Best uses for S Pen - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

So I've had the Note 3 now for about a week and have yet to take the S-Pen out. Not sure why I haven't but what's the point? Is there like a Top 5 or 10 list of uses of the S Pen around somewhere? Or could someone give me a killer use of it that they use? I don't play many games, but would love to have it be a productivity thing if possible.
Thanks!

Action memo, Scrapbooker, Screen write are 3 great uses For the S-Pen.

Don't have my Note 3 yet but my main S-Pen uses on my Note 1 are:
- Drawing and writing notes in Memo
- Using it as a mouse for remote desktop and VNC
- Hovering over popup menus on web pages without clicking them
- Draw Something
Otherwise I don't really use it, but knowing it's there is nice and I use it enough to not want to lose it on a new device, so I'm sticking with the Note line of devices, at least until some real competition happens.

Bloon TD games. Very precise. Though I have a smartphone, I hate fingerprints on my screen so I use my S-Pen a lot instead of my finger.

I find S pen is super usefull when it is used as writing in asian language such as vietnamese, chinese...etc...

I use it for everything. It keeps fingerprints off the screen. And it's really useful for tapping small buttons on web-pages.

cleaning my ear out

Makeshift toothpick.

handwritten note app

I'm looking for an app to write with a capacitive stylus that makes the bottom of the screen inactive so you can rest your hand on the screen to write. Hopefully it will have the ability to create themes for backgrounds from other sources or your own design.
I found one (but no bg themes) awhile back but can't find it again and don't remember the name. Any assistance would be appriciated.

A customer likes 7notes on iPad, he persuaded me to try it on Android (7notes with mazec in play store)
I don't get on with it at all, plus the "rubber tip" capacitive stylus seems to drag too much on my N7 screen, the type with a wire mesh seem better, depends on what the N4 screen is like ... horses for courses.
You're looking for Lecture Notes. Give it a shot. The trial has all features, just is limited to 8 notebooks.

[Q] How do you use your S-pen?

I think I may have pulled it out 4x in the last 3 months.
Any of you use the S-pen more often? What for?
Thanks
daily

scrolling down webpages using airwiew mode

While the S Pen is great for taking notes, I find it a little irritating for scrolling and manuvering the phone with it as compared with the Tegra Note Stylus. But then the tegra note stylus is not that good for writing because of its edged contact point.
i have a note device for a month and now im afraid that i may get something without a stylus next
I guess this is the only feature keeping me uplifted even after negligence from Samsung to update our phone
It's useful in both work life and personal life
I don't worry anymore if I miss my notebook for any meeting.

What you miss in galaxy note 10.1 2014?

Hi, owners of galaxy note 10.1 2014, as a user of device I would like to know from you people what you miss in our beloved and hated device. I bought this device in hope to get a partial substitute for my school notebook, but I realize that paper for me is much better to study and here some problems that I found.
Lack of apps that combine good performace, good looking, usuability, simplicity and compability to pdf editing. I never found an app that is better than good notes from ios.
The distortion in border that I got with stylus that annoying
Difficult to find a good screen protector that works perfect with stylus (without grasp)
Very slow battery charge and performace (exynos version)
Screen quality, I can say exactaly but the screen reproduction is not the best for taking notes even with reading mode etc...
Screen size is not the best for reading
Slow multi-task window
Sorry, my english writing is not the best.
And leave your opinions :highfive:
Hi,
The only thing that I really don't like is the fake stitching and the 'green blue white black' status bar and settings colour scheme.
I managed to love all the other aspects of this device through persistent modding and tweaking of the device. It took me a while but I can now safely say that I'm in love with this device.
If you want I can walk you through the steps I took (and rom/apps I use) in order to achieve a more desirable experience.
The pentile screen tech is not a downer for me, and I can't complain about it as I'm coming from the original note 10.1
Performance is more then ideal for me(dunno about games) and the battery does charge slow. But taking into account that all tablet batteries charge slow (atleast 1,5 years ago) this isn't much of a big deal.
P.s Try Incredible, they're the devs of notes plus on ios. Best writing xp I've had thus far, but it's still lacking in the utility department.

I agree with you that there are no perfect apps out there for pdf annotation. But I have been finding more and more that Adobe Reader is not too bad, at least for what I do. When I read or edit papers on pdfs, there are four annotation functions that I need:
- highlighting
- underlining
- adding text boxes
- adding sticky notes
Adobe Reader is capable of doing all of the above, with options of choosing color and font size. Most importantly, the file format remains unchanged as pdf after the annotations. This means I can see (and further edit) all the annotations on a Mac and PC.
So far, I have been quite happy using this for marking up manuscripts, although I am not sure if it could handle a much larger (longer) document such as a thesis with hi-res figures.
New tricks from note 4 , like apps minimize from corner and music and browser pop when ya click link or file that will not take full screen to play it for ya
I like my tablet and its one of the best i've ever seen , so bad samsung dont make new update for it and cares for making new devices only
Have you tried Lecture Notes?

Do we realy need screen protectors anymore? been using my note 10.1 2012 edition daily since it came out and i still havent seen a scratch. get a descent case/skin and you should be set. unless yhou throw it around on the ground
I have an exynos version. It's pretty much 1/4 of the speed it needs to be, takes longer to charge than it has SOT.
Take this present from me and try xodo docs . It is the best pdf editing app on play store

I am running the tab s rom on my note so its pretty fast and smooth. What I miss most on my note is the positioning of the micro usb port. I always wanted it to be on the right hand side rather than the bottom position. Other than that, well our device lacks heavily in the accessory delartment. So I can say a good keyboard.

Came from the Note? Do you miss the S-Pen?

I just switched from the Note 4 and, man is this a beautiful phone. But with that said, I really miss the S-Pen features. I was actually hoping Samsung would sell a compatible S-Pen (like the Note 5's spen). Totally wishful thinking.
While I didn't foresee or expect to miss it, these are the things I'm longing for:
-Tap and press pen for screen cap or partial screen cap. I really hate the palm swipe to capture gesture. I do it successfully 1/10 times
- drawing on photos in Studio or Snapchat
- writing brief notes
- casual navigation
I'm curious to know your thoughts or if you know some future functionally that I don't.
I also switched from the note 4...i dont miss the s-pen at all..as amatter of fact i never used the s-pen . So when i saw that our phones had the exact same hardware as the note 5 and a 5.7 screen..well of course i jump on it.

I find myself missing it only for those few instances where it would come in handy (like there ones you mentioned) which is like 1% of the total time. As far as screen shot with palm swipe, I gave up on it and just use the power button + home button combination to take screen shots. [emoji1]

I came from the Note 4, and I don't regret it.
I never really used the S-Pen and was always trying to give myself a reason too. This phone was definitely worth the upgrade.

I had all 4 Notes and never used the pen except to just try it out and play with it. I bought the Notes mainly for screen size and top notch hardware. I was happy when this phone was announced, I knew I was buying it. I
Not one bit! Came from the N4 and hardly ever used the s-pen. Loving the Edge+!! Absolutely no regrets!!
As far as screen capture just press the power button + home button. Much easier than palm swipe imo...
This phone is sexy kept my note 3 as mp3 player.

For those that miss the spen, you can buy an active stylus, (which is basically an spen}, to use on any device. Plenty to choose from, around $30. Google or search amazon.

Traded in my note 4 and used the s-pen a few times when I first got it but after that never used it. I got the 64g black edge+ yesterday but really liked the look of the gold one.. They only had 1 black 64g in stock and no gold ones. I now wish I waited for a gold one. I guess I could take a $50 loss and return the black within 14 days for a gold phone.
Yeah I miss drawing on pics and screenshots. But I only did that maybe 10 times a year.

Buy S7 edge plus c pen and you get the note 7?

Hi All,
I saw a video review of the new c pen Samsung released for the tabpro S windows tablet. I can't embed a link, but it's on youtube. Turns out, it works very well with the S7edge. With the price of the S7 edge dropping and samsung essentially re-releasing this phone with a pen (Note7), I thought maybe for some users it might be worthwhile to consider buying the cheaper S7 edge plus the c pen. You save money, can port the grace UX rom and basically have a note7. Yes, the pen does not fit in the phone, but aside from that and the restricted iris scanner, is this a bad idea? I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
cheers,
Rekil
Bad idea is not a good way to put it. I'd say more so that it is comparing a mouse to a elephant. The note 7 has features that the s7 does not have the s pen functionality is priceless if you need it. The iris scanner is for security of unlocking the device itself, also for protection of passport banking ect in a folder you can only access and even hide. I would say the note 7 is the better of the two.

I think you're grossly exaggerating. The hardware is 100% identical. Hardly befitting of a mouse vs elephant. With the Grace UX rom you get all the same pen features, just select manually. So, nothing missing. Finally, for one to believe the hype regarding the first gen tech of iris scanner, which samsung themselves point out is extremely restrictive,is highly naive. How good was the first gen fingerprint tech on the Note 4? Besides, the security can probably be achieved using the fingerprint anyways.
Having said all that, I'm still getting the Note7!

Nope. You're comparing a capacitive stylus using s/w to approximate pressure and location to a Wacom digitizer. The display not the pen is what makes a Note a Note. More here.
http://www.howtogeek.com/177376/not...ual-capacitive-wacom-and-bluetooth-explained/
Yeah your Edge screen isn't going to suddenly sense 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and let you hover your pen over the screen to access drop down menus, etc.

As long as i know is the answer is No! S Pen stylus won't work on others than Galaxy Note series itself. Because all the Note series have an additional screen layer in their LCD Digitizer which allows the S Pen stylus that comes with them to work. So the answer is NO LAYER NO STYLUS SUPPORT.
