[Q] Why is it so hard to export lecture note notebooks and import into Lecture notes? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I've been trying to export a notebook I was working with in the old 10.1 with lecture notes so that I can import it into my 2014. For some reason my 2014 Lecture notes can't see the notebook. If I browse to the directory with my files I see an Xml file and all the pages of the notebook in .png format. Why the he'll is it so hard to share notebooks between two Lectures notes??? :rage:
Oh and I've already exported and imported as a pdf but I set the background to black and used white to write. It exported with a white background.

I think someone said to sync it with your samsung account and then sync it back again.

It's easier exporting via zip than pdf since it preserves the file format. 1) First back up your files on the notebooks board by going to the menu then choosing "backup note books board" This may take a minute or two depending on how many notebooks you have..... it compresses your notebooks to a zip file 2) Go to the file directory for lecture notes and you should see the zip file saved usually "LectureNotesNotesbooksboard.zip" Copy this and transfer via sd card or dropbox to new note. Run Lecturenotes on the new note and go to menu and press "import notebook or folder" May take a few minutes to import all your files depending on how much you have.

@gina$zanboti: I am not entirely sure whether I understand what you wish to achieve.
If you wish to transfer your notebooks board from the old note to the new note and retire the old note, backup the notebooks board on the old note, transfer the file `LectureNotesNotebooksBoard.zip´ (the actual file name might contain a date stamp if you enabled that option) to the new note, and restore the notebooks board from that file.
If you wish to transfer your notebooks board from the old note to the new note and use both devices for note-taking, the best is to setup synchronization via a cloud service.

[Q] Transfering old s note files to the new s note.

Is there a way to transfer the old s note files into the new one? I tried moving them over, but s note crashes when it tries to convert the notes. At one point it restarted without me even realizing until I found myself staring at the boot up logo.
I really don't want to have to export the notes one by one as pdf's and then import in my new 2014... I have too many notes for that to be a good idea. there must be a better way.
EDIT:
I've been working with the trial verision of lecture notes and I'm really liking it. So I'm hoping there might be a way to export multiple snb files to pdf?

I am very frustrated as well. I brought in my latest snb file to continue my meeting notes after purchasing the Note 2014, and the conversion was horrible. I mix my notes up with handwritten text, text input, and sketches, and the snb file converted is not even usable. I tried copying the old S Note app to the Note 2014, but to no avail. Does that mean going forward, my years worth of snb files are crap if I want to continue using the New 2014 tablet? Thank god I have the Note 2 to use for my old snb files for now. I had to export my latest snb file to PDF on my Note 2, then insert it as a new note in 2014, then add a new page, and it was ok, BUT, why should we have to do that for every file? I guess we will have to wait for root. Not happy right now!
samsung account?
What worked for me was to set my Samsung account to sync snotes on my note2. Then from the menu of the 10.1 2014, import from that account. After they were there, open each one individually to convert them to the new snote. Worked fine. Got the note3 the next day, and they were already synced no issues. You could try ever note from the note2 as well. Then the 10.1 2014. Hope that helps. Great feature to not have work.

Importing & annotating pdf and ppt

I'm a total noob as I'm brand new to Android and Play Store and whatnot with my purchase of the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014).
I'd like to import pdf or ppt into a program so I can use my stylus to annotate on them. From what I've read, apps such as S Note, Papyrus and Lecturenotes can do all of that. However, for whatever reason, I could never find the option to import the pdf or ppt in any of them. Can you please help a newbit out? Thanks very much!
@tandoru: As far as LectureNotes is concerned: LectureNotes cannot directly handle PDF, it needs a free helper app PDFView (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.acadoid.pdfview or http://www.amazon.com/Acadoid-Developer-PDFView/dp/B00CPR4L6K/) to convert the PDF file to its own format. Restart LectureNotes after installation, then there will be additional menu entries and the PDF import settings will be accessible.
PPT needs to be converted to PDF first.
Thanks very much!! I'll give that a go!
Transferring Hard Copy to Tablet
I have a similar question. I recently purchased a galaxy note 10.1/2014. My goal is to transfer my lecture notes, currently in a big binder, to the tablet. The notes are hard copy text with script annotations on many of the pages. I assume that I either need to take pictures of each page, and convert them into pdf files, or scan them into pdf files. What is the best way to do all this and organize the notes into folders for each lecture – HandyCam, CamScanner, S-Notes, Evernote, Lecture Notes, etc? Beyond this, I would like to add images and videos, if possible. Can PDF files be inserted into any of these apps, which would then allow further stylus annotations?
@grossm: How to best scan your documents is mainly a question of how many pages we talk about. If you have only a handful pages, a camera scanner is certainly fine; if you have more than a dozen pages, consider to purchase a scanner device, as you do not need to manually adjust page boundaries; if you have a lot of pages, consider a professional scanning service, which is certainly the most convenient but also most expensive solution.
In all cases, you will have a PDF file at the end (or something that can be converted into a PDF file) and you can import the PDF file into the notebook.
Thanks. I've tried the Canon app - works pretty well.

[Q] Can not paste large typed note files from Clip-Tray

Guys,
Here's a problem that has me confused ~ With the exception of Evernote, no matter what Notes app I use if I open a large document file and select all the typed content then copy to the Clip-Tray, if I then go to any other notes app and select paste, only the top half of the notes in the doc file get pasted.
However, if I do the same in Evernote, all the docs notes get copied across!
It would appear this problem is isolated to my G3 because if I try and do the exact same on a different phone, the entire doc and all it's notes gets copied and pasted across.
Any ideas why there is this limitation?
P.S. I can't use Evernote because this particular doc has a lot of passwords. As such I need to use a secure notes app (which I have 'msecure' and have tried the same with others).
Further confusing ~ Even with only half the typed notes copied and pasted, if I then try to edit and type in the missing notes, although the keyboard pops up and I can type, however nothing gets added to the file.
Basically you can happily type as much as you want but nothing is added on screen or in the doc file.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone........ Any ideas?
It's driving me nuts.
I tried installing another notes app and same thing happens, I load a notes file into it but I can't add any more text to the file.
So no one has any ideas or thoughts on the subject?

S pen copy to clip board

After days of research I still have not found the answer that I am looking for. My old note 10.1 tablet was used extensively for school. I keep my textbooks and notes on it. The digitizer died so I upgraded to a 2014 edition. I am very upset over the loss of functionality with this tablet. When I lasso something I get the option to copy it to scrapbook and a whole bunch of other programs but not the clip board or gallery. I can copy it to lecture notes but it is done in a very clunky way. With my old note tablet I would simply lasso something like an equation in a text book and I would then wait about 5 seconds and the picture would disappear and automatically be save to clipboard. I then switched back to lecture notes and I would click the menu and select Import image and then choose gallery and my lassoed image would be right there. I simply selected it, change the size how I needed it and clicked the little check mark. Done.
With the new note there is no way to save to clipboard. My only other option is to upload it to a program like photos, Picasa, drive, and so on. I should not need an internet connection to upload something to what is basically being used as a clipboard. How do I get this feature back? Do I need to root? Can I reinstall the old note program or settings? Of course samsung says that it can't be done but I find that hard to believe since the older tablet did it just fine. Any help is appreciated.
Does lecture notes not appear in the list of programs you can send the selection to? Maybe you can ask the developer to help, as ever note, one note, snote etc are all there. Much easier than copying to clipboard and then importing.
By the way, once you send it to a program, it does get copied to the clipboard automatically. You can paste it if you are using the Samsung keyboard.

Yes it does, but the issue is that when I select it, it wants to open it in a new notebook or open a existing notebook and then insert it at the beginning of the notebook. If I am in a class where I have taken lots of notes then I have to drag the inserted image to the bottom of the page, use the volume buttons to move the page down, then drag again, move page, again and again for however many pages of notes I have. The way it used to work was I lassoed something, copied to clipboard, went back to lecture notes where I had just left it, insert image and confirm. It has changed from about a 10 second process to 30 seconds or more for a single image. At this point I would be happy with removing the new snote and spen settings from both my note 4 and note 10.1 2014 and putting the old snote/spen settings back in to get this functionality back. It's just stupid that clipboard is not an option. And the ONLY reason that it seems it isn't is because Samsung wants us to use it's apps, which it has already shown that it won't support from version to version. I used to use snote for all of this but when I upgraded my phone my old tablet and the new phone would no longer sync. So I upgraded the tablet too and now wish I hadn't. The moment another company comes out with a comparable product with native stylus support, I am done with Samsung.
Yeah, It's annoying that there is no copy to clipboard option. I also use it for notes and I multiwindow a PDF reader with Lecture notes. The lecture notes option in the lasso kills the multiwindow and, as you said, it works weirdly.
The solution I found: Select whatever you want to copy with the lasso. In the apps selection bar, select the Bluetooth option (with Bluetooth off). If you see at the bottom. Of the screen, a little white rectangle will say 'Copied to clipboard'. Then a popup will appear saying: 'You need to enable bluetooth' Click Cancel and wohala!!
Paste it as you know.
I actually posted this in a conversation with acadroid, Lecturenotes creator, somewhere.
Edit: Here, better explained with images:

Tell me if it works..
It does seem to copy to a "non standard" clip board. Thanks for the tip. I also noticed that after trying this that if I select lecture note from the menu it is not trying to open a new note book now. It seems to try to insert the picture where I last was in lecture notes. Not sure why the change. I think I can make it work. I think the failure here is mostly not being able to copy straight to a clip board or the gallery but that is more on samsung than lecture notes. And lector notes is one hell of a step up from snote. Thanks for the tips everyone.
@sendeth: I am not sure whether this helps, but LectureNotes has an open `import image in open notebook´ in the app's import settings. If you enable this option, any image which is opened with LectureNotes or shared to LectureNotes gets directly imported (or, more precisely, placed for import) into the currently open notebook.
You might want to wait for the lollipop upgrade, or do it if you already have it available. It has the smart clip feature from Note 4, which let's you grab screen clips and keep them in a floating tray onscreen, then paste into whichever application you want. I use it all the time on the edge, and it works pretty well. Haven't tried with LN though.

Same here, it's driving me insane.
I need to browser on my PC thru all of my notes and I just can't seem to be able to.
- No PC app for Samsung Notes (although there is one for S Notes...)
- No GUI for Samsung Cloud, meaning it's impossible to merely view what's on there.
- No connection to Evernote.
- No mass-share back from Samsung Notes to S Note (you can do it but only one by one, and worse, it's imported as a picture)
Haven't been able to find the folder or, in better words... I have found "a" folder in Phone\SamsungNotes\SNote3... But all of that is empty, so there must be another place.
If anybody has a clue... I would very grateful

I just found 2 interesting folders under :
Code:
Phone\Android\data\com.samsung.android.app.notes\
One is "cache" and it's empty. The other is "files" and it has (??) a JPG copy of all of my notes.
It's a start. But I still cannot find where is the editable file.

samsung messed up notes app.. the only real advantage over snote is its lag free 90% of time.
Yeah I want to use S Note full-on, it is the best notes app no question and I have tried damn near every notes app in the Play Store, have had an Evernote premium account for years, etc. But to make it a proper notes solution they need to have a PC app and web app. I installed S Note on my Win7 PC, and I synced but nothing showed up. I tried live chat support and emailed Samsung, the response I got was this:
Thank you for contacting Samsung Customer Care.
From what you've written, we understand that you have installed S-Note software on your Windows PC and looking to view notes created on your Galaxy Note 7 phone.
We certainly understand your requirement by reviewing your email, however would like to inform you that there is no possible option available to accomplish that.
We can create notes and sync them on the software and restore them back, however there is no option of viewing them on the software on the device.

Which makes me want to stick with Evernote even with their 2-device limit (I stopped premium a while back) I can at least add stuff while on my laptop then see it on the phone, of course, and vice versa. That's a basic necessity if they want the notes deal to be taken seriously.
You need to be rooted
The folder is that same name but under /data/data/.......

Smart switch for samsung phones will let you put the notes from Samsung notes onto your sd card or pc etc.. the note in Samsung Notes are kept on the cloud not eithin the phones storage.
I think the "Samsung notes" are stored on the s8 internal storage and not elsewhere because when you run out of room on the internal storage the samsung note app won't save unless you delete sometging off the inturnal storage.
Where are they stored??
I also prefer to back up manually!
Does anyone know how to delete the cloud back ups of Samsung Notes? I've used smart switch to back them up and restore them, but, I cleaned up the 175 notes I've taken/made over the years down to 28. If you import from cloud you get all the ones that are there, including all 175! Samsung don't know how to either.
Thanks!
EASY!
all smsmsung note files are stored in 2 folders.:
data\data\com.samsung.android.app.notes\SDocData\
data\data\com.samsung.android.app.notes\app-attach\
just backup these 2 folders if you want to restore it (on a different phone with the same app)
sdoc data contain .sdoc files (container files, so if you rename to .zp you can extract mps3s(voice msgs) and text in raw data)
in app-attach are the drawings as .png
remember, when erasing a note in the app it is still in the 2 folders , just not visible any more in the app. very bad from a security and data savings perspective...
also with this regard i dont recommend (any) cloud backups - the (few) smasmsung apps i use dont have wifi/internet access anyway (AFWall+)
