[Q] s pen removal - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

sorry to be stupid - any trick to s pen removal
thanks

Thought I was the only one wondering this.
I have the first Galaxy note i717 and don't remember the feel for the note 2 but i felt the note 10.1 2014 pen was a little dificult to take out of the slot. Is it stiff for everybody else?

just make sure you let your fingernails grow a bit, lol.

Wasn't hard for me at all.

Galaxy Note 10.1 S Pen Holder Kit ET-S110EBEGXAR

Hi all,
I stumbled across this the other day;
http://m.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/ET-S110EBEGXAR
The pic seems to be of the smaller n7000 version of the pen holder and seems unclear that it comes with both the holder and active stylus.
I would really like a larger pen. Does anyone have any additional info?

I have this one and would not recommend it. It is the original one they made when they first released the phone version of the Note. Although the pen makes a big difference to using the phones small S-pen, there is a button on the side of the holder that gets pressed unless you hold it a particular way and causes your writing flow to stop.
The way it works is that you place the small S-pen inside this holder which aligns itself with the button and then you just twist the holder into place. It does come with a spare S-pen, the one made for the original Note.
If you want a full sized pen, you should go for any Wacom pen enabled pens that also have the eraser on the end, the eraser works well with S-note and other apps that support the eraser function. It may also be a good idea to order different tips and depending on your preference, use the one that suits your usage patterns.
Do you have a link for one you recommend?

You can have a read through arjag's other thread to get recommendations, I have the one for the Lenovo x61t which works well however I have not yet tried other tips yet which I will do, the original ones,I tend to find are not as smooth as the one fitted on the new S-pen of the Note 10.1.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
I was really hoping that Samsung had actually released a pen holder kit that fitted and came with a n8000 replacement stylus.
As mentioned I my other thread, I am too disappointed in the performance of the Lenovo pen to use it.

If you (or anyone) is also using that Note 10.1 as a phone, this Samsung S-pen with bluetooth headset may be of interest to you :good:

Um, how would you write when you are on a call?
How about just using a BT headset as a BT headset and the pen as a pen?
This seems like a gimmick to me with few practical uses.
Hi,
I agree that the bt pen seems to be a gimmick too. After using a dual mic (dsp) headset there is no going back. I am very happy with my Plantronics Voyager Pro.
It really does seem there is no such thing as a "Galaxy Note 10.1" S Pen holder kit and Samsung are just trying to get rid of un sold ones.
I think this is a bit rude of Samsung!
Does anyone know where to get the propper replacement S Pen for the N80xx?
Edit: Scratch that, through samsung's site of course http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/ETC-S1G2BEGXAR

Some place on here is a place to buy new tips for the s pen. Some people came with 2 different type of tips and it fixed all issues. Or call Samsung they have part number.

My pen works fine even tho I never really use it. The sensors in your pen may be damaged.

They can not be damaged because the pen works perfectly with the note 2...very smooth fluid....
Can u link me sir? Ill search around
I guess ill go to tmobile tmrw n try to note 3s...its so unsensitive
It works fine for me too, the only complaint I have is how hard it is pull it out and how not slipper the tip is (former could be due to pen abused by previous owner).
But It's so tight that I almost convinced it was made with spring load mechanism in mind, but they forgot put one in...
Also, because spen can be put in two directions (button up or down), every time you pull it out you have to look for the button, while on N2 you could literately find button in one motion without looking, because once you pull it out, the button at the same place every single time.

Mine also looks like set to lefty on bottom right corner, everywhere else is fine.
As of non-slipery tip in my previous comment, I just learned that N3 comes with extra tips, so I got one with rubber tip.

Should the s-pen have flexible or stiff tip?

I just purchased note 8.0 which is really great, but one thing is starting to annoy me (a little). That's the tip of the s-pen which is flexible (it moves on the sides a milimetr or two) and also if I press it against a surface the tip is pushed a 1/2 mm inside the s-pen.
I would much more preffer a stiff tip, like my pen's, and I was wondering if it's just a faulty s-pen I got, or if it's by design and all you have the same kind of s-pen tip?
If so... is there any way I can make the tip to be still like say... a pencil tip? What would be important is to have it reversible, so gluing the tip to the case is rather out of the question.
Any help from someone who was looking for the same thing as me?

Doesn't seem that your s-pen is faulty.
The Moving tip is part of Wacom tech and is what detects taps/clicks as well as pressure.
, however a mm or 2 2 sideways is a bit too much and should not happen.
My other Wacom pen for regular pc tablet (intuos) also dips in and out a bit, so that's normal.
Thanks for responding. I appriciate taking the time.
But isn't it true that you can use other manufacturers pens with galaxy note series, and some of them have stiff tips?

I don't think you can use other manufacturer pens with note 8. Even Only few of the pens by wacom are compatible.
There are wacom pens with replaceable tips, but they more or less give a different surface feel as opposed to a rigid tip itself.
Oh, I didn't know that. So the s-pen's for Galaxy Note 8.0 are different than for other note's, in terms of technology? The thing about other pens I was writing in reference to other galaxy devices that use s-pen, where people said they purchased other (bigger) stylus'es.

as far as i am aware, up to samsung Galaxy Note 3.0 all s-pen enabled devices have same underlying technology by wacom, so it's the same manufacturer (samsung/wacom).
however some pens might work across the board on a lot of devices and some might not due to device specific calibrations.

I see. Thanks for additional info.

[Q] Sticky s-pen

Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere, I searched and found nothing - Anyway - Does anyone else have a sticky s-pen? I have this tablet, coming from a Note 8.0, and if I use that s-pen on the 10.1 it's fine, just like writing on glass, but using the one supplied with the 10.1 it's like writing on soft plastic, there's a lot of inertia between nib and glass. At first I thought I'd left a screen-protector on and after spending 10 minutes trying to pick the glass off the front realised there wasn't one. Hopefully my s-pen will wear-in in time but did anyone else have the same "problem"?

No sticky spen here, all normal for me
Have you tried changing the nibs/tips. There should be replacement ones in the box
Sent from my Note 2014 using Tapatalk
Haha - do you know what, I got as far as taking the tab out of the box, putting all the plastic covers back in then storing the box in the loft, I didn't actually look at what else was in it. Dear me, I'm an idiot...
And thanks again, there were indeed, 7 more, including 2 hard ones which are perfect for me. I can't imagine anyone wanting the drag you get from the original (and 5 spares) but each to their own...

No problem. I didn't know that the nibs were different. If you say some are harder than others I might have to find my box and see :good:

The orignial nibs have a feel much more like the drag of a pen or pencil on paper and I much prefer it as it makes controlling the pen much easier. A hard nib feels like it's skittering over the surface of the glass and is most unsatisfactory.
Fortunately for both of us, we get to choose which one we prefer.

I appreciate that but I think the one I had was a bit too sticky, almost like crayon on paper, I might try some of the others to see if they're all the same.
I have to say that I also prefer the hardtips, allows me to write faster. I noticed that when the screen is very clean the friction on the softtips is pretty noticable. Once the screen has a few fingermarks on it, it goes easier because the oil/sweat acts as a lubricant. The hardtips aren't affected that much by the surface conditions on the screen.

S-Pen Stylus with Stylus Holder

Question for those of you who had the original Galaxy note n7000 or i717, but also know what the 10.1 s-pen "feels" like...
I recently purchased an "S-pen Holder" off of eBay for use with my Note 10.1 (n8000), though the s-pen that comes with it is intended for the Original Galaxy Note (n7000).
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-S-Pen-Stylus-Holder/dp/B0076Z3GMG
I thought that while the note devices had undergone improvements, the actual s-pens were functionally the same, so I figured I would be nice to have a more pen-like s-pen. The s-pen that fits in the holder does function, but it is definitely NOT the same. While the pen holder is very very nice, the actual S-pen that fits inside of it is absolute crap compared to the one that comes with the note 10.1. The tip is very hard, and does not have the "gumminess" that allows the pen to lay down that nice real pressure sensitive line.
So my question is, does anyone know if they ever make a less crummy pen for the n7000? Is there one available with has more of that modern Galaxy note feel to it? Or, is there a decent aftermarket pen with the same form factor?
I want to keep this fantastic holder, but I will not be able to use this s-pen. The problem is that the case only fits the pen in the shape made for the n7000 and i1717. I already asked the same question on the forums for those devices, which are ghost towns.
Any input would be great.
