[Q] I have an ATT Maguro. Will it run on T-Mobile - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Will there be any issue using a T-Mobile SIM on my ATT Maguro (purchased directly from Google)? Will there be any limitations speec/radio wise, assuming that there is T-Mobile coverage whereever?

1) its not a ATT branded galaxy nexus.
2) pentaband phone so yes it will work.

There never was such a thing as an AT&T nexus

will this work on verizon lte

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...l-core-/200739106754?_trksid=p1468660.m200036 it is a good price IMO, but the description says it is 3g. Will it work, or will I screw myself by buying it.
That's a GSM model. Considering it says "unlocked" and "GSM" in the description...
i9250 will NOT work on Verizon. You need i515.

GSM Model was released overseas about a month before VZ's cdma.
Must be trolling.

The GSM model is "plummeting" worldwide. Phones get cheap 4+ months after they're for sale. Not a huge demand for it either honestly.

JB 4.2.2 Waiting Room

Here in Israel both nine and my wife's 4.2.1 stock, unlocked& rooted GNEX still waiting for the OTA. This time i have decided to wait for the OTA and not force it via GSF cache clearing.
please post your location and status
OTA's aren't distributed by location, so this thread is a waste of time.
If you have an unlocked device, sideload the OTA .zip and you're done.
Unless you're on Verizon/Sprint which I doubt!

No, it's GSM model.
i have decided not to force the mobile to get the OTA, but to wait as "average Joe" for the OTA to pop up.
you can treat this thread as a poll.
how is the distribution is manged? is it by S/N? or IMEI?
Wait for about 6days and still not get the OTA notification. At last use the GSF trick.

I get the feeling this thread is now full of nothing but people like me who own either a Verizon or Sprint model. haha

I think you are mostly right. I'd guess less Sprint folks, as they were at least brought up to 4.2.1 recently. Verizon likely didn't even consider that possibility.

I have the unlocked GSM model purchased from the play store and haven't gotten the update yet. Tried clearing the data on google framework services-still nothing....Galaxy Nexus Takju....
If I sideload the update, will it reset my device? Will it delete my apps and pictures?
Thanks.
Just got it 5 min ago...lol I guess sometimes it does take a couple extra days for it to get pushed to everyone...
So I have the sprint model.
Does this mean I'm not getting it?
Or just that there's no ETA at this point?

All he's saying is basically to move to one of the GSM carriers. In the United States, that would mean AT&T or T-Mobile. Having a GSM carrier means that you can buy your Nexus from the Google Play store, pop a SIM card in from the GSM carrier of your choice, and it just works. Their plans are usually less money (though AT&T is more expensive than Sprint, I think), and plus your phone will actually work outside North America. The GSM Nexus phones work on just about any GSM network anywhere in the world.

So... How do you initially get the GSM carrier? Do you get the carrier or the phone first?
And what you're saying is AT&T and T-Moile are GSM
And Sprint and Verizon are CDMA
Right?
I'm probably going to T-Mobile when my contract is over. Which isn't for a long while unfortunately.
Days after my Nexus 7 got the OTA, I decided to manually fastboot update my Galaxy Nexus.
Doesn't fix the bluetooth tethering issue -.-
No more Samsung abandonware for future purchases...
Hi I'm in the UK with GSM Yakju version on stock 4.2.1 and still haven't received the OTA. I have a Nexus 10 which I got earlier this month and its already on 4.2.2. Just hope my device isn't faulty or something. Anyone in the UK with the same version as mine already running the latest update?

This is incorrect. Verizon uses CDMA and ATT uses GSM. The phones are not compatible.

but you can actually change from GSM to CDMA from your *#197328640# (stock 4.1.1) but not sure if that'd work
but for the most cases, reason to unlock AT&T S3 is to use it for T-Mobile ;p

^ this. Flashing any Verizon modems, ROMs, ect can lead to a paperweight. The phone has different hardware that allows it to operate on a GSM network and will not allow it to run on a CDMA network. You would have to get a Verizon phone to work on Verizon or go to a different network. T-Mobile for instance accepts att sim cards (with reduced functionality due to different frequencies, but at least you can still use the phone)

Straight Talk now offering Sammy S3 4G/LTE ???

I wonder if the APN settings will work on our phones whenever someone gets one and posts the settings.

I'm interested in this too!! Just bought an at&t version gs3 brand new a month ago for $250.00. I have since unlocked, rooted, and rom'd. Had to trim down my sim but everything works great, obviously no LTE though.

What network does it run on? CDMA based or GSM? If its CDMA I wonder if its Sprint over verizon and T-Mobile probably if GSM.

Do you know what are the APN settings on it and is LTE true or just H+? As I have an i747.
Edit: Everything I read online says that it is a CDMA model, Sprint supported at that, not Verizon. You sure you just didn't get sold a i747 model? lol

Looks to me that the ST GS3 (SCH-S960L) is CDMA... I'm guessing it's Sprint since their other mvno's(boost & virgin) are getting LTE phones.

FYI: DMF1977 clearly stated above the phone purchased was an AT&T i797 GS3 not the new Straight Talk version.

Sprint HTC 10 on T-Mobile

Hey all,
I just picked up an unlocked HTC 10 to upgrade from my Nexus 5. Completely loving the phone and wanting to get one for my brother as a gift. That said, I've seen the Sprint version on sale locally through Craigslist for cheap. Does anyone know if the Spring version will work on T-Mobile?
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app
It will not, sprint has a weird baseband thing where only sprint phones work with sprint and no other carrier. Sorry!
I don't mean to necro this thread too much but I was wondering if having S-Off would overcome this or is it a hardware thing?

Sprint hardware code is WHL when unlocked model is WL..
See below how the LTE band support varies between them..

Yes it will. I actually tried this. There is a guide to unlock the sim on the sprint subforum. I followed that guide, popped in a sprint sim and changed the radio mode and It worked
