Are you able to boot into download mode?, if not its most likely hardbricked, if I'm understanding this right, you flashed your phone(T989/T989D) with a rom that was for a I9000?
If you can't get into download mode, you might want to look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402286

phone boots straight to odin mode help!

my friend tried to root his T999 but messed up on a step im guessing so now his phone will boot straight to odin mode. i tried putting it in download mode and use odin3 to restore it back to stock but odin3 would get stuck at the "nand write start" stage. his phone says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." when it is powered up. does anybody know how to fix this issue?? any help would be great! i googled everything that i could think of and tried everything that was suggested but nothing works! thanks in advance!!

Contradictory. Is it in download mode or isn't it?
You did not say what was being flashed with Odin, either.
Phones do not boot into ODIN. You will have to provide more info so we can help.
Links to the ROM or software you used etc.
ok i shouldve explained this a little more clearly. when i power on the phone it says this...
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-T999
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (10 COUNTS)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
so i pulled the battery, put it in download mode (vol down + home + power) ran ODIN3, and tried to flash SGH-T999_TMB_T999UVALH2_T999TMBALH2_Original (which is a stock image) thats when it gets stuck at the NAND write start!!
I could be completely wrong but it appears you tried to install an incompatible rom.
are you talking about the SGH-T999_TMB_T999UVALH2_T999TMBALH2_Original file?

If I understand correctly you flashed that after the first one. I'm not a IT guy, but to the best of my understanding if you flash a ROM intended for another device you are going to have major issues. Sorry. I know my answers are not what you are looking for. I am trying to give you a heads up for your friends phone.
well i am trying to flash the correct firmware for his tmobile S3.

Welcome to the forum! Your phone's hardly bricked if you can get to download and recovery modes. Flashing the correct (stock) firmware should get you back to working conditions. What Android version were you on prior to it being stuck and what were you trying to upgrade to?

i747M is for the Canadian and Mexican variants. If you were on stock 4.1.2, you should be able to Odin back to stock 4.1.1 or upgrade to 4.3 via custom recovery. You can go to the thread below to check the correct stock image for your phone based on carrier. Make sure you use the correct image as flashing the wrong version could hard brick your phone. Download to your PC and then flash. If you select the 4.3 version, you would need to flash custom recovery to your phone via Odin, save the file to a (micro) SD card and then flash via custom recovery.

Let me know if this works for you.

If we are going to flash a stock ROM, we would need to flash the correct version as there is risk of a worse brick if we flash the wrong one. When the phone was working normally, the old network would probably be showing during booting. If you got it from abroad, please check if you can get the information from the previous owner. If there is no way of telling the correct firmware, then you can flash custom recovery to the phone and try flashing a custom ROM via recovery. It's always tidier flashing a custom ROM to a device functioning normally but, unless we can be sure of the correct stock firmware to flash, your options may be limited.

I've seen this particular problem reported several times and it's always been a problem with the pit file. Flashing a complete stock system should fix all partition problems though. If the stock file you are using is an Odin flashable file, you may try using Odin 3.09. Otherwise, I'd suggest you find a recovery flashable image and flash via (custom) recovery.

What bootloader is on your phone? If you don't know, boot into download mode and look for a reference to warranty bit. If you see something about warranty bit, that means you have at least a 4.3 bootloader and you can't flash a stock ROM unless the ROM was compiled for flashing in Odin.
If you have at least the 4.3 bootloader, I suggest flashing Philz Touch custom recovery via Odin. Copy a CM10.2 or early CM11 ROM onto an external SD card, boot into recovery, and flash the ROM. This will at least get you phone running to determine exactly which bootloader and baseband are on your phone.
I'm not sure what bootloader I was on, I think it was mjb software . I assume I was on the latest and I tried to flash a previous version and now my phone is hard bricked. I bought a jig on eBay and it should come early this week. I guess what my next question is, is if I can get into download mode using the jig, what software would I need to flash using Odin 3.09.
Sorry I'm kinda new to Odin and the gs3 flashinng so I'm not familiar with it (I also have a nexus 5 so I'm used to using fastboot). Could someone post what files I need to get my gs3 back in order assuming I can get into download mode?
Thank you for all of your help, it sucks having a bricked phone and not really knowing how to fix it.
Does your phone turn on at all? If not, a jig probably won't help.
It does but doesnt turn on. When i hold the power button nothing happens and it does not vibrate. But when i plug it into the computer the usb sound goes off and the red led comes on (Charging phone LED). Do you think a jig will help?
When you connect the phone, what does it say in device manager? Of it says something like qusb load, it may be hard bricked.

When i plug it into the computer it shows up as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM7)"
Does that mean im screwed? Is there anything I can do?
Since the phone will not go into download or recovery, you may have to have it jtagged. Before doing that, did you try to de-brick it?
This may help too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068

Where to download stock Rom beside sammobile

Hi
I managed to brick my T800. I have twrp but I can't get into recovery mode. I can get into down load mode, though. So I'm trying to flash a rom with Odin but down load from sammobile is taking forever. I'm afraid the logo will burn in. (I can't turn it off either, it wants to reboot)
Is there done place else where I can get a rom I can flash with Odin?
Thanks
