EU to US Adapter and how do I check if I'm geting LTE or hspa? - Xperia Z1 Accessories

So mine finally came in but apparently I have a EU charger, the ebay seller was kind enough to send a cheap adapter from china (bad quality)
What I want to buy is a genuine or a safe brand to use for me charge my phone.
What I'm looking for is a US plug that you plug in to with the USB docking station.
Would my iphone us plug work with the usb docking station or is it a bad idea? I just don't want to use cheap china ones that could burn down my house
Random question, how do you know if you are on 3g, hspa or lte? where in the settings can I find it

@btort1
Go to settings/more/mobile networks and you'll see "network mode" for choosing mobile connections mode.
I would recommend to buy Sony accessories for your phone.
But if I were you I would rather use iPhone adapter then some cheap and suspicious adapter or chargers - that could be very expensive

Quick look on the us sony store
http://store.sony.com/chargers-cables-batteries/cat-27-catid-All-Phones-Chargers-Cables
As for mobile network type ... When connected for data the signal strength indicator also tells you what type of network you're connected to.
it'll be either R (roaming), E (edge), 3G, H (HSPA) or LTE (some software versions say 4G)

A question to U.S. Americans with the unlocked (european) Touch Pro2's

Non of the Touch Pro2's I've seen sell with a U.S. charger or atleast they don't say so. Where did you guys buy your U.S. house charger for your Touch Pro2?

it charges by USB in your laptop or desktop, and the same charger you use with your X1 will work on the TP2, it is a very common charger, you can get it anywhere.
Check the markings on the TP2 charger. If the input says:
100-240V
then you have a worldwide/multi-voltage charger (like those used by notebooks) and all you need then is an plug adapter to plug into your wall socket - it will adjust to US voltage automatically.
PS. My TP2 charger supports multiple voltages, as are all chargers that came with older HP/O2/Dopod/HTC PDAs/phones I own.
I found these at ebay. Are these the one you are talking about? These ( charger & Cable) are the same that came in the HTC box.
You can buy them in the HTC store: http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=179160

i wonder why htc doesn't have an official store in US ..
Doesnt it use a standard HTC mini-usb, so wouldnt a Tilt/Fuze (touch pro) charger work with it? Might be able to find that in a cell shop or Best Buy.
your right. I use my fuze wall charger and my old razr car charger. It's just the mini usb plug
Any old HTC chargers you have will work fine. RAZR chargers not too well. The HTC chargers output 1A while the RAZR chargers I believe are less than 500mA. They will charge the phone, but slowly.
Many chargers use the standard mini USB (type A) plug alright, but, unlike a standard USB port on a computer which churns out 500mA, they often generate more power for speedier charging - all Dopod/HTC chargers I have generate a 5V, 1A output. I don't have RAZR, so that's an exception
But, I think what poetryrocksalot is asking originally is that (and correct me if I'm wrong) he is worried the charger out-of-the-box won't work with US mains voltage since Europeans operate at a higher voltage than their friends across the Atlantic - it should work fine if the charger is a multi-voltage one.
are the plugs even the same?

No, but you can always use a simple plug adapter for that - on sale for less than US$3 where I am.

yea but then you have to plug more crap in, and remember the adapter when you travel lol. Oh well. Least there are plenty of online placed to buy the U.S. wall chargers.
I agree. If one doesn't travel beyond US or Canada, getting a US wall charger is more aesthetically pleasing in the long run.
mines came with a universal adaptor that allowed me to plug in here in the US... however, I can only get 2G... which means I'm sending it back to Hong Kong, where I got it from
I use this one with my European Universal
Anyway is a great tool to have for travelers!

The NAM 3g bands haven't been released in a Touch Pro 2. Once the AT&T and T-Mobile versions come out, you should be able to buy an unlocked one with the NAM 3g.

I bought one here if you like ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220685241015&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
It's about 2ft. and says its OEM Samsung. It does look like the cable that was in my t-mo Vibrant box only shorter.
Purchased on the Thur. 18th received Mon. 22nd.
Hope this helps
[deleted]
Monoprice.com sells them pretty cheaply but if you need one now, the T-Mobile stores (Limited / Corporate - not sure about the Kiosks) have an L-shaped USB DATA cable for $10.
BEWARE! Some USB cables are for charging only. It has come to my attention that certain stores such as Radio Shack, etc have been selling $20 USB cables that do charging only. This is likely not intentional, it's just due to inexperienced staff.
For example, this caused someone to come to me and ask why they couldn't mount their phone to their computer. Well, you can't if the cable doesn't support it. Make sure it's a data cable and it will do both before buying.

if you need one fast, try going to the tmobile store and ask if they have any extra vibrant usb cables (or any other micro usb cable) in the back. say you would pay for it,but u need it quick because your cat chewed yours up. usually they wont charge. worked everytime for me. i did it to get headphones and cables for 3 yrs =)
tmo has them for 15 bucks. just bought one the other day. it wa n the mytouch slide section - dont matter its the same cord.

Why do you want to do that. go to the market and by webshare and you can sync your phone with music and movies with all the gadget via wireless router.
I buy all kinds of USB cords off of Amazon. I bought 4 BB OEM cords for 60 cent a piece and they all shipped to tether for 2 bucks (they were only 3 feet though) . And I got a 6ft cable for 2bucks free shipping. I would try there first. I ordered them all on Monday got them by Wed. The Bb cords came from NJ not sure where the other one came from.

wondering if one could turn the phone display off while using this... but playback and other functions would still work the battery down to a nub very quickly of course
Not possible, the MHL adapter projects what's on your s3's screen, so your tv shows some nice black when you turn off the screen

Thanks for sharing! Been waiting such a long time for a cheap alternative. This still isn't as cheap as the generic 5pin MHL though...
Looking forward to an update before I jump on the wagon.
But a 5 pin won't work with GS3 unless you purchase another adapter.

Yeah, I knew that, I comparing the price to the generic 5pin MHL adaptor which we could use if samsung didn't decide to change to 11pin.
I guess it will never be as cheap since its a niche product for the S3.
This might sound silly but my TV doesn't have a HDMI port (it's pretty old but still slim)
Is there any other type of converters like scart to micro usb (sounds unlikely)

Same here. After doing some research it looks like an unbranded Samsung MHL adapter for the S3. The picture isn't clear enough to get the model number for comparison, but I'm pretty sure after looking at the FCC markings and other things that don't line up with the new S2 MHL adapter. :good:
Ordered it a few mins ago
This one's $20 shipped.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-MHL-T...063258?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f1c05845a
Looking forward to hearing feedback from someone who gets one of these generic adapters.
I spoke with Monoprice's customer service last week and they said they plan on having their own compatible S3 MHL cable before October. I'll probably wait until then as I know theirs will work and should be fairly cheap.
Down to $22 eh? Last I checked the knock-offs were $30, and the samsung official was $40 (now $35).
I'm going to get one of these 11pin mhl-hdmi cables when they finally drop down to $10 like the S2's is, mainly because the 5-to-11 adapter I'm using on my 5pin S2 cable is TOO WIDE for my incipio silicrylic case (and most others) so I have to bend the silicone down. So, fair warning about the adapter for the adapter
Has anybody received one of these from eBay yet? If so, how well does it work?
I've seen a few too many discussions regarding plugging in subpar adapters into these phones that have caused problems. So I may be a bit paranoid but I think I'll stick with official Samsung adapters. Good price though if it works.

Need new Samsung USB cable

Recently I lost my USB cable that was delivered with my GTI5800. Now I have to use a spare of my family but when they need it, I can't.
So I was searching for a place to buy a new stock USB, but can't really find it.
Can someone link me to a store that sells it, or does someone have a spare stock USB cable left?

G3 uses a micro usb cable. One of the most easiest available wires in the world after Ethernet cable. I have seen BB cables and they seem to be abit thinker than ours, but that shouldn't make any difference.
However if you want the orignal one, here's the link to Sammy's official website -

[Q] Wireless charging

How does the wireless charging work?
Are there any other charging base that can work with this moto 360?

You can find them by just searching Qi charger although your probably best sticking with Motorolas one.

My problem is that I travel a lot and I always forget chargers.
Thanks to the EU rule of using the microUSB through a lot of devices, I kind of solved my issue. I just carry one
Now this watch would mean another (different) charger, which is out of the questions. What I will look for is a general microUSB charger for all my devices which has PLUS an Qi charger.
Do you know of any?
p.s. thanks now will look for Qi chargers
I've tried it on my Choe qi charger and it works. However I haven't left it on there too long. Not sure if it's safe.
I used my Nokia DT-900 to charge my Moto 360, worked just fine...
Im now looking for a sale on a Qi equipped battery pack so that if I need to change it while on the go I can.
Get a Qi pluck charger.

HooToo has another smaller model. I selected the one I did because of its internal battery. Though I haven't used it off power much, so I may be changing my loadout as a result.
TP-Link has one also. Haven't used it. There may be more, but those are the ones I am familiar with.
I think the TP-Link is the smallest, so it might be my next acquisition. Will need to look into it more.

I bought netgear pr2000, let's see how it goes
It seems like the travel routers with battery packs can power themselves whereas the non-battery pack ones need an external power supply? Is this fair to say?
For use in a car or outdoor meeting place, the ability to create a little LWAN to file share between friends/colleagues would make battery ones would be necessary.
Unless I'm mistaken and they all require a power supply to broadcast wireless?
