possible root - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

anyone know if the galaxy note 3 root method will work on this tablet?? they seem the same, note 3 root method gets passed knox. any one tried it??

beanstown isworking on something. I believed he ported root de la vega to one of the gn3 versions. maybe for this device now. I'm gonna install the cust recovery since I don't care too much about knox.

[Q] Root Note 3 without tripping KNOX counter?

So I wanted to install the volume mod on my T-Mobile Note 3. I was looking into rooting it but if I trip the KNOX counter my warranty will be void and with the research I've done there is no way to reset the Note 3 KNOX counter. But I found this video on YouTube. I can't post the link to the video due to he fact that I'm a new member, but I have it. So.if someone would like to investigate I'm willing to give it out.
Please let me know what you guys think cause I don't wanna void my warranty. Thanks so much! Amazing site by the way!
If you are talking about the DeLaVega method, yes that will root without tripping Knox. To flash the volume mod though, you need a custom recovery like TWRP. Flashing TWRP will trip the Knox counter
Also keep in mind according to this Root De La Vega thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46818366
Samsung has caught on and has started patching bootloaders, you can still root, but you will trip KNOX.
If you are running MJ4, MJ7, MK1, MK2 or higher you can still root, but you will trip KNOX!

I assumed he meant flashing Jovy23's volume mod which is a flashable zip file. It's a waste of everyone's time to read your post unless you post info so the OP can do what you suggest and solve his low volume problem without root.
Is there other method for MJ7 device to root without tripping knox?

I have been using Poweramp for over a year, and it works flawlessly. It doesn't require root, and you can not only use EQ, pre-amp(db +/-), bass, treble, stereox, but you can also create custom settings for earphones, bluetooth, phone speaker, etc. I highly recommend, as it is only $4.99 for lif, and you can transfer to as many devices as you wish

So does this mean I could flash a custom recovery, rom, kernel, mods and knox won't be tripped?

No. You could never flash a custom recovery without tripping knox. But you can still root without tripping knox, if you're still on m17. By "patched" they meant that Samsung patched the hole that allowed people to root without tripping knox.

I'm guessing no one has successfully been able to protect root through an OTA update? I know it's been done for minor updates before, but I'd assume going to Kitkat is quite a bit more than that.

[Q] [Help]Sprint S4 Mini latest update root

I cannot get my sprint S4 Mini to root using kingo app. KNOX pops up and says unauthorized access or something like that. My first phone I had from sprint would root using kingo app. But I had to get a replacement and it came with the "WiFi Calling" update or whatever. How can I get it to root now?

If the device in question is indeed the mini.. Your Op has the wrong model number for the sprint version. Starts with L- not I and I think that's what was thrown off. However, don't use Kingo these days you must search. It's in here I'll check.

The only fix is for someone to create a way to root via odin that bypasses knox, and since nobody cares about this phone, that's not happening any time soon. It's already been EOL'd so it's not going to gain any traction. I just returned mine. Not worth having at this point.
Root Works
I got mine rooted today after coming back to stock from custom ROM. I have my KNOX Tripped which i dont care about and if you dont care about tripping it either ill let ya know how i did it. LMK
Do tell. I just ordered a return kit to send mine back. If I know I can root it after each update, I might keep it.

You have to flash a custom Recovery via Odin. This will Trip KNOX to 0X1! Here is a link to the file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3d1q1dzelglf093/recovery.tar.md5
Once you have flashed the recovery reboot into Recovery and install from ZIP. the zip file you need to flash is. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xpoc279um1b6uf9/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94%5B1%5D.zip
Once that is complete reboot and go to SuperSU App and Bam you are rooted.

The recovery was used from S0be's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2669991. I used his recovery-serranoltespr_cwm_based_6.0.4.7.img link and converted to MD5.
I just got a used one in the mail today that was already on NA7 and factory reset it just to be safe. So we can now root even on NA7?
Any chance of bricking it using the custom recovery?
Possible but not probable. The only issue we have now I believe is no NA7 tar to fall back on.

Rooted stock rom?

I've been trying to find a stock rooted rom that I can use so I won't trip Knox. Does one exist? I don't care about fancy stuff, the stock rom works for what I do, I just want to use my titanium to freeze a few apps and run my hot spot app to get around the tmo tether cap.

Not entirely true, it doesnt trip it if your still on 4.3. If your on 4.4.2 there isnt any way of not tripping KNOX when rooting.
I know in my Note 2/S4 days mrRobinson used to make prerooted stock roms. Not sure if its even possible any more.

Oh okay. Well that's good to know, since I haven't looked into rooting since way back when I did it. But even then flashing a ROM trips it anyways also.
I went and got mobile Odin pro as it said it can root the rom while it's being flashed. And than read that the phone has to be rooted to install it. Thanks for the replies. If I can't find something in the next 2 weeks I'll start searching custom roms for something stockish.

[Q] Should I purchase the Wifi Note 10.1?

I'm coming from a Nexus 10 which is dying soon (bad motherboard) and was looking at getting a Wifi 32gb Note 10.1. But I have a few questions for the seasoned pros here :cyclops:
How smoothly does the Note 10.1 run on the latest firmware? (I'm assuming Kitkat)
If the stock firmware isn't silky smooth, is there anything I can do to fix it?
Are all the HMP problems with the Exynos 5420 fixed yet?
Any way to root the tablet without voiding warranty?

smooth. have noticed no hangups or stutters or anything like that — i gotta say that TouchWiz in KK has been much less crappy than i thought it would be. YMMV depending on your apps. that said, i'm coming from an Asus TF700, which was a complete POS, and the Note 10.1 (2014) has been a dream in comparison.

they weren't problems so much as frustrations that Samsung decided in its wisdom not to enable it for this tablet. it runs fine out of the box with KK without HMP.
Oh and will rooting void the warranty?
Yes. Rooting will cause the KNOX bit to change. KNOX bit is detecting any non KNOX kernels. And once you do that, it fires.
But we are still not sure whether it will cause warranty issues. IMHO It's just a safe assumption right now. I am happy without rooting my device.

can you please share the method of rooting our note 10.12014 edition without trippin knox?
For the Sanpdragon variant SM-P605 there is a method called de la vega.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2501700
Reportedly they have been able to do it without tripping the KNOX bit. The method was ported from Note 3 to Note 10.1-14 (605).
But for Exynos variant i.e. WiFi version P600. The method is Chain Fire's AutoRoot.

This was exactly my understanding as well. I'd love to be able to root mine without blowing the fuse and I don't care about installing a different ROM, I just want root access.
There must be some misunderstanding here because this is literally the only reference I have found on the web in six months of looking, to being able to root a P600 without blowing the fulse.

Is it possible to flash a Tmobile firmware to a Verizon Note7?
