[ROM] [LS970] [4.3] [cfX-Toolchain 4.8.y+] codefireXperiment Nightlies [OFFICIAL] - Sprint LG Optimus G

Hey everyone, got another official rom for you guys.
I've been building for a few weeks now, all running pretty smoothly on the AT&T variant. Hit me up if you guys find any issues with the Sprint build. I don't have one myself, so I am unable to test.Official CM based, so e975 kernel.
Check it out here: http://codefirex.com/index.php?p=/discussion/258/rom-ls970-4-3-cfx-toolchain-4-8-y-codefirexperiment-nightlies

The good news: Data and GPS seem to work right off the bat, across reboots.
The bad news: It seems that I can't send texts. Also, the signal icon in the statusbar never shows any bars (though it does show the 3G icon). It appears as if I have a dead signal 100% of the time, even though I'm able to browse the internet (albeit very slowly) and make calls.

Thanks for your work!

I got an MMS but no SMS would go through.
But I love AOSP mode

I have weird connection problems with this ROM as well. It always boots up with the wrong phone number so I can't use any cell radio related functions. I sent some logs to Synergye but not sure if they helped.

I'll take a look at the issue this week / weekend. It's probably some stupid mistake, and I should have it fixed soon, I am just not familiar with CDMA at all yet, and don't have a device to test with myself.

Out of curiosity, I just compared sources between CM and cfXe and not really sure what I was looking for, I removed one line from the cfXe sources, built it, and boom, everything is now working:
device/lge/ls970-common/ls970-common.mk
remove line 187, ro.telephony.ril_class=LgeLteRIL \
I'm not entirely sure of the consequences, but I was getting 3G and 4G, and SMS and MMS were sending both over 3G and Wifi. Also, I noticed a dead touch area on the screen, not sure if it is my device only, but the easiest way to get there is to go to settings, and then try to click on bluetooth.
edit: looks like I have a busted digitizer

Anyone mind testing out this build? It looks like it is not quite there from my side, but I figured I may as well have someone test it out to be sure. The issue is that it is using the GSM ril instead of the ls970 specific CDMA ril. If this does not work, I should be able to get another one out real soon that does fix the issue.

EDIT: the link is messed up, as you wrote it....there's an extra http://. Just thought I'd let you know. But i'm downloading now.
EDIT2: god f****** damn the new TWRP, giving me the option to wipe internal storage.... I knew this would happen eventually. Ughhhhhhh.

First things first. Upon initial setup, the first thing that it asks you to do is to insert the device's SIM card. Obviously that doesn't apply to us CDMA folks. It allows you to skip this step, so I did. after a few seconds the phone connected to sprint and 3G data appears to be working. Signal bars are working. I was able to sign in to my google account. I haven't rebooted because I can't test much right now, but the basics seem to be working on initial boot. Can't test GPS right now. Also can't test SMS right now, apologies.

Testing this build out myself since I also have nothing to do. So far, everything is extremely fast, fluid, and stable! Have working data and everything (But then again, I'm one of the few lucky ones who never had any problems with data ). Gonna test out MMS soon. Only real problem I have with 4.3 AOSP ROMs really is the SMS issue where texts don't send over 160 characters. But I flashed the 4.2.2 messaging apparently, which usually fixes that. So far so good, though! I'm really digging it.

From what I can tell, that "fixed" data, but is still not quite correct. It is most likely just using a generic ril, and not the CDMA RIL that it is supposed to. I am going to do another test build real quick here, then hopefully push the fix before the next nightlies run.
EDIT:
Can someone test out this real quick? I am almost positive this should fix the issue, but I just want to be sure before I push.

[ROM] TEST! infinity2 Nexus S 4G Early Dev stage (19/6/11)

I need testers for an early build of infinity2 for the Nexus S 4G it is highly likely it WILL NOT, and is currently basically a stock AOSP rom with Netarchy and SU, busybox etc.
I need feedback on whether this boots, installs on your Nexus S. I do not expect it to, and if it does, there will probably be something missing. Please help me with this, as I really need testers otherwise I can't release this myself.
Download here: http://build.jonathongrigg.com/infinity_crespo4g-ota-eng.jonathongrigg.zip
Make a backup before flashing, this is Alpha level stuff!

Eventually this will become the official infinity thread for the Nexus S 4G as well, so please keep it clean

Thankyou, haven't applied CDMA stuff yet (Wimax too)
Edit: building with Wimax apk and settings, still needs other stuff for correct working but I want to see if this caused it. Also allows download of any file type (thanks to eddieringle).
New download up at the same URL, please download again
Making a backup now, will install and report back as soon as backup is finished.
Update: Boots, no service and get an error when trying to turn on wifi.
Anything else you want tested before I go back?

Yep, I am right for testers at the moment, I haven't changed anything and these issues need to be sorted out first.
I do have some help now though from mikeyinid so hopefully these can be sorted relatively quickly!

deck'd out Nexus S 4G
Keep the thread updated and I will flash it whenever you need a tester. You could even send me a PM to let me know you have a new compile that way you are not waiting around for someone to test. If I'm at work I will test as soon as I get home(about 3PM est USA time).
Please test this new version, should have a working 4g vendor (thanks mikeyinid) also, LWP and default wallpapers should be included as well.

Booted for me, connected to Sprint, connected to Google Servers, connected to wifi. No 4G in my city yet so I can't test that but everything else seems to be working. Gmail, Market and other Gapps are working. What are your plans with this? Like I have said I will continue to test when needed. Right now it seems like stock Rom rooted. I do like your boot screen animation though.
I downloaded to my phone, may have been bad.

But no issues on boot or connections for me.
Weird I just downloaded to my phone again and it still won't boot. A tree took out my cable last night so won't have real internet til later on.
But, I'm glad everything seems to be in working order. Did you guys check to see if 4g or sprint settings fc?

Persistent ICS Bug List

I know there are threads for each release but I thought it might be a good idea to list the ones still out there in one place.
These are for the Samsung leaks only, not CM9 or AOKP.
As of FC18:
Exchange contacts/calendar??
That's it?!
As of FC07:
GPS
Cell location (works but eventually craps out. Reboot fixes)
Signal bars
Notification vib+sound
Exchange
Post others I may be forgetting and I will update OP.

Is it weird I won't permaswitch to ICS until vib+sound is worked out? lmao. That was the killer for me, of all things.
What is wrong with Exchange? I sync to my work exchange server just fine.
I'm not sure if it's just the ROM or ICS but on both AOKP and CM9 I've had it happen that if I'm in a area with very poor signal, it'll go to airplane mode on it's own. The plane doesn't show in the status bar when it happens so I'll have to check it often to make sure it isn't on since the signal bars obviously have their own bug as well.

Exchange is all I need. Could you elaborate on what doesn't work. Also GPS and cell location are important as getting through LA is a constant battle during traffic times.... I drive all around Southern Cal for my job (paid for travel time but if I don't have to sit on a dead freeway, why waste my time).
I can't make the switch until I know these work 100%.

You can GPS to work by flashing back to GB, get lock, then flash back. But it is still a little wonky and doesn't work out of the box so on the list it goes.

FC07 GPS worked out of the box fine for me and many people for the first time. I have a feeling some of the people without GPS didnt do full reset or are on the list of people with hardware defects. Seems to still not be working for other people that have a clue so its hard to say.
FC07 still does have GPS related issues like it wont stop searching for a lock if it begins and you end up in an area that GPS would never work in the first place. So its still valid that there are GPS issues for sure.

+1, i haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with exchange
Sound notifications, especially sms stops randomly.
A reboot then fixes it.
Strange
From what I've gathered from a variety of threads, the Exchange issue depends on the version of Exchange and relates to the Exchange function that allows it to remotely manage your device.
Those of us on newer versions of Exchange (I'm on 2010) can't sync calendar or contacts on ANY of the Samsung ICS leaks. I have to replace the email and exchange apks with AOSP to get it to work. Otherwise I'm SOL.
So to be clear, there is DEFINITELY an Exchange problem, even if you're not experiencing it. But it's apparently specific to certain setups, and enough of us on this board have that setup that it's a serious problem.

Desire Z on WIND Mobile (which radio version)

Has anyone figured out which radio version works best with WIND Mobile in Canada?
My phone seems to randomly lose data connection. To get data back, I turn mobile data off then on again. It happens so frequently, I have it in my Notification window as a toggle.
I have Automatcher v7 to match RIL with radio version. I also have wipe EFS.
Thanks,

Use latest Radio from T-Mobile 26.13.04.19_M, I'm on it, have never lost 3.5 G data connection
I am currently running ILWT but experienced the same running CM 7, ICS Audacity and ICS Quattro.

Update
I don't think it is the network. My father's Amaze does not have this problem in the same places.
ILWT has been the most reliable ROM for me so far. I am currently running Andromadus b4 and am considering switching back because of the data drop-out issue. I have tried 5 different radio versions now.
It must be the ROM. Perhaps it encounters some data it can't make sense of and crashes. Perhaps it just needs to restart itself when this happens. A simple mobile data off, mobile data on fixes it almost every time.
I also find the bars reading incorrect. I be driving down the road with my screen on and the charger plugged in, and it will show me full bars. I can pull over and park for a few minutes, bars still full. Then suddenly half bars, no bars. This behavior is from a device that isn't being physically surrounded / shielded and is stationary.
Anyways, my G2 is getting old and it needs a another core to keep up with the way I now use it. I will wait for Jelly Bean but will likely switch to IOS.
Reasons If You Care
The menu button disaster is a big one for me. Also the lack of quick updates from Google for Nexus S and Nexus One. These devices should have had OS updates released on the same day the Galaxy Nexus was released.
ICS should have been backwards compatible for older devices as well. A few #ifdef in the code for fancy screen rendering and such. Big, huge fail!
Google, also, should have required no physical menu button for access to Google apps to enforce the new way. With only like 7% ICS market share no wonder app devs write for GB.
Google's handling of Android updates has opened my eyes.

The issue isn't ICS. The issue is the vendors haven't released proper drivers for ICS. What we're dealing with is code we've hacked up to make things work. If the vendors released ICS source code for our devices things would be much more stable.
We're always working within our means. It's not Android/Google's fault and it's not an ICS issue, it's just circumstance.
Thanks
I realize where most of the issues lie. I am an EE grad so I can imagine how difficult hacking ROMs together without device drivers might be.
Writing ASM for a microproc with the datasheets is bad enough. Without knowing what each control register is for and what each bit controls, it is a guessing game at best. I get that.
I very much do appreciate your work. As you are aware, from reading my post, I run a ROM you contribute to. Thank you. You have prolonged the life / pleasure balance I require from my smartphone.
I would contribute more to the development, but my post count was less than 10. I was actually working towards my 10 posts today to post in the dev forums. (The Andromadus beta 4 thread to be more precise).

I have the same issues, G2 on Wind as well. I've had some ROMs where it never occured, but then they had some kind of bug that left me unhappy. I'm currently on CM 7.2 RC1, and I keep a "data" toggle in my notification bar. When it drops I toggle it off and on and it connects again pretty quickly. Until about twelve months ago, MMS was unreliable, but I don't seem to have problems with that anymore.
In general I'm not happy with Android, but as the alternatives are all utterly closed systems I guess I'm stuck with it. It would be unbearable if it weren't for the hard work of all the developers around this forum. Thanks, developers
Agreed. Google has been a huge let down for me as well. Updates are slow or non existent in Canada (even on Nexus devices). Look at the percentage of devices that run ICS. JB is what ICS was supposed to be. I may get an iPhone for work. I am excited to compare it to my Samsung S3 on CM10.

[Q] text messages send fail after OTA

***If your having similar issues, please call sprint to make them aware of the issue.****
Anyways, can any one help me. I updated to jelly bean OTA, and since then my LGOG does not like to send text messages out. My phone will not send messages shorter than 10-20 characters. Im in the CHICAGO area. No problem receiving them, just more often then not i get a failed sent. I have tried resetting the phone hard/soft. I took my phone into sprint and they said I need a new phone. Wtf! Anyone have this issue, or have any ideas to resolve this?
Im pretty disapointed right now, the phone was flawless before the update! Never had a single problem before. Thanks in advance.
UPDATE.. In conclusion,if anyone is interested, I believe the new jellybean update just doesn't play well with my towers in my area of Chicago. With the jelly bean update my voice signal was excellent, but the data signal was degraded. I always noticed, with ics while 4glte was connected, the voice signal was less. With jelly bean it seemed to be just the opposite at all times, great voice so so data connection. Only if i could have both and jellybean wtf?? Maybe someone could help me on here and explain a radio/jelly combo i would have best of both worlds.
Seems to be a Chicago issue.
**Either way I aquired LGNPST and original TOT file and reflashed the phone with original software and have not accepted the jellybean update for now.**
If you would like me to host the files needed PM me, I'll send you links.
I suposed I could have tried to reflash ZV9/ICS or ZV9 radios, but I bricked the phone before trying that.
I must have got the best phone out there. I've never had a problem with any software version we've had.

Rub it in why dont ya.... Well mine was the best android phone that i have owned. I never had a single issue before this.
I guess since i havent got any responses no one else has this issue. Is there anyway to reflash jellybean on my phone again?
Have you tried a ##72786# in the dialer? It will reprogram the phone. It won't erase anything.

I have not tried the ## but ill give it a shot. Sprint may have done that.
More on this issue, it seems just not to send short messages. Like lol, no, yes anything shorter than a sentence. I have noticed tht long texts send fine, and picture text seem lightning fast. Whch is great, but cant respond to someone with a simple yes or no. Wtf
I have also noticed a bigger delay between automatic switching between 3g and 4g. Before the update the switching was seamless.
I have also rooted and reflased the ota, same issue. I did not flash the radios seperate tho.
The ## did not fix my text issue. Sprint store did do this as well.
Still have this same issue anyone figure anything out? Anyone have anymore suggestions i can try? Sprint does something on their end, and restore the phone with ## and it works for an hour, then back to the same issue.
Peteyo, are you in Chicago? Maybe it's it's a network issue. I'm having the same problem and so is my buddy. I can't believe more people aren't coming forward with this if it's a national thing.
But let me know if you find a fix, and I'll do the same. And you're right, it only happens on short messages!
Im in Chicago and having the same issues, even with other messenger apps that use stock mms, I also use whats app and have no issues. They seem to be random some send and some don't. If there is a fix please post it is a pain .

I have chalked it up to LG sucking! or I supose it could be sprint. The JB update they pushed changes the way the phone communicates with the towers. I grabbed bits and pieces from other threads with data problems and came to that conclusion. It doesn't appear to make issues with everyone, or have the same problems.
What i did, and what maybe the easiest is to reflash the phone back to its original form out of the box. Also im not accepting the ZVB/jelly bean update that messed up our phones. To return to original state, u must aquire LGSNPT, and Sprint`s original tot file. You can find these two in the developer sections. Its really easy and painless and get you right back where u need to be. The toughest part is putting your phone into download mode. vol+ vol- and power buttons.
Make sure u back up your pictures/things you may want to keep.
Option 2 you can **** around and try to find an ICS file, root your phone, and flash it back to ics. Or better yet root and flash ZV9 radios.
However im not sure if these will work. I have not been able to find ZV9 radios.
Option 3 if you have insurance get a new reman phone, or if no insurance pay sprint 50bucks for a reman phone. But you will still have the same issue if you update to ZVB/jellybean.
I wish I new more about this stuff and make a custom radio that has the voice improvements from ZVB/Jellybean, and the data from ICS/ZV9. Probably not even possible.

I'm in the Chicago area and noticed the same thing...
The strange part of all of this is that my text messages will always send if they are greater than about 10 to 20 characters. Anything smaller than that amount will give me a send failure. Has anyone else had that experience?
Data and Cell Reception have been stellar for myself since the update -- I believe I was having the texting issues before OTA (though I wasn't rooted at that point)

That was my exact issue! I had to send complete sentences. WTF

Don't you feel a greater level of sophistication when you have to type an entire sentence?
I'm sure it's Sprint trying to cut down on their SMS costs, but I'm not a conspiracy theorist.
Funny! I guess I should have just added a bunch of quick messages that are complete sentences for a yes or no answers. And the lesser 4g reception does slow down my midget porn downloading. Maybe it really is a win win...

It has not been fixed yet, and I'm starting to believe it may never unless people start complaining more. I strongly encourage people to call sprint support often regarding this, if you would like to see it fixed. I have opened a couple cases with Sprint business support (corporate account here). If more people raise a stink, they have to do something!
Will do. Thanks for the quick reply:thumbup:
Btw.... You guys have one beast of a phone! Congrats:beer::thumbup:

[ROM][5.0.2][UNOFFICIAL]CM 12.0 - Nexus 9 LTE (3-18)

CM 12 FOR NEXUS 9 LTE
Hello fellow XDAers. This is the first time I have compiled any android build. I really only compiled it for myself because I did not see any CM12 for the Nexus 9 LTE. But I thought I would share it with you people. This thread is not going to be one of those fancy, decked out looking posts. To be straight to the point, I just compiled the Nexus 9 LTE code from github. I do not take ANY credit for any of the source, all though I will take credit for compiling it for you and bringing to you a fully functioning cm12 build for the nexus 9 LTE. Remember, as always, I am not responsible for any damage done to your device from using any of these files(Blah Blah). And now to the good part!
WARNING
If you flash this zip file and directly boot afterwards, it WILL encrypt your device if its not already encrypted. To prevent this, I have attached a non-encrypting boot.img that you need to fastboot flash directly after installing this zip file.

Get the latest build here. - 3-18-2015
**GAPPS** Check the lollipopalooza thread for aarch64 Gapps courtesy of craigacgomez here.
**NON-ENCRYPTING/PERMISSIVE BOOT.IMG** Download here.
Credit to the CM team as always for providing a great OS for our awesome tablets and phones.
Credit to @simonsickle for github repos
EDIT: As of atleast the 3-08 nightly for flounder, the OFFICIAL CM nightlies have LTE support built in. I do not know if this is an accident or what, but you no longer need to download LTE or WIFI specific ROMS. The roms contained at http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=flounder do in fact work with LTE/WIFI Nexus 9.
Sounds good! Have you thoroughly tested on your N9 LTE?
Is GPS working? This was always the problem with other ROMs I tried for the LTE
And what about charging and battery charge display? Other ROMs would charge slow, show 60% although fully charged and this kind of stuff.
A 100% working CM would be nice
Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply. Right now it appears that everything is working ok. But, like you said, it seems LTE goes in and out at random times. I am working on testing out everything and hoping other people may find out whats still buggy too. All though, I am not a dev so I probably would not be able to fix it =[. But i will post more information as it is discovered.
I'm all in for testing; very surprised cm 12 wasn't ready for this already when mine arrived last week. ?
Nice, thanks and ready for testing.
0309 flashed and booted just fine. Within a few minutes the 0310 update was available, same result. Except this time mobile data was available in the OS.
Will keep at it testing, great job ty!!!

Actually, if you updated to the 3-10 nightly, thats an official CM build. Which I have discovered LTE does in fact work in the nexus 9 build. And the build I posted on here (3-09) LTE worked for me, but it took a couple of reboots. Anyway, thank you for trying out my build!

I did not find any APN (etc) related settings in the 0309 build. So a few reboots later you were able to connect to your carrier?

To be quite honest Im not sure whats going on with my nexus 9. It seems no matter what rom Im running, sometimes LTE works and sometimes it doesnt. But with mine, yes, I am able to connect to data services. It works upon boot, I dont have to do anything extra. Except the first time it booted, it took about 2 reboots for LTE to kick in. So far so good for me. Im on T-Mobile US, im not sure if that matters though. Anyway, good luck
Is there a setting somewhere that enables LTE?

I dont know what the heck is going on, but it seems you need to reboot a couple of times and when your tab boots up, dont touch it for about 20 seconds and then see if its working.

When I boot up my tablet, if I let it sit there until the screen turns off, it works. If i dont wait, it does not work. Its got something to do with airplane mode being enabled and I have no idea why this is happening.

Goto the settings and search for "Data" and goto the Data Connection and toggle off/on data connection a couple of times. It should work.
