HTC One X G-sensors not working all of a sudden! - HTC One X

Hey guys... My friend bought an HTC One X second hand. It is rooted with what seems to be stock 4.0.3 Sense 4.0. The phone is also S-OFF and everything.. I will post pictures of it.
So here's the deal:
My friend was watching a movie but suddenly he felt as if the screen wasn't rotating... Now (According to AndroSensor App) the magnetic field, orientation, gyroscope, accelerometer etc... In short.. All of the GRAVITY SENSORS and the orientation sensors aren't working.. They are DETECTED by the app but say "Waiting for event"
tried hard resetting and everything. I have put many Custom ROMs in phones before. So i can flash ROMs etc if i have to
I have attached the pictures about everything and need help.. Alot appreciated thanks.

I noticed i forgot to upload all the attachments.. I also have noticed that people have this problem on Sense 5. This one is sense 4 o.o
Can anyone help me in this. Also the phone has its bootloader LOCKED. I have to unlock it now?

Since i bought it second hand he told me "i gave you the phone when it was working. Even you checked it here in the shop. Not my fault.".... Thats the last time i ever buy a 2nd hand phone -.-
And he ain't wrong himself either... Anyways a helpful suggestion will be alot appreciated...
My question is that "CAN I FLASH A SENSE 5 (4.2.2) ROM ON THIS BAD BOY BY JUST FLASHING VIA RECOVERY?"
I'll then check the other powering off and stuff i read till i get my hands on my frnd's HOX. Cuz im a bit busy waiting for the Nexus 5 launch o.o

you should update it first, that is a very old version, you should have updates available. as it is s-off you can flash anything you want but I think you will need to update the hboot first, once that is done you have a lot of options available to you

Yeah you might be right... So what you are suggesting is I do a ROM flashing? Seeing the phone is already s-offed and everything
Anyways can you please list me a step by step procedure? Seeing this is my friend's phone so not doing this on my own :x

Go to settings and check for an update. What we all recommend is that you send it to HTC, all untampered One Xs should still be in warranty, so send it to them, if it can't be fixed they'll send you a One X or a One X+, or sometimes they could send a HTC One if you're lucky :/

Nay i live in Pakistan :/ if this was in warranty even they wouldn't have accepted it :/ or requested a cost for it... Either way thanks for your reply... So doing an OTA update won't create problems on an S-OFFed device right?

OTA need relocked or locked device , stock recovery and stock ROM
and if you still have a problem with your g-sensor , check my signature , there is an alternative way to fix it

Oh i'll get right on it when i get my hands on the device can i request you to stay put to this thread? Cuz i will report back here

if you flash a custom recovery you can do anything you want, ie flash a rom, sense or no sense, or flash back to stock and because you are s-off you can even change your cid to install an update from a different region.
this can go on and on and people are starting to repeat themselves and you have had all the information you need to move forward. so what you need to do, as you say you cannot fix under warranty, is :- let the phone update via ota, this will update everything including the rom, the version of sense and the hboot. then once it is finished with all ota's available you can install a custom recovery( I recommend philz touch recovery or the latest twrp) and then you can flash all the rom's or mods you like.
and if you find you still have a problem with sensors check @HTC Venom signature for a possible solution

Try to do the hard reset after couple of days. Once you feel your device is warm enough. Chances to get them back gets better with time

i got them back except for temperature sensor....althought i did this thing several times, but once it worked out...i restarted the phone by long pressing the power button, even after the TURN OFF menu appears...on the start screen pressed volume down button to go in safe mode, all sensors started working, then i restarted mobile to come in normal mode.
working fine uptil now, i dont have restarted or powered off after that. so dont know if they will keep working after restart or again same problem will occur
all the people having same problem, just keep on trying restarts, safe mode, factory reset etc etc most probably they will start working. its just hit and trial

Phone in loop, help!

I tried removing a ROM to get back to what the original phone should be like, with factory settings as if it were from a shop.
I was using this tutorial: onexroot.com/one-x-unroot/how-to-unroot-rooted-htc-one-x
I was doing it and now it seems to stay on STEP 10, with RELOCKED at the top, I try to carry on from that step and anytime i reboot it comes back to this screen.
I just got the phone and really need help please!
Once you have re locked you need to run the ruu applicable for your region and phone software version to get back to stock.

Nope its not branded
@Op
I'm not going to spend whole my night as I did last time but I think I know what you are doing wrong.
So here's my advise, maybe it works (maybe not), but it's worth a try.
1 Unlock again
2 Flash boot_signed.img in fastboot mode
3 Erase cache
4 Relock
5 Flash the RUU
I will come back later here.
Goodnight.
Edit; fun those smileys, I didn't choose them, it's because I used a specific set of characters haha LoL ' : ) (extra space to avoid the smiley)'

[Q] Warranty question

Hi
I have a question before sending my HTC back for the wifi repair to HTC.
If I make a nandroid backup of my existing custom rom, then unroot the phone, when I reroot the phone once i get it back, can I simply use the nandroid backup I had made to restore everything once I have re-rooted?
Thanks
Manny

Yep, ofcourse you can.
To be honest you need to re-lock your bootloader also.
And hopefully your lucky enough to be one of the people that gets a warranty fix even though your unlocked and rooted.
As many people get turned away.

I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom and also have the boot.img for the stock rom. I assume that if I flash these 2 first and then lock the bootloader? Is that correct?
if it is correct - is it simple to lock the bootloader?

Hi, yeah thats correct mate.
Easiest way is to flash the correct RUU for you phone. Im sorry but I don't know how to get the correct RUU perhaps someone else could help.
What I do know is that you can never fully "lock" the bootloader again, it will say "Re-Locked" and not "Locked" all you can do is hope they do not check the bootloader.
Hope this helps

Definately, if they boot the phone and see CWM, TWRP, Titanium, SuperSU/SuperUSer they'll know straight away you are rooted.
Remove anything you possibly can that will identify a rooted unit.

Warranty VOID?
I needed to send my phone in, but I don't have the sticker on the back, or the box, and there's no way for me to get to the settings on the phone, because the screen stopped working.
Will HTC still be able to service my phone, or is the warranty considered void?

HTC repair is bull**** just for the record. I have 4G Slides on the rest of my lines, ALL of which had to be sent in.
2 of those phones took nearly 45 [FORTY FIVE] days to get back to me. Apparently there was a hold for parts coming in from Taiwan. They wouldn't tell me which parts. They wouldn't even give me an estimate time. HTC didn't apologize or update me on my repair. I found all this out after numerous calls day after day.
But if you thought that was bad service, you'll love this...
The third phone was sent out and came back fairly quickly. Within a week. I was so happy to get my phone back.
Opened the box and GUESS WHAT?
HTC SENT ME THE WRONG PHONE
They sent me a completely different phone for a different carrier (HTC Evo 4G for Sprint). It was very beat up as well.
I swear, if it wasn't for their designs (which I love dearly) I would've dropped the company by now...
Sorry for the rant/threadjack. Thought you guys would like to hear a horror story. I'm done
does anyone know how to remove the super su app and the clockwork recovery? everything else is now back to stock as i did a nandroid back up immediately after rooting initially
thanks

Maybe I am not following you completely...but why would you try to take an OTA when you are unlocked and rooted?
Second, I don't believe there are any OTA updates for the Vzw One as of yet.
It looks like you attempted to install an update for the European/International HTC One.
Why you are trying to do so, I'm not sure.
But you don't wanna install that, even if you could...

Well, I assumed you had the Verizon HTC One, since you posted in the Vzw One forums.
If you have the International One, you may wanna post in the relevant forums.
Folks will be much more capable of helping you with roms/software intended for your model over there.
The OTA will not install while you are unlocked and running a Custom Recovery.
Try finding a rooted version of the latest OTA version for your device in your device's Development forums.
That would be the best, most appropriate way to update the stock software while staying rooted and unlocked.
Good luck! :good:

Thanks! I haven't yet.
I have gone back and forth about it quite a bit. (still thinking about it every day, lol)
Can't really give up or don't want to give up my Unlimited though.
Since someone was very kind and gave me a DNA a little while back, I may stick with it for now.
Still a vast improvement over the 'ol Thunderbolt, though I loved it too for quite some time.
There has been some talk of some very kind folks pitching in to help me get a One though.
So that way, I can keep my Unlimited and hopefully work on both the One and the DNA in the not too distant future.

[Q] HTC M8. Phone boots only in fastboot and I can't do anything (factory reset etc)

Hi guys. I have a problem with my M8 (international).

Hi everyone. I got a problem with my HTC M8.
First of all, I didn't make with it any changes (as unlock bootloader, root or installing any custom OS or recovery etc.) Week ago I left device, connected to PC for all night, and, I gess, with "bad" micro-USB cable.
Next day I couldn't boot this phone. I connected it to charger and after little time it was loaded to fastboot. But up today I can't do anything with phone: I can't unlock it, can't factory reset, can't boot to recovery etc...
I tried to find any same simptomes in google, but found nothing
As you can see on screenshots, I made steps for unlock bootloader but on device I didn't see notification about unlocking.

I would normally say the same. But the OP mentioned in another thread posted in the wrong forum section (linked in his post) that he bought from Canada but lives in Ukraine, so I think warranty is not valid. It would have been helpful for the OP to give all the relevant details in this new post.
I agree, it looks like his OS and possibly recovery have somehow become wiped, corrupted, or damaged. Not common for a stock device, but not unheard of, either.

Hi
I had a similar problem to you where I was stuck in fastboot mode and the only command it would execute was POWER DOWN and when switched back on it returned to fastboot mode. However I ended up in that state due to making a mistake in trying to unlock and root my phone. Also I believe my display showed the RADIO and OpenDSP details rather than the INVALID_VER_INFO that your's is showing.
I thought I had deleted the rom and recovery on my device and I had bricked my phone however I was able to recover my phone by getting a new unlocktoken from HTC and flashing it.
Once I had successfully unlocked my phone I had access to my rom and recovery.
I see from your first image that you tried to unlock your phone and it shows that 'unlock token check successful' but images 2 and 3 show that the phone is still 'LOCKED' so it may be worth going to the HTC site, get a new unlock token and try again.
If it doesn't work, it shouldn't do anymore harm either!
Best of luck.

Yes, I did this And in consol I saw that everything was fine, but on device I didn't see standart notification about unlocking.
A found some topics about "INVALID_VER_INFO" - and they said that it can be ok for some devices (guys checked this on their worked devices, booted to fastboot and saw the same).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715056 here is the topic about "INVALID...".
btw - I tried unlock phone after another man. He did the same - receive .bin from dev. HTC site etc. I did the same, but from another HTC dev. account and result was the same Phone didn't unlock.
It could be that the recovery has got messed up because I believe recovery is used to do it since unlocking will wipe data. The only things I can think of is a real ruu as in it full rom and firmware exe (good luck with that) or you could try just firmware ruu, riff box or HTC themselves.

Hey man. Sorry but your problem not the same. You installed custom OS and it could be the reason of this. I install nothing. I have full stock device. And my problem not the same with your problem. Could you create new topic please?

Thanks. But my skill too low for soldering these small parts I talked about completed pin-out connectors for JTAG. I tried to find them on EBAY and other JTAG stores, and failed (look at screenshot with these pin-outs higher).
Could anyone help with RUU process? What information I should have for correct RUU update? I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173 but I'm not sure that I have SPRINT device.
I need an information, how I can be sure, that I use correct file for RUU my HTC? Is it bootloader version, or operator version (Sprint, Verison etc.) or something else? As I wrote, I can open information about my phone in Fastboot (I can check my SN, CID, bootloader version etc.)

For a ruu to work it needs to have matching cid, guess mid and has to be same version or higher than what's on the phone. You can't flash the wrong one it won't let you.
Edit, also the one you linked to won't work.

Ok. And Can I flash version with unlocked bootloader and custom recovery, for example? (I said that there are a lot of recovery but they are custom. Is it ok for me or I should find pack with all stock?)
guess mid

HTC One M9 abort the update to android 7

Hi, my name is Lenard, and my problem is the followed:
A few months ago i rooted my M9 with HTC Dev, installing a custom recovery, I used also the Xposed framework, but nothing else more.
After a day i noticed that Snapchat doesn't work. So i prefer to took that step back because i use it ...
I took the ruu 3.35.161.12 for my phone with a branding. Put it on the SD card and do all how it should be. Bootloader relocked, stock firmware. It works, but the update to android 7 comes yesterday ... and i download it. My phone restarts and install it. But on 25 % the phone says "Nope", the red triangle and an exclamation mark comes.
Can someone help me ?
Sorry my English is not the pretty best !
Thanks in Advance !

Yes i know, but i think that the problem is not the update software, i think the problem is my M9. I serach for a way to install the stock ROM with android 7 and use snapchat.

Now downloading:

Other carriers will take their sweet time, but this is the beginning in the U.S. Is already out in Europe and some other parts of the world.

The Update is always there, but the install process canceled until 25%. But there was something very strange...
A friend has also a M9, and i ask him if he could do the update on his phone to check if it works. He did not do anything with his M9, not rooted, and not set S-off. Nothing. And the Update fails too. So... The problem can be the update, not my M9...
