Need recommendations for Keyboard/Case combo for Note 10.1 (2012 Ed)? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Accessories

I've spent the whole day researching on which keyboard/case to buy and to my conclusion, there's none that's exceptional in the market.
-Samsung's standalone keyboard has awesome reviews but it sucks that it's not embedded in a case.
-Belkin's version has horrible reviews on it
-The ones on amazon and eBay have issues with magnets interfering with S-Pen capabilities.
-The aluminum one also has horrible reviews
Not sure where to turn to, I'm a college student (pre-med) and I just got the Note recently because i love the multi-window function as it'll allow me to type the lecture/draw diagrams(anatomy etc.)
Does anyone here have any experience with a keyboard/case combo?
Thank you

There's a $99 bt model I've had my eye on for awhile. I want to say its a case logix or logitech. What makes it so great in my mind is the 4 corners are velcor attached (very strong velcro), plus 2 different types (tab thickness) for the corner pieces. I saw it at microcenter.

Tips for a pleasant XDA:
Search before asking. Someone has likely already asked.
Spell your words completely, and use punctuation. It confuses people when you use "u" and "ur" and "dat", or when you wrongly use "there/their/they're/your/you're".
Be nice. Don't be rude, just move on to another post without leaving a comment. We are not 7 years old.
And PLEASE, do not ask for the "best" anything. We all have our preferences.

I agree, it's hard to find one that's worth anything. I managed to find one where I am now. It's OK and pairs using Bluetooth. You sometimes have to go back and tap a letter a second time, which for a college student, might not be the best thing. I have Swype on my tablet and it works just as well as a keyboard. That's what I use when I'm at work. Whatever you get, make sore you look at what holds it closed and go for Velcro. The one I bought had magnets and they were strong enough to distort my screen when I was using writing apps (S-Note, Papyrus, etc.).

My solution to this was just to use an apple bt keyboard with my samsung note. I have limited desk space in class and it really helps to be able to keep my keyboard in my lap. I just discovered this case while trying to figure out a way to carry my note and my bluetooth keyboard easily. Its designed for ipads and it was a bit of a squeeze but my tablet is nice and snug now and the s-pen is not blocked

Do you have a model name and/or supplier you can mention?
Thanks.

Here are three models I am considering, two on eBay/dx and one at "TVC-Mall". Since I am a new user, I can't post links to them or pictures, but here's enough info to find them, I hope:
1) "Seenda"
On ebay - seller named globalsucceed01
Also on DX.
DX has it in several colors. It says it uses magnets, which some people have commented can be a problem. Cost is close to $30.
It says the keyboard is removable.
2) at TVC-Mall :"Ultra Thin Bluetooth Keyboard Leather Stand Case For Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1"
Never bought from TVC-Mall, but web reviews are mostly good - they take PayPal, which provides some measure of protection. This one looks pretty sleek. Shipping is a mite expensive - brings total cost to about $31.
3) "Generic"
A seller named "wfei_shop" has it listed as "Bluetooth Wireless Case Keyboard Cover For Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 N8010"
This one has flap in front that looks like it might get in the way. On the other hand, it looks like the keyboard is removable. I've seen this in several colors, too. Cheaper - only $23
Anyone ever tried any of these? Anything to watch out for? Any opinions on any of them (from experience or reviewing the listings)?
Thanks!

Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard Case

Hi guys. I am really interested in buying one of these.
http://www.dodgybastards.co.nz/bluetooth-keyboard-case-for-10-1-galaxy.html
I was wondering if any of you guys own this? If anyone does would you mind giving me your opinion on this case?
There seem to be next to no reviews of this case out there whereas there are a lot of reviews about the zagg and Logitech cases. Unfortunately those brands oonly sell cases for ipad here in new zealand. Thanks
I own this and am quite happy with it. Looks good and the keyboard is a joy to type on.
Two things I'm not very happy about are weight (unavoidable, I guess) and, mostly, that there is no way to use it with the tab in portrait mode. Oh, and I think it is a tad too expensive.
I would have bought the Logitech, if only I could. For the portrait mode. But I don't at all regret having bought the Samsung.
You can see the thing in action on Youtube (mind you, in Italian). I was going to post the link but, as a new user, I can't. Search for "Tastiera originale Samsung per Galaxy Tab 8.9 e 10.1"

thanks for your reply mate, really appreciate it. yeh its a tad expensive isnt it, thats why I wanted some opinions before buying it. I never use my tablets in potrait mode, unless I am reading a comic which is very rare. the 10.1 just looks silly in potrait if you ask me lol
Also, I usually prefer to have it on my lap rather than on desks, does the stand sit stable on laps? because the stand kinda looks weak and unstable. I know it'll be fine on desks and tables but does it slide around when in your lap?
The stand is indeed very flimsy. OK for a table or desk, provided we don't push or pull the keyboard. As for a lap, I hadn't even considered it. Well, I just tried and... no. Absolutely not.
It is sort of possible to forget about the stand and leave the tablet flat. Requires one hand to hold it or it will hit the floor in no time. Not practical at all.
After I bought the Samsung case, I saw a Logitech look-alike on Amazon UK. I wouldn't really risk buying one now because: 1) I already own a very nice keyboard case, and 2) the only sellers offering it have appalingly low ratings. Still, if it works as advertised and one could find a reputable source...
Again, no links. But try searching for "Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Aluminum Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab10.1"...

thanks bro. yeh i think i will wait like you said before buying one. i am just really annoyed that ipad has so many accessories whereas I cant find a decent keyboard case which can sit on my lap. cheers for your replies!
I got one from Amazon real nice Fuax lwther with built in Bluetooth Keyboard. I paid $47.95 plus shipping about a month ago but just went to get the link and its on sale for $39.95.
this works perfectly.

hey thanks for the link bro. I've owned similar cases for other tablets before and I really dont like the rubber keyboards on them.
oh and I went ahead and bought the samsung keyboard dock instead of the keyboard case. the dock is great. since it has got the 30 pin connector, the tab slots right in and you dont have to worry about it falling. and most importantly the dock sits stable on my lap and I can type just like a normal laptop. it doesnt move around. I really like it
omg that one is too expensive dude..
maybe you can check Apple bluetooth Keyboard.. quite good man. it's light, good materials and 100% compatible.
Logitech bluetooth keyboard is a very good choice aswell.
good luck bro.
I have the Zagg case and it is pretty great. I also have the Samsung white keyboard which is almost perfect except that it will revert to the Samsung on screen keyboard after using it . This is a pain since I use touchpal.
The new OEM keyboard case looks handsome but not as useful as Zagg.

Yes, it can. There's four little rubber stops that keep the keys off the screen when closed that double as feet when fold the keyboard under the way you described. And while yes, it's pricey, it's the slimmest, best fitting, and best made of the keyboard cases out there.
I purchased the official case cover a few days ago from Samsung. I am shocked about how few reviews there have been online. I could not find a decent video review. I am hoping that the build quality is decent, as my Zagg keyboard (Zaggfolio) broke - the space bar no longer works. I will probably take the replacement keyboard they sent me and sell it on ebay.
By the way, I saved 15% by using the coupon code: Samsung#1 on the Samsung.com website and got free next day air shipping.

Here is my review of the Samsung OEMKeyboard case.
Pro's
Very light, form fitting, well designed. Easy to type on.
Con's
No touchpad, no sd port, no built in battery, pretty expensive, cannot really use effectively in the portrait mode.
Overall, this is clearly superior to the Zaggfolio. .. but pales in comparison to the Asus Transformer keyboard (which is the same MSRP).

Just got this case today and I must say I am completely happy with this purchase.
It literally turns your tablet into a laptop.
Duqjag complains about not having a touch pad however the entire screen is a touch pad which would make a little square panel obsolete and difficult to use.
My only quarms with this keyboard is the left shift key being so small that you'll find yourself with a lot of \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ on your screen when trying to capitalize a letter.
Also if there were a way to make certain trigger keys customizable this would enhance the experence too. e.g. the mail button opens the mail app as opposed to the google mail app. Internet button opens the stock browser as opposed to Opera or dolphin.
It stands up on almost every surface without issue and if you fold the keyboard over it also acts as a bottom panel to keep the screen in a face up position.
Vertically it doesnt work but do laptops????
Fork out the cash I say and enjoy the ride. As tablets get better internally, 10.1 will still be a dimension samsung keeps using so i can confidentally say that this case will be transferable to newer models.
Hi,
I've got the Samsung BT-Keyboard-Case here in Germany for a really affordable price - 57,- €, and it is worth every cent. The look and feel of the case is noble, but durable, and when I carry it arround here at my college the I-Thing-users get possessive.
It has a built-in recharable battery which lasts for some 3 days. I use it flipped over as a night stand at my bed, listening to Tune-in radio, I work with it every day, and the cover protects the case perfectly.
The only con is that it doubles the weight of the pure tab, but I really can say that I am happy with it and would always buy it again.
I am looking for keyboard as well, want something nice, shineny neath, but inexpensive. (Not sure it does exist )
Are those aluminum bluetooth keyboard on ebay and amazon so useless? Any suggestion pls.
If i can not find any good review on those no brand keyboard i might have to buy logitech and it costs fortune

Good wallet/diary style case?

I'm looking for a good book/diary/wallet style case for my new T-Mobile Galaxy SII. Something like the BookBook case for the iPhone:
http://twelvesouth.com/products/bookbook_iphone/
or this case for the international Galaxy SII:
http://www.bizwinkorea.com/tablet-p...ine-leather-diary-wallet-type-case-cover.html
I'd kinda want it to look like a leatherbound book, but that's not as important as it actually being leather. I do want it to have pockets opposite where the phone sits to hold money, cards, etc.
Anyone seen anything like this?
None? Nobody's seen anything like this?
Honestly bro I looked high and low for a case like this and it just isn't out yet. There's an OEM product called "Samsung d30 t989 leather slip cover" coming out sometime in the next few months that can be found with Google if you search the quoted phrase. The one case I found like what your asking turned out to be an incompetent eBay seller labeling **** for the international gs2 like it would work for ours.

just search for something similar, you don't need an exact fit for those type of cases, look for another phone with similar size spec, and find it
any updates on this case?
bump for great justice. i really like the twelve south case

dont buy for talkietech or wirless age or something like that, they both dicked me around for two weeks and told me not in stock, there is a guy on ebay from hong kong that has stich color options for pd case, but i got the original from the website above
I ordered a "black Napa leather case" off Amazon. Nice quality but so thick it could hold 2 sgs2's and way too wide. Clearly not made for our phone.

This case is exactly what I want but it's only for iPhone and the measurements don't match.... our phones are too wide
I've been searching for the same thing. I found this one and I really like it. Although the camera and speaker holes are wrong. Might get it and try it out anyway..

I guess, given that there's no hole on the back for camera or speakers, it should work just fine. I don't know how much different our phone is from the original GS2.
Still, at $40, I guess I'd like to hear from someone who has my phone and has bought the case.
I emailed the seller and asked for some pics of the actual item. I'm sure it's an i9100, but here ya go. Looks nice none the less. I may pick one up.
I axially bought one of these and I really like it. It doesn't line up with the holes for the touch buttons perfectly, but my x-acto took care of that easily. Seems to be pretty good quality. I've been using it for about a month.

Are these keyboards any good ?

So I got a 10.1v model, not the standard 10.1 so pretty much any keyboard that would need the tab to slide into it is a no-go for me as the 10.1v is a few milliliters thicker.
So, unless you point me to anything else, this is the only keyboard I've encountered that I could use that is somewhat "tied" to the tablet :
http://www.befr.ebay.be/itm/270895288302?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
These are chinese products and I'm afraid of its quality, but I don't have a choice.
Did one of you guys purchased one of these ? Are they any good ?
I tried to find something but nothing...I could go with a "floating" bluetooth keyboard is the quality is better.
Thanks !
I used this one for while, until I returned it- no complaints. I just didn't need it.

Go out and buy it, it's awesome!
Bluetooth connection is really easy, it has a fast wake up (and you can wake your device up by pressing any key [this even unlocks a non-protection screenlock] whoo!) and a humongous long battery duration.
Additionally, the build quality is very fine!

Well, I dont know whether this is the best thread to post this.. Please let me know if there's any other thread that to which this post has to be moved..
So my crazy / stupid question is ---
Has anyone tried using the asus keyboard dock with the samsung galaxy tab ?
I think this may be something stupid becoz i am already thinking that the charging port for both the tabs are totally different and this may not work at all..
Still I am just curious to know whether this has been tried by anybody...

To answer the OP's question... I just got one from eBay for $26 US. It works very well. For that much money, it's hard to beat. Your CDMA GT should fit in it just fine. Both the keybaord and the case are good quality, and can't be beat for that much money.
I do see one potential problem, however. When the case is latched closed the rubber (soft plastic) bracket that supports the base of the tablet comes into contact the screen and does exert a slight amount of pressure on the screen. Over time I am guessing that may damage the screen, but I'm just guessing - not sure about that at all.
Actually, I like the standard Samsung book case the best for the Galaxy Tab, and I don't always need the keyboard. So I'm going to take the little rubber keyboard out of this case and carry that separately. For $26, even that is a great buy.
This case/keyboard is sold under a bunch of brand names. Here is a bunch of reviews on Amazon, if you like to read them.
Hey Dan,
I've been using the Mobile Keyboard 6000 from Microsoft for a few weeks now.
The price is a bit overkill but sure worth the quality you get. And the number pad being detached from the letters is a nice feature if your on the go all the time, leaving the number pad behind is sometimes a plus. It is slightly bigger then the tablet itself but i don't mind since also use it for at home.
Ive been rocking the typing book cover for 2 days now, and so far i like it aside from a few things. But its not putting me off of it with its sleek tight fit.
The main issue is that there is no place to hold a stylus. (PS definitely worth the 20 bones to pick one up) and second, when it is being held in its typing arrangement, you cannot have anything plugged in besides the headphones. It does have a small slit so that the headphone jack doesn't have to be removed and put back in every time but they didn't do the same for the charger/accessory port.
Cheers!

I just picked the same one up at Target for $30 on clearance yesterday. Not a fan and I wouldn't recommend it. The cookie-sheet case feels flimsy and it doesn't protect the back of the tablet at all. The metal edges are kind of sharp (not knife sharp) but I have to be careful not to scratch the sides of my tab when putting it face down in this case. I also don't feel that it's very secured when closed (tablet face down). The keyboard works alright, it's very responsive, and it pairs easily and maintains it's connection, but some of the dedicated buttons don't work. I also would rather re-map some of the android keys such as the email button to open gmail. Maybe I can, but haven't looked into it. I guess it's ok if you're looking for a cheap bluetooth keyboard, but I don't trust it to protect my tablet. Idk how logitech justified this as a $100 case.
**edit** Been using this case with the blueputdroid app on my phone as a mouse and am loving it!

Bluetooth Keyboard and Stand

I mainly bought this tablet for school. I was looking into a good bluetooth keyboard with Android specific shortcuts like Home, Recents, Back and Menu. I was looking at the Motorola Wireless Keyboard with Trackpad seeing that it also has a trackpad. But I notice that it has a search button instead of Recents. Would I be able to remap the search button to work for Recents instead?
Also I was looking at stands. I prefer to have a stand alone stand and not a case/stand combo because I love the sleekness of this tab. I was looking at the Arkon Portable Fold-Up Stand but it looks kinda flimsy. Last thing I want is this thing flipping over and breaking.
Can anyone give me some thoughts or other suggestions if need be?
Edit: I just seen the ErgoPROP Ergonomic Display Stand. I think I am sold on this one. Has anyone ever used this stand before?
I have this keyboard http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-920-...089&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+android+keyboard, and I love it. It's case doubles as a stand.
I agree too, i bought ithe logitech and love it. I haven't tried other keyboards, but im pretty happy with the logitech so i dont think theres really a need to try a new one
I have two of the Arkon stands, which I use with both the Note and my ThinkPad - a heavier, bulkier tablet. The stand is not flimsy at all and has held up well in constant use. I've had the two stands for more than a year. Very portable, but also very sturdy.

You'd been saying a no, reason being the weight of the product?
The price is not the prime issue, my reason to vouch for it is it being the product by Samsung for Samsung...
I'm confused because there aren't a lot of products directly available in India
My reason is based on the size of the Note. It is bigger than the model that item is made for. That said, it's your $.
You were right.
I did little checking too with the local dealer.
Besides that, I even mailed the Customer Care at Samsung and asked them for details.
They have reverted back saying it is not compatible.
What would your suggestions for a keyboard case be like?
Are Samsung Guys at all planning for something like this?
I'm looking for one myself. Haven't found one I like, yet. Check out this thread for help. The first couple of posts are not helpful since they talk about one for the Tab, maybe even the one you found. The rest of the posts may be quite helpful, just depends.

Hmm...
Its kinda sad but Samsung ain't taking a lotta effort it seems.
Hundreds of options (After Market) are available.
Belkin, Kensington etc... have organised accessories but I think / rather I would wait for Samsung.
Hope its not a LONG one...
Thing is, it's still kind of early. Could be Samsung is letting the aftermarket handle things. Who knows?
Think you're right.
Anyway its nice to know I'm not the only one on the lonely road.
I'm pretty sure though the options will be available in Europe / US markets comparatively earlier than India (Asia).
If so, can you be kind enough to inform me of the product?
Thanks.

Sure, if I find one and if I remember. I do taxes and we're heading in year-end and tax season. It's brutal.

I have two of the Arkon stands, which I use with both the Note and my ThinkPad - a heavier, bulkier tablet. The stand is not flimsy at all and has held up well in constant use. I've had the two stands for more than a year. Very portable, but also very sturdy.

I have an identical stand sold under a different brand name. I stopped using it when I got a ZAGGFolio for my old Tab 10.1, but since I don't have a proper keyboard/case combo for the Note 10.1, I'm using the stand again.

Because it is for the Tab 10.1, not the Note 10.1.
It's VERY well established that any case specifically made for the Tab or Tab2 10.1 will NOT fit the Note 10.1.

I love using a stylus with my S2. I think I actually do so more than I used the S-pen on my previous Note devices. I am actually just using one of the type that you described because I found a few lying around. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a more... stylish stylus (heh) but the kind I'm using does work quite well. Let me know if you find a nice one that you like :good:
Personally I just use a cheap and cheerful stylus from the pound shop. Maybe one of the soft rubber ones that you don't want (it's dome-ended and semi-flexible, not pointed) but it works well enough and if it breaks or dents (the body is thin aluminium) then just replace it with a new one. My S2 case has a pen/stylus loop to store it, and for me it's fine.
My kids also use styluses (stylii?) on their tablets (Hudl's) - they have solid novelty ones that look like pencils but again work fine (although are a bit chunky and small for my adult hands).
So after checking out amazon and some local stores, I still have not found the best pointy stylus that I want but one that I can compromise with and some others.
The Adonit Jot Pro really works, but just worried about the plastic that it will eventually scratch enough of the screen.
The cross dual stylus is the one I compromised based on that it has a pen and the slim and firm rubber of the stylus. Can be slippery to use as a pen though.
Bamboo's smart stylus pen, though advertised to work for samsung galaxy devices does not work. I tried it at a local bestbuy.
But you could get the one from Bamboo with carbon fiber tip (not pointy) and that one works.
Maybe buying this in the future to just try Lynktec Apex Fine Point Stylus. It is advertised to work with galaxy tab s2 in the shopandroid website.
Hopefully you guys can find better than I do.
does this tablet have a pressure sensitive digitizer? someone on Reddit said it did...
Hey guys, I just got a pack of styli that I ordered from Amazon this AM and I'm finding them to be pretty nice in addition to a killer deal. I was doing some research on the topic and found a couple that looked good in a Lifehacker article, but checking out the reviews lots of people had some kind of beef with their recs and they were about $15 each. Browsing around Amazon lead me to these: http://www.amazon.com/Bargains-0-18...49936069&sr=1-2&keywords=bargain+depot+stylus which looked like they were worth a shot, so I grabbed a 4-pack for $9, because math.
So they just showed up about an hour ago, and I would definitely recommend them. The stylus itself has a bit of weight to it, so it feels like using a decent pen, and the tip feels like it's just the right size. In addition to a bag of extra tips that you can switch out if necessary, each has a cap also which I thought was a nice touch. So I'm not sure if this is what everyone's looking for, but if you want a comfortable/precise stylus you really can't go wrong here.
Does anyone have any stylus-centric apps that they frequently use? The S2 is my first non-Note device in a while, so I'm used to doing things with an S-pen that a stylus isn't capable of. I just DLed Google Handwriting Input and Squid (nice for marking up PDFs). I use mine just for swiping around a lot because I have a tablet stand that's a little far from my chair, but I'd interested in hearing about any other apps :good:

I use the Cross Samsung stylus/pen -- basically it is an C pen (not S pen) with my 8" S2 for handwriting on the screen - best handwriting programs for me FiiNote and LectureNotes and OneNote

That's the model I chose. Works well, not too chunky at the tip, and priced right.
Did u end up getting lynteck fine point.
OK, so how do you guys carry the stylus on your tablet? I'm using the Samsung book case because I love the thinness and the way the flaps work. I bought the Large Pen Loop by Arune on Amazon and just don't like the way the stylus just flops around when it's in the loop. I'm thinking of some type of leather or plastic sleeve that can stick on the case and the stylus slides into it.
I thought that a stylus don't work on galaxy's tab s2 9.7 lte alias sm-t 815... yet I See that a metallic thing work as a pen... with a pencil it don't work... this only could work with Wacom displays and a magnetic overflow...I'm confused. ..
im using the 'amazon basic' stylus and it works great with my s2 8.0...
But this is not this what I mean... If u heave headphones so u should try to use the tap with the jack plug as a pen so the spen also should work... I try it tomorrow

Thanks for the info Do your stylii deal with pressure sensitivity ? I plan on buying a Galaxy Tab S2 and use Medibang (drawing app) so I really need a stylus that recognizes pressure changes.
(sorry if my english was bad btw ^^)
is there a stylus bluetooth and an app with palm reject on s2 t815?
sorry for my bad english

You are never going to find a stylus for the Tab that will even approach the tip of the S Pen because the S Pen has nothing to do with the TouchScreen. The S Pen on the Note interacts with an electromagnetic screen placed behind the LCD screen in the Note. Tabs don't have that screen. Instead a stylus for a Tab depends on replacing the "capictance" of your finger with that of the stylus's rubber tip. Can't do that with a tiny tip.
However, if you read further down in this thread, you will find a stylus that does have a much smaller tip than normal. The only problem with them is that the tips must be replace every so often because their special capacitance quality "wears out" with use. Thus the replaceable tips that come with the stylus.

No, because the bluetooth receiver in the Tab would have no way to determine the exact position of the external bluetooth pen.
