QI pillow charger on daily steals - Nexus 5 Accessories

35 bucks for the fat boy pillow. If I didn't already have a few qi chargers I would try it.

I have heard a lot of horror stories about daily steals.

I've ordered from them. Not necessarily horror stories. Bad customer service, bad delivery times (up to 1 week for what you ordered to get shipped) but in the end it does get shipped as advertised.

This thing actually has good AMZ reviews too (4+ stars with 22 reviews)

I don't really like the design, the pads just seam better all around.

I have purchased from Dailysteals before...if you can handle slow shipping and you have absolutely no issues with your purchase it can be ok...but some of the stuff I've received that looked good was so cheaply made it went straight into the garbage.
I ended up picking up a QI charger from ebay for $16.78...you can search on "Wireless Qi Power Charger Pad for Nexus4 Lumia920 HTC 8X Note II S3 i9300" which was the exact title I searched on. Apparently the price from this seller is now $15.20.

Do we know if any QI chargers are compatible with the Nexus 5?

I had the fat boy pillow charger for my Nexus 4, and I returned it. The charge would not stay consistent, and the pillow was a bad gimmick. Qi isn't quite a standard in the sense that all products are interchangeable, its more as if its the theory of building the technology. For some reason the Nokia chargers don't work well outside of the Nokia phones. I thought the pillow would be a great way to charge my phone on my bed, but the pillow is not a traditional pillow, it is a canvas cover, with a foam base on which the nokia charger sits. Its not soft and the phone does not sit in a "soft pillow."
I would advise against buying it.

[Q] Where is the best place to go for Xoom related accessories?

I have the WiFi xoom. Today I went to the Verizon store to get a charger for my xoom and the camera connectivity cable (USB Host Cable). The guy kept trying to sell me a usb charger and swore it would work. He also couldn't find the cable in the system because it wasn't listed as an official xoom accessory in the verizon system. After I laughed derisively at him I went to best buy where they had an endcap of 6 xoom accessories. The cable I was looking for (now only 19.99, heck yeah), the dock (49.99, much better), keyboard 2 cases and a screen protector.
OK so six isn't a lot of accessories but since six is greater than zero best buy sadly won my business. Plus the verizon rep there actually knew **** about the xoom (if they know what rooting is you are talking to the right guy).
So my question is, to avoid all this nonsense in the future, where do you all go or buy from (if online)?
Try eBay and Amazon that charger at best buy I got for 28.00 new. The gel case I got for 6 new and got a knockoff stand case leather for 15 and it works great.

I have a hard time trusting auction sites. I like Amazon, but sometimes I like instant gratification.
Yeah I have that same problem but all the items I bought came up to 55.00 2 cases and a charger. I like saving money as much as gradification. Plus I pay with pay pal so your protected.

Wireless Charger Sale! $25

Hi All,
I found this while I was browsing around.
http://www.dailysteals.com/?utm_source=DailySteals.com+-+Deal+of+the+Day&utm_campaign=cecca2efb8-1_4_13_Sat_Steals&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_df9b59ce87-cecca2efb8-30879741#d/17452
The MSRP is $99, they're charging $25 right now. Tried googling the name, but nothing comes up. Then again, its hard to mess up a wireless charger. I ordered it anyway.
Just in case anybody else is interested. :good:

Looks like another no-name charger. $25 isn't a good deal
Yeah I bought 4 of these on ebay for 15$ a piece shipped I started with two , they worked perfect so I bought two more a couple days later all in 4 for 60$ I couldn't be happier just do a quick search on ebay, if your u sure just hit me up I'll find my reciept....

There is no way the MSRP on that is $99. Definitely not a "steal" as they put it. I've been burned by that website before on a MicroSD card that was advertised as a sandisk class 10 but ended up being some knockoff brand when it finally got to me, loose and floating around an envelope in no packaging.

DO NOT buy this!!
It has a proprietary plug, is not micro USB, and the output is only 750mA... It will charge your phone extremely slowly compared to other Qi chargers.
Most other Qi chargers, even ones half this price have a 1000mA output.

I will admit its not that fastest charger out their, but by no means it is a bad wireless charger what so ever. Takes under 3 hours to get a full charge from 0%.
I had a Tylt Wireless Charger on order and had to cancel the order after reading about their over heating issues. While N5 users using the DT900 have nothing but good things to say about it, a simple search here on XDA will prove you that.
The Nokia DT-900 is a quality wireless charger, especially when compared to any cheap eBay wireless charger you can buy, I would never set my phone on a cheap eBay wireless charger.

If you generalize about the quality of a product strictly based on price and where you buy it from, you'll miss out on great products sorry to say. And I have done quite a bit of reading, both here on xda and elsewhere about the DT-900, and it's a mixed bag. Most of the high praise was due to the price when they had a fire sale, the performance is just average, many saying on the slow side. Also with issues of having to perfectly find the sweet spot, despite it having 3 coils.
While I agree the Tylt Vu is not my cup of tea, if you search for posts I've done about cheap Qi chargers. I've got ones that we're under $12, charge fantastically, and have no problems with detection. And yup, dirt cheap from ebay, the place where you would never set your phone down.

What I meant by the cheap eBay products is that they aren't name brands, meaning they are cheaply made by god knows who...
I don't think their sale price has anything to do with it, look at Tylts they had a 50% off sale on them, and it has just exposed the overheating issue with the N5 even more because more people bought them and were affected by the issue. Whereas Nokia's also had them on sale and has gotten good reviews, barely any complaints on the N5 forums.
But we are all entitled to our own opinions, so I respect yours.
I will happily read those posts,
Thanks.

So there you go folks Nokia DT-900 even cheaper: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nokia-DT-90...3747?var=&hash=item8e13c7e2f2&vti=Color White

Okay, but that's your mistake. You're assuming everything name brand is somehow better, and everything no name is cheap. In other words, you are the exact target audience for advertising, branding, marketing, and labels.
A Nike symbol on a shoe, doesn't somehow make it higher quality than the exact shoe without the swoosh stitching. They're still made at the same $1.50 hour sweat shops overseas. Only that little check mark allows a store to mark it up hundreds of dollars more.
Have you seen how a bread factory works? It's the same production line, at the very end it splits off in multiple directions for multiple brands. Wonderbread, walmart, house brand, no name. Same production line, same product, different branding, vastly different prices. Your breakfast cereal works the exact same way, same factories, different boxes and branding. No name/generic, skips the advertising and branding, so they charge less, and I save money.
But if you want to keep the opinion that generic = cheap garbage, go for it. I'll happily spend less money for a product that is the same or better, even if it doesn't have a few extra letters associated with a giant corporation.
Here's an example I did about the Nexus 5 quicksand cases. Name brand vs Generic ebay. One is $20, the other $0.99
You tell me if the 20x increase in price is worth it.

I never said that generic brands in totality are garbage. That's why in a post above I said depends.
You can't always compare cheap no name brands to high end brand names. Sometimes you can sometimes you can't.
But this is really worthless, this thread was simply about someone wanting to buy a $25 no name cheap wireless charger and I pointed out that for $24.50 they could buy something that is better in terms of quality and brand.
BTW nice find with the cases, in that case the generic brand was of very similar quality when compared to the name brand.

Thanks, but on technicalities, it's not "similar quality" to the name brand case. It is the SAME case, minus some ink for 1/20 the price.
Also, it isn't worthless to bring this topic up, because despite talking about it, you continue to keep making ignorant generalizations, in this case, ones with no factual basis.
For instance, why do you automatically assume his charger of choice is a "no name cheap wireless charger?" You know absolutely nothing about it. Sure there are ones out there that cost less, but why would you assume his is bad? Just because it isn't Nokia, Sony, Samsung, or whatever other billion dollar conglomerate, doesn't make the product no name or cheap.
Then you list a Nokia, saying it's better in terms of quality and brand, yet you have no basis for comparison other than what you're imagining.
Your recommendation, other than the word Nokia molded in the plastic in worse in every way than almost all other standard Qi chargers.
1) It uses proprietary inputs, almost every other manufacturer uses the standard micro USB adapter.
2) Most reviews say it requires finding the sweet spot to charge, or the phone doesn't recognize it.
3) It's output is 750mA while almost all others are 1000mA.
So again, how is the Nokia better in terms of quality and brand when in all actuality, the product is worse in every way?
This is going to be my last post as it isn't adding much to the topic.
Its like comparing a a Mercedes Benz to a Kia. Which one is better my friend? The Benz or the Kia. We all know the high end brand is going to be better.
If you tell me the Kia then we all know who is actually being ignorant.
Remember I earlier said it is my opinion, and that I respected yours. I'm not going to lower myself to getting into some stupid fight with you over this. Like I said and will say again it is my opinion. If you don't respect another people opinions the one who shouldn't be recommending products is yourself.

iOttie Easy Flex Wireless Qi Car Mount

Looks like iOttie is taking reservations for their Qi car mount. Spoiler alert: It's $80.
http://www.iottie.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=1058&ProductType=321
I was hoping for a $40-50 price point. So, yeah, I'm a little disappointed.
Yeah $80 is way too high especially when you can get more "Premium" Chinese Qi Car docks for about $45. I figured the price was going to be more than we requested when the "Rep" that had the iOttie post suddenly went silent. $50 was just the high end of Purchasable range. $80 is high even if there were NO other options on the market. Heck the OwlPad sold for LESS than that much when it came out...over a year ago. So yeah makes me feel the company is trying to fleece the N5 owners.
Hey guys,
We did not go quiet on the postings - we were just advised from XDA moderators that that kind of posting is not permitted within the forums.
We do appreciate the constructive feedback with regards to our product & pricing. We will pass that information onto our management team for more detailed review.
I would buy it for around $40-50 but definitely not at $80.
80? This is why I've refused to buy the tylt vu. I have zero problem shelling out cash for accessories but that's ridiculous.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
80? Probably cost 15 to make at those quantities. I'll pass, thanks.
the air dock is better than this, and it costs less at $69, but even that's still way too expensive for this kind of thing. $80 is just ridiculous.

yeah the retail price isn't what it'll be on amazon. Funny I wrote in to them when I first got my nexus 5 asking if they were making one. Glad to see they did.
I'm curious on final price. Been using their mounts for awhile and find it pretty good.
I do have 2 of the indiegogo airdocks coming though. Which in the end is a better solution if it works.

Curious, I see that people are upset at spending $80 for a modern and functional mount that also wirelessly charges your phone. I think it looks awesome and I would totally buy it, but I'm curious, what other alternatives exist?

Other than the Air Dock which was a Kickstarter but now goes for $69 now and the OwlPad which has been out for OVER a year which sells for $57. There are others on Amazon and Aliexpress from $35-50 depending on quality. $80 for a plain old QI charger is just over priced. For $69 at least the Airdock has the Magnets for the N5 included in the design.
One thing to consider with a wireless charger dock for the car is how much flexibility in positioning it offers, cause most of the time, you'll probably need to put it where it can get some direct air conditioning. This Easy Flex Wireless, if it's like the Easy Flex 3, can be rotated 360° and put the phone hanging in front of the vents of my car.
Does anyone know if this will work with case on. I would get it but I wanna know if can have a case on my nexus and it will still work. If you know the answer please let me know. Thanks

It does, like any other Qi charger. IIRC Qi can do something like half an inch distance. In any case, it should be fine for any cases that are not battery cases or metal ones.
Not bad, but bouncy....
I pre-prdered this dock using the Facebook coupon, and it arrived over the weekend. I tried it out in the hopes that it would not exhibit the bounciness that the other wireless charging dock I ordered had.
I used my phone, both with and without it's TPU case (my phone is an LG G2) in this dock and on all but the smoothest of roads (I live in Michigan, so "smooth road" is almost an oxymoron) the bounce is very noticeable. There is just too much flex in the arm of the dock.
I have written to them via their facebook page in hopes that I receive a reply and hopefully a solution.
The pricing is now $69.95 on amazon

ZeroLemon Pixel 3 XL 4700mAh Slim Power Battery Case

Well, after receiving an amazon gift card for Christmas, I decided to bite the bullet and get one of these battery cases.
It should be delivered by Friday and I should be able to give it a good test the following weekend when I spend the day in Manhattan.
I have a great 10000 mah portable usb c charger that I've been using since my 2xl days, but it would be nice to not have to keep that in my pocket when I'm out and about.
I don't really need a case like this as most of my days are spent rather close to somewhere that I can charge up in a pinch. I've got chargers all over my house, in my office at work and I'm always plugged into Android Auto when I'm in my car.
But there are times that this battery case might really be nice and since I had the amazon gift card, I figured why not.
How's everyone liking this case so far?
I'm not going to get it, as much as I'd love a batter case the fact that you lose functionality while using it is a deal breaker. I used Android auto and the wired pixels buds daily. The fact that it doesn't have some sort of pass through function is mind boggling.
Also looking on Amazon there's at least 5 separate cases that are exactly the same which is suspect to me. How do you know that zerolemon is the original manufacturer and not just a rebrand or even worse a seller just selling the rejected models that didn't pass QC?

I agree...this looks identical. I bought one direct from China. It works great, looks pretty good.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...162.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4d6hYijg
It was $23 when I bought, seems to have gone up a bit. Delivery was in about 2.5 weeks, no tax, no delivery fee.

Is there really no battery case (a la Mophie) yet?

Kind of stunned to find there is basically nothing out there. This looks intriguing https://i-blades.com/products/pixel-4-smart-case-battery-memory-enviro-sensor-cases-sdcard but I can't tell if it's shipping, the cushioning looks really thin and it's like, you added an SD slot but you couldn't do a headphone jack??
Has anyone found anything else?
So there was 1 option on amazon from the company called "NEWDERY" but I think they're all sold out. They only have ones left for the 4 XL. I actually can't even find the listing anymore, about a week ago the listing was on amazon but it said that it was out of stock and now the listing is just gone. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see. You would think more companies would hop on this because our battery is so bad, but I guess not.

I have the newdery one, except I got mine from amazon in the US. It's great. Wireless charging works and I like that the bottom has no huge chin like some old school battery cases used to have. There is a button on the back next to LED battery life indicators for the case. Press and hold to turn on or off. It actually fast charges the phone too. It's obviously thick but it doesn't add much bulk in terms of the width, so it's actually still quite comfortable to hold in the hand. I personally don't use it everyday, i just got it for days I go on long adventures like hiking or theme parks.
