[Q] Xperia M [Bootloader] Once First say No then say YES - Sony Xperia M

Hi everybody i have an Xperia M from poland i buy her in t-mobile PL and when i first run my phone and look in Service Menu for Rooting Status: he say Bootloader unlock allowed : "No". In next day i look in the rooting status and Bootloader unlock allowed says "YES" now i have two backup-TA one with bootloader status NO and one with bootloader status YES. I have read many sites and everybody say's when your bootloader unlock allowed say's No You can't change this to YES. But my phone first have NO and now he have YES. This is normal in this phone?
I gvie here two screenshots one with Bootloader No and one with Bootloader Yes. In screenshot i only remove 4 last number of my IMEI. Can somebody explain me that how he changed it from NO too Yes? Sorry for my english.

You might have received an update, hence the change. But I'm not too sure, can anyone confirm this?

Hello This is very intresting for me. I Have Xperia M C1905 number compilation 15.1.A.1.9 And i don't update it. I have only rooted. When I remove battery from phone and wait about one minute and then start phone my rooted status is NO. When i look next time for status about half hour the status i have YES! If anyone does not believe me I can prove it in some way.

Well, as far as I know that problem happen when using 15.1.A firmware. However, if you update your firmware to 15.1.C, the problem is solved. I've read same problem at Indonesian Xperia M thread on other forum.

When you update the firmware, the status will be YES, regardless the status before you update the firmware. So you can update the fiirmware anytime, not only when the status is YES.
I've sent you PM about the thread

Something There Might help ^
devise is already updated and rooted now i want to update to 4 without losing the rooting!
And a ton of people are going to ask the same question. Sigh!
As of yet, there's no OTA update roll out for the latest .368 firmware for the arc. Some regions have the OTA update for the neo.
We ALL will just have to wait a bit longer for SE to do the honours. Patience mate!
so how other arc users managed to update their devices ?

If you have an unlocked bootloader (as adviced in your first post), then you must look in the development section, they have the stuff you need.
If you have locked bootloader like so many of us, you just have to try and keep hitting the "update button" in the settings menu and hope for the best.

[Q] Xperia ION software update

Hi xda,
I'm new in this forum
I bought a Sony Xperia ION (LT28at) and I rooted with a .bat file
How can I install Jelly Bean versions if my bootloader is locked
It says: Bootloader unlock allowed: NO
Thanks for your help
and sorry for my English ;D
Instead of posting a new thread, use the search button and read please. This topics were discussed many times.
You will get Jelly Bean when it will be released. Official JB for iON not yet released.
You can update official JB with a locked bootloader also. Unlocking bootloader not required.
But Bootloader unlocking required if you want to use any custom ROM and post questions in Q/A forum next time please.
Thanks for your reply and your welcome,
I know, the ION doesn't have Jelly Bean, but I can install a JB Custom ROM?
Can you please put the url to unlock my bootloader?
Its secure to do that?
If your bootloader status says this= "Bootloader unlock allowed: NO"
then i am afraid you won't be able to unlock the bootloader using the traditional way by yourself my friend.
You either have to pay for it or contact your carrier for unlocking. But i think JB for iON may not be very far, so u can wait if u want.

Thanks for the civilized reply. I suppose that's the one. I haven't agreed to the update yet, so shame on me for assuming it was 4.1
it's definitely misleading that their JB updates rolled out today and this BS update came out too though.
OP, you're SOL man.. at least until Sony and AT&T actually decide to update this thing like they said they would months ago.

You can always root your device. You will still receive OTA (over the air) updates. I highly recommend to root your xperia S, because it is very easy and I can't name a negative thing about it. To root your .55 firmware, search in the android development thread for a topic about rooting this specific firmware. It's called New root method or something like that. I'm on my mobile now so I can't give you a link.
As for bootloader: yes, you can unlock it. I personally don't recommend it, (a lot of others will), because you won't be able to go back to normal and I find it very difficult to do. There are about 2-3 ROMs that can be installed with a locked bootloader. I also have a locked one and used Xzxperience 2 for quite a time.
Good luck with rooting (and unlocking?) and welcome to the forums

well mate i have already rooted my LT 26i to Jelly bean, it will be June to get official update.
don't worry about the warranty, u can re-lock your boot loader any time and flash it with .55 and no one will know that u had rooted your phone and u can do the official updates with OTA or PC companion or from service center.
i can 100% guarantee u that cz i have already tested it on EMMA ( official software for Sony )
if u want to know the details how to unlock boot-loader, root and install leaked Jelly bean, its all in the forum
if u don't understand then i can help out

To be honest I'm not really sure about OTA updates in custom ROM's. As far as I can recall you will NOT receive OTA updates. But you don't need them, because you can flash the official JB firmware when it's out with flashtool.
Good luck

I havn't tried this one, but I am planning to do so. (after JB ofcourse )
I will stick with .55 firmware now, until JB releases. If I like it I will keep it (will use some mods though).
If I don't like it, I will switch to the ROM above. If I don't like that one I might unlock my bootloader.

[Q] Sony Xperia ZQ important questions

Hi, I m from Brazil
I just bought a Xperia ZQ and it s my first Sony. Can you help me with some questions?
I ve already know that I can change my carrier version by another registered one downloaded right here in xda website without root or unlock the bootloader, right?
As I m not a developer, why would I need to root and unlock the bootloader?
Where, if It is possible, can I find different skins and themes for it?
How can I know about new upates? For example, new releases of firmware or android versions?
Thank you

You get updates thru SONY and you will get a notification when you can get a update.
To see if you can unlock your bootloader go to
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions as it will tell you the directions then once you have unlocked, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2095 and find some roms. ( its a little dangerous if you dont know what your doing ) and UNLOCKING will void the warranty

The phone is fantastic, but the battery is below average even with 3g, altough the relates i hear about SIV are even worse. Since HTC don't sell officialy in Brazil anymore, i don't trust in LG and Motorola don't have a rival for these phones i think ZQ is the best choise.
I'm a heavy user, so i charge it twice a day,but with moderate use + stamina mode i think you can get a day of battery.

[Q] i9195 root after doing software update ?

Hi,
I didn't find answers to my question on the forum so will ask it here.
I just received my " Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini I9195 - Factory Unlocked - International Version - LTE/4G (Black)" and after a few minutes of use, the "software update" window showed up. I did the update and would like to know if I can still root using this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 despite the fact that I did the update ?
I don't know if it's important but my build number ends with MG8
Is there a chance that I brick my phone even if I do exactly what's explained on the tutorial ?
Is there anything else I need to check that could cause problems before trying to root ? (Kernel version, Baseband version...)
Please forgive my noobness
