soon?) but I know you have stated courtesy of Android police, but I was just wondering if you have asked someone from the Cyan team if it is ok to post this up?
They put a lot of hard work into their apps and customisations, and I know that one of their team had made mention in a post the other day that they were starting to get tired of people just automatically assuming that it's ok to post up/reproduce/hack/kang or "claim as their own" the work of the cyanogenmod team without any courtesy to contact anyone in the team and ask first?
It's like they have been labelled like a vendor and acknowledgements becoming null and void cause of 'who they are' and that people going as minimal of just stating their sources like that is enough? I mean I could be wrong in this instance, and I am only relaying the expressions of one of their team, but it maybe worth while just flicking someone a quick PM first as courtesy and second as appreciation maybe?

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I know your right, but at the very least someone could write a script and put it in a CWM script.
Just for information sake that if you place an app in system/app that a reboot is going to be necessary anyway, and that fix permissions can be performed in recovery that will enable the correct permissions for the app anyway.
From a personal perspective, and as far as I know....most cyanogen mod apps can be installed to the phone as signatures won't clash. If it does install as a user app (as i would expect) then there is no real need to put the app in system. Why bother? RootExplorer and RootBrowser are non factory file browsers and they do not require to be installed in system/app?
Just sayin

Oh sorry to clarify and further to what I have posted above. The reason that this app probably doesn't work so well on Touchwiz ROMs like Wanams is because the app is in system and the framework is attempting to disable it because it's signatures don't match. Another reason to try installing as a normal app first.
