[Q] Where is USB debugging on this device? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hey,
I am having a hard time finding USB debugging on this device in the settings. I am not sure if I am looking at the right spot. Can any of you guys help please?

Developer options are hidden now in Android. Go to Settings, About, click on build number 7 times. After that you're a developer

But that is f-ing retarded....why in gods name would they do that? anyway... thanks for posting that, I was tearing my hair out!

Google hid it few releases ago so an average Android user cannot mess up. I think messages are funny when you're "becoming" a developer

this has never happened to me before...now i cant seem to find developers options in settings. shouldnt it be under the system tab way at the bottom? i want to turn on usb debugging but the options isnt in the settings any more. should i just reinstall?
Go into settings tap build number several times and it will bring up dev. options

I was in the same boat as few days ago. If you go to about phone, build. Tap repeatedly on build and it will count down. Basically just tap on it and you can follow the directions. Let me know if you are confused, I will help you out.

Yes you can hide it again. Go to Dev Option and you have a swich on top-right.

Anybody Find the Easter Egg hidden in 10.1? Click on other things in the same menu 7 times. See what happens.
This feels stupid, the developer options shouldn't be hidden behind an easter egg especially when things like the reboot menu aren't accessible without it.
When I have time, I'll submit a patch that does something more sensible but still hides the dev menu from typical users.

The only other thing is by hitting the build 7 times opens up the jellybean Easter egg. This has been in every single android version since froyo.

We'll there's also the easter egg for cyanogenmod where if you tap the CM version you get cid's head and then if you hold his head you get Cid heads instead of jelly beans flying around
Suprised...

I was starting my foray into android development and google site tells me : Go To Settings > Developer .... blah but in my Cyangenmod this wasnt available .. I Panicked! .. Thankfully a google search brought me here and the solution is really funny!! I didnt believe it would work initially!! but ..it works wow ...
I wonder why Cyanogenmod Dev would hide this ?

Seriously, this has been out for a very long time. Its not CM, its Google which Designed Android Code to disable Developer options out the door. Ask any of the Nexus Users.
This is just another Easter Egg just like you get the Mini-Game (of Sorts ) if you hit Android version rapidly several times.

Guys, could anybody make the Stay Awake mode for HTC One ?
It was included in older genuine ROM but now is removed by HTC - why

There is a setting to have the screen all the time OR
A.) When plugged into a USB port (<2amp)
B.) When plugged into a charging cable (>2amp)
It DOES do what you want.

Keep Device Awake
Hi OP. I'm using an app called "Widgetsoid" to create widgets to turn on & off the wifi, bluetooth etc etc.
One of its options include -> "keep device awake" (keeps screen on during charging).
And if the widget is deleted, the "keep device awake" is still activated.
Oh well. works for me!
i wonder if its possible for paul to add it to modaco tools apk
i was looking everywhere for this option when i was setting up my one the first time
It is there under Developer Options. If Dev Options isn't showing in your settings menu go to Settings>About>Software Information>More and click repeatedly on the Build Number. Watch the toast messages and eventually you will see a message that says 'Congratulations, you are now a developer!'. Dev Options will now be enabled in the Settings menu and in there you will find the Stay Awake (while charging) option.

I wish all developers would at the very least create a thread in the development thread linking to their 3rd party site for their ROM. I'm not a fan of having to go to multiple sources to get a ROM.
i agree. since we might not see a thread I thought id post.

One question: Upon installing, everything comes up on the screen smaller than usual. I'm sure there's a fix. Can you shed any light?
Thanks again!

Hah, I like that everything is "smaller than usual".
The LCD density is set to 361 by default in this build. To change it: Settings > Interface > LCD Density. Default for this phone is 480 (which I find to be *way* too big).

Everyone makes fun of me for the tiny font sizes I use. I am taking advantage of the Lasik surgery I got 12 years ago is all.
BTW, standard densities: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/util/DisplayMetrics.html#DENSITY_DEFAULT

I can't change the LCD density because the ROM thinks I'm not rooted. Installing SU and updating the binaries didn't fix it. Finding root access fails. I was coming from CM 10.2.

"Take Wearable Screenshot" option missing

check that. that's for general lollipop release.
the api was included. it wasn't included as part of the overall OS:
Screen capturing and sharing
Android 5.0 lets you add screen capturing and screen sharing capabilities to your app with the new android.media.projection APIs. This functionality is useful, for example, if you want to enable screen sharing in a video conferencing app.
The new createVirtualDisplay() method allows your app to capture the contents of the main screen (the default display) into a Surface object, which your app can then send across the network. The API only allows capturing non-secure screen content, and not system audio. To begin screen capturing, your app must first request the user’s permission by launching a screen capture dialog using an Intent obtained through the createScreenCaptureIntent() method.
For an example of how to use the new APIs, see the MediaProjectionDemo class in the sample project.
