[Q] Support for Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 - Paranoid Android Q&A

Does ParanoidAndroid officially support GT-I9100 and continue to develop ROMS for this device?
I do not see any updates for PA in the ROM repository and neither is it listed in PA's Device registry (G+ link below)
http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/
G+ Device Registry
However, I found an update 3.99 RC2 in another repository also an xda-developer
http://goo.im/devs/nims11/PA-i9100
I have tried it and it looks cool, I would just like to know if it is an official build and if so why is it not listed in any of PA's directories?

It's not currently official.
With the fresh start after the 4.4 release we will probably make a post for developers who wish to be listed as official maintainers. They would get access to upload their builds to our directories and we'll try to provide an official maintainers list (devices/developer/xda thread).

lol.. its weird.. and sad at the same time that PA offers support for I9000 but not I9100, oh well. I am very thankful to nims11 for providing the release. And thankyou for your quick response. I appreciate that.

The thing is support for these devices are voluntary. The core team builds for nexus devices and the oppo 5, these are the devices that we own. As such we rely on other developers to port builds to other popular devices. Chances are most of the unofficial builds are the same ones that become official (it's really just a title and a access to our server)

Good day sir, Please I'll like to ask if there is any rom with inter-device, I mean multiple device compatibility? If not I'll like to request for procedures to create a compatible update with my device (Tecno N3) . It has the same specifications as Samsung galaxy s2.
Thanks for your usual help.

There aren't any builds available that would work on multiple devices. While your devices basic specs may be the same as the Samsung galaxy S2, internally it could be vastly different (especially as it's not manufactured by the same company).
If you are willing to try compiling yourself, try following the guide provided here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863547

I can support this device need local_mainifest.xml to compile it

What is Guardian Rom?
Guardian ROM is a custom android ROM multiple devices. The ROM is completely Open Source and based off of the CM10.1. While this build is stable because it's based on CM10.1 it is a preview so please expect some bugs, & missing features (i.e updater).
What Features does Guardian Rom have?
Kernel is hardened with SecDroid Tweaks.
ROM is patched with and includes OpenPdoird for
permissions management.
Guardian Project apps are pre-installed – These include Orbot (Tor), Gibberbot (Secure IM),
and more.
CSSimple and OStel (https://guardianproject.info/wiki/Ostel) are included as replacements to the
built calling apps. providing encrypted communications.
If encryption is enabled and password is entered wrong 10 times the phone wipes user data.

How to use:
Simply flash the flashable zip through your favorite custom recovery. (TWRP is recommended as it supports encrypted devices). Once flashed you should enable Full Disk Encryption by doing the following (may very depending on device):
Code:
Settings --> Security ---> Password [enter a strong 8-16 char password]
Than
Code:
Settings --> Security ---> Encryption --> Enable Encryption
Downloads:Downloads are over here.
Please verify the downloaded file with the attached GPG signature to ensure is is a legit copy.
GAPPS
Google Apps are NOT included and before you flash them you may want to read this article.
UPDATES:
Since this is a preview I have not had a chance to remove or modify the CM Updater. Please do NOT use it as you will be flashing a stock CM10.1 build and not Guardian Rom. This will be fixed shortly.
always been curious about this rom, so I may give this a whirl! thanks for the hard work!
Any reviews?

Since these NSA Android stories are rolling out there might be more traffic coming this way.
SAMSUNG S4
Will this be available for an unbranded international S2, GT-I9100 ?
I am currently trying out CM10.1 and installed most of the included apps manually, but there is a problem with encryption and updating the nightlies and CWM, so I'd like to try out Guardian Rom.

Those stories are FUD. Don't believe them. The only code the NSA put in android is SeLinux which hardens android. It's opensource and has been in linux for years.

Not for now. Nexus device get primary support as they have an AOSP Source tree.
A very worthwhile effort. I wish I would own one of the supported devices to see how it goes.
I hope that more developers will start to put liberty and privacy into Android.
Keep up the good work.

More is coming soon. Guardian Rom is going to be on more device soon, We have a working once-click installer for all supported devices at this point, easy setup for Full Disk Encryption and Deniable Encryption, Policy Management and more. We are about to launch for a round of funding so stay tuned. Things are going to get exciting.

To be honest, I hope these guys are okay. Privacy rights are important and these guys are also helping protect whistle blowers. Given that, I hope they haven't been whisked away to a black site. Yeah, that's a paranoid statement but not outside the realm of possibility.

Looked into this project earlier. You can't find a dl link for jflte because it's only currently got beta release for the nexus line. The guy has a page on Kickstarter trying to raise 35 thousand dollars to support development. He promises to make a stable build and support more devices only if his 35k support fund is together by april 30th. Don't think it's gonna happen bc he's only at 1500.

Official support from CyanogenMod Team for Galaxy W

i read something in the net while i was surfing yesterday, you can look here: http://www.androidcentral.com/motorola-atrix-hd-gets-official-cyanogenmod-support
and then reading these lines made me surprised(maybe getting official cyanogenmod support for ancora is impossible after this moment but who kowns?)
If an Android device has enough of a following, and there are developer(s) willing to commit (no pun intended) to maintaining the device in the official CyanogenMod source tree, this device becomes officially supported -- and receives official builds of the CyanogenMod ROM.
if someone be maintainer for our device can we get official support from CyanogenMod?
is this really possible?
ı mean our device source code are available in github(kernel source device source and vendor files)
maybe forking our device source into CyanogenMod source tree can make this possible or am ı wrong??
maybe this is a bulsh*it after this moment but just wondering
for example galaxy s is getting official support from Cyanogenmod still if im not mistaken mr. pawit is their maintainer and developer
ım waiting your answers brothers what do you think about that? @arco68 @arsradu @LeroViten @honeyx and all ancora devs
with my best regards :good:
The SGW was for more than 3 years without official CM support and we didn´t miss anything, so I don´t think this is that much important for the rest of it´s counted days.

ı understood bro but is there any hope for galaxy w? return of ancora :good: and also ı understood that from your comment : technically this is possible, galaxy w can get official support from CM Team but this is unnecessary for this dead device isnt it?
I simply don´t think this will happen because you have to look from their point of view.
1. this device is a low activity device in Amercian terms. 2. So never was that popular to get their attention. 3. is already old and not up to date. 4. It´s hype time is almost over and many earlier SGW users are going to replace it. 5. CM is going a different route now and will be focusing on their "device" they are going to launch soon. And finally 6. Why should they change this now after already 3 years?
So if I were CM I would look for the future not looking back to the past with it´s outdated devices and not even waste a single tought about devices like the SGW.
Is this bad for the SGW owners? As long we are having Devs like Radu who are porting the latest ROMs to this device it really doesn´t matter CM is supporting it officially or not supporting it.
So what do you expect from being supported by CM? You only would be able to install the latest nightlys launched by the CM team with all the bugs in the CM code included and maybe some day fixed. A Dev who is porting their CM sources of course has to fight with these bugs too, but also cares to fix the most important ones.
I asked arco68 a while ago, and he said it's because of legacy camera drivers that we are unsupported.

auhh thats true sir arne is right as always anyway thanx man for informing us
regards :good:
I don't think so...anyway, we already have the stable n smooth ROM so far. Without Officail, it's does not matter at all.
Hello sir @arco68
First of all huge thanx for your great work on our Wonders
And secondly i wonder something
We are using s5k4ecgx sensor for back camera
And if we add the following patches and if we use v4l2 for camera driver, Can we use CAF based qcom cameraHAL?
And probably if we use new qcom cameraHAL, then we wont need legacy stuff the CM doesnt like(MemoryHeapBase,Overlay)
Then maybe we can get cm nightlies
Maybe porting new camera Hal to our phone can be hard but we must not give up. We are so close to official CM after ION i think. We can do it and we can success :good:
Thanx
Regards

Build an ROM from source code for lenovo a3000
how to make rom from source code?
This is what we need, developers! It would be epic if we could get together and make a good ROM because Lenovo's ROM is terrible! We need to grab the attention of big custom ROMs like CyanogenMod and Pac-ROM.
I really hope we can make something for this tablet!

[Q] Official Cyanogen Mod rom. How soon?

Hello, everyone!
Dunno if it was asked before or is it thу right place to ask this, but anyway:
Is CM team going to release official CM rom? May be even someone know how soon it will be? I don't like samsung stock rom because of the bloatware it has, but I think I am not the only one.
Thanks in advance!

I've never quite figured out why people get so hung up on "official"... When there is an official build of CM, it will still be me maintaining it and the only differences will be that:
* you'll get nightly and M builds which makes them more frequent
* you'll get slower device specific updates to the core software (right now I change it and build it, when it's official it can take weeks to get a change in the frameworks approved and you won't see it until it's approved).
that said, it will be official but doing so takes effort from me and from other people that are very busy and so all I can say is it isn't official yet.

Actually before creating this thread I saw your "unofficial" build thread and checked your profile to see if you are somehow connected to CM dev team, but you have no information in your profile. I don't like unofficial builds because often they have something tuned\installed\uninstalled, but I like how CM works and I don't want anything else, this is why I want official build. But in this case I think I should try your build, as you maintain official ones anyway.
Thanks for clarifying this!

Not necessarily having visibility into any framework changes I've made is a pretty reasonable concern. There's only one change that I have already submitted for review so nothing too magical going on behind the scenes. Everything else is available in my public git repos for anyone to verify.
Most of the time official builds start out as unofficial builds. At least that's what I've noticed.

No offense but you're the 3rd one to release a rom that has the exact same source as the original CM13 thread, and all others have been shutted down. You should invest your time helping the main branch fixing their stuff instead of dividing everybody. Releasing a ROM that is exactly the same with a different name is a total lack of respect to those who really worked hard to make this happen, plus your sources are not even public :/

I'm pretty sure it's an XDA rule to publish the source of every rom/kernel. Otherwise it could contain malware/keylogger or could be fake. I took a look at SLIM's github and i didn't see anything related to the S6.
Dude you dont get it. According to XDA you should publish a source for the kernel and I did. Go ahead with the link I posted and it will direct you to the kernel source. It is not necessary that the kernel should belong to Slim.
I see no official source on your GitHub. Is this just a rebrand of CM 13 for S6?
