Red and blue dots on screen - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Just noticed red and blue dots on the screen of my Nexus 7.. Wondering how they got there and if I can remove them or if it will take a rma
(picture didn't show it all)

That actually looks like LCD burn. My HTC desire is suffering from that. The blue dot is confusing me a bit though. If I were you, definitely RMA it. It will not go away.

This made its way to my Nexus 7 too a week ago , only red and much smaller.. wasn't there before , really have no idea why this happened.

Same here,
Even bigger blue and red blotches. Visible only on highest brightness and black background. I found them with the "Dead Pixel Test".
Should I send it for repair?

same here.
A big Blue splotch visible on the highest brightness in black towards the top right , and a faint red splotch in the middle of the screen. May RMA it but, it will probably have to go back to ASUS for a long time as I bought it from Currys in the UK.

I think I'll end up rmaing mine I just hate how long it will take..
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4

Mine has a blue spot and it was there from day one. It's very small and I never see it unless on a black screen in a dark room. But I have an rma that I ordered on Saturday so hopefully it ships tomorrow. Didn't rma for the blue dot btw. Paid for 2 day shipping so I'm hoping to have it by the end of the week. I don't mind waiting as I get to use my current n7 till I get my new one. So I don't see not rmaing because of how long it will take. The only downfall with doing an RMA is that they will put a hold for the full amount of the tablet plus tax. They offer free 3-5 day free shipping and the hold will fall off usually within a 5 days to a week depending on your bank or card issuer.

Asus screwed up with the 7inch ips on the nexus
Asus obviously messed something up on this device's screen because mine has several red and blue dots as well and a dead pixel as too, I don't think I can RMA it as i have flashed cyanogenmod to it before noticing, can I?

Same here, blue only. And only visible on the Google startup screen, likely cause it's all black.

Just got it on my. Only can see it when I close the web. I wonder if I could replace it through Best Buy. Or through Asus

Just spoken with Asus who asked if I'd set it back to factory setting . told him its nothing to do with software. Going to rma it

Wonder what the manufacture date of those defective units are. I just RMAd my n7 LTE bought new in November 2013 for this very issue. My replacement was manufactured in November 2013. Haven't had any issues *yet* and also the touchscreen bug is gone.

Mine has one blue dot and some light protrusion on the sides. I'm not sure if it's as big as the one in the first picture but it's definitely visible on dark (especially black) backgrounds...

Asurion SUCKS!!!

SO on a trade from a member, I found that my new trade has pink hue on the right hand side that will not go away with any kernel or calibrating. So I called Asurion payed my deductible and was all excited until I received my new device. IT WAS HORRIBLE. there was a pin size peace of glass missing on the right hand side there was scratches all along the bottom like had been rubbed with sand paper, and to top it off the screen was purple and had scratches everywhere. So there sending me a new one. I love how they have a 68 point inspection approved stamp on the side of the box. ASURION SUCKS!!!!!!!!

And that's why I don't use them anymore. Seriously. Save that money and you'll have enough to buy a used device off eBay.

yeah i dont know why i did it i just found a new screen replacement on ebay for 80 bucks damn !!!
Back in late July I had a cracked screen, paid my deductible...the replacement I got had no working ear speaker...useless...so they overnight a second unit...this one can't hold a signal and drops calls/data every 20 seconds...garbage...so I call Verizon even though it's not their issue...they can't figure it out, but they do get Asurion on a third line and work out them shipping me a third unit BNIB...so after about 3 days I was set...for my troubles they threw in a car charger...I do have 3 extra batteries now and 3 extra backs also
Seriously may reconsider this if I even stay on post paid...
so i got my new galaxy nexus to day and its brand new!!!!! had all the plastic on it and there is not refurbished sticker on the back of the phone very happy, i did notice that at full brightness it is alot dimmer than my other one?
Is it made in China? I've been reading that the GNex that's made in China is more likely to have problems than the GNex made in Korea

New Phone, New Style

I just got my replacement phone from Sprint and there are some things that are different from the phone that I got at Radio Shack in July. The pictures were taken with my old S2, which is now my mom's so that's why it has a pink care.
First, the colors of the phone are different. The new phone is more of a grayish color. The replacement phone is on the left and the old phone is on the right.

Next, the power buttons have different sized icons and again you can see the color difference. New phone on top old one on bottom.
Finally, the home buttons are completely different. The new one is a purplish color and is long and short while the old one is a gray color and is short and tall. The new one is on the left and the old one is on the right.
Also, the buttons are much more clicky and I like that, but they squeak sometimes.
So, which phone do you have?
I got the exact one you got in July. Also got my at launch .I think they changed a few things because the pebble blue was in such demand and they couldn't keep up with production and probably used a third party to help. Which is why some are different .

lol
I got the white phone so I don't know
There was some cosmetics issues that kept appearing in the original pebble(the one you previously had) and Samsung fixed those issues with the next pebble blue(the one you have now).

Hahaha..
It must've been pretty shortly after the main production where they switch the color. I bought my phone maybe a month or 2 months after lunch and it too also has more of a gray appearance like the replacement you received. However I'll be getting that phone replaced because it's dead now so make sure to let you know what my replacement looks like.

I've used it for about a week now and I like it a lot better. The screen seems to also be improved. My other phone had scratches all over it after the first week and this one still looks brand new. The only complaint I have is the squeaky buttons.

White bright spot on the screen

I've noticed a few days ago that on my G Pad a white spot has appeared on the lower left side of the screen.
I've never seen it and I'm almost sure that is not something there from day one (I would have noticed since then)
Here you can see some photos. It may seems small and hard to spot but if I scroll a page with a white background I can notice it immediately. This happens only with the white, with all the other colors I can't see it.
Do you what it is? A little damage on the screen or some problem that I can resolve with the warranty?

I don't know what it is but my first G Pad did this after about 3 months, had a refund and bought another. That is now, after 4 months use, away being repaired for the same issue. Both had 3 or 4 spots or small patches, as you say, they become obvious when you scroll a mainly white screen but are tricky to photograph.

So it seems to be something related to the LCD technology, doesn't it? Something that could happen after some usage, right?

Wow... What are you going to do? Try with the lg customer service or keep it?
Do you think that maybe a new model (or ours fixed) is going to show the same issue after some time?
I have the same issue! And it's not all: it's the second G Pad with the same issue!
I buy the first, then when I see the the problem I went to an LG service which change the old one with a new, but the new one has the same issue...plus a dead pixel
No I haven't contacted lg regarding this issue, I brought it five months ago. I think am just going to keep it as it nothing too major.

I have got the same issue. One white spot in the middle of screen and four spots on a corner. I noticed them after 3-4 months after the purchase. Frankly, I am going to wait a few weeks before contacting LG service. Maybe someone has already discussed the problem with lg customer service?

I sent my G Pad to store where I buy it. Them have sent it to an LG center.....after two months my G Pad came back with a only a firmware reset, because for LG the problem doesn't exist or it's not enough to be repaired...
I've had a similar issue and within 2 weeks the Tab came back with a new screen - without the bright spot, without thin blue line and without any lightbleeding.

My G Pad was away for this problem for about 10 days and has come back without the white spots on screen. There's no obvious sign of how they do the repair (good!) - paperwork says replacement display.
This was in the UK, it was about 4 months old and I contacted the retailer who contacted LG, who agreed the repair (I had to send photos) and arranged for a courier to take it to the repair centre. The new panel seems to be a bit pink but maybe the old one was too !
Oh well, the new, replaced display has a dead pixel too. It looks really tiny, almost as it is just one pixel, so I don't think the retailer will repair it Honestly, I won't go buy any other LG device in the future.
I don't know if I'll buy another LG product in the future, but I'll keep in my mind this bad experience...
I tried to bring my Gpad to a LG Repair Center. I hope that the defect will be resolved
let us know!
meanwhile a lamp (I think) related to illumination doesn't work anymore
here a photo that show the issue, right between two fingers

I have 2 of them ( one on each side )
But besides them, no other issues so far.

Strange Smudging Under Screen

My advice? Don't bother getting into the exchange game. I have been through 4 Note 5's for different issues. Every single one of them had this issue in sunlight. Each one was in different spots but they all had this issue. Like others have said, it's just a part of amoled.

One had a loose home button, one had a dead pixel and the first I exchanged because of this screen issue because I didn't know it was normal at first. So I'm on my 4th one.

Yea every iPhone I have ever owned never had an issue like this so I am seriously considering switching back to Apple.
To be honest I do not think this is normal as I watched a lot of videos and reviews and no mention of this issue. I also can not find mention anywhere of an AMOLED doing this. The only mention was in dark on a black screen there are some lines and such.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
I haven't noticed this problem on my Note 5, or any of my previous-model Notes. On the other hand, I don't really see it in your photo either, so maybe I'm just not observant enough.
Just took the phone back today. The rep from Samsung said that is in no way normal for AMOLED. I got a replacement we took it outside and the screen is beautiful. No ugly smudging anymore!

Crooked screen on brand new Huawei watch

So I got my brand new sealed Huawei watch this morning for Christmas and absolutely love it. However after tinkering and setting it up I noticed the watch face was slightly turned left.... Anyone else see this??
My options now I think are to, call Huawei directly and get a replacement. Or I go to local best buy, buy one, swap the actual watch and return. I can't return from purchaser since it was a gift etc etc rabble rabble..

Call me unethical but I would probably go the Best Buy route. Obviously just return it in the Best Buy box so the numbers match on the box. They may only have the leather band version, but obviously just swap the band too. If you go the Huawei direct route you are sure to get a return / refurb.
I just got myself one for Christmas. I went with BH Photo. $309, no tax, free overnight shipping. I threw on the same watch face that you have on yours in the photo and mine is dead on. Yours is definitely off.
