No matter what, could you please add a meaningful and precise title to this thread? A thread with no title really doesn't help anything.

You can remove stuff like Xperia Link
This message was brought to you by my Sony Xperia M (C1905), using the XDA app.

Hi...
You can use titanium backup app. It can be used to back up apps. You can remove unwanted stock apps present. Its safe to back up n then remove apps.. hope this helps

Remove/Freeze Apps
You can definitely remove apps from your android device if its rooted. But there's a possibility that you might require those apps sometime in the future, so if space isint a problem for you, i'd advise you to freeze those apps. Freezing those apps can be done through LINK2SD app, which can be found in the play store. You can just click on the app select actions and select freeze. This will prevent the app from running/executing. But will remain installed on your phone. So its as good as "deleting" the app. But whenever required, you can just go back, and unfreeze the app and start using it from where you left it. This is a method i prefer more because you never know when you might need an app. And you needn't even reboot for changes to take effect.
If you're bent on uninstalling a system app, then you can use Titanium Backup or ES File Manager (Both of which are found in play store).
I personally have freezed the following apps... They consume RAM in the background and are of little value to me...
Devices, Drag&Share, Email, Exchange Services, Google Play Magazines, Screen Mirroring, Smart Connect, Sony Select, Xperia app Share, Xperia Calendar Sync, Xperia FB Setup, Xperia Friends Music, Xperia FB Proxy, Xperia Twitter Proxy, Xperia Social Engine Photos FB, Social Engine Picasaweb, Xperia Social Engine Sharing, Xperia Twitter Setup.

Removing app from Xpera M 1905 & general advices
Many thanks everybody for your fast replies.
First of all, alvinhochun, I apologize. I'm very sorry, it seems I am more noob than I'd thought. It will not happen again, "I hope". Antrikos48, thank you for your advice.
vivek p08, I've already installed Titatunium. At this moment I'm trying to learn how to make a complete backup of my device to my pc instead of the sd card. I want to backup the rom or firmware as well (I don't know the difference). It is just to prevent just in case I brick my phone. I've read it is necessary to revival the phone. (flash it with the original factory set up).
ckrishnakanthc, thank you for your clear and detailed explanation. I wonder if it would be possible to freeze apps, using settings-application- open the app an disable. I've read that LINK2SD app, is very useful to move things to the sd card, too. Actually, I'm trying to get more ram memory. I'm reading and leaning more about all this stuff. Finally, I'll try to swap Internal Memory to External following the guide in the forum. In the meanwhile, I'll begin to freeze apps and back up the entire phone (rom -firmware). Then, I'll start working on swap internal memory to sd card. I'll try to get more ram. I don't know if it is necessary to make sd card partition to get it. But first of all, I should understand what it means xd.

FYI some people posted FTF (firmware) files on the forums but if you want your own use clockworkmod. If you need help swapping the storage I can help you as I've already done it.

Thank you very much for your offer, I would appreciate your help a lot. Firstly, I'm going to to make a copy of my FW. I've downloaded a C1905 15.1.C.1.17 aerialus indo FW. Now, I'm going to use clockworkmod,to backup my FW, as you recommend me . My next step, will be swap the memory though I really scare to brick my phone

Try the commands on a terminal emulator first before making them on boot. That way there's no way of bricking or reboot looping. Just make sure you have full root.

Hi. Antrikos48, Although, I look forward to be able to do all this, for the moment, I don't have enough knowledge. It gives me a little shame, but I'm still trying to understand how to make the backup with clockworkmod. I do not understand the difference between FW and Rom and I don't know what is an emulator. Currently, I'm still trying to find out which apps should I use to backup the phone: ClockworkMod Tether (non-root) or Rom Manager .I'm absolutely messed up. For now, I'll try to get a backup. Again, I thank your offer and all the help you offer me. Perhaps, you could help telling me what to read first, which post, etc.
Thanks

CWM for Xperia M.
Use Titanium Backup to backup your apps.
Terminal Emulator I was referring to.
Reading this can help.

Lol, yeah Disable function too works pretty much the same way, but you should understand that
1. A downloaded app cannot be disabled. For example, if you have downloaded Subway Surfers, or some such app, it can be Force Stopped, or Uninstalled. You cannot Disable.
2. Not all pre-installed apps can be disabled, for example you'll notice that you can go to settings>apps>all and you can disable themes and many others, but you cannot disable stuff like about playstation certified, etc..

[Q] arc calendar deleted...

hi xda people,
i've purchased the xperia arc a few weeks ago and i'm stunned by the speed of this little machine. i have a little problem though.
due to the problems with not enough phone memory (i've installed a lot of apps and games) i've chosen to root my phone and delete some applications i didn't need. I didn't actualy delete any of the calendar applications cause i figured i might need them later. somehow though, i've lost the baility to use the app called touch calendar....when i start it there is no problem whatsdoever, but when i want to add an event i get the error 'you have no calendars.'.
my question is simple: does anyone have an idea what i might have deleted? and how do i get it back? if there's no way to individualy reinstall the specific apps or programs using the calendar (sync maybe?) is there a way to get the original xperia arc ROM from some place, reinstall it and fix the problems?
any help is appreciated, I really need my calendar app
greetz,
Flexikon.
Bump, same problem here :S:S
try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201262
or just try via SEUS, and after that try to root it again.
OP, this is not a place to ask questions. There is a Q&A section for that...FYI.
Best thing to do would be to re flash your firmware using flashtool, with the ' wipe user data' flash switched off.. That way your get new system software, but don't lose any of the apps you've installed.

A root attempt gone wrong :( Please Help

Xperia Arc 2.3.3 generic ending with .368
I attempted rooting my phone and was successful in it to as verified by "root checker" app. But something went wrong henceforth. Although I have been asking for solutions to my queries in some posts, the problems are mounting day by day and now it is daunting to post each of the problems in every post. So I will just lay it down here, in anticipation that I will receive help in some way
Here is what I did:
1) I used Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit and successfully completed the root process. (I had formatted and cleared all data on the phone prior to this)
I however, didn't understand much about the ADB drivers, but did as much as I could over a span of an hour or more by getting the Android SDK and downloading random drivers etc.
2) I downloaded "Root explorer" and started copying the files under the "safe to remove" list in accordance with this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470
The problem starts now:
~ Market fails opens and force closes showing the following error The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly
Browsing the Market is normal, but clicking on any app to download causes the force closure.
~ I try in vain to fix the problem by transferring all the files from the "SD" card and back into the System/App folder, but to no avail.
Now I did something I would deeply regret later on.
~ I formatted my phone. I erased all data and now I do not have the root explorer anymore.
~ I tried downloading SWs from other websites but even the browser force closes at the moment I hit "Download" at any point.
Without any native file manager I am unable to install any apps.
I tried in vain searching all over the internet about the problem I am facing but couldn't come up with anything substantial. After 6 hours of scouting I gave up and somehow only managed to get my contacts up.
~ I thought flashing another FW might help. I am trying to use the latest flash tool but even that shows an error "drivers missing" or something similar. I tried installing / updating the drivers but I get the message that "latest update is already installed". I later got a "S1boot driver missing" notification in the "installing manager" in bottom right corner.
Interestingly some of the system apps I moved and then returned to their original folder, show their widgets missing. Eg: I returned the clockxxx.apk to the original folder but it is still absent in the "widgets" option.
---
---
---
Present state: My phone is without any apps. Any attempts at downloading anything using either the Market or the Browser "force closes" it.
Please help me out with this.
P.S. I am a medical student. I do not understand software development, tweaking etc even in the remotest of terms. But I am trying as much as I can. So kindly bear with me for any obvious mistakes in putting forth the information or my ignorance towards something seemingly obvious.
There are problems relating to MTP connectivity also.
The phone fails to get detected and does not show up in "My Computers". Even SE PC companion SW fails to install the phone although it attempts to connect to it.
The Mass Storage mode works normally.
-----
Also I would like to point out, as is obvious from above that "Market" was fully functional after the root allowing me to download "root checker" etc.
The problem starts after I have transferred the .apk files from the System/App folder to a folder in SD card.

Use Sony Ericsson Update Service to repair the phone i.e. Reinstall the firmware then do the root but this time use titanium backup to uninstall the apps. But make sure you use titanium's backup feature to back up all apps just incase

TB gives the best option to "Freeze" them. I would personally recommend this as it gives you the option to run your phone without whatever is frozen. Once you are confident, then remove it.

Thanks everyone for the response.
I read about the update service, but the support page for arc states that the SW is not available for arc. I know it was available for the X10 and such. Do I DL it and use it for my arc?
I am going ahead with downloading it but I would like to be sure of it this time. For once I would like to look before I leap
Yes you can use the one for x10. I know it's not available on se site for arc.
If you can't find it lemme know, I'll upload it for you

You have to install update service on your pc. Search SEUS in google
Sent from my LT15i using Tapatalk
The main problem is that my phone fails to connect in the MTP mode. Absolutely nothing shows up, PC Companion fails to detect it, even if it does, it doesn't connect with it even after 10+ tries. I just did a reinstall but now it is stuck at the "communicating with your phone" part for the past one hour.

That would be a great help. Kindly do so.
I did google both SEUS as said above and before that was searching the SE websit after googling for Update service by SE. It didn't show up for the X10 too.
I guess I am lost.
Finally my arc is healthy and normal.
Thanks for the support. I was trying out various flashing methods, downloading MTP drivers, getting my phone recognised in the Android SDK while all that was needed was an update from the SEUS. http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...ds/subject/updateservice/1.349192?cc=gb&lc=en
My phone is now running> 2.3.4 build 0.42. I have however lost the root (root checker app)
I am a little apprehensive to do a root again. I might stick with the stock one for now and may try again when I am more confident.
Thanks again. Have a good day.
Simple Root again & install Rooot-explorer.
In case of problems you can always use SEUS...
good luck
Glad it worked out for you and sorry I didn't read your request for SEUS earlier, but you found it anyway

link2SD Convert system app ==> user app

hi guys
i checked the link 2SD latest version that enable you to convert system app to user app , then link them to SD card !!
fantastic ! isn't it ?
but i found that converting some system app makes our rom crazy and Force close happening.
my question is , do you know which app's are convert-able and which one isn't ?!
till now , i know that converting phone and home launcher makes sooooo many force close !
can you please share your experience together ?
I tried it on the Android framework, and now my XPlay is bricked...
My guess is that the ones that would be compatible with transferring to the sd card are also the ones that are safe to remove. If you're going to test any more than that, maybe test the phone and messaging apps, but other than that, there's some real dangerous ground you'll be walking, as neverwinter found out.

I tried it on The Amazon Kindle app and it worked. Asphalt 6 and Star Battalion it would not. Same for VZ Navigator (but I think I can uninstall it). That said I'm worried to do too much of this for the possibility of it screwing up a future OTA update.

What OTA update? You think Verizon's actually going to do anything more for this phone?
In all seriousness, though, I'm not entirely sure the Link2SD has good implementation of this method. You might try Titanium Backup to convert system to user apps, then try linking it with Link2SD. It may still not work, but it'd be worth a shot, I suppose.
Furthermore, I always delete bloatware I'm not going to use with Titantium Backup. If I need to go back to stock for an OTA, I just flash the complete stock of whatever phone I'm on. For us on the Xperia Play, we have the .ftf files. That'll prep you for an OTA just fine.

Hilariously, that exact question came across my head last night. In all reality I think they are done with it, we are never gonna see 2.3.4 or ICS (although shockingly they still sell it $19.99 w/2 yr in store, or free online w/2yr).
I'm gonna probably go the titanium backup route. I am running out of space severely.
U can try system/app mover on play store, but u need root. It works great! I changed some apps in my Cyanogen nightly build, like messaging app ,or stock camera and even converted Gboard

here is list of some apps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546253
but i suggest you to download 'NoBloat Free' app from Play Store and remove apps easily from there.
It will be more useful to keep the backup of some apps, who knows, tomorrow we may need them....!
Great. It's a perfect list.
NoBloat did not show all the apps. Titanium did,so I uninstalled them with it.

How to remove your bloatware:
1. Root your phone (search the forum)
2. Install titanium backup from Google play
3.
4. Profit?

Back in topic: you can unistall without being rooted MCAfee Security for sure (I did it). For the other apps you must be routed as Antrikos48 has pointed out. Well, to understand if you can easily remove applications from your ROM or not depends on few things. Firstly if you want to remove a system app or a normal app. In case of system app, you will need ROOT to perform the action. Secondly, even removing bloatware can brick your phone and you will need to reflash firmware. This is because the ROM usually share files between system and user. So one program might be using system files too and removing that could damage your system files resulting in bricked phone. For that, first you will need to deodex your ROM. This simply means that your all applications would be stand alone and there would not be sharing between them. So removing one program would not affect any at all.
I would prefer to remove bloatware with titanium backup after my ROM is deodexed as it's easier and gives you more control. However, you will need to root your phone!
Good Luck
Hnk1 you started to shed some light on the debranding issue. Some questions to go farther with your explanation: 1) is it possible to check if the ROM is already deodexed ? 2) why I should have more control removing bloatware with Titanium ? If I select the "wrong" app and I remove it the problem is the same regardless how I removed it

To wonder, if you have selected the normal file or not, this will come with experience and how ROM works.
I have even removed keyboards, camera, notes application, dialer and still my ROM booted. The files which are not in the app drawer are usually the files you must not remove unless you know about them ( like keyboards, extensions of facebook, picassa twitter or any other application which can be removed)
In Titanium backup, you can simply select which file you want to remove and you can even make a backup in case you need them later. You can also just freeze the app, in which case it will be installed but it wouldnot be functional at all. You wouldnot see it in app drawer even.
Remember to clear dalvik with titanium backup after deleting apps (esp system ones), this will free some extra space in Internal memory.
Good Luck
Antrikos48 & Hnk1, thanks for your directions.
To be honest, Hnkl, your "Good Luck" doesn't give me a lot of wish to go ahead in the process. Just in case...I guess that when you say "brick the phone" you mean "having a boot loop"; in this case, being routed but without a recovery (still with my bootloader blocked), which should be the procedure (if exists) ? Could you please just point me to the wright direction ?
